Broken Hill Hurt

Rate this book
We had it all until we didn’t.

Nate Ryder has been the center of my world for the past few months. He’s cared for me, cherished me, and shown me a love I never even imagined could be real.

He was my rock when my father left and my voice when I didn’t have one. He was once my bully but now holds my heart in the palm of his hands, along with it, the power to destroy me.

We’ve face down every threat imaginable, and every single time, we’ve come out on top. But what happens when the threat is coming from within? What happens when our world literally goes up in flames and threatens to take my heart away?

When all the walls start closing in, he’s all I’ve got left but is what we have strong enough to survive? Or will this fairy tale come crashing down?

You know what they say; good things can’t last forever.

WARNING: The Broken Hill High Series is a four-book New Adult Romance filled with LOL moments, teenage angst, and of course, all the swoon-worthy moments I know you’re all dying for. This series is recommended for mature readers due to cursing and sexual content. If this offends you, then steer clear of this bad boy romance!

For everyone else, dive in and have fun!

Another good one!

“Phoenix is one of the many cheerleaders at Broken Hill High and up until two weeks ago, she was the captain. She was demoted after it came out that she seduced Jesse and slept with him. Apparently, the whole incest thing got shrugged off and only frowned upon because it was Jesse, and to the cheerleaders, he and Nate are the ultimate prizes. I mean, their priorities are seriously fucked up. Jesse still hasn’t been able to get past that one, and I don’t blame him. If he had known they were half-siblings, he wouldn’t have done it.”

I liked it, you get in to these lives a bit. The ongoing story of Tora and Nate, with Nate’s brother Jesse as the awesome sidekick. In this book, Nate’s troubles with Jackson are heating up after Jackson hit Nate’s car in the last street race and it was destroyed. Then Nate retaliated by blowing up Jackson’s car when Jackson wasn’t in it.

Tora - I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass
Jesse - Some babies were dropped on their heads but you were clearly thrown at a wall.
Tora - Does your ass get jealous of all the shit that comes out of your mouth?
Jesse - I could eat a bowl of alphabet spaghetti and shit out a better come back than that.
“Damn it. He’s got me.”

Jackson is still trying to get Tora to go out with him. He keeps telling her he isn’t really a bad guy. That Nate is the one that started the war between them. Tora loves Nate though and is not interested. Of course there are other things that happen, but I won’t give away spoilers. The plot is good, the romance is YA, so not too steamy, but also not completely clean. There is also a good bit of humor.

pizap-6 '𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐓' Is the third full length New Adult romance book within the (Broken Hill High) series by author Sheridan Anne. Nate Ryder & Tora

I'm on the 'Sheridan Anne' train at the moment, after finishing off with a series of hers which I loved Bradford Bastard I wanted to carry on in that bubble. This series seems to get better and better, I should be doing housework etc etc but like a train wreck I can’t make myself stop reading!

Break ups and heart breaks
Fights going off all over the place
The angst comes at you full force.

I can’t believe I’ve not read this series before. And it looks like I’l be stuck in this Sheridan Anne bubble for a while. I’m inhaling these books like a junkie, and honestly I’ve never read this fast before.

Just one more page, just one more chapter, just one more book behind me until I jump onto the next.

These two brothers are as thick as thieves, I adore them, I've giggled, I've swooned, I've loved every second reading this.

An emotional rollercoaster filled with intense romance and heartache, the story delves deeper into Tora and Nate's tumultuous relationship as they face betrayal, pain, and challenges that test their bond.
This storyline was so frustrating! I hope it gets resolved in the next installment 🤞

Wow.

To me it keeps getting better. Nate is my Mason (Fallen Crest High) I can't get enough. Jesse is my Loagan (FCH) and of course Tora is my Samantha (FCH) I can't get enough! On to the next!

I don’t even know how I feel about Nate and Tora anymore. I was a skeptic at first but then I loved him in the second book. I guess I’ll just have to wait for the last book and find out, but right now I don’t like the way their relationship is.

WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!
Why would you leave this book on a cliffhanger like that! I NEED the next book in the series NOW! 😭
I really enjoyed how Tora started to get more of a backbone and started to gain an attitude. It was different and refreshing. I found this book, out of the whole series so far has made me laugh the most from Tora challenging Nate.
In Broken Hill Hurt you get to see more of Jackson and see maybe he isn't the bad guy after all. (Never know just will have to wait and see what is to come in the rest of the series)
I am really upset with Nate in this book though. I thought he would have more fight in him. Instead I found him to be a chicken and not go after what he wants. But hey everyone has moments like he does in life. So who am I to judge. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I am immensely enjoying this series so far and cannot wait for the next book!
Sheridan Anne won't disappoint!

