On New Year, Lana, Honda and Yuki travel to the countryside to confront Honda's mother, a fierce elderly woman who quickly turns on Lana and accuses her to be nothing but the symptom of her son's midlife crisis. But it turns out that the head of the Honda's clan isn't the worst thing waiting for our trio in Nikko.
Lana's nightmare becomes reality. The evil plaguing her dreams finds her and brands her, threatening to destroy everything and everyone she holds dear. But Lana is done running and will stop at nothing to save her loved ones.
Pure joy and sweet bliss turns into utter horror and heartbreaking agony. Harrowing sacrifice allows a battered Lana and her mournful companions to begin a new life as a family. Healing is a slow process, though, and Lana battles with herself to understand her new identity and family dynamics.
But true deliverance and peace will come only when she confronts her real enemy.
***** Deliverance is the third book of the acclaimed Temper saga. It concludes this story-arc featuring a polyamorous FFM throuple battling against inner and literal demons, social and family pressure to live fully the powerful love they share.
The fourth book in the series, Vindicta, is a sequel that can be read as a standalone.
An avid reader of thrillers, science-fiction, horror and romance, I have been writing for nearly 25 years. Lila Mina is one of my pen names.
I am a firm believer in cross-genre literature. Life is too complex, too rich and surprising to limit stories to one genre only. I love blending genres to create powerful characters, emotional plots and exciting stories that hopefully will stay a long time with my readers. My stories feature multiracial couples and sometimes menage who come together, bound by love and passion, to fight against forces bent on taking them apart.
I live in Japan. The rich and beautiful traditions, the amazing nature and the long history of this country are a constant source of creative inspiration.
After more than two years of work, I will release the first book of my TEMPER saga in ebook and paperback in March 2019, and books 2 and 3 in May and July. I am actively looking for reviewers, so feel free to contact me to discuss about an eARC.
A highly explicit and sensual story with paranormal undertones, it is a tale of survival, resilience, personal growth, loyalty and unbreakable love between three unforgettable characters. It takes my readers along the transformative journey of self-discovery of Lana Martin.
Third installment completes the saga, but I wish and hope from the bottom of my heart that it’s not the last we hear about it. The truth is, regardless of how many prequels, sequels, one shots, etc. are added, it can never be enough of this extraordinary experience Lila Mina created for us. There are some fantasy, supernatural, paranormal stories I’ve enjoyed reading, some of them I loved. Now this here is not a fantasy, supernatural, or a paranormal story. It can’t be. It feels more realistic and natural than majority of the fiction I’ve come across. Mythology is a part of a culture and heritage, and the lines can be pretty blurred between the reality we settle for and what we believe in. Lila Mina awakened mythical elements and put them in the mix effortlessly. Even though they were announced at the beginning of the saga hinting a rough ride, It took almost 2 thirds of the entire saga to introduce them in their full form with intensity that makes the whole experience feel so real, almost palpable. When I read the last official line: “The End”, I realized I'd been in tears the entire last chapter. I was neither sad nor happy; the emotion is very much inexplicable. But it's not the emotion that caused my reaction. It's the intensity of the whole story, the intensity that reached insane levels in the last chapter, even though the chapter seemed like a settling down conclusion, happy on the surface. I always enjoy lingering between the lines and behind the words when I'm given a chance, searching for a deeper, hidden meaning, and emotional and mental gratification. Lila Mina hasn't only given me a chance to do that, she introduced a whole new dimension for me to explore, with a whole new magnitude of impact of a written word that will most likely shift and redefine my future preferences in book choices.
A very special an loud shout out to the artist who created fascinating covers for all 3 books :)
Oh. My. Goodness. What an amazing end to a spectacular story!
This one was the best yet. It delved so much more into the dark and intense emotions that it had me sitting on the edge of my nest (aka my bed of a thousand pillows and blankets). I laughed, I cried, I threw things, I cursed the author. And I wouldn’t change a thing. It took me to deep and powerful places.
LANA - This badass woman has had a hellish past to overcome and her fight is not over yet. As a parent myself, the utter heartache of knowing your baby is in trouble is just...I have no words. But Lila writes it perfectly.
Lana is tested to the absolute max but somehow manages to surpass everyone's expectations like a boss.
