Nick Ramsey has a problem. He keeps falling for straight alphas... and they keep disappointing him time and time again. He knows it's a character flaw, but when he checks out his ten year high school reunion and gets reminded of his favorite schoolboy crush, he can't help but risk his heart all over again.

Deacon Santos knows he's bisexual... he's just not willing to let everyone else know it, too. He's always assumed that he'd end up with a woman by default. But now thirty, and with no lover in sight, he's starting to feel the pull of creating a family all his own.

When Deacon offers Nick a place to stay after a nasty break up, they surprise one another by how quickly they fall into a strong friendship - and into bed.

But friends with benefits only works when no one's heart is on the line - and try as he might, Nick can’t stop himself from getting attached. When Nick finds the courage to move out, will Deacon chance the bravery it takes to come out of the closet for the man who steals his breath away?

Carter’s Crossing is a quaint little town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where some people go to get away, others arrive to start over, and plenty just find themselves when they’re lost or broken hearted. This contemporary mpreg series is for adults only and is sure to leave you believing in the magic of true love and happily ever afters! This book was an okay read and I feel like the overall story was pretty good but I also think that the story itself had potential yet the characters never reached that potential to make this a really interesting book. There was an odd disconnect with these characters and I can't honestly say they had a romance at all. Most of the story was while they weren't together, or together but not really? That sounds confusing because, well, Nick and Deacon were confusing. They were together but then not, yet maybe since they were sleeping together? Then Nick got pregnant yet Deacon was still not saying they were a couple, then a lot of time was just jumped over at random times as Nick's pregnancy progressed, all while Deacon and he were, I think, dating but not living together anymore. I just don't even know at this point and the more I try to make sense of what was happening the less I like these characters, which I didn't have a ton of issues with them separately in this book it was just their romance that had me feeling all types of confused.

Wait..what!!!

I usually never leave reviews unless I feel passionately one way or the other about a book. I looove Aiden Bates books. I couldn't even like this one. I just wanted to finish so I could get to the next (which I sincerely hope is back to expectations).
So what happened here?. How did a majority give this book 4s & 5s? Never have I seen one of his books so poorly edited. At the end of the last book, Xander was more than likely pregnant. At the beginning of this one he's knocking back 5 glasses of wine.
So many inconsistencies. Where is Kent? Why is it that Deacon is babysitting anyway? Wes's names is different (Wess?) All of a sudden he is hesitant to speak and have trouble finding words. When did that happen? At the end of his book his memories were back. He never spoke like in this book, even at the height of his amnesia. Where did this new brewery come from? What about Camdens' brewery? I didn't think this SMALL town could support two artisan breweries.
None of the other alphas are around. None of the other children. What happened to this story.
I couldn't even like Deacon. This did Not seem like the same guy as in Xanders' story. This guy was a jerk and Nick came across as an idiot omega "waiting" for him to make up his mind . Whaaaat?
Who wrote this mess of a story? It did not read as an Aiden Bates book which I usually download without even knowing an more than he wrote it.
To put it lightly, I was grievously disappointed!

This was book 4 in the "Carter's Crossing" series. Omega Nick is returning to Carter's Crossing for his high school reunion he went to school with Xander and Michael he is down on his luck the Alpha he was living with broke up with him and he lost his job. Deacon who is Xander's older brother has watched his friends and little brother start families and he wants that for himself he always thought it would be with a woman he experimented with guys in college but he had a bad experience. Nick has also had a crush on Deacon but he always thought he was straight. This was a good read but I wanted to slap Deacon at times. These two begin hooking up while Nick is living with him. Deacon is afraid to commit to him even when they get a big surprise. This was a good read and I was glad that Nick did what he did. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS: Personally this was...pretty bad. The series started off on a good foot, nothing amazing but solid. The problems for me started after the second book, but I digress. In Omega's Crush, the storyline drags so much it was a struggle to finish. The major problem is Deacon. When one of the main characters spends a good 90% of the book questioning his feelings toward the other main character, you have to wonder is he even that into his supposed love interest? It felt extremely forced, which is the opposite of what I would assume most people would want and expect from romantic fiction. Deacon never truly attempts to resolve his "issues", which by the end of the book become an annoying, whiny mantra of what to me were serious non-issues. It felt like the author had run out of ideas on what to use for angst, and was just trying to come up with some kind of conflict. Unfortunately it left the main character looking immature and insincere.

