Sweet Mountain RomCom #3

Meddling Billionaire Brother

Rate this book
She’s just what he needs to mend his broken heart. Too bad they can’t stand each other.

Jordan Thomas is only in Sweet Mountain, Montana to make amends with her brother, Ethan, but when she discovers that town bad guy Carter Pittman is pulling a fast one on the elderly proprietor of Pinecrest Lodge she vows to take action. After all, she is a private investigator and if the lame town sheriff isn’t going to do something she isn’t about to sit by and watch someone else be taken advantage of. She knows all too well how that feels.

Sheriff Jake Lincoln has been working long and hard to put away Carter Pittman, but getting the evidence against him requires time and patience. When newbie private investigator Jordan Thomas starts nosing around, he is not happy. It doesn’t help at all that Jordan is sister to his Ranger buddy Ethan. Or that she’s drop dead gorgeous.

He’s heard about the trouble between the two of them and knows she’s not to be trusted. Jake’s been burned before so he’s not letting Jordan in. Not to investigate the problem and certainly not with his heart.

This is the third book in the Sweet Mountain Billionaires series but you can read this one without reading books one and two. The billionaire referred to is Ethan, whose story is in book one Jaded Billionaire, and this book is about his sister, Jordan.

Jordan Thomas only came to the small town of Sweet Mountain, Montana to make amends with her brother. But when she hears about all the trouble Ruby, the owner of the Pinecrest Lodge, has been having she decides to use her PI skills to help out the sweet, elderly woman.

Jake Lincoln's the sheriff of Sweet Mountain. He and his deputy have been trying to put Carter Pittman in jail, but they haven't been able to get anything solid on him, although they know he's behind all the problems Ruby's been having at the lodge. Jake doesn't need, or want, Jordan's investigating to tip off Carter Pittman when they're so close to finding out what he's up to.

Despite their denials, Jordan and Jake are attracted to each other, but because their respective exes did a number on them they both have trust issues. The problem is they don't know about each other's exes and what happened. Jake has trouble reconciling what he thinks he knows about Jordan with the woman he's coming to know. They need to learn to trust again and that can't happen if they don't talk about things other than what's going on on Carter Pittman's property.

I really like suspense and romantic suspense. I liked that this book had quite a bit of suspense in it and it wasn't just about the romance. We find out more about Jake and the mystery of what's been going on with Carter Pittman is solved. A lot of the main characters from the previous books are in this one--Ruby, Lily, Tonya, Brady, Ethan, and of course Wookie, Lily's Pekingese. This book is told from Jordan and Jake's points of view which I enjoyed.

This is a clean romance. I offered to read this for the author but pre-ordered a copy of the book from Amazon. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received a copy from the author to read and give a review.
This is the 3rd book in a series, but is a stand-alone novel.
It's well written clean romance, with no foul language or adult content.
It has great locations that are nicely described, and wonderful characters that likeable and well developed.
I truly enjoyed reading this novel, and the series as a whole.
One of my favorite authors, no matter which name she is writing under.

This is the third book in the Sweet Mountain Billionaires series.
Ethan Thomas is a billionaire who is living at Pinecrest Lodge in Greendale, Sweet Mountain territory. He does not want anyone to know he is a billionaire. His sister, Jordan Thomas is at Pine Crest trying to repair the relationship between her brother and herself. The relationship was severly damaged by Jordan's previous boyfriend, Chris, who had been telling Jordan tales of woe and asking for money for Jordan. When Jordan found out she kicked Chris to the curb. Jordan is a Private Investigator and a Photographer. When she finds out that Carter Pittman has been causing damage to Ruby Burrows' cabins. Ruby and her husband, Geoffrey, created Pine Crest Lodge 51 years ago. After Geoffrey passed away, Ruby has attempted to do everything to maintain the cabins.
Sheriff Jake Lincoln and his deputy, Brady Denton, have been trying to find something to put Carter in jail. Their previous raid only landed Carter's son in prison.
Jake is still recovering from a nasty divorce and at Jordan's first introduction to him, he thinks she is everything she is not.
When Jordan finds an aerial printout of Carter's property, she takes it to Jake too show him what she thinks might be something on Carter's land. Because of the bond between Jake and Ethan he doesn't want anything to happen to Jordan so he decides to go with her to have a look.
This is a little bit mystery and a little bit romance. A must read for those cozy mystery readers.
I received an ARC. This is my voluntary review of this book.

It's been a while since I have read a romance story. I was given an ARC of this book to read/review. I never like to start a series a few books in, so I read books 1 & 2 before this one. They can all be read as stand alones, but you get more character background if you read them in order. I really enjoyed this series. The setting, characters & story are well written. You can almost picture yourself there with them. I hope that there are more books coming for this series. I will definitely read them.

I normally like these sweet romances Annie Dobbs puts out, but this one was sub-par. The characters were a bit flat, and the plot didn't interest me as much as the first two. Admittedly, it is a cozy-style book, so I am looking at this as a light read. However, Jordan seemed to have more spunk than the Dobbs allowed her to act out. Jake kept mentioning her steely gray eyes, and it just seemed as if Jordan just mushed over in front of him. In the end, she does have some steel nerves, but it seemed as if it took the entire book to get there, when it appeared as if it was there all along. Also, since I've read the series right along, I was thinking Jake was going to end up with a really special girl with two novels of build-up, yet Jordan just didn't seem all that special. I normally really enjoy these books, but this one just wasn't up to par. Perhaps it was because Jill Snow isn't part of it? In any case, I will think twice about the next book in the series when it comes out.

