The first four volumes of this manga adaptation ended just around the same spot as the first season anime, a duel between two of the most powerful beings the reader currently knows.
Much of the new world remained shrouded, and there could be more amazing beings out there, but for now, these two are Ainz, our main character, and a floor guardian of Ainz's guild.
This was a good choice for a strong ending for the first four volumes and the first season of the anime.
Binged the first 4 volumes of the series so far and thoroughly enjoyed it, we had Ainz being logged in forever to the game not quite knowing what has happened to his body.
Him prancing around as a knight to build up street credit, finding a ferocious beast in the woods which ended up being a giant hamster which he had to ride because of his human comrades desired he mount his steed. It’s one of those so ridiculous scenarios that could only work in manga and it was absolutely fantastic.
We then had some political stuff, which honestly went right over my head, it just sounds like mumbo jumbo. It’s probably better in the light novel as there is only so much you can pack into a manga whilst keeping it interesting. Accompanying that we had a vampire, which seemingly came out of nowhere and Ainz has decided to take her on one vs one.
The big battle that ends season one of the anime begins!
I really do love this development, seeing one of the floor guardians go all out along with aniz is such a delight and the way its drawn in the manga is spectacular also.
Ugghh... I don't know if it's because I'm having to wait MONTHS in-between each book, if it's just a poorly written manga adaptation, or if I'm just in a funk, but I struggled to finish this book. I had to show my friend who's a huge Overlord fan that I was reading it, just so he'd pressure me to keep reading (and now he wants me to binge the anime).
Anyway, Shalltear gets a little overzealous in her solo mission, backs off when she realizes her mistake, only to get caught off-guard mind controlled by a "World Item". Next thing I know she's having a wizard battle with Momonga. (Yeah, this is the part where I'm thinking the manga adaption is the problem because the pacing is giving me mental whiplash)
Another volume of Overlord. Enjoyed watching the battles. Moves quickly, not a lot to get hung up on. A relaxing read for the older children at heart, a more tense read for the younger audiences I imagine.
