No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days at a time. By the time I was nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I was hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. My first book was started after I read a real bomb of a book that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best and I thought... I could do better. LOL.
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of a few books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to try to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time. It's a dream come true.

I believe that I have read almost all Laurann Dohner' books. Unfortunately I am running out of her available published books and this series is the last one left for me :(
I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Mika is a bit pushy in the beginning and a bit too thoughtless after she pokes the wolf and she is surprised that he wants to eat her alive.
Moreover, the werewolves' behaviour reminded me somehow the New Species' behaviour and this excited me.
Grady is a bossy, obsessive Alpha wolf, but he can act totally stupidly sometimes. Thank God he knows how to ask for forgiveness.
If you love werewolves PNR, this book is totally recommended!

This book was a first for me. I had never read a werewolf book and it wasn’t very disappointing. The truth is that I didn’t have high expectations about since the blurb makes you avoid the book as plague.
Worst blurb ever!

The story: Mika is a human girl raised by werewolves .Her stupid decision to walk alone the streets as the mating heat approaches will change her life. She is surrounded by werewolves who want her only to satisfy their needs, which btw become more intense during this season. Unable to fight them Mika desperately is praying for a miracle and here we are introduced
Grady is THE Alpha male. He can’t stand watching a few perverts terrorizing his town's girls. Like an awesome wolf that he is , he manages to take down four horny werewolves.
So far , so amazing *thumbs up*!
He saves the girl , isn’t he a hero?
But then he starts getting on my nerves.
You know Gardy , karma is a b*tch , so in your face because if she tells anyone you are in deep shit.
Anyway , the story is getting more interesting when her uncle assigns Grady to protect her but then Grady is forced to so she sticks up with him for the next two weeks.
These two weeks are intense and hot as our werewolf MC is suffering from the heat. In the beginning you may think that he is using her but then his feelings start getting more clear and sincere towards her.
Mika our heroine was so annoying. Her childish behavior will definitely irritate you. At first she spends days teasing him but then she is afraid to face him.
She is too jealous and she doesn’t even have the right to be.
Overall it was a mediocre book for me. It wasn’t awful but it could have been better. The heroine was over reacting a lot and Grady screwed things up several times but nothing too serious to make you give up reading it. Once they understood that they belonged to each other things smoothed a lot and they become kind of adorable together.

This ended up being a DNF for me.
Book starts with heroine, who is a human, visiting her uncle's town. Uncle is a werewolf. Lives in a town full on werewolves. She's surrounded by 4 guys who don't give a s*** who she's related to. All they care about is that it's mating season and she's not claimed by anyone. Hero steps in just in time to save the day. Later, we find out hero is part of her uncle's team. Heroine is warned to not go anywhere at night because it's mating season and she could be attacked. Uncle gives her a "guard" who ends up being the hero. Heroine dislikes the rules so gives hero a choice one night -- either strip so they can have sex or she's going out to a bar because she's BORED. At night. Never mind the warnings that she, as a human, should NOT be going anywhere at night. Hero knows if he touches her, he'll lose his balls (something that is mentioned 4 different times in the first 21% of the book) by way of her uncle.
Blah blah blah, they go to his bar (hero owns one) and while he's in the office, after telling her to not move away from the bar, some guy tries to steal her away because again, it's mating season and she's not marked. Hero steps in AGAIN to save the day and bad guy refuses to back down until hero marks heroine right then and there to prove she's his. Of course hero does it, takes her home to tell her uncle what happens and the TSTL heroine is whining that "it wasn't her fault" blah blah blah. I gave up right there. At about 24% and/or 25% Did not want to see any more stupid s*** she did. The warnings were clear from the VERY beginning but I guess boredom trumps rape? Dumb dumb dumb.

What is it about?
It's mating season for all the werewolves, and when Mika finds herself surrounded by not 2, not 3, but 4 horny men, she knows she's in deep sh*t. They don't seem to mind that she's human, and that she's the niece of a very powerful alpha male. They want her.

