I love anything that Micalea Smeltzer writes. I have read just about every one of her books and loved them all. After reading Wild Collision I could not wait for Kira and Rush’s story. They are two people that are very guarded but the connection between them is undeniable. They have their own thing going on that is nothing more than sex and a good time. The two of them together are fund and sexy but when their life takes a different turn that either one of them expected, it is time for them to get real. They both need to face their past and demons before they can even think about moving forward with each other. They have so many obstacles standing in their way, one of them being themselves. They must ace their pasts and their fears in order to have a happy future.
I loved these characters but for me this one just didn’t do it for me like that rest of Micalea’s books have. I felt the connection sexually but there were times when I just wished for more. I wanted to feel, not just see more of the emotional connection between them. I enjoyed the book and the characters but it was not one of my favorites.

Nothing worth having is easy to get to. And love is the most coveted thing in the world. One must wade through the ugliness that exists in each of us, uncertainties, silence, hopelessness, all while our own demons whisper we don't deserve it, to get to that shining hill of union and belonging that makes life worth living. The elixir of life can only be attained by those innocuous beings who actually believe they can change and keep going at it through their sincere efforts. And it is SO worth it.
My favorite passage from the book when the H is describing his addiction:
"I became dependent on a substance instead of myself and I was completely oblivious to the hold it had on me"
That statement rings so true. Only someone who is an empath could've written that. I have much respect for the author, you've done a great job Ms. Smeltzer

Wild Flame by Micalea Smeltzer was an emotionally intense story with a lot of witty humor that captivated my heart! The moment I opened this story I knew that I wasn't going to be able to put it down until I reached the very end because I was hooked right away. This story was not like I originally expected it to be, but I think that's why I couldn't get enough of it. Sure it wasn't what I thought it would be...it was so much better! I absolutely adored Rush and Kira so freaking much and I inhaled the author's beautiful words. She is such an incredible storyteller that her words leap right off the pages and I feel as if I am experiencing the story through the eyes of the characters. These characters are uniquely dynamic and one of a kind. There was just so much to love about their romance.
Readers this story is a MUST READ and if you are a fan of Micalea Smeltzer's Willow Creek series, then you are going to fall head over heels in love with The Wild series! Make sure to one click your copy today!!!

Knew I was going to love Rush from chapter one, "he grins up at me. “You didn’t accidentally fall on my ***k,” he reminds me." Rush doesn't apologize for who he is the man owns it, "I hop out and jog around to help Kira out. She gives me a disgruntled look when I grope her *** as I help her down. “I can only be so much of a gentleman,” I tell her with a shrug, locking the truck behind us." Rush likes to make sure his woman is taken care of, “to feed you, woman,” I declare. “You have to eat, and I’m going to feed you.” I liked this book, I loved seeing the gang agaun and I especially loved Rush.

