For those who like their stories intensely erotic, featuring hot men and even hotter sex… Who don’t mind breaking the odd taboo now and again… Who want to read something that adds a little heat to their fantasies… …there’s Tantalus. Because we all need a little tantalizing.
Audio 5 Stars Story dnf part way through chapter 2.
I'm not the target audience for this book. Based on what I've read, I think this is going to be a kinky as fuck sexathon with little to no plot. Nothing wrong with that but it's not for me.
I read the short stories in Tantalus’ Summer Heat Series four or five years ago with no idea the author was K.C. Wells. Well, part way into listening to the audio version of Damon & Pete this morning, I was scrambling to search “Tantalus” on my Kindle… and was I pleasantly surprised!
As hot as those two guys were in this series, nothing compares to listening to their romance being read by John Solo. (Yes, he’s one of my all-time favorite narrators, and his fans know of what I speak when I stress how much his performance can add - but whoa he really outdoes himself with this one.)
This is an intimate love story, with intense, erotic, and very graphic BDSM scenes. Starting as a purely sexual encounter, their relationship changes as the men gradually open up to each other. Over the course of the series, K.C. Wells explores how each man processes their experiences, both physically and mentally, as Pete and Damon make this journey.
The primary focus in the Playing With Fire series is how the couple’s sexual encounters influence the development of their relationship. For me, hearing the whole thing read from beginning to end, getting each man’s pov, and having it performed by John Solo elevates this story - it was a wonderful experience.
Fans of Tantalus’ Damon & Pete: Playing With Fire, you’ve got to try this one in audio!
an audiobook copy of Damon & Pete was generously provided by the author for the purpose of my honest review
I didn’t get the chance to read the Damon & Pete stories the first time around, but you can be sure I’m VERY glad I dove into the full collection here. These two are an erotic romance fan’s dream come true—brought together by a previously unknown shared enjoyment of BDSM and various kinks that surfaces after a bet between them, which leads to a deeper connection and so much more. Go into this one with an open mind…and maybe a fully charged set of batteries! *gasp*
The character background is relatively light, with more of the story concentrating on their current situation and how things develop between the two men after their first insanely hot encounter. Relationship development is central to their story as they settle into their D/s roles; it’s not all about the sex though their sexual connection does play a strong role in the evolution of their romance.
What I really liked was how you could see the BDSM side enhance their romantic connection, and their romantic connection enhance their D/s relationship. The trust that develops between them is solid and intense, as is how secure they become in their eventual love for each other.
If you’re here for the naughty side of the coin, you will not be disappointed. There are plenty of opportunities to indulge, and the more exposure Pete has to it all, the more adventurous and curious he becomes.
This story was a 4.5-star read for me, and I’d definitely be interested in hearing more about the supporting characters that were introduced. There is one element of the bonus material (“Pete’s Treat”) about which I was wary—as I’m guessing other readers might be too—but be sure to read the section the author adds after the end of the story so you have a better understanding before rushing to judgement. This book is meant strictly for readers 18+ for adult language and explicit, erotic sexual content.
I have read some BDSM in the past, but this is not my favorite genre. However, because this was a bundle of all the short stories in a series, and the cover looked tempting enough, I took a chance.
Boy! Was I surprised.
From an absolutely sensational first chapter to a sweet, totally surprising, last episode, this is a story of lust, craving, convenience, and eventually love, that is totally unexpected.
The two characters--40-ish Damon (on the cover) and late 20s blond preppy-type Pete--are exceptionally well developed and totally believable, and in Pete's case, lovable. (Damon eventually loosens up).
The supporting characters are a very diverse group from Damon's extremely large and tight-knit family (with a mother who is a hoot) to Damon's cadre of BDSM pals who introduce Pete to a wide, and wild, series of experiences that are very descriptive but, to my surprise, acceptable.
I liked this one, and I was very surprised that I did.
I love K.C. Wells' writing and I love John Solo's audio performances so I didn't have any doubt that I'd like Damon and Pete. I wasn't wrong. 😊 This is a hot as fire story about two guys who enjoy a bit of kink and exhibitionism. What starts out as fun between competitive neighbors turns into so much more.
There's not a lot I can say about the book other than it's great. There is definitely a romantic component but the focus is weighted way more towards the sexy time between Damon and Pete and others. Yes, there are a few scenes that include more than just the two title characters and wow are they smoking hot.
Damon and Pete probably won't be for everyone but if you like a hot and sexy MM story, voiced expertly by the fantastic John Solo, you can't go wrong with this one.
A copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
OMG! Hot and steamy aren’t adequate words to cover the erotic sensation this story creates. Damon and Pete are perfect together and the writers give us readers a fantastic HEA ending.