She also gets the closure that this poor woman has needed her entire life, and I can relate. I think that’s why this series touched me so much.
She finally knows her place in this final book and it is perfection. Her love for her husband and wife and their baby go beyond what most people in their world could comprehend. She falls down, she crumbles she cries, yes. But she gets back up and kicks ass.
HONDA - Ok, I’m finally cool with this guy. He has tried to change so much and it’s sincere. He loves both of these women and I am thrilled that he finally admits it!
And his tender side is brilliant to see. He is the man that these two women need and the perfect father.
His dedication to his family is fantastic to see and heartwarming.
I really didn’t like him to begin with but, now? Yup, I’m pretty sure he’ll be making an appearance in my sexy dreams at night.
YUKI - I need a Yuki! I really do. This woman's strength, compassion and spirit are spectacular.
She may not have been out there kicking ass with demons but her contribution to this family is certainly no less. Her love really does know no bounds and it’s just so beautiful.
SEX SCENES - As with the other two books, the sex was intense and so much more than physical. It was healing, and loving, and binding. Not to mention hot as fuck!
FINAL THOUGHTS - This book is so different from most that I have read and I wish I had the words to tell you how it affected me exactly.
It was interesting, suspenseful, dark, beautiful, kinky, funny, and you actually grow with the characters.
The twists and turns, as well as all of the utterly unique characters, kept me glued to the story from beginning to end.
I read all three books in one day, I truly couldn’t put them down! At the core of this book is an enthralling tale of love, family, and sacrifice. I can’t wait for Lila’s next book!
This trilogy has forged a new path—it smashes barriers, tears down walls, and pushes hard—taking you farther than conceivable.
DEFERENCE and DREAD, the first two books in the TEMPER SAGA, set an expectation of impeccable story telling from the author, Lila Mina. The third installment, DELIVERANCE, has—in typical Lila Mina style—obliterated any expectation. This saga ignites the senses, arouses passion, excites awe at paranormal beings, provokes fascination for legendary mythical displays, and opens the heart with a love so pure—it heals souls. Where the the first two books left this reader intrigued, vested, and eager for more... DELIVERANCE terrified me, gutted me, left me shattered and emotionally raw... only to slowly move every single piece back to where it was, and fill me with the light and warmth of one of most epic love stories I’ve read—leaving me soaring on the truth that this is truly only their beginning.
Nothing about this story is predictable. From the devastating trauma facing the characters, to the crippling effects it has on each of them, Lila Mina reveals each mind blowing detail of the story in tantalizing fashion.
The author saturates the senses, using references to sights and sounds and with exquisite detail of the imagery of the setting in stunning Japan. The rawness of emotions felt during the journeys of each character, swell to the forefront of every moment and reinforce the ties that bind them in ways that continue to unfold as the story progresses and culminates in the most magnificent way.
Lana, Honda and Yuki have a union urged by fate, blessed by the gods, and accepted by the people supporting the very tradition that it defies. All of their struggles, all of their scars, all of the secrets, all of the pain... it’s all combined, forged together into a weapon tempered by love used to fight all of their demons—to conquer their demons.
Together they find the power to vanquish seemingly boundless rage filled desire to inflict revenge—an eye for an eye, a life for a life—to give back what was received—or just end it all. They defeat the truest of demons both inside of themselves and outside. Love. True love and the unparalleled devotion to that love—along with the soul deep reverence for the sacrifices given to achieve that love—proves to be the lasting thread, the tie that anchors them to their history while letting them soar freely into their future.
...my heartfelt thanks to Lila Mina who created these driven, passionate characters who have forever found a place in my heart.
Wow! What a way to end the series! I literally could not put this book down in my quest to find out how things would end for Lana, Honda and Yuki in this tale. The three books in this series run along the same story arc and, as such, should be read in order to avoid confusion. There also may be spoilers for the first two books in this review so please read ahead with caution if you have not already read books one and two – and if you haven’t, I highly recommend that you get started on them!
So Deliverance continues the story of my favourite trio in any book – Lana, Yuki and Honda. Together, they face so many demons, both of the supernatural kind and the more human kind, meaning that it feels as if the trio barely have any down time together. It is jam-packed with action which makes it literally impossible to stop reading. I really loved the supernatural elements of this story and, because of my complete lack of knowledge of Japanese mythology, I found it impossible to predict what new threats might be coming for the characters.