Steamy and hot, so not a disappointing book at all!
Omg I’m in love with this book, it was really really good. Rush and Kira’s story was full speed ahead with so many ups and downs from the very first page to the last. And I’m telling you, it is not disappointing at all. To see the loss and tragedy that Rush had gone through and what Kira’s life was like growing up breaks your heart. It really shows you why they are the way they are and what makes them go together so well.
Both Rush and Kira are so much alike, and the more they are together the more close they become even though they won’t admit it.
Both Kira and Rush always want control, why, because if they have control then they can’t get hurt.
The only thing is, they just need to realize it’s ok to let go, to trust, or to take chances. If they do, they’ll see it will be ok.
With Rush, he is tough silly and a little bit of a jokester, but I’m sure that’s his way of covering up and hiding all his pain and anger he holds deep inside. If he could just let it all go he would be so much happier. I’m just glad he has his best friends/band mates and basically brothers there for him always. If he didn’t have them there to help keep him straight he would be a lot worse and even a bigger mess than he is.
“Caaannnnnooon,” I drawl out his name. “Ahoy, my man. Come to hang out?” “I’ve come to take your ass back to the hotel to sober up.” “Ach, I don’t need to sober up. I’m dandy. Having a spanking good time.” He raises a brow. “Ye can grab a drink. There’s one left. Malibu, gross.” “Rush?” he asks hesitantly. “How drunk are you?” I push air out through my lips. “Drunk? Not at all.” “Is that so?” “Aye.” “Are you a fucking pirate?” “Arrr, me hearty.” “Fuck.” “Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me,” I sing, tossing my now empty plastic bottle on the floor. I start drumming again, bobbing my head to the beat. My stomach rolls, but I don’t care. If I vomit all over my drum set it won’t be the first time. Cannon starts picking up the trash. “Stop drumming, Rush. I’m taking you to the hotel.” “No, ye can’t make me.” “Is that so, Captain Jack Sparrow?” “Aye.” “Why do I always have to clean up everyone’s mess,” he grumbles to himself. “No one asks you to.”
“I have nothing worthwhile to give this world,” I sigh, tilting my head up toward the mirrored ceiling—bad idea as my stomach rolls. “Is that what you really think?” he asks, his mouth parted in horror. A second passes, two, three. “It’s what I know.”
And Kira, she has some sass and spunk and will tell you like it is attitude. She and Rush are so much alike. But when it comes to Kira, and guys she is only a one and done girl. Which for her is control, and if she has all the control and makes up all her own rules, then nobody will have the power to hurt her. And like Rush and his friends there is one person and only one person she does lets in, and that’s her best friend Mia. Mia, who is more like a sister than anything. And like Rush, she really is lucky to have Mia as a true friend. If she didn’t have Mia, she probably would be like Rush, a big mess.
“Sorry, Kira. Guess, I’m not allowed to spill the beans.” In two seats across the aisle from us Cannon and Fox sit. Fox leans over and says, “I’ll tell you.” Rush presses a hand to my chest, holding me against the seat so he can speak directly to Fox. “I’ll drop kick you so hard everyone will know what the fox says.” “An insult and a joke rolled into one. I’m impressed.” Fox smirks, fighting a laugh. “Leave him alone,” Cannon warns in his tone that brooks no room for argument. “If he wants it to be a surprise for her, let it be a fucking surprise.” “I feel like I’m being scolded by my father,” Fox grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest. “He’s a scary dude when he’s mad.”
Sadly the only thing both Rush and Kira don’t realize is that they’re only hurting themselves even more, by the way they don’t let people in. If they got the help they needed and learned to let go it would be so much better for them and they would feel so much better and be so much happier.
“Because, love is the only thing capable of redeeming even the darkest of souls.”
“I’m here, Rush. If you need to scream, then fucking scream. If you need to get angry, get angry. If you need to cry, then cry. Let it out. You owe it to yourself. Emotions demand to be felt and when you smother them that’s when they turn and suffocate you instead.”
This book had me so hooked with every emotion and even a few tears. So much that I didn’t want it to end, lol. Now I’m just praying Micalea, adds more to this series like a book for Cannon and one for Fox. All the characters are so great you just can’t go without having a story for them.

Great continuance in the Wild series!
I’m a big fan of this author, and love all the books I’ve read. This book for me wasn’t great, it was good. I felt like the main characters were too stuck on their pasts and continued to remind us how crappy their pasts were. I understand Rush’s pain and his turn to alcohol, but I think Kira’s pain was so blah. Some people are dealt bad cards from the beginning and I understand she had to learn how to cope and love on but I felt like half the book was a big pity party for her. Again, I liked the book just not the whole story.

Wow!
As with Wild Collusion, Micalea took us on a roller coaster of emotions. What a great story and the way everything played out was awesome. I’ll be honest and say that it did drag a bit, but in the end it was worth it. Hopefully we’ll get to see what happens with the rest of the band! The name chosen for the baby was awesome- all the kids I know (I’m a teacher) with the same name are amazing!

Wow
I truly love rush And kira’s story. There were parts where I laughed, cried crocodile tears, and truly felt despair. That just goes to show you what an excellent book this is. When it affects someone that greatly it’s a must-read. I have to say that I was team rush all the way at times truly despising Kira. I love the way Michaela brings in the characters from the past books. Please Michaela please give us more from this group, I would love to read Canon and fox’s story

You're gonna love it
Kira and Rush were so likeable and funny in Wild Collison that when they got their own book I was in. Their story wasn't an easy one but their growth was amazing. They even left me crying a few times. Looking forward to the other guy's stories, especially Cannon.

Unexpected is what I'd label this book. I never thought I would like Rush and Kira this much but I do. The depth in both characters but especially Rush was interesting and the growth felt organic. I hope we get Cannon and Fix too.

This gets 5 stars for being so addictive. There were so many things happening on so many levels and emotions ran high. Some things seemed to resolve easier than I thought they would, but the enjoyment I got from Kira and Rush's story made the imperfections easy to overlook.

All the feels
This book definitely had all the feels. It was the perfect story watching two broken people find their way to love.

Loved it!
I laughed. I cried. I screamed. So many emotions in this book. I thought I loved Mia and Hollis... But Kira and Rush... Such a good story.

