Alexis Parker is back. This time she faces off against organized crime, a group of kidnappers, and a serial killer. This set contains novels 4-6: Suspicion of Murder, Racing Through Darkness, and Camels & Corpses.
Suspicion of Murder: In a single moment, Alexis Parker is transformed from private investigator to cold-blooded killer. With a bullet lodged in her side and a corrupt cop determined to silence her, she's forced to do the one thing she never imagined - she must run. But running only makes her look guiltier.
When she signed on to safeguard her client's nightclub from thieves, she never thought she would be wanted for murder. The only proof of her innocence is the bullet she carved out of her flesh, but it might not be enough. Fortuitously, she encounters a man who promises to make her problems go away. He has evidence that can exonerate her, except it comes at a price. How much will Alex pay to get her life back?
Racing Through Darkness: No matter how far or fast I run, some things are inescapable. My past is one of them. After everything that happened, I thought I was done. Then the phone rang, and all hell broke loose.
While away at a business conference, Alexis Parker receives word her friend was shot and his niece was kidnapped. The police department is unaware of the situation, and time is running out. The kidnappers demand two million dollars and expect payment in forty-eight hours, but paying the ransom is impossible.
Forced to work with a questionable ex-SAS operative whose business card now reads K&R specialist, Alex must reconcile with her inner demons and come to terms with who she is and exactly what she's capable of doing. There are no holds barred when it comes to rescuing innocent children, but after some lines are crossed, the damage can never be undone. Are some costs too great?
Camels and Corpses: Fast cars, a little grand theft auto, and blending in with the wrong kind of crowd, it's just another day in the life for private investigator Alexis Parker. A dozen cars have been stolen, and Alex is hired by a high-end firm to identify the thieves and put an end to the spree. Just when Alex is moments away from busting the car thieves, one of the stolen vehicles is found at the scene of a double homicide.
The deeper Alex digs, the more complicated the case becomes. Instead of just a few GTAs, there is a killer for hire on the loose, and a cop from her past ends up in his crosshairs. Alexis Parker must hunt the hunter. He's eluded Interpol and the European authorities. Now he's here. His identity is unknown. His contracted targets are unidentifiable, and his method for killing is gruesome, dehydrating and then drowning his victims so their remains resemble human soup. The only name they have for him is the Camel. It's a battle of wits that requires Alex to be at the top of her game if she hopes to survive.

Alex leads a complicated and dangerous life, always getting injured in the line of duty, but somehow managed to work through the pain to get the job done. The cooperation with police, federal and international agencies is a bit stretched, and the relationship with Martin somehow survives. Some of the characters in this book, and the plot, are a little obscure. After following the story through almost to the end, I was a little disappointed that the conclusion of the case was in summary form. It went for real time action to ......and so this, and that etc. moving from a story to a few pages of wrapping up. There is no explanation as to why The Camel did what he did, and the issue of leaving car parts, and having to purchase stolen cars does not gel. Why not just buy the appropriate parts from a car dealer or a wrecker? However,I will move onto book #7
This was a great collection of fast paced, complex, and suspenseful stories with intriguing twists. I enjoyed Alexis' character a lot more in these stories than I did in the first collection. She's still brash, prone to turning simple cases into complicated one's (as well as lots of bad luck! Lol!). However, so much has changed since the beginning, which has led to her opening up to her boyfriend and friends, being more willing to compromise, and more. It's made her character easier to understand, even though she still does a lot of things that get her into trouble. It's a terrific series that you won't want to miss. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
This 3-book set includes Suspicion of Murder, Racing Through Darkness, Camels and Corpses. Alex and Martin are surrounded by violence and danger with shootouts, mafia connections, corruption, murder, shady deals, many suspects, undercover roles, a plethora of interesting cast members, kidnapping, mercenaries, international crimes, deception, grand theft auto, and an action-packed story with some humor thrown in.
I love to read a good book that keeps me guessing, worrying over Alexis, the strong, beautiful, so intelligent, and not afraid of anything super hero! Looks like I’m going to read the whole series!
Storyline too long and characters names became confusing. Just didn’t get to the point without so much rambling about who was who and how they were connected!
Wonderful books to read and enjoy. Alex Parker being herself and gets in trouble taking things into her own hands. But, with her friends helping her out, the bad guys get caught most of the time. Love these novels.
