You can hardly ever go wrong with everyone's loveable monkey! In this adventure he accidently makes a stain on the Man's carpet. He tries to clean it up before the Man gets back home.

Curious George books are simple life lessons (usually) for young children. If ever you don't know what book to pick up to read to your child you can't go wrong with a Curious George book. And generally there is a book to cover just about any situation your child is going through.

I read Curious George books as a young child, and read them to my children and now am sharing them with my granddaughter as well.... stories to share with generations! These 'newer' issues are more based upon the television episodes they are almost word for word per the episodes. However at the end of each book there is a Science lesson for the older children that can understand and follow I like that.

I picked this book out at my school's library. I like these books because I watched the television show with my grandpa. George is pretty silly in this one - when he gets a juice stain on the new rug, he cleans it with lots of soapy water!

One of our favorite episodes adapted into a book. Admittedly I wish they had added more of the story-line, but screencaps from the episode used in place of regular illustrations are darling.

Curious George Cleans Up is a picture book. This book is intended for children four to seven years old. Although the book was not an award winner curious George has been adapted into an Emmy-winning television show on PBS. In this book George is very excited about a new rug that he just got until he spilled grape juice on it. George tries everything that he can to try and clean the stain. I rated this book four out of five stars. I gave it this rating because the concept of the book was well thought of. It is a topic that children can relate to. I think that it is a good way to encourage children to clean up after themselves after they make a mess. Curious George is a funny book that is meant to also teach children a lesson. I did not give this book five stars because although George cleans the stain he did not do it in the best way. Children are very impressionable and some may see how George cleaned and follow some of what he did. The illustrations are very detailed and the colors are very bright. This book is appealing to young readers because they are interesting to the child and teach them a simple life lesson. I might use this specific curious George book when trying to teach students how to clean up after themselves.

This Curious George book is a derivative work based on a teleplay based on a children's picture book classic character. It feels so far removed that its actually kind of fresh in a way. As I sit and read this to my 3 year old, it terrifies me that he is going to play monkey see - monkey do with this. In this case any day now I can expect him to dump grape juice all over the carpet, mix multiple soaps into it (dangerous by the way), stick the garden hose through the house window, flood the living room, and steal a water pump from a nearby farm. The content of the book was questionable and felt like a lot of formulaic filler, but I did enjoy the problem-solving piece at the end. There are a couple of simple recommended science experiments that can be done too. If I were the target audience of being a 1st year reader, I'd probably rate this much higher.

Stephen Krensky, Curious George Cleans Up (Houghton Mifflin, 2007)

Krensky's “cine-manga”-style adaptation of another Curious George TV episode (viz. review of Curious George Takes a Trip, above) at least does a better—much, much better—job at keeping pace with the episode it's adapting, but once again I couldn't help feeling they would have done better to make these twenty-four page books forty-eight and add a bit more of the episode in. The story here is at least coherent, but there's still too much left out for any of the humor to land correctly, especially the cow bits towards the end; they definitely have an “it's in the episode so it needs to be here” feel without anyone seeming to have considered the emotional thrust. Nothing here is going to make anyone laugh. Watch the episode instead (the entire Curious George animated series is a Netflix streaming mainstay). **

This is a short Curious George book about a mess he makes on the brand new carpet. Of course the mess was an accident and George tries cleaning it up, and being the George we all know he brings the hose in the house in trying to do so. George makes a bigger mess in trying to clean the original mess, I think that the theme would be best described as asking for help. When I was reading the book, I asked the young boy I was reading it to if he would ask for help. This book is best for young children pre-elementary and early elementary.

'Curiously', this book matches up with the only modern televised episode of Curious George I've seen. I will say that I found the book slightly less annoying than the television show, but that was mainly because my Kindergarten Kid could read most of it by himself.