A series worth reading.

41/2 stars ⭐️ rating.

Broken Hill just keeps growing and it keeps getting more interesting. The characters are all well-written. The storyline the plot is just as amazing and well thought of. It’s definitely your run of the mill YA drama, it’s angst, it’s friendship, it’s family, it’s tears, it’s heartbreaking and it’s also about surviving from hate, bullying and love but this book Nate and Tora I love how strong they fight for what they love and Nate has grown and evolved (which I like to think he has).

I took away the half star rating cause I felt like Tora overacted a little bit too much and if I could have it any other way I’d like to read what Nate’s POV will be like.

***SPOILERS***

I swear that this author really knows how to make you laugh out loud and I love it so much. I have been reading this series so quickly which is always a good sign in my mind. I love that the relationships between the girls and boys are so organic and natural feeling. There isn’t an alpha mentality of everyone who is in a relationship cannot be talking to the opposite sex without the world imploding.

Nate and Tora breaking up seems kind of forced but I know it has to lead to something. I am glad that there isn’t a huge explosion of betrayal sexually because they aren’t together. They aren’t hurting each other in that way. I love to see Nate’s jealous side when it comes to Jackson towards the latter part of the book when Jackson is cozying up to Tora. I love that Nate is so in love with Tora that he still puts aside whatever it is he is going through to be there for her.

So Much Chaos & Fun, I Need More ASAP

This is a re-read of this series for me. Wow so much goes on in this story. After last books cliffhanger my heart was smashed to pieces. I feel so bad. My heart hurts for Tora & Nate. Yes I know they have time to mend their broken pieces, but agh, I need it sped up, I hate them a part. I soooo badly need more asap!!

Broken hill hurt is book three in the broken hill high series. This book is the latest instalment of Nate and Tora’s story. I love this series of books so far but the story gets better and better as the next book releases.
I did notice some mistakes in this book. In the first two books two of the characters are called Bec and Parker – I later noticed that it was warned at the beginning about the changes, I just didn’t notice till after I finished the story. In this story their names have suddenly been changed to Brylee and Puck. I was slightly confused on whether it’s a mistake or just changes of names as they are referred by the different names throughout the whole story.
The chemistry between Nate and Tora is clear to see and I love them as a couple. I liked that Tora had Nate’s back throughout. My heart ached for Tora when Nate made the decision he made. That being said, I understood why he did what he did.
I liked that Tora became a little reckless due to Nate’s decision. She was determined to show Nate that she made reckless decisions on her own.
I really disliked Tora’s father. I wanted to kick him for the way he treated and spoke to Tora and her mother.
The storyline is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

In my opinion I feel like I’m reading about the average rich persons life that has a few too many dramas occurring. I personally would’ve stopped at the first book and kept it with a HEA rather than continuous down this soap drama type of vibe. The name of the book screams the outcome of the book before I even started. Hurt = Heartbreak. I feel like the only reason I am reading this book is because I am committing to the series rather than out enjoyment.

I started getting frustrated because I felt like drama was spurting out of anywhere but not really being for filled. For example, a character having a pregnancy scare = meh minor. Like brooooo that could be a whole ass drama but it was so looked over because it wasn’t in the direct line of the MC. Tora is very much a self centred trust fund kid who just happens to get herself involved in the local bad boy who loves cars and fights. They don’t glue like a typical romance couple should but then again maybe opposites attract.

My main irks:
* There was no suspense or apprehension with Nate’s dad secretly fathering another woman’s child resulting in Nate and Jesse having a half sibling.
* Tora’s dad reappearing in the book with no reasoning, no dive into his job in London or backstory into something that could’ve been possible.

Broken Hill Hurt is the third installment in the Broken Hill High series by Sheridan Anne. Like the previous two in the series, I read an advanced copy of this book so this review, of course, will be based on that rather than any finalized version or edits that may occur between now and publication. Anyway, Hurt picks up where Halo left off. Tora, Nate and the rest of the gang are now at the halfway point of senior year. Thoughts of the impending future are suddenly becoming the omnipresent lens from which they view everything else and I’m not gonna lie, it gets kind of heavy. You know that feeling you get when you look back on a time when you thought you were so smart and mature and knew exactly what you were doing but now recognize that you were really just young and stupid and oh so unnecessarily extra? A lot of this book kind of feels like that lol. Nevertheless, I’m still rooting for our hero & heroine. If you and I made it through the seismic shift that encompasses that whole stage of life, I’m confident our Nate & Tora will, too.