Jordon accepted an invitation to visit her bother Ethan, at the Pinecrest Lodge. They had been apart for more than a year because of her ex-boyfriend had talked her brother out of money for himself saying it was for Jordon. She is trying to repair the rift between them.
Jordon is a PI in her professional life. She was interested in the sabotage to Ruby’s camp grounds. Like most people in town she wanted to help Ruby get the campground going again. Her brother and Brady, her brother’s best friend, were working to get the place fixed up. They had found cut water lines, a bridge cut where it would have killed someone. Jake the sheriff, and Brady’s boss was investigating the incidents at the campgrounds. Brady, an ex-DEA agent had gotten Carter Pittman’s farm searched. They had found weed and a processing area. Carter’s son took the fall and went to prison, but things are still happening around the campground.
Jordon tells Jake she is investigating Carter and they agree to work together to find out what is happening on the mountain. Jake and Jordon become close during the investigation.
This is a great story you will not want to miss. As in all the books written by Annie Dobbs, it is a great read.

Romantic suspense. The campground works its magic once again.

The title of the book suggests a billionaire romance, but it’s not. It’s romantic suspense. And suspense, this author is good at! Really good.

Ruby, the owner of Pinecrest Lodge and the sweetest old lady Jordan had ever met, was in trouble. Sabotage. Jordan wants to help, but both her brother Ethan and Sheriff Jake tell her to leave it alone. Jordan and Jake are undeniably attracted to each other, but… Jordan’s ex taught her not to trust men. Jake’s ex taught him not to trust women. Jordan is determined to think the worst of Jake. Jake is determined to think the worst of Jordan. She must’ve known what her ex was up to, he reasons. He doesn’t want her interference in his investigation.

Dual POV Jordan and Jake.

I had expected more romance, less suspense. But I really liked it. Jordan was a bit of an enigma, with her being shy and unsure one moment, defiant and argumentative the next, but that only made her all the more real. No woman is one-sided after all. I grew to love both Jordan and Jake. <3

Billionaire Brother is Book 3 in the Sweet Mountain Billionaires Series. This is a stand alone book and one does not need to read the first two books to enjoy this book, but they are equally as great.

Jordan Thomas is in Sweet Mountain, Montana to make peace with her brother Ethan but when she discovers that town bad guy Carter Pittman is trying to take advantage of the elderly, she tries to but into Sheriff Jake's investigation

This is a great romance with a hint of mystery. I loved the characters in this book and the setting is really fun. The plot is well thought out and flows very easily. If your looking for a sweet romance with an element of mystery, you will love this book as much as I did !

Meddling Billionaire Brother is the 3rd book in the Sweet Mountain Billionairs series, but I agree with some other reviewers that this one could definitely be read as a standalone. I enjoyed getting reacquainted with the characters from the previous books, as well as meeting the new players. I love the author's descriptions of the mountains and scenery, and the story is a good cozy mystery as well as romance. Fun, easy read that I really enjoyed.

When Ethan's sister Jordan comes to visit, she wants to help him to make right a situation her former boyfriend created, she feels the best thing she can do is use her PI license to help take down the man who is felt to have caused issues for Ruth ,owner of Pinecrest Lodge. Pinterest Lodge has a reputation of people falling in love.... Will love find Jordan??? What about the bad guy??? Well worth the read! This is the third book in the series, but reads fine as a stand alone.

In this book, Ethan's sister Jordan is in town and is intent on finding evidence to take down the man responsible for sabotaging Ruby's Pinecrest Lodge. Ethan doesn't want her involved at all. Then we have Jake, the sheriff in town, who would also prefer she wasn't involved in the case, but unexpected feelings get in the way. It's a sweet romance, fun to read.

I loved this book! This series gets better and better. The characters are great, the story is intriguing, and having a little romance doesn't hurt either. Here's hoping that there might be a fourth book in the series!

This is an enjoyable romance with a good suspense story underpinning the interactions between Jake and Jordan as they struggle to admit how they feel about each other. The book is well written and leads to a satisfying conclusion, with twists and turns along the way. I had not read others in this series but this was not an issue and it is fine to read as a standalone romance.

This is the 3rd book of the Sweet Mountain Billionaires series. The premise of the series is that single guests who stay at Sweet Mountains’ Pinecrest Lodge do not stay single. Even if they aren’t looking for love! Although you can read this book as a standalone, I highly encourage you to read the first two, just because they are so darned good!
This book introduces us to Jordan Thomas, the sister of the hero of the first book, Ethan. Ethan and Jordan have been estranged for several years, and have recently put the past behind them in order to mend their relationship. This is why the town’s sheriff, Jake Lincoln, thinks Jordan is just like his cheating ex-wife. Of course, by the time Jake figures out that Jordan is a not that type of person, Jordan has doubts about Jake. The only thing better than watching them work through their misconceptions about each other is watching them work together to take down the town’s bad guy, Carter Pittman. Pittman has been sabotaging the owner of Pinecrest Lodge for reasons we have yet to determine in the first two books, and it is quite satisfying to see Jordan and Jake work to take him down.
I can’t wait until book 4 to see if Pittman ends up behind bars for a long time, or if he finds a way to weasel out of trouble! Overall, this was the best of the three books, which just keep getting better. I love the strong characters, the mystery and action of the storyline, but I especially love watching Pinecrest Lodge works it magic.