I loved Mia and Hollis but Rush and Kira totally took my heart and ran away with it. Both are so similar and stubborn but I’m glad they found common grounds. They both deserved so much happiness.

I’m always excited to read a new book from this author and I’ve read all her contemporary books and the majority of her paranormal books! I also loved the first book in this series, so I was excited for this book, especially because the main characters story started in the first book! I then received an ARC of this book and made it my next read! After reading this book, I can say that I absolutely loved it! It took me about three sittings to read because I didn't want to put it down and the plot kept me interested and desperate to read on and find out what was going to happen next! The plot also developed at the perfect pace and there was a lot in it! There was also plenty of romance in this book and the romance allowed for a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters! The ending of this book was also left at the perfect place and was very beautiful! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Kira was the main female character, and in this book she was just having a bit of fun with her love interest and they both weren't interested in anything serious! Something than happened that changed everything for Kira and she had some big decisions to make! I admired Kira a lot in this book because she did go through a lot, but she still worked hard and she was also in such a backwards and forward relationship with her love interest! I also connected with Kira all the way through this book! Rush was the main male character and love interest of Kira! I felt for Rush a lot in this book because he had experienced a lot of loss and he blamed himself and carried a lot of guilt, even though it wasn’t his fault at all! Kira helped Rush a lot in this book and she tried her best to be there for him! Rush helped himself a lot too and he took some big steps to help himself heal and help himself become a better person! This made me have a lot of respect for him! Rush also grew a lot in this book and his life also changed! It was easy to see his feelings for Kira develop as the plot progressed too! I loved that this book was written from the Kira and Rush’s point of views! I was expecting it to be written from dual point of view because the first book was! I’m really happy that this book was to because it helped me connect and understand Kira and Rush more and it allowed for more things to happen in the plot, especially as the main characters didn’t spend every minute of the book together and were going through their own situations and dealing with a lot separately! I now can’t wait to read the next book in this series! I’m loving this series so far and I can’t wait to find out who the next book is going to be about! I have an idea as to who the next book is going to be about, but I'll just have to wait and see! I'm not sure if the author is planning to release the next book in this series next or if she's got another release coming up first! I can't wait to read her next regardless! I also read this book just before the cover was revealed, and I love the cover for the first book, so I had high hopes for this cover! I love the cover for this book a lot! It suits the book and the cover models are the perfect Kira and Rush! Big thank you to Micalea for an ARC of Wild Flame!

Here's the problem, I love Micalea's books. Which is why I've read all of them. As I read this book all I could think about was Beauty in the Ashes and how much this book parallels to it. It made me on edge that Rush and Kira would end up the same way Sutton and Caelan did. I guess that's why even when everything was resolved I was still waiting for everything to fall apart. And speaking of Micalea's other books, if you've read Bring Me Back, you'll love seeing Blaire and Ryder with the Paper Crane Project.
I usually don't find Micalea's books as predictable as this one was. With the first four or so chapters only having sex (some of it almost too much for me and total cringey) it's pretty obvious how things are going to end up. But in a way it's redeemed because there's a period of time that it's unsure how Kira is going to handle things. If she had gone with her gut instinct to put an end to it and act like nothing happen, I would not have finished this book at all.
I'm surprised I didn't connect with Rush and Kira very much. There's a parts from their past that I could of really related to, but for some reason it just fell flat for me. Rush's past was really laid out in the open but Kira after everything is said and done, I feel like it wasn't really expounded on much.
Even with all of that I still enjoyed reading Rush and Kira's story. They fought hard to get to the place they ended up. It wasn't easy, but they did it in a really healthy way and I think that's why I can't completely write off this book. It would of been so easy to just write their story as falling in love and fixing all their messed up pieces, or simple just pushing all their problems to the way side. But that's not the case. They fell in love, and realized that they weren't in the healthiest places emotionally to be in a relationship, so they took a break and work on themselves in whatever way that worked for them. Not a lot of authors actually take the time to develop their characters like that.
This wasn't my favorite Micalea's books, but maybe that's because it just wasn't for me. Maybe it'll speak to someone else in a way it didn't for me. The good news is I'm still really looking forward to the rest of the series. Especially Cannon. ;)
P.S. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kira, college student with a tough past, just wanting to get laid
Rush, drummer in a band, tough past, just wanting to get laid...
Kira and Rush met through their friends, but decided to start up a 'friends with benefits' type situation. The two of them both not dealing with trauma in their pasts meaning they aren't able to, nor are they able to commit to a relationship, however their arrangement abruptly comes to a stop when Kira realises she's pregnant.
Kira has to face her troubling childhood and come to terms with her awful upbringing and Rush has to admit he has an issue with alcohol, stemming from the death of his parents eight years prior if the two of them want a chance at a relationship alongside raising their child together.
Will the two of them overcome their issues and find love? or will their demons ultimately get the better of them?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
This was a major slow burner, taking most of the book for their relationship to build, which I quite enjoyed.
There was zero of this book that I found unrealistic, which is rare when it comes to a pregnancy trope. I loved most of it, only rated a four star as I don't see myself reading again, but would give it 4.5 if I could.
The book mainly focused on the character build and their stories rather than the pregnancy itself, that was just the catalyst, so if you're looking for a heavily pregnancy oriented book, this isn't the one for you.