The story could have been compelling if you weren't left feeling like Deacon spent the whole book lost in a foggy limbo of bizarre uncertainty. Without the ability to commit for reasons that were flimsy at best, and at worst made no sense at all. I could understand if the character had been built up to be struggling with his sexuality, but that wasn't the issue. Rather it was the idea of what "other people might think" that was the sticking point. Which I found kind of hard to swallow when he's surrounded by friends, family and even a community being nothing but supportive. So really you're left with a main character that keeps harping on the fact that "he's always pictured himself with a woman," so he can't veer from that path even slightly or he'll be stuck with the stigma of being gay FOREVER. Nobody has ever expressed disapproval in his choosing a male as a mate, yet he feels intensely judged for considering doing so. He doesn't think being gay is a negative thing and he's always known he's bisexual, yet he's mortified of being "stuck in a box" labeled GAY...right, ok. So we have all that covered, and he still decides to throw caution to the wind and deliberately get Nick pregnant because he wants to be a dad; but he also doesn't want to commit to a relationship. The whole thing made zero sense to me. Add to that, the continuity between books is severely lacking, the editing and attention to detail is subpar, and on the whole it was pretty disappointing.

What happened ?

It's disappointing to see that the editing has once again failed for the author. There is a big lack of continuity between the characters in this book, and the way or things that happened in their books aka the rest of the series. Names are not spelled the same, someone who was pregnant before, isn't anymore and no - there is no baby. Also, there is the different spelling of names too, I mean, did the author read this once more before it was published ? I feel bad for Aiden, because truly, what a disservice to your work.

As far as the story goes, it was fine. I didn't like it as much as the others. I didn't really feel the connection between the two main characters.

Disappointed 😞

This book really was just a mess, it fell out of line of the other books in the series. The Story didn't match up with the previous book, the editing is practically non existing. I have many books by this author, and this book fall real short of his normal writing style.

I realy like Nick and I totaly understand if he wants to knock something on Deacon head. It was a bit exhausted reading about Deacons hot, cold, bi and straith attitude against Nick. Ok story.

I honestly have no idea what is going on with this book. At the end of the last book we learn that a character is pregnant, but then in this book (which takes place right after) he is not, and there is no mention of the baby. Then Deacon is babysitting for Xander and Kent’s baby so they can go to the high school reunion. Except Xander invites Nick back to his house to meet Kent. But Kent’s not at the house! Where is Kent? And Nick and Xander went to high school together in a small town. Kent was Xander’s teacher. Wouldn’t Nick already know Kent? I hope so, because he never ends up meeting him. They go back to Xander’s house, but Kent isn’t there.

So Kent has disappeared. Wes is now named Wess and has developed cognitive issues from his accident that were not there in his book.

Deacon is a total dick. He is bi, which is a secret, but also he told everyone about his fling with a guy in college. It’s the worst kept secret in town. He has sex with Nick, who has been mooning over Deacon since high school. They become a couple but don’t tell anyone because Nick doesn’t want anyone to know that he’s bi, even though everyone knows because he told them. Nick gets pregnant, obviously. Deacon wants to be a dad but isn’t sure that he wants anyone to know, and he wants to be with Nick but doesn’t want to tell people. He always figured he would marry a woman, and isn’t sure he is ready to let go of that fantasy even though he loves Nick and they are having a baby.

As you can imagine, the issues end up getting resolved and everyone is happy. Except me. Deacon didn’t even grovel. He treated Nick like crap and expected Nick to just wait around while he (Deacon) decided whether or not he was comfortable admitting to people that he was with a man. And poor Nick was left alone and pregnant. Honestly, Nick should have punched Deacon in the face. He could do better, if he could only get a little self-esteem.

I don’t feel like the books in this series were all written by the same one author. They are all over the place, with several continuity problems. I honestly feel like these books are the work of multiple authors who don’t communicate with each other and don’t have an editor. The style and content is drastically different than other books by Aiden Bates. Do other people write books under the Aiden Bates name (kind of like how Nancy Drew books are all written under the pen name Carolyn Keene)?