>Book Review – Broken Hill Hurt
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Broken Hill High series and ends in a cliffhanger. This book has the most angst so far. Nate breaks up with Tora in order to protect her future, even though he is deeply in love with her and her with him. There is a lot more real danger in this book. Tora acts out, accidentally putting herself in danger. She jumps in to fights, starts illegally racing, goes to unsafe parties and really drinks too much.
>Jesse shows himself to be a true friend, always a buffer between Nate and Tora and always there for Tora when she needs help. Nate notices everything about Tora, even though he is trying to distance himself. He even makes sure she has food when she forgets to eat. This book seems very realistic. Relationships are not always smooth sailing and sometimes people are bad for each other. I do hope that Nate and Tora get back together and thrive. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars.

I loved book 1&2 and fell in love with Tora and Nate's love story. I was hesitant to read book 3 based on the prologue (I didn't want to see them break up) but it was done tastefully and made me fall in love with Nate more on how much he loves Tora. I wish Tora remained a little more on the sweet/nice side (I love a bad boy/good girl romance). I'm so happy with the ending and can't wait until book 4- I hope they get back together and he changes for her to prove to her dad how much he loves her (but still remains loyal and a little badass with his friends), and they stay together forever! Some of the things these kids do to each other seem a little extreme but definitely keeps you turning the pages. Next I'd love to see a Jesse romance (I love how sweet and loyal he is). Keep writing and bring on the rest of the series-waiting anxiously!!!

I listened to the audible version of this story and it was good. I don't care for the retelling of what's already happened since the books must be read in order so that just makes part of the story seem a bit redundant. I was hoping that Tora would do a little less crying in this story but it seems as if she's always crying, having sex or rebelling. This is a true high school read so when it comes to that, this story does not disappoint. Tora is constantly putting herself in danger in more ways than one and although I don't agree with Nate's view of how he's affecting Tora, I understand that he wants better for her. However, I don't see him as the bad guy even though Tora's dad does. This story has drama, sex, drugs, a pregnancy scare, revenge, rebellion, attempted murder and so much more. I'm looking forward to the next story.

“... and the way he loves me? Makes me feel like the only girl in the world.” —Tora

Another fast-paced dramatic one. This installment has Tora acting a lot more like the teenager she is—packed with angst, bad decisions, fights with parents, rebellion, etc. It’s a fun read. This one did feel more like “kid stuff” than her books usually do, as usually her leads—even the teenagers—are contending with adult-style problems. It wasn’t a bad way to spend an installment though, as it made it all a bit more plausible as a whole.

It also has some major ‘Twilight’ vibes—whichever installment Edward dumps Bella and she just goes crazy and yearns for him for 2 hours. But in a more contemporary setting. And there’s nothing wrong with this, as it was fairly juicy.

Audio:
The narrator, as always, did a fantastic job. Overall sound quality is great, there was just one little hiccup.

A new page loaded with emotions
Spoiler episode 2
I found this episode very good, a real roller coaster in emotions as the tensions have increased ( relational tensions and physical tensions).
The narrative evolves with the relationship of Nate and Tora because the accumulation of conflicts within the high school, but also the various groups begin to play on the results of Tora and Nate seems the designated culprit. Nate must decide what will be his position to help Tora to enter the college. However, Tora does not agree that everyone decides for her and she chooses her way. To this is added the various twists and the aggressions.
In short, it was exciting :)

Tora has let her grades slip, she's getting into more trouble and when her dad resurfaces, he makes his feeling known about her relationship with Nate. Nate, the sweet bad boy, trying to keep Tora from getting into even more trouble, ends things. Is it true? Do all good things come to an end? Is their journey together really over? NOWAY!!! This one is filled with angst and so much love, it'll have you remembering your first.....everything. Enjoy it. If you haven't read Broken Hill High or Broken Hill Halo, do yourself a favor and pick them up. This is one series you don't want to miss!

Why must there be such a dramatic cliff hanger like that?!?!?! How the heck am I suppose to go the next few days, dying to read what happens next?? ITS PURE TORTURE!!! I was so excited that Tora is a lot more feisty in this book and loves to challenge Nate. However, WTF Nate?! Get your head out of your ass and man up!

This book was an emotional roller coaster, and I loved it, except for the cliffhanger at the end, mostly because I now have to wait for the next book to come out. I 100% recommend this read, but personally I would wait until the next book is already out so that you don't have to wait FOREVER to find out what happens next!