Does it have erotica? Yes. Does it have romance? Yes. It is an erotic romance? NO.
I got the last part of this series, Pete's Treat, from a Prolific Works giveaway. I got several pages in & was really liking it, but could tell that I had missed a lot of story before the installment that I had. When I saw that the whole series was available on KU, I immediately put aside Pete's Treat to read the whole Damon & Pete story from the beginning. I have regrets. There's a lot of kink in this, which makes it a hot read, but the opening wasn't very Safe Sane Consensual. I overlooked that because I'd read enough of the last installment to know that a relationship came after that opening scene. For me, the erotic elements did not smoothly align with the romantic ones. The proposal was the worst timed thing that I've ever read, but if it worked for you, I won't judge. What I will judge in writing, though, is plot. The evil ex trope has become my #1 peeve when it's done wrong & the random return of Damon's ex was unnecessary, ridiculous & just bad writing. Seriously, 18 years of no contact since the man left you to go live on the other side of the country where he still lives, apparently, but he magically appears on your porch the same night that you realize that you have feels for Pete & you don't ask the one who question that anyone in that situation should ask? How did you find me/what are you doing at my home?! It's one thing if the guy still lived in the area, had some connections to Damon's current friends & got a little jelly when people were suddenly talking about how Damon finally found someone. But no. Why should the writers think of anything logical for a scene that didn't even need to happen when Damon could/should have had all his realizations on his own if he were really a grown adult so confident in his life & self that he could dominate & own another person. That scene ruined everything for me because I could handle the clunky bits where the erotica & romance jarred against each other rather than melding together, but when something so glaringly contrived & stupid pops up in the plot, I don't overlook that. I read on to the end, skimming a lot & finding nothing to redeem the story & restore the good impression that I had gotten from what I had read of Pete's Treat. That's on me, though. I should have read all of that installment to see that the series wasn't one that I was likely to love, but I got as far as the Valentine's Day talking & Damon's mom putting the marriage idea in Pete's head & I thought a HEA was imminent so I better get the full story of these characters so I can fully root for the ship.

What a smoking hot series! I love the combination of all the intense erotic scenes with the softer emotions running through everything the MC’s do. This is a very steamy bundle of stories, but at its core is a deeply loving relationship. Not exactly a run-off-the-mill romance, perhaps, but still a love story at heart.
In the beginning of the book the focus seemed to be solely on the intense physical connection Damon and Pete share, but gradually we get to see more of an emotional link between them too. This is not to say that the physical side of things takes a backseat. Because it doesn’t. The closer these two men get emotionally, the more adventurous they get in bed, exploring Pete’s boundaries and sharing new experiences. I loved seeing Damon’s softer and more vulnerable side though, with his family, even with his awful ex, and Pete by his side throughout everything.
The bonus content in this bundle is very intense (of course), notching up the heat yet again, and also, be warned, super romantic! I loved it!!
I'm so glad I got to read this. I've been wanting to for a while and thanks to K.C. I got to. And it was worth the wait. I loved reading the journey of Pete and Damon. From start to finish, it was a cross between a porn and a sweet romance. Mostly porn though lol! Every relationship in the BDSM world is different. There are guidelines that is kind of the norm, but everyone person is different, which means every relationship is. Like with these two, it wasn't a 24/7 thing even though it was a lot of their time. They did have jobs and things they chose to keep to 'normalcy'. But The key to ANY relationship is communication and trust and it was good to see a good Dom/sub relationship. Not some jackoff being a dick thinking he's the alpha asshole. This was a really good little series. Personally, there are a few things I don't get out if that lifestyle but it doesn't detract me from the beauty of their relationship. I'm glad I got to read it.
OMG this is so damn HOT from page one!! Damon and Pete's story is just amazing. From the start of their relationship, which was definitely just sexual, to seeing how their relationship develops into something more. This might not be a typical romantic story but this is definitely a romance. Loved every minute of it.

Fantastic Story & Audible Listen🎧 Smoking🔥Hot! Damon & Pete Playing with Fire By: K.C. Wells, Tantalus Narrated by: John Solo
This is a steamy and enjoyable book, it is comprised of five previously published short stories all of which are of Damon & Pete. It starts with Pete losing a bet and having to do whatever Damon wants. And what Damon wants is Pete’s submission and more. Each story that follows is like another chapter and/or step in their life. The stories flow nicely, each one being just as hot, if not hotter with some great D/s & BDSM scenes all nicely done all smoking hot. I adored both Damon & Pete, Damon the more experienced of the two, the Dom who takes charge and Pete, more naive but does come into his own by the end. I loved the chemistry between them and how their relationship grew. There is never a dull moment in this book, in addition to the kink there are heartfelt moments for both Damon and Pete, loved Damon’s family too. Thank you Tantalus for this fantastic story!