(Review with spoilers)

Fourth book in the series, with Deacon, Xander's older brother, and Nick, Xander's friend, as the main characters.

Deacon always believed that he would end up forming a family with a woman. But he has been deceiving himself for years, because he is not only attracted to women, but also to men. After years of resisting it, he approaches Nick in a way he didn't think possible, but he's afraid of his feelings, and what people think of him.

Nick returns to town for a high school reunion. And once there, he decides to stay, because nothing awaits him in the city. His ex-boyfriend kicked him out of the house after losing his job. He has always ended up with straight men who ended up rejecting him. He wants a fresh start. But living with Deacon, who he always liked, is not easy, especially after a night of passion.

I loved Deacon in the previous book. In this one, I also love him. He's a good man, he doesn't hesitate to help Nick when he needs it. And he's stupid. He refuses to accept reality, and doesn't understand that there's nothing wrong with him liking men. He's no less of a man for that. He helps Nick find work, lets him stay at his house, but then, when he needs him most, he can't be there for him. He tells himself he doesn't want to hurt him, but he does. He loves Nick, he loves his future baby, but he doesn't dare to be honest with himself.

I love Nick. I think it's the omega I loved the most. I don't like him lying to his friends, although I understand why he does it. I do love that he has taken steps to start over, to put his past behind him. A past that repeats itself when he approaches another straight man. But he had a crush on Deacon, and he seems to like him, too. It seems Deacon likes him, because he only confuses Nick. Sometimes he gets too close, other times he shies away. Going out together? Impossible. I love that he is strong, and that he tells Deacon that he has to decide what he wants, that he doesn't accept his excuses. A silly detail? He likes Xena, and that, for me, gives him points.

I loved seeing the protagonists of the other books, and also to see the tension between Michael and Thomas.

Omega’s Crush by Aiden Bates in book 4 of the Carter’s Crossing series. This is an m/m romance with non shifter mpreg features.

In this book, Nick has been away for a few years and due to misfortune, has found himself back in Carter’s Crossing where he grew up. He is immediately greeted by friends and his high school crush.

Deacon has been in Carter’s Crossing for years. He has watched his younger brother start his family and he can’t help but be a little envious. The problem is that he’s been telling everyone he’s straight despite that not being entirely true. And now that Nick is back, he can’t help but take notice of the omega that he knew once had a huge crush on him in high school.

From there, things take on a natural spiral. What I can say about this book is that it immediately hooks the reader into a cozy atmosphere. Carter’s Crossing is meant to feel small and cozy, where everybody knows everybody. Therefore, everyone knows everyone’s business. Which is perfect for romance shenanigans to ensue. There is also a sense of familiarity as Nick reconnects with not just his friends and Deacon, but the place he grew up in.

The plot itself was a little murky for me, but I caught on that the main focus was Deacon’s unwillingness to force himself into a label that he was uncomfortable with. Though honestly, I just didn’t understand why this was such a hard issue with him. But I suppose it’s because I believed that his true emotions would have been what bridged the gap between himself and Nick. Though this book’s synopsis says that this book ends with a happily ever after, I felt if the book had more length to it to explain Deacon a little further, then it would have been even more satisfying. As it stands, I think the plot drags on a little too long without proper explanation as to why this is such an issue. And by that time the reader has spent a lot of time with Nick that they begin to feel a little defensive for him.