Gary saves Mika for what was sure to be a very painful rape. But not for free. The payment? Mika.
I was hesitant to read this because lets face it - the blurb is ridiculous. But believe me, the actual book is so much better! So don't be put off. And i heard mixed reviews. This is the sort of book that you either like or don't. It's definitely not for everyone.
What i liked?
I loved how easy the style of writing was. There was no stupid metaphors that you don't even understand, and i could get into it with ease as a result. I also found everything really interesting and entertaining, i wasn't looking forwards to putting it down for sure. And the sex scenes were just FANTASTIC!
What i didn't like?
The characters were my main problem here.
Mika was just such a drama queen. She was thinking too much and made up things that didn't even happen. She overreacted big time. Not only that, but she kept on repeating the same things all over again.
Gary was a selfish asshole most of the time. I felt like he used Mika for sex because of the mate heat, and i really wanted to punch him. At first, he did not care for her. Only right towards the end did he finally realize that she's worth it to be his mate. But he was a volcano hot piece of ass and dirty mouth that i loved!
Overall, Mate Set was a fun, entertaining, and sexy read that i really, really enjoyed. I'll definitely be reading book 2, and i recommend this to all erotica and paranormal book lovers.

5 Mate Set Stars
I love when an alpha fights his feelings, but what I really love is how Ms. Laurann makes her alpha males be soooo damn sexy, powerful and have a sweetheart.
Grady is a sweetheart, he tries to do what he thinks is right but sometimes they just get it all messed up. Mika knows how and what he is, and that he will never willingly pick her to be his mate.
And Grady doesn’t want a human but his feelings and his natural instinct to be with Mika is clouding his brain. I love the back and forth these characters have. It is witty and snarky but fun and enjoyable to listen to.
When they said this was erotica they were not lying. It is smokin’ hot people. Also, the narrator perfect choice loved, loved.

Well, I feel bad because this is the first 1 star review I have ever given, and I thought I would at least give it 2, but looking at the definitions of 1 and 2 stars, it really wasn't okay for me...I just didn't like it, unfortunately.
I am not a prude by any means, as I have come to enjoy some good erotica recently, but this book was just a bit overboard for me. First of all, it totally rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go when the H/h ended up getting hot and heavy on the side of a house only minutes after the heroine, Mika, was almost gang raped. And even though the hero, Grady, saved her from that situation, he still asked for his "favor" since it was the beginning of mating season, and he was all hot and bothered. Really??? Then, of course, it wasn't long before the two ended up in a situation where they were house bound together for 2 weeks, and she is "given" to Grady to mate with for the duration of his heat. Aside from these really crazy scenarios, I wouldn't have minded the sex so much if I actually like the characters. Sadly, this is one of the first books that I didn't care for at least one of them. For being 28 years old, Mika was very whiny. Grady, even with as hawt as he was described, was just onery and bleh. Both characters fell very flat for me. So there was no redemption of the lack of plot by at least enjoying the MCs, thus leaving me to not care for this book much at all.
Moreover, again, I am not a prude, but I am not one for sex where a shifter begins to shift (Grady) while the partner stays human (Mika). That borders a bit too much on beastiality for me, and I just don't care for that.
Also, while they had only known each other for a couple days, it didn't take long for Mika to fall in love. Again, really???? In lust, yes. Excited about a new relationship, yes. But in love? Nahhhh!!! Pretty ridiculous, I think. And it was really ironic that the two of them actually did fall in love with each other b/c it seemed that if they were f*cking, they were fighting or ignoring each other. So really, how can one fall in love like that???
As far as the book in general, again, the characters were completely one-dimensional and totally flat. Further, their dialogue was MUCH too repetitious. They both just kept saying the same things over and over and over every time something needed to be discussed or described. There have to be other ways for them to discuss the situation without being so repetitive, but alas, they didn't discover such ways.
So, yeah, in sum...I just didn't care for it.
ETA: Oh, and how could i forget? Even though the MC's had had sex a gagillion times, a kiss between them wasn't even described until like 70% in the book. Second failure to mention....the epilogue. I thought it would just mention how they were living happily together, etc., maybe mention having pups. Nope, it was two more rounds of f*cking. LOL!