Despite all the dangers that they face, or maybe because of them, the trio become closer than ever and reach whole new levels of intimacy with one another. This made me so happy. I have always loved these three, but it was so satisfying to see their emotional bond deepen without losing any of the heat that has always been such an important part of their relationship. It was particularly satisfying to see Honda open himself up more emotionally. He has always been the one that had the most difficulty showing his emotions, even though the reader could see that his love for the two women in his life was a big motivating factor in everything that he did, but it was so heart-warming to see him actually expressing his love for them.
I found myself crying quite a lot while reading Deliverance. Sometimes they were tears of happiness for a beautiful experience that the trio shared together and at other times, they were tears of heartbreak for the hell that they were put through. Either way, this is the kind of book that pulls you in completely on an emotional level, making the reader feel everything that the characters experience. But I did feel as if the author managed the perfect balance between moments of extreme danger and moments of intense beauty. If it weren’t for the loving and intimate moments between the trio, I’m not sure my heart would have survived reading this book!
Overall, I really can’t recommend this series enough to those of you who enjoy BDSM erotica! So much heat, so many emotions, so much action. It is a series that pulls you in and refuses to let you go until the final page!
I knew from the moment I finished the first book in the trilogy, I would want the third book for review. And thankfully, the author was enjoying my reviews enough to send me the last book in the trilogy (but not in the series).
The supernatural elements that were introduced in the second book are ramped up in this installment. Thankfully, it felt less like a strange left turn this time around. There was much more emphasis on Japanese culture, as the monsters they were facing were from Japanese myth and therefore took Shinto remedies to deal with. The setting is deeply intertwined with the plot. This same story could not have taken place anywhere else.
Honda is much farther in his character arc in the beginning of this one and continues farther. His character before always aggravated me in how rigid it was, but now he continued to soften and give all the "aaaaw" moments that implies. Yuki continues to be the bisexual I wish I was. Many other side characters also get a bit more depth, making it definitely feel like everyone has progressed.
The only reason I knock a star off is for the pacing. There are several scenes that feel like climactic, end-of-the-book scenes that come much earlier than they would in the normal plot set up. And they are so dramatic and high-intensity that nearly a third of the book reads like falling action. There is a dramatic moment at the end, setting up the fourth book (which is following a different theme and character development than the first three, hence why they remain a trilogy) that was fairly interesting. I'm intrigued to read the next one. However, the pacing did leave me on edge for another climactic scene that never came. I'm not sure how the author could have restructured the book and keep character developments the same, so this may be a necessary evil. But it did make for extra anxiety when the actual plot on the page didn't call for it.
There are moments that require content warnings for sexual assault, mostly near the beginning. But the consensual scenes continue to be fun and inventive. It's still not your mom's grocery store romance. But at this point, you've probably figured that out. Can't wait for book four!
And there it is, the last part of my rollercoaster ride... Where can I get back in line?
Beautiful, surprising, the perfect ending to a perfect story. No questions left to ask but one: Why are there only three books? I want more!!!
I'll be honest, in the beginning, I had such trouble with the whole threesome relationship. I loved Lana with Yuki. I loved Lana with Honda. But I always got so, so jealous when it came to Yuki and Honda. And it took me up until this very last part of the story to get it. To understand their relationship, to feel the love, the also very different versions of love between all three of them. There is no 'one without the otherS', they belong together, all three of them. If only one part of this unstoppable trio was missing, everything would fall apart.
So for this I will always be thankful. I've read another story with a polygamous (not polyamorous) relationship, yet it never felt as natural, as 'meant to be'. It kept bothering me. Temper is different, Temper did test my tolerance in the beginning, not because I would have ever judged polyamorous relationships before, but in my own capability to fall for this kind of a dynamic, yet it won. I did fall in love with the whole triangle, with everything between them. And I was so happy about the ending, about the closure, about the way everything turned out. I don't want to get into detail and write any spoilers, but my very romantic heart was entirely pleased!
The story sent me through hell and messed with all my senses, but it really was like a rollercoaster ride or as a hard work-out or like going to the beach and playing in the waves. Wild and crazy and fun while it happened, but I came out of it calmly, satisfied and happier.
