Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.
Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.
Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.
This doesn't offer much on the Frank/Nancy front except solid teamwork, but it's actually a pretty fun adventure novel and that makes up for a lot. Fun read and the battered state of my copy that I have had since the 90s, leads me to think that I always thought that.
It isn't summertime without reading at least one Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys adventure. This one was a decent one but not my favorite - the mystery felt disjointed and odd but the storyline was still fun and we got some good #Francy banter.

Mini-review: I love these books. I love the dynamics between the characters. I love the flirtation between Nancy and Frank. They are a much better suited couple than Nancy and Ned, who can't seem to stop cheating on each other. Very glad it was George instead of Bess. The mystery was good, a rare one where I didn't solve it before the book ended. I did accidentally spoil myself though, which wasn't fun.

Austin Coach Pemberton - David Harbour Melissa Somers - Maude Apatow Curt Walker - Jordan Calloway Stasia Kominsky - Madeleine Arthur Dan Shimoya - Charles Melton Pete Shimoya - Ryan Potter Bill - Chris O'Donnell
This is my favorite Nancy Drew Series. The characters and plotline are better developed than the original Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon. This Carolyn Keene ghost writer has done an excellent job of incorporating humor, mystery and suspense into an awesome story. I would recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery.
I wanted to give more of the Nancy Drew spin offs a chance, but this just did not live up to the origonal characters. It was focused on the romances, and flirting, that sometimes the mystery got shoved to the side. I did like seeing Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys together.
This was an enjoyable action-adventure crossover story. I tend to find these books a fun light read. I kind of wish Nancy and the Hardy boys hadn't spent so much of the book apart, but I liked how full of action it was.
Nancy and George are on a high-adventure trip in Wyoming with a high school group. Little did they expect that the trip would filled with sabotage. The Hardy Boys are called in to help keep watch and they also get caught up in the sabotage. It started off great when reading about roughing it in the Rockies - something I would never do. However, as more of the mystery unfolded, the more unbelievable it became to the point it just became annoying.
Rating: 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4 because the beginning was good)
This book had a clever plot and exciting action scenes that makes readers turn each page eagerly to see what happens when nancy and the hardys are being chased down by mobsters! an excellent book i would recommend to any nancy drew and hardy boys fan!.