The opening scene of this book was so Freaking Hot!!! I love a little forced seduction, and a dominant alpha that takes control. Especially when he is just protecting a damsel in distress.
As a fan of Laurann Dohner's books, I was not let down by this one. It was hot, sexy and action packed.
The alpha had a scene though where I was afraid he had suffered a mental breakdown, but it all worked out in the end.

OK I HAVE to say that the h in this book was the most annoying, childish, self centered character I've come into contact with for quite some time. Given her background you would expect her to be solid, mature, and adult. In truth much of the time she acted like a 14 year old not a 28 year old! I was continually amazed at the amount of pandering that went on with her family - if I'd of been then I WOULD have spanked her (and NOT in a good way either!)
Grady was fine for the most part - enough to raise the book a star for me. Though the way he interacted was odd sometimes. The first scene of them together struck me as creepy - not sexy. However it got more solid and even when he did some stupid stuff.
Overall I still liked the story but it was definitely not the home run for me that this author usually writes. If you haven't already check our her Cyborgs or New Species books - they are positively divine!

Good beginning, but I was disappointed and angry with most of the conflicts. Heroine makes stupid assumptions.
STORY BRIEF:
Most humans are unaware that werewolves are living in their community. Mika is a human who was adopted by Omar’s sister. She knows Omar is a werewolf and keeps the secret. She lives in California but visits Omar for a few weeks a year. Omar loves her and is protective of her. This year she unknowingly visits during werewolf mating season. Large numbers of werewolves visit the area and will rape her if they get the chance. Omar asks Grady to live with Mika for two weeks to protect her from the males. Grady is sexually drawn to Mika but won’t touch her because of her uncle’s threats. A rival clan member wants Mika and tells Grady he will take her unless she is marked by Grady. To avoid a werewolf war and save Mika, Grady is forced to mark her. Now that she is marked he must have frequent sex with her or go insane. She likes it.
REVIEWER’S OPINION:
This was pretty good at the start. I liked the following conversation (at 380). Omar’s girlfriend Minnie is talking. “I was mated when I was younger and it sucked. Being mated pretty much makes you a damn slave that a mated man thinks he owns lock, stock, and barrel. He orders you around and treats you like property because you are his. It’s in their damn blood when they mate to take it to the extreme.” I also liked a cute scene in which Omar is going to assign a guard to Mika based on which man looks at her body the least. Mika didn’t want a guard so she dressed as sexy as possible. This caused some gaping expressions.
But as the story progressed I became more and more disappointed. The main conflicts between the two were based on inaccurate assumptions and vague communication. Mika was falling in love with Grady, but he didn’t reciprocate. Mika felt rejected because she knew he wanted a werewolf for a mate. She was angry at Grady for various “assumed” reasons. The major conflict causing her to leave was based on hearing Grady talk about someone else and thinking he was talking about her. When Grady tried to explain she refused to listen. In fact she threatened him with something if he even talked to her. Thus he was forced to be quiet and not explain anything. This was such a cheap device to extend the conflict I was angry. It overshadowed the good writing from earlier in the book and I had to lower the stars. There was an odd scene near the end with Grady’s brother wanting Mika. I wasn’t sure if this was true or if he was trying to make Grady jealous. That felt thrown in and not developed enough by the author.
I would have preferred the author show how Grady’s feelings change during the book. We don’t see how or why he fell in love with Mika. We do know he didn’t want her in the beginning – other than for sex.
The sex scenes were pretty good. There were a lot of them.