Overall, I think this book is cute and has so much potential. It’s a story the reader has to think about on both sides of each character before making a final judgment.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the fourth book in the Carter's Crossing series. In this book, Nick is an omega who recently was dumped by an alpha and was left homeless and broke. Nick returned to Carter's Crossing to attend his high school reunion and he didn't know where he was going to go afterward. Nick was good friends with Xander and had a huge crush on Xander's brother Deacon, but Deacon was straight. Deacon knew about Nick's crush and while he was babysitting Xander's son so Xander could go to the reunion, he asked Xander to send him a picture of Nick. After the dance, Xander and Nick went back to Xander's house and Nick stayed talking to Deacon and having a drink. When Deacon mentioned the crush, he also told Nick he was not exactly 100% straight. Deacon had a boyfriend in college, but it ended badly and Deacon decided he was straight and belonged with a woman. When Deacon asked Nick about his job and living situation, Nick confessed he had nowhere to go. Deacon offered Nick a place to stay and helped him get a job at the brewery. They were like roommates and enjoyed living together. When Deacon mentioned his attraction to Nick again, they acted on their attractions. Deacon began to question who he was and what he wanted. Nick wanted to be with Deacon, but he wanted him to commit to being with him. When they purposely didn't use protection because they both wanted a baby, Nick knew deacon had to make a decision. Deacon wanted to be with Nick and their baby, but he still questioned himself and what people would think. I liked this book. I liked Nick, i like how he really knew he loved Deacon, but he also knew he had to be able to stand on his own in case Deacon decided he could be with him. I thought Nick was very understanding and patient, even if it hurt him. Deacon loved Nick, but he was so worried about what people would think and he needed to realize what mattered was his own happiness. Another good one in a good series. Well done.

Nick Ramsey hopes that coming back to Carter’s Crossing for his 10 year high school reunion will help take his mind off the fact that he has no place to live and no job after the alpha he was living with breaks up with him. With all this upheaval in his life he’s still hoping to run into his old crush.

Deacon Santos is bisexual and for some reason doesn’t want anyone to know about it. He always thought when it came time to settle down and have a family it would be with a woman. But after seeing his brother’s friend from high school he begins to question that. Deacon is 30 years old and wanting to settle down.

When Nick confides in Deacon that he has no job and no place to live Deacon invites him to stay with him and even helps him find a job. They quickly fall into an easy routine and soon enough they find themselves falling into bed.

When Nick decides to move out on his own and give Deacon the chance to figure out what he wants, Deacon realizes he’s got some hard truths to own up to or risk losing Nick forever.

I felt for Deacon in this story. When you have an idea in your head of what your identity is then realize it’s not what you expected it’s hard to move away from that mind set. But the chemistry between Nick and Deacon was undeniable and sometimes the unexpected turns out to be the best thing that ever happened. Another great story in this series.

Oh boy this is my worst nightmare come true. Lol. Nick is in town for his high school reunion and he is a mess. Luckily, he still has friends and his crush, Deacon. I about died when Deacon asked Nick, "Back at school... what exactly was it that drew you to me?" I cringed when Deacon asked that because he sounded all of 15 at that point. But, I get it. Deacon is just trying to find himself.

For as unlucky as Nick is in the beginning, he is certainly sure of himself. I like that he he does not dodge or hide from the hard stuff. He meets it head on and asks for what he needs. It is Deacon, the dork, with hang ups and baggage and his insane need to think himself to death. His burning question is not, am I gay? His question is, can I live being labeled as bi?

Deacon could have been a shallow guy. However, the author shares his fears in way that you can respect his internal struggle and the surprise ending. Woah. I did not see that coming!

I love this series. Poor Nick, left Carters Crossing for bigger and better things years ago, and now he is back. The class reunion is on and Nick came back for a lack of anywhere else to be. No Alpha, no job and no money. But it was good to be back and see his friends. He really wanted to see Xander's brother, Deacon. He was older and Nick had to ask about him. Deacon remembered Nick and knew Nick had a crush on him. They soon met and started a relationship, Nick stayed at Deacon's place and told him the truth of his life. Deacon was more then happy to help Nick and their relationship turned into something more. Including a pregnancy. But Deacon had a problem with the idea of loving a man. He always pictured himself with a woman, could he be with Nick?. Their story is fun and sad at the same time. Nick knew he would wait for Deacon forever, but he needed his space until Deacon could make up his mind. Awesome story with a great HEA

I really love this whole series! I'm always excited to read the next one because I really enjoy all the characters in each book and love revisiting them over and over again. This was a cute story about a stubborn alpha who had issues with admitting his try feeling because he kept battling with his own sexuality. He always felt he was meant to be with a woman and once he found the right woman the. he would settle down and have a family with her well soon he will find out why this dream woman never came into his life. Nick came back to his old town for a reunion hoping to escape his troubles with losing his job and last boyfriend. He didnt expect to run into an old crush and have old feelings rise again and for them to possibly be return since deacon is strait after all, isn't he? this was kind of a second chance Romance type book even though the characters were never together before but there was always an unspoken thing between them. This was a fun quick read and I really enjoyed deacon and Nick's story.