The book mainly focused on the character build and their stories rather than the pregnancy itself, that was just the catalyst, so if you're looking for a heavily pregnancy oriented book, this isn't the one for you.

I requested this book straight from the author since I am a total fangirl about the Willow Creek series. If you haven't read The Willow Creek Series--buy it! Now! Believe me you will not regret it. Both Willow Creek and The Wild series are rock star romances.
The Wild is a band that the guitarist, Joshua Hayes from Willow Creek is mentoring. I mean who else would you want as a mentor than a guitar God?
Sorry, it I hadn't stopped myself, I would've keep ranting about how great the guys from the Willow Creek series are. I told you that I fangirl with that series. I love that there are numerous scenes where the Willow Creek guys appear. EEP!!
Kira and Rush both have a past that's haunting them. The unexpected happens to them, first they have to deal with their own individual issues before returning to each other. Rush needs to come to terms with his demons and family issues. Kira needs to learn to trust especially men. That means confronting the one person she never thought she would.
The author addresses a few issues such as trust, parenting, alcoholism, and friendship through Kira and Rush. Beautifully composed...brilliant character development...terrific supporting characters. An emotional rollercoaster!
Fangirl Alert! Cameos from Willow Creek assist Kira and Rush with their transformations.

Kira Marsh and Rush Daniels both have a past they want to forget. They found something in each other, a quite unspoken comfort. Enjoying a friends with benefits relationship is all they will ever do. They both have to many broken pieces, that they vow never to get too close.
But Kira and Rush can only hide from the feelings they are developing for each other for so long. So it's easier to push each other away, before things get to complicated. But life has other ideas, and soon Kira and Rush will have to face all that is front of them and decide if they are strong enough to fight, for themselves and each other.
Each chapter of Wild Flame holds pain, struggles, healing and triumphs. With lots of laughs, banter, love and great friendship. Kira and Rush have so much to face in this book. They grow, fight and come out stronger than ever. It was raw, and real and makes you each emotion the characters do. I really loved this story, Kira and Rush have become a favorite of mine. This band, this family, is so much fun to experience. I can't wait to read even more about these four goofy, complicated, sexy guys, and the sassy, strong, women who steal their hearts.

I have read a few books by Micalea Smeltzer and this is by far my favorite. While this can be read as a stand alone I would suggest reading the first book in this series because it will give you a background to the major players in this story.
Rush and Kira are comfortable and confident in their current relationship. They are friends with all of the benefits without the long-term commitments. They both have dark pasts that have molded them into closed off and scared individuals. However, they soon realize that they are better together than apart. However, is it fair to task a partner to save you? This is the question both a challenged to face when life gets in the middle of their relationship.
Overall, this was a wonderful read that will make you laugh, cry, and swoon. Rush is not your conventional hero, but is a guy that you will be rooting for by the end. The book is told from both main characters’ perspectives, so readers are truly taken into their minds and experience. This is another great addition to Smeltzer’s catalog and is a book that is not to be missed!

Wild Flame was such an intense and good read! From the way it started off, I knew I was in for the ride. Rush and Kira have been through a lot in their lives and made them who they are today. They are so much alike so of course they had an intense chemistry. Their relationship suited them so when the unexpected happened, it was fascinating to read how they would handle it. I felt for these two. Their past was sad and tragic. But I was all in for Rush and Kira. I loved the time they spent together-the banter, the interactions-it was great. Though this was a book about a couple, it was also about Rush and Kira as individuals. I loved that and it really made them endearing to me. I also loved the brotherhood between the Wild Flame guys-it was heartwarming and fun. By the end of Wild Flame, I was in love with Rush. This book had it all-humor, sexy, sweet, angst, and of course the Willow Creek guys. I’m really interested in Cannon and Fox and I’m excited for who’s next. Their stories will be great for sure. #BlushForRush