Most humans are unaware that werewolves are living in their community. Mika is a human who was adopted by Omar’s sister. She knows Omar is a werewolf and keeps the secret. She lives in California but visits Omar for a few weeks a year. Omar loves her and is protective of her. This year she unknowingly visits during werewolf mating season. Large numbers of werewolves visit the area and will rape her if they get the chance. Omar asks Grady to live with Mika for two weeks to protect her from the males. Grady is sexually drawn to Mika but won’t touch her because of her uncle’s threats. A rival clan member wants Mika and tells Grady he will take her unless she is marked by Grady. To avoid a werewolf war and save Mika, Grady is forced to mark her. Now that she is marked he must have frequent sex with her or go insane. She likes it.
REVIEWER’S OPINION:
This was pretty good at the start. I liked the following conversation (at 380). Omar’s girlfriend Minnie is talking. “I was mated when I was younger and it sucked. Being mated pretty much makes you a damn slave that a mated man thinks he owns lock, stock, and barrel. He orders you around and treats you like property because you are his. It’s in their damn blood when they mate to take it to the extreme.” I also liked a cute scene in which Omar is going to assign a guard to Mika based on which man looks at her body the least. Mika didn’t want a guard so she dressed as sexy as possible. This caused some gaping expressions.
But as the story progressed I became more and more disappointed. The main conflicts between the two were based on inaccurate assumptions and vague communication. Mika was falling in love with Grady, but he didn’t reciprocate. Mika felt rejected because she knew he wanted a werewolf for a mate. She was angry at Grady for various “assumed” reasons. The major conflict causing her to leave was based on hearing Grady talk about someone else and thinking he was talking about her. When Grady tried to explain she refused to listen. In fact she threatened him with something if he even talked to her. Thus he was forced to be quiet and not explain anything. This was such a cheap device to extend the conflict I was angry. It overshadowed the good writing from earlier in the book and I had to lower the stars. There was an odd scene near the end with Grady’s brother wanting Mika. I wasn’t sure if this was true or if he was trying to make Grady jealous. That felt thrown in and not developed enough by the author.
I would have preferred the author show how Grady’s feelings change during the book. We don’t see how or why he fell in love with Mika. We do know he didn’t want her in the beginning – other than for sex.
The sex scenes were pretty good. There were a lot of them.

Me gustó, de verdad que si pero nada superará a la saga de las Nuevas Especies. Aunque lo que más me gustó de este libro es que tiene mucha trama, las decisiones de Mika son totalmente coherentes y me tuvo enganchada. A diferencia que con la otra saga, que apenas había momentos de "oh ahora van a separarse" en esta si, hubo drama y momentos de encogerse el corazón!
Disfruté de la historia la verdad, aunque mataría a la madrastra de Grady, menuda zorra.

While this did have some great angst this just didn't work for me. It was an ok read but not up to what I've enjoyed in her other series of books. I've started the second one in this series and it has started out rather well. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays enjoyable.

Trying to clean up these without reviews… I loved L.D.’s New Species & Cyborg Seduction, but her other stuff has been hit or miss. The Mating Heat series has three books that follow brothers, and a cousin, and can be read as a standalone, because the H’s don’t come up much after their book is over. They each follow a similar formula: mating heat is starting, so H’s are horny AF; the pairing is forbidden/frowned upon by others, and there’s usually some action/danger to the h.
Although technically, they are all technically safe; there are a couple things I thought worth mentioning. First, these are all a little rape-y; the h is never raped or assaulted, but there’s always a threat, and we're constantly reminded about the mating heat making Were’s lose their minds and getting rape-y. Also, again there’s no active OW issues, but sex is very blasé with these shifters, and there’s always a string of she-wolves, so just an FYI.
Mate Set is Grady & Mika’s story. Mika is a human who finds herself in a very dangerous/rapey situation, and half-breed, illegitimate son of the alpha Grady comes to her rescue. Mika starts out a smidge bossy/sassy (not in a good way) which reads as pretty immature, but she snaps out of it fairly quickly. The majority is the angsty journey of Mika pining for Grady, and Grady pining for Mika, but his locker of baggage having him resisting the pull. There’s a couple ex-OW issues, but they’re mostly just snarky, and Grady isn’t pursuing either. (And TONS of smut)
Bottom Line- Not bad, maybe even the best of the series. There’s plenty of angst, and action to keep it moving along, so no skimming for me. There’s a small epilogue 4-months out... and did I mention tons of smut. 😏

I think Laurann has written my favorite werewolf books to date! It has been a LONG time since I have enjoyed werewolves! Thank you for giving them back their rough sex appeal and great werewolf politics. The best since Blood and Chocolate

You guys are going to love this book. From the first chapter the author pulled me deep into the story. I felt so many emotions while reading this book and I felt complete relief when we reached the HEA. I hope there are many more books in the series because I can’t wait to read the next book.