I wasn't as big a fan of this one. The characters were very "off". Nick was very shy one minute and then initiating practically every sexual act between them. He was constantly a contradiction, being needy with all his previous alphas but completely demanding of Deacon.
Deacon, on the other hand, just pissed me off. Even when he admitted to loving Nick I wasn't sure if he knew the meaning. His emotions were more wrapped up in logic than feeling.
All in all, this book was just "bleh". An interesting concept with poorly executed characters.
Then there are the inconsistencies... This happened in the last book too. I don't know where to start. Shouldn't the fact that Xander married their high school teacher have come up? And where IS Kent? And what happened to Xander being "sober" for the new baby? Instead he's giving away his maternity clothes. Are there two Breweries or are we just ignoring the fact that Nick is working for his friend's husband? And Wes...
Yeah... this wasn't horrible enough for one star but it fell far below the mark in the grand scheme of things.

Nick is not having a very good time of it lately he lost his job, his home and his boyfriend, he comes back home for the 10 year reunion and that’s where he bumps into his old school crush Deacon. When Deacon finds out that Nick is homeless he offers Nick a place to stay. Deacon is bi- sexual but he always thought that he would marry a woman and have a family but Nick is bringing out feelings that he never thought that he would feel for a man, they end up sleeping together and Nick gets pregnant. But will Deacon come to terms with his sexuality and not care what other people think?, or has Nick made another bad mistake and now there’s a baby coming to think of. I loved this story but Deacon shouldn’t care what other people think he should follow his heart. This is a fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This is a great story about self-discovery and believing in yourself. Nick has lost everything but decides to attend his high school reunion. He gets reconnected with his friends and gets a chance to see his high school crush Deacon. Nick is struggling with hiding the fact that he is jobless and homeless. Deacon is struggling with his dreams and self-imposed labels. He is straight, but... The characters are so realistic that you can't help but feel their struggles and emotional turmoil. They have complexity and depth adding that element of connection and relatability. The storyline is full of ups and downs, uncertainty but also friendship, love, and camaraderie. Great story and looking forward to the next one.

I don’t even think I would have gave this a full star if I didn’t have to. Nick should have moved on. Period. Deacon as a character and storyline doesn’t even make sense to me. This is a world where men can have children. A world where his friends and many others around him are with male omegas. And I don’t care about his crappy college experience because it’s still irrelevant to his future situation. He couldn’t even admit he was the father of the child to the doctor and all of that gets resolved with an apology. He decided he wanted to have a child and then he acts like a child. I don’t like him. And Nick as a character was pathetic from beginning to end. This was definitely the weakest book I’ve ever read from any series by this author. Nick was still afraid he’d change his mind in chapter 19. Doormat/Jerk are not good combinations and that’s how these two characters seemed.

Another hit for Aiden. Nick has come back for his high school reunion, with nothing to go back to. No job, no apartment and no boyfriend. No idea what he is going to do next, but it's good to see his old friends, and his old crush.
Deacon is bi but has only ever had one relationship with a guy and that was in college. He has always pictured himself married to a woman with kids. Though he has never found one.
Now his brothers friend is in town, and he finds himself attracted to him. This is their story, a journey of finding who they each are and who they can be.
You'look laugh and cry with them as they struggle with what they want in life.

Okay this one was decent not my favorite but I did enjoy reading it.

Character breakdown:

Deacon: I did not like him at all! He seemed too obsessed with his perceive self-image of how others saw him than to be truthful to himself. And there was no reason in doing so considering Carter's crossing is a mostly gay town (mentioned in book one or two) so it was hard to like the man mostly wanted to slap him.

Nick: I liked him but I also felt he sold himself short but glad he saw his worth and stood his ground. Hopefully he won't allow Deacon to behave like he did before.

Aside from the label hating alpha who played with the omega, the book was good but I am thoroughly curious about Tom and Michael. But also what's the true story about the Carter's???