Thank you for creating this beautiful story, Lila Mina, and thank you so much for now having published these books so I can buy them and keep them not only in my heart but also in my hands forever. <3

This finisher of the Temper series is EPIC! Wow and Wow. Besides being so dang hot, I thought everyone would know what I was reading from my blushing cheeks - the story is riveting and unpredictable. I loved how the author tied everything up by first giving the reader a jaw-dropping story. I think the 3rd book was the best of the three, but you couldn't get to this intense climax without the lead up of the first two. The complexity of the characters is refreshing from the layers of the three leads to the supporting players like Gabriella and Nakzawa (I see a novella for each!!). My only complaint is the end was a little too quick for me - it was a loose end that had to be dealt with and I wish we had spent more time with the final conflict (ooo perhaps another novella with the character in the final conflict (sorry no spoliers) perhaps a prequel?).
WOW! This book was so amazingly good. I think it is my favourite so far in the series. Lana, Honda and Yuki’s story is so intense and otherworldly. Their love for one another is extraordinary and huge. There is just so much packed into this book, action, suspense, intrigue, love and folklore. I could not put it down. The story was so intense at times that I no longer have any nails left to chew off. So many twists and turns with an amazing ending that I did not see coming.
This author painted a very realistic and fantastical story with Japanese history and folklore interwoven throughout. The story is so well written and phenomenal!
This book will not disappoint you. Highly recommend.
Wow! This book was out of this world good! It was so unexpected, the way the story unfolded, turned into what i think was magic, but maybe that was because of my limited cultural point of reference. Anyway, the descriptions and explanations were so good it seems I had a front row seat to all the action. During the sexually intense ones I felt like a voyeur. I really enjoyed how the author portrayed the relationship between the 3 of them, how it was not only desire and need to fulfill certain needs, but also how romantic love was present in the relationship amongst all of them towards each other.
I can say for certain that Lila Mina is one of my favorite authors. Now I can’t wait for the next book in this excellent series.
Wow! That was amazing 😍, the way everything unfolded, the love, the closer, it was all just beautiful. I cried several times. I actually really started to care for these characters and their plight. I was amazed at how seamlessly Lila Mina was able to have everything flow and conclude so well. There were so many elements that, it had to have been difficult to have everything come together. Anyway, this was an amazing read and I’m so happy that I got the chance to read it.
If you are looking for an intriguing and hypnotic read look no further. This series has opened my eyes to a new culture enveloped into a magnificent story that is impossible to put down. This was the best out of the three and I did not want it to end. The chemistry and depth of emotions held by these characters is amazing. Suspenseful, dramatic and unpredictable makes this a must read series. I truly hope that we see more in the future and this is not the end.
Lila Mina did it again! This book is a must-read! Loved it from beginning and by the end was in awe of the sheer intensity and truth and love surveyed by all of her characters. Really well done trilogy. Thank you for sharing your characters with us. They and their story are truly one of a kind.
I could not put this book down. I loved the whole series. It was very interesting to read about a d/s relationship from a japenese point of view. It was an emotional rollercoaster
“Deliverance” was a perfect finale for the series I fell in love with. From the very first chapter, the tension grew and grew and the pace never slacked as Lana, along with Honda and Yuki, fought not only for her place in the clan, but for the life of her unborn baby as well. An ancient force resurfaced to claim what was promised to it and if it can’t have Lana, no one can, according to its twisted logic. Will Lana pay an ultimate sacrifice for her desire to save herself and her lover as well or will she perish trying? As the plot moved forward, I couldn’t turn pages fast enough.
Besides the already unputdownable plot, I also appreciated the ending and the message it sends to the reader: while facing an ultimate demon from one’s past (even if it’s one’s own blood), it’s important to preserve one’s humanity to heal instead of succumbing to the evil and staying in limbo forever. I really can’t recommend this trilogy highly enough! Steamy, intriguing, and incredibly inspirational, it will satisfy even the pickiest readers. Five stars!
This book kept me interested , from day one with her first book I read and looking forward to her fourth book when it comes out. With all the struggles that they went thru when they went to His Mothers house with the beautiful wedding of the trio and the heartbreaking lose of Hando mother and the joy of her new baby , fighting the battles of the curse that pledge both of them 20 years ago facing the main evil , come facing the evil fox that had her soul giving to him by her mother . As Lana face her mother at last and was release of her scars the some could see on her body . With the happy trio together and married in the eyes of the upper sprits they share the Isao between all three of them as the Grandfather will make sure no one hurt's his grandson.