I had mixed feelings about this story. It was well written and was alright but I had issues with the conflicts and the ways they were handled. Grady seemed iffy through most of the story and Mika was put in impossible situations that just made me feel bad for her. There is some insta-love going for those that don't like that sort of thing.
Mika lives in California and has a life but nothing is really holding her there. She has an uncle Omar that is a werewolf shifter and she goes back to her home town to visit him regularly. She's thought of moving back to be closer to him but he wants her to marry a human and thinks it's too dangerous for her to live there full time.
Grady is the first born of the pack Alpha in a wolf shifter pack. His mother was human and wasn't with his father when she started raising Grady. When he started showing signs of being a werewolf as a kid, Grady's mom found his dad and dropped Grady on his dad's doorstep. Unfortunately, Grady's dad's mate is a horrible woman who looked down on Grady because he was half human and wouldn't allow him to be taken in. Grady was raised by a number of families in the pack instead. Now he's known for staying away from humans except for the occasional one night stand.
Mika comes to town to visit for a couple weeks, She knows about shifters but her uncle doesn't bother to tell her that it's mating season (a time she's never visited before). This means that there are many strange werewolves in the area looking for sex and they're not all very picky about who they get it from. Humans are supposed to be off limits but not all the visitors follow the same rules. So Mika is in town and craving some chocolate so she goes for a stroll to the store and gets dragged in to an alley by 4 werewolves. She screams as they're trying to start a gang rape and before too long, Grady comes along and saves her. He then proceeds to come looking for some repayment (but they don't actually have sex). Mika is rather embarrassed by the whole thing (and was rather turned on by Grady) so she doesn't say anything to her aunt or uncle about the incident. Omar does finally realize that Mika needs guarded against the strange wolves in town and decides to draft one of the best enforcers in the pack, Grady.
So as her guard, Grady is staying with Mika 24/7 but pretty much treating her like crap and barely talking to her. She's pretty much locked in the house so she pushes to go out. They go to Grady's bar which is supposed to be safe ground but Mika almost gets abducted by a strange shifter right there in the bar and in order to save her from a horrible fate, Grady is forced to lay claim to her. Uncle Omar isn't happy about it but the way it happens means they have to have sex (during the rest of the mating season) or Grady will go crazy. Mika's Uncle basically gives her to Grady to have sex with for the next 2 weeks. Mika isn't all that happy about it at first but she was already attracted to Grady and figures she'll go along with it. Grady makes it very clear that he doesn't want a human mate so Mika knows she's headed for trouble when she realizes that she's fallen for Grady within the first couple days. Then she's pretty much plagued with life being horrible because Grady is constantly showing her that she's not what he wants and it hurts her. Grady is so clueless that he doesn't realize what the heck is going on or that his actions are hurtful. This pretty much continues until the end and then was have a whiplash turnaround and Grady and Mika get their HEA.
To be honest, the way the story went just didn't work for me, probably because I'm not in to the constant drama. The forced situations and frequent ups and downs (but mostly downs) wasn't really my thing so I had trouble getting fully in to the story. I liked Mika and wished for her to get her happiness but I was less than convinced that Grady would be the one to give it to her (at least until the last 5% of the book). I can see someone liking this story that was more in to the forced situations and big drama. I may try the next book in the series as I've heard it's better than this one and I do like the author. :D