Nick returns to Carter's Crossing for a reunion and encounters his high school crush Deacon.
Omega Nick is returning to his home town Carter's Crossing for a reunion and with nothing left for him in the city after his relationship and his job had dis integrated. After the reunion he goes home with his friend Xander and encounters his high school crush Xander's Alpha brother Deacon. They all drink a lot more before the the party breaks up and Deacon offers him the pull out bed at his place for the night. The next morning Deacon finds out the truth of his situation and tells him to stay while he finds a job. But both are feeling the pull of attraction between them. A MM MPreg romance to relax and enjoy.

A fresh start.

This story to me is about second chances and new beginnings. Nick needed a fresh start after losing his job, home and boyfriend. So he goes back home to Carter's Crossing for his high school reunion. This is where he meets Deacon his old high crush. Deacon wants to settle down and have a family he see and at Xander's place and the attraction is still there but he struggles with himself and being attracted to a guy he doesn't want to labeled even though he know he is bisexual. Over all this was an very interesting story I felt the struggles they had to be together were some we all have in real life. Not wanted to labeled as this or that and wanting a fresh start after losing everything. I highly recommend book book.

Nick is a down on his luck omega with a perpetually broken heart, returning to his hometown for his high school reunion. Deacon is about ready to have a family of his own but he is a closeted bi-sexual alpha and very confused about it.
This is a great story about self discovery, believing in yourself, patience, acceptance, and finding your inner strength. There is plenty of steamy sexy times, laughs, frustration, great friends, a long awaited love, and a satisfyingly sweet HEA.
I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.

if it is real, there is really no decision to make
if it is real, there is really no decision to make
if it is real, there is really no decision to make.........

either you love him, or you do not love him. the picture you had in your head of marriage and babies was a concept. if you are already moving forward with the baby thing, adjust thinking or adjust your relationship. that simple.

unless you try to hold on to what you do not want anyway.

Can Nick and Deacon hold onto the simplicity, or is it time to let go?

Somewhat sad romance.

Deacon and Nick could never quite get on the same page until they decided they really wanted to have kids. The problem with that was there was no commitment and tons of confusion and hurt feelings. Deacon didn't want his sexuality to be placed in a box and Nick had a history of men using him and discarding him. I laughed when Xander turned out to be the voice of reason in Deacon and Nick's relationship after all the craziness he put his brother through. Thomas' story is a long time coming and I have a feeling it's epically hilarious.

Carter's Crossing series just keeps getting better. This time we have Deacon's (Xander's brother) story. Nick (omega) is down on his luck. No job, no home and no alpha. Nick comes home for his high school reunion and reconnects with his classmate Xander. He asks about his one time crush Deacon and things begin from there. This story include Deacon needing to finally own that he is bi and that he can and does have feelings for a guy. Not just any guy but Nick. In a world where men can get pregnant...

If alphas have sperm and omegas have ova, wouldn't you be "gay" if you date someone of the same designation? I thought the whole problem with people dating their own gender was that it was "unnatural" because those couples couldn't have kids.

Deacon seems very confused about how sexuality and relationships work. Breaking a nice guy's heart in college makes no sense as an enduring wound. What about all the girls he dated? Their hearts didn't matter?

Ugh. I didn't like the characters, and the conflict never made sense. I finished reading it, but I don't know why. I guess the sex was good.

This was a very enjoyable story, complete with the characters from the other 3 books in the series.

When Nick returns to Carter's Crossing after losing his job and breaking up with his Alpha, he's got no where to go. His high school crush, Deacon, offers him a place to stay and helps him find a job. But then things get more serious, but Deacon has always told himself he's straight.

I liked the story, but I wish Deacon had been a bit more forthcoming with is emotions as far as Nick went. He seemed to just drag him along until the bitter end.

Finding love where you least expect it. This was an angst driven story with Deacon trying to accept himself and Nick learning to take care of himself. I really liked Deacon from the last story, however he really struggled with understanding himself in this one. Nick had a lot of growing to do also.

The writing was good and the story-line flowed. It was great to see past MC's supporting our new guys. Nick and Deacon are steamy and sweet together. I loved the ending!

I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review.
