Incredible first hand account. Reading about armies and movements prevent readers from seeing what McCarter has done, that is seeing this war from the soldier’s perspective. His splendid eye and writing ability leave future generations with an amazing look at one of the Irish Brigade’s most destructive days at Fredericksburg.