This is a 3.5 star book and since I truncate, it's a 3. Mika is the niece of an influential werewolf. Visiting her Uncle Omar for two weeks turns into a kind of a life sentence. Mika is supposed to be 28 in this book. I guess maybe as an only child, she's been coddled a bit too much? Or perhaps she's one of those people whose logic works in different ways. My guess, is that she is a sensor. She doesn't use facts and logic to make decisions. She purely goes by how she feels. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the circumstance.
For this situation, where it's werewolf mating season, it's kind of a bad thing. Mixing her brand of logic with hormonal sex crazed male werewolves is not the best combination. It is a funny combination though, from a reader perspective. The conflict in this story is purely based on lack of communication and crazy female logic which men never understand. (Hell, I didn't even understand it and I'm female - last time I checked.) Ignoring Mika's lunacy, the sex in this book is HAWT! Grady is a very hot werewolf and I can understand why women are throwing themselves at him. I'd throw myself at him! The partial shifter sex is very hawt for me too. I like it. It's just a tad crossing the lines into bestiality but that's okay for me. I have no issues reading about this fetish.
There was scant world building here. If someone had never read a werewolf/shifter book, this book probably would be a bit confusing. For experienced paranormal romance readers who have read many shifter books, the gaps are easily filled in by the reader's knowledge. Since this is a PNR not a UF, world building is not focus here. It's SEX SEX SEX AND SEX. Did I mention sex? Honestly, I really enjoyed the sex parts and would give it a 4. I really wish the threesome had happened and while I understand the logic of why it didn't happen, I'm still feeling a bit gypped. Why the HELL would a woman turn down a threesome with two hot men? Oh right, because of the emotional attachment. Blah blah blah is all I heard. It's just SEX! A little DP with two hot guys licking all over, what is NOT to like? I have to agree with Grady that Mika is a prude. An uptight prude who is overly emotional and needs a good long spanking. Yes, that is what is missing in this book. She was told she would be spanked and they never followed through. That was a disappointment. She should have received more than a spanking. Corner time with some figging would have been nice too. She also should have been restrained is some kinky BD for her blackmailing behaviour. Whilst restrained, some good edging with orgasm denial would have made my day.

This book made me so damn mad friends. When I think about it two days later and I'm just getting mad again. I thought I was getting some super sexy paranormal romance. It did have sexy moments but, everything else was terrible. I'm still trying to understand if I read the same book as everyone did.
Grady... if I saw him in person I would fight him on sight. He ruined this book for me. He disrespected Mika numerous times and never seemed to get a clue. He blamed everything and most of his actions on the mating season and that was such a cop out. He really just wanted to use her for sex and was planning on dipping after it was all over. Not only did Mika develop feelings for him, but he even said he wanted to hang out and get to know her. He messed that up of course. Real class act this guy. *eye roll*
Now Mika had some faults. Had she just stayed her ass at home NONE of this would have happened. Because she was bored and refused to listen to rules, she put herself and others in situations that nobody wanted to be in. I did start to feel sorry for her over half the book for being stuck with Grady though.
Also if you are looking for a plot, forget it. It's basically over 200 pages of sex.

I wanted to like this one but it just did not work for me.
It's the story of Mika, a human who knows about werewolves since her uncle is one. During one of her visits, she gets attacked by a group of them who don't know or care that she is supposed to be protected, and is rescued by another werewolf who kind of makes an impression.
She then learns that it's mating season where all werewolves have issues with control and she is supposed to stay home, protected by none other than Grady, her mysterious protector.
Neither of them is particularly happy about this turn of events, and Mika acts like a brat until she finds herself in trouble that leads to Grady marking her. That means they're stuck together while the mating season lasts, and although they both enjoy their time in bed, they are still strangers with lives beyond each other that Mika takes offence to for some reason and continues to act like a brat.
Feelings develop and get hurt, they both act like idiots in turns, not communicating enough and making their problems bigger, and eventually, they both decide that they're madly in love and ready for forever together.
Didn't love it but I'm curious about Anton and Shannon after listening to the preview of the next book, His Purrfect Mate, so I'll probably read that before deciding if I want to quit the series or not.

The writing wasn't so bad, but every character in this was a stupid arsehole and I hated the set-up.
This is just the first 25% or so. From there it gets worse with Mika coming down with a crazy obsessive infatuation within the first 48 hours of being pounded with magic werewolf wang every 2 hours, and Grady does nothing but stupid, hurtful crap and trashes her house. If this is your sort of thing then woo and yay, but by the end I really rather wish I'd stuck to my original idea to DNF at the beginning.