This trilogy is powerful. Not your typical PNR! Complex and deep, touching and stunning at times. One of the truest depictions of a loving, respectful BDSM FFM relationship I have ever read. Immersed in Japanese culture and mythology, but with contemporary characters and setting, these books are a feast.
Book 1 is by far the weakest in the series and book 2 is only slightly better. I do think these three short books should be read as a whole because without book 3 the other two books are unsatisfying and incomplete.
Book 3 has great payoff though and book 4 is my favorite by far. I do think these books are worth checking out if you don't mind erotica because the characters are great and there are so few convincing polyamorous romances out there. So if you like Japan or Romance or both this series is worth a shot!
Finished!
Finished the whole trilogy in a week I think. That’s pretty swift, even for me!
And I recommend the whole series especially if you
- enjoy erotica, fantasy and horror (just a little horror) - are really interested in Japan, Japanese culture and language and aikido - are not averse to polygamous relationships, in this case F/F/M
Temper goes from Erotica to Horror/Fantasy in a BLINK so don’t be too surprised about the sudden genre change somewhere in book 2.
And that’s great! I do like formulas for some genres and I am not allergic to them. However, these books, which introduced so many unusual things in the first part (non-American 35+ years protagonist / Setting Japan / does not translate Japanese words (although there is an exhaustive list at the end of the book) / is not scared of naming aikido techniques no one has ever heard of / expects reader to put up with a polygamous relationship the final destination of which is uncertain / unafraid of lesbian sex / isn’t male-centric .... I could go on) also then turns out to be not a simple erotica!!
Amazing, I think. I lived in Japan, the author does (I checked) live there now and she has extensive knowledge on the subject. Her setting isn’t a background, it is deeply rooted in the story the author means to tell.
All in all, without spoiling the content any further - this was highly unusual, I loved it and the author is on par with Remittance Girl (who writes literary erotica sometimes with fantasy elements and has also lived in and written about Asia).
People it's crazy how much I enjoyed reading this book/series. It's been an amazing experience let me tell you. Lila Mina you ripped my heart out then gave it back. I LOVE this series. The sex, BDSM, story, characters, Japanese culture everything is on POINT!! I look forward to reading VINDICTA!! And that's my honest ARC review. #LGBTQ #PRN #EROTIC #ROMANCE
This was a gripping end to a great series. When I read the first book, I thought it was just a contemporary series. The second book dipped it's toes a little in paranormal romance. The third hits you full in the face with Japanese demons and it was awesome. The three main characters in the book solifiy their arrangement and keep taking things to the next level, but the demons who marked Lana and Honda have come to claim what's theirs. Surprising allies comes to their side, which I won't spoil for you.
If you like paranormal romance and you like reading about other cultures, I'd say grab this one. Just because the first book doesn't have anything paranormal in it, trust me, the series goes there full force at the end
“If anything… those first tumultuous months made all of us stronger, don’t you think? Like when a blade is heated, put through fire to make it even more resistant. What’s the word?”
A large smile bloomed on Honda’s face.
“Tempered. Yes, the image is perfect. Our bonds were tempered by our hardships and made unbreakable. So tonight is all about celebrating the love made of steel we share in so many ways."
This story all together in the series was written with passion, resilence, unconventional love, and healing. Lila learns how to get through her trauma by being in a relationship with Honda, and Yuki. No matter what culture you come from - this story leads you to an intelligent way of fighting your biggest fears. By growing as a person to withstand and break free to be resilient.
This was one crazy ride and I enjoyed every second! I read this epic conclusion to the Temper saga in one go and was left breathless and wanting more. Lana must deal both with literal and internal demons and the showdown in the snowy Japanese countryside had me on the edge of my seat. The second half was calmer and felt more like a lovely, long epilogue with a second climax near the end. Despite plenty of delicious filth this novel explored the emotional dynamics of the throuple Lana-Honda-Yuki and that arc was deeply satisfying. When Honda uttered "beloved" for the first time, I positively swooned. I truly loved the entire series and can't wait for the sequel.