Listen y’all it’s been a bit since I’ve had a book take me to this level. I had to take an emotional break from books for a week after I read this. Micalea is on top of her game once again. If you liked willow creek you’ll love everything about this series and especially Wild Flame. I cant say how much I love Rush and Kira. The fire between these two at first scared me. I was kind of fearing it would be a Beauty in the Ashes deal but was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. This book took me for a roller coaster of the good kind. Some of my fav characters from some of Micaleas other book made appearances that made me cry in the good way and I was so happy to see them again. But over all this is one of the best romances I’ve read in a very long time and I believe it will become a best seller very soon. You’ll be glad your read this book and joined the Wild gang.

For the first 40% of this book, I questioned the length. Everything I was reading could have easily been condensed into half the length, and frankly I began to get frustrated. I LOVE this author, and even though she talked about and explained her reasoning behind the length of the book on her FB pages, I just wasn't seeing it. Then I hit the 55-60% mark, and I got it - I got why there was so much information and detail and backstory. Because without all of that, it would have been impossible to FEEL what Rush and Kira went through as they fought the demons that held them back from truly living. As a reader, it made me appreciate the struggles and triumphs all that much more. AS a fan - it made me realize that I knew better than to question anything Ms. Smeltzer does. This was not your typical romance book by any means - it was so much more than that. It was 2 damaged souls fighting for their chance at a rebirth and redemption. And it was beautifully told.

This was such an emotional book about two very broken people. Rush has not accepted nor come to terms with his parents death, while Kira had a tough childhood that has affected her outlook on love. Both make a pack to sleep together, but not be in a relationship or get to know each other. Of course, that plan soon explodes. I love how they get to know learn about each other and come to care about each other, to slowly seeing them fall in love, even though Rush and Kira strongly deny their growing relationship. Of course there are bumps in their happily after and I enjoyed reading their hardships as well as how they overcome the obstacles they face. I don’t want to reveal what happens to each character, but they are huge and life altering. I loved how the supporting characters and the relationship Rush has with his band members. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This is such an amazing book! When you read this book be prepared to have all the feels and to feel every emotion humanly possible . Have tissues at the ready and you'll be laughing in the next minute. Micalea put so much depth and her heart and soul in this book and you can tell. I have never read a book that makes me feel the way this book and these characters made me feel. It keeps you hooked until the very end. If you enjoy characters that have been through things that normal people face in their lives you'll love Kira and Rush! They are perfectly imperfect and the kind of characters that are easy to relate to. They make it easy to fall in love with them and realize even the most messed up difficult people desire to be loved!

Okay! Okay! When I first added this book, I wasn't expecting so much- Something I always do when I start a book BUT this book, made me feel so many emotions. It made me Laugh, Angry, Ache and CRY. I love how it highlighted the importance of FRIENDSHIPS. It also shows and encourages people that a person can CHANGE. While reading this, you can feel the love between the Hero and Heroine- the tension, attraction, and dynamic.
4 stars because I wish the book highlighted more the Heroine's backstory/past but all in all, I encourage y'all to read this book.
You wouldn't regret reading this book. Search for TW!!
Happy reading!

Emotion beyond compare, witty humor, and some real life tough choices make this book hit my top-five favorite 2019 reads. Wild Flame hit me straight in the feels. Rush and Kira are an extraordinary couple, and they have that once-in-a-lifetime kinda love I only hope i'll experience in my own life. A must-must-MUST read for anyone that loved the Willow Creek or Light in the Dark series. Or if you just want a story to rip your heart out and slowly mend it back together. Fan-freaking-tastic story Micalea Smeltzer!

I absolutely loved Rush.
This book really takes you in an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed and cried. I loved we saw how Mia and Hollis were going and catching up with the willow creek gang. I'm so excited for Cannon's book along Fox's. Even though I loved this book Kira wasn't exactly my favorite person, (sorry) i understand she had a tough up bringing but the way she acted and what she said sometimes grated on my nerves. Whereas Rush even for all his faults and mistakes i still wanted to wrap him up in a giant hug.

4.5 stars
Rush Daniels, drummer for The Wild, and Kira Marsh, a college student working toward a nursing degree, are two damaged characters just getting through life. Both come from tragedies, intense and life changing. Although neither are looking for a relationship, or love, things don’t always work out like they plan. I loved these two characters, both together and apart. As damaged as they were, they needed the other to heal. I will admit this book is a little wordy, but otherwise it’s definitely a must read.