I had previously read this book and decided to reacquaint my self with the series in audio. It reminded me of just how much I enjoyed it the first time around!! Such a great read!
Mika is just the sassy snarky kind of gal I love to read. She knows what she wants and goes for it. I adored her banter and spunky attitude. The way she teases Grady is so naughty and delightful! She does push things too far at times, especially knowing the danger she faces.
Grady is a gruff Alpha wolf, who has no plans for a human mate. This makes him a bit of an a-hole most of the book. He is fighting it with everything he has and really not very likeable at times.
The whole book is from Mika's POV, which is part of why Grady comes off so badly. If there had been a mixed narrative he cold have explained himself to the reader in his thoughts. Cause his actions said major bad news d-bag.
The steam is off the charts hot!!! I am talking forget eh panties and have a fella nearby!!! Oh lord do those wolves like to lick their treats! And the biting. And the dominance!! Good lordy!
There are some major drama moments in the story, these kids have things to work out. I really loved the supporting cast and hope to see some wolfie brothers find mates soon!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by G. C. VonCloudts, who does a great job. Plenty of variation in the voices and consistency. She has a great tone that leads itself to the material. I loved her energy throughout the read, especially in the naughty bits! The girl gives good voice!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by G. C. VonCloudts, who does a great job. Plenty of variation in the voices and consistency. She has a great tone that leads itself to the material. I loved her energy throughout the read, especially in the naughty bits! The girl gives good voice!
I really enjoyed this book despite the hero being arrogant and highhanded. I am eager to read the next book in the series again and then move on to the third book which will be a first time read!

ok so ill admit there wasn't really a plot outside of the relationship between the hero and heroine... but hello?! this is a
EROTIC PARANORMAL ROMANCE
! Granted, there are tons of erotic PNRs that have amazing plots outside of the relationship but this novel didn't need some villan to come out of nowhere to mix it up and make it interesting.
i actually rated this a 3.5 starrr
However what made this not a complete 4 for me.
-the heroine acted immaturely sometimes. I mean we all think it and feel it secretly but most of us women try not to show the inner crazy.
-the hero was thick-headed and had a bad way with communicating making situations seem worse than they were. totally fustrating.
-i felt the heroine (MIKA) was grossly mistreated alot of the time but then again, we're dealing with werewolves here, there are no black and white lines. However, i wouldve been so pissed off that i wouldnt have cooperated at all but im the definition of prideful and stubborn.
despite these few shortcomings off the top of my head, i could not put the book down . okay so it only took me 2 and half hours to finish it. but for those 150 minutes, i could see the steam coming from the pages and the rollercoaster my emotions took from the relationship held me captive until the end. Thats why it was 4 star instead of a 3 star for me

Mate Set es el primer libro de la trilogia Mating Heat escrita por Laurann Dohner y mi segunda lectura de la autora.
Como me sucedio con Claimed ( otra novela de la autora ) la inicie sin muchas expectativas, principalmente porque la sinopsis no me parecio nada novedoso u original, e incluso pense que seria bastante inverosimil ( como las ultimas novelas de esta tematica que he leido ) pero me sorprendio muuuy gratamente, no es la historia perfecta o cambia vidas pero es muy entretenida y a diferencia de otras de este estilo si que tiene trama y no todo es una excusa para las escenas de sexo entre los protagonistas ( aunque hay que reconocer que muchas de las paginas de este libro estan llenas de sexo ).
En fin, una lectura que no esperaba que me gustara tanto, esta muy bien para pasar una tarde entretenida.

Another great story by Laurann Dohner. I love all her previous stuff and I was happy to see that she also does werewolves really well too. At first Grady seemed a bit assholish to me with his ideas of only mating a she-wolf. I mean the guy's half human, what's with all the hate? Well we learn that he's suffered because of his half-breed status so I kinda forgave him. The chemistry between Grady and Mika is smoking hot and I just wanted more...please.

Interesting shifter world, males come into season. The human h had shifter mother and human father so not raised in the pack. Unfortunately she's not very savvy about anything. She sasses the H and he and the pack warned her about the consequences. She's 28 and so immature but I really liked this fast paced, steamy story.