I listened to the Audible edition, John Solo is a talented narrator and voice artistic. He does an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart he puts into his works he captures the characters emotions and passion which is projected into his performance. He perfected the Alpha Dom role as well as the softer submissive role. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen🎧
For an erotica, this is a 4 star erotica and does most of what it needs to be an amazing Erotic book.
I wish it had more plot though or something to attach to enjoy these characters relationship more. Maybe even some character/relationship building.
Erotica is a tricky book genre because I've experienced some erotica books with mind blowingly good plots and relationships but I realize that most Erotic books arnt all trying to go that route and definitely just want to focus in physical and naughty stuff.
This book is one of the erotica books that focus exclusively on physical and naughty writing.
There is loose relationship plot points to string together one Erotic scene to the next but it's definitely obvious the intent wasn't to tell a good romance story but to put something out in the world to get boys and girls to squirm to.
This was definitely a book to squirm to.
I really liked it.
It was so naughty that I definitely had to space out when I read this book because I definitely had to be in the mood. And when you're in the mood for what this book is meant for, it's easy to slip out of that mood once you get what you need from this book.
Absolutely recommend for anyone that needs something dirty to read late at night before going to bed.
I confess...I didn't know what to expect from this book. I knew that it is a series of short stories and that Tantalus, K.C. Wells alter ego, writes raunchier reads. Well, raunchy is definitely the word for the first two stories! The heat took my breath away. But then, slowly, the little buds of love appear and the tender moments that I love this author for became more evident, but always with eroticism woven through, above and below.
The masterful John Solo uses a whole arsenal of emotions to portray the raunch, sometime anger, the gentleness and finally the love. He is the ideal partner to this author, bringing both main and secondary characters to life.
This book was a suggested buy from a few of my group members. From start to finish it was steamy, angsty and overall great listen.
Damon and Pete got together because of a bet, after that things got more and more interesting. They knew what the other wanted and needed and each gave as much. These characters proved their worth to each other through trust and understanding.
I highly reccomend this bood.
excellent job John Solo,, you brought the characters alive. K.C. Wells, as usual you continue to give us the readers great books to savor and digest..thank you very much.
Alright, well, there's not much going on here in terms of plot but it's great smut. The little bite-size chapters are perfect for a "before bedtime" read. Third person, POV switches sometimes have to be inferred, I didn't really like that. Size kink and warning, if that's not your jam. The BDSM gatekeepers are gonna be sticklers on this one but its fiction, just go with it. We're here to get off, not educated.
Dom/sub(boy) is not my usual cup of tea, but the training of Pete by Damon on this collection of six stories was so tastefully and gradually handled that the woven plot came across as a tutorial. The two protagonists are described thoroughly and sympathetically, with the crisis at the climax enriching the reader's enjoyment. Well written by a trio, more well handled stories in this vein are welcome.
All of the other stories are sexy and hot. Then Pete's Treat is the final part in Damon and Pete's story. Hot steamy sex on Valentine's Day was a plan that Damon had planned for Pete. The pages burned! Pete's present to Damon was a surprise and a lovely ending.
Damon and Pete, so yummy, so Hot! I love reading stories with Power exchange and this one is great! I'm also excited to be able to read all of the parts of Damon and Pete story in one book.
Warning: fisting; HIV positive group sex. Collection leaned more toward PWP with a thread of relationship development running through the series of short stories.
Sexy and hot yes, but light on story. A little too much insta-love for me. It's a fun story, just not a lot of character development. I love happy endings.
I didn't really connect with this one even if the sex was hot. But this book deserve 2 stars just because for once the siblings are not all gay. Yay to that ! :-)
I quite enjoyed this story. It is very very hot from beginning to finish. I liked the way Pete and Damon's story unfolds and the ending was perfect and so them, I loved it
🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Overall 📚📚📚📚 . Story 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Hotness (new category)
Basically from page 1, it's full on, straight to it, virtual porn. I loved every minute of it. If your looking for romance skip this one, there is love, but it's not a slow burn romance by any stretch of the imagination. And having it read to me, I could visualise it quicker than by reading it myself.
One word - HOT! Damon and Pete are amazing. Not your ordinary everyday romance, but from the very first encounter these two worked for me. Follow through as their relationship develops, feelings grow into a love neither expected and options are explored - together at all times with trust foremost at the heart of everything that occurs. This is extremely well written and you definitely won’t be disappointed.
