Excellent Science Fiction

Despite some typos, I enjoyed this story immensely. Adeola is a great main character whose journey is both interesting and profound. The world-building is vivid, and I especially liked the ever-more-complex political intrigue.
I also appreciate that this book has a clear sense of closure even though the story obviously continues in later books.
I will likely be reading more of these.

This is such a unique blend of sci-fi and fantasy with the best of both. I loved Adeola and her pluck. Pap Pap won my heart from the first nip LMAO. There is a real adventure, trial by fire sort of feel to Adeola's thread, while the alternating perspectives delve into the society, adding a beautiful richness to the world. I can't wait to read more in this series.

Willing to Prove Herself

Don’t let the cover fool you, this is an epic coming-of-age story. I could easily imagine this being made into a movie with the levels of complexity in the society, the richness of the history, and the relationships between the people. From the very first pages, I was drawn into the story.

I loved how Adeola knew she wanted something different for her life than that of a privileged royal daughter. She was willing to risk everything to stand up for what she believed. She was willing to face adversity, hatred, sorrow, and test friendships head-on to prove to herself and others that she was going to make a difference in other people’s lives.

What’s coming up next for Adeola? I look forward to continuing on with this series to find out! I highly recommend this book!

One of my new favorite series. I love the dynamics of the characters and Adeola’s storyline. I agree with another reviewer about the covers; the artwork might put off some readers, but the story within is just so good. The writing and adventures will make you fans, I promise.
