When a man like Finn O'Grady wants something, no one, not even God, will deny him his desires.

FINN

I've wanted Aoife since the first time I heard her name. So Irish. So traditional. Then I saw her photo, and I had to have her.

In my world, a man like me is never denied, and Aoife's no different.

I'll have her in my bed, I'll make her want me, and when I'm done, that's it. Game over.

Well, that was the plan.

My curvy cailín is as addictive as she is sweet. With more secrets than even me, she's a sinner's paradise, and I might just be willing to repent if it means keeping her in my bed.

For as long as we both shall live.

SCREW YOU is the 65k first part in A SCREWED duet.

Final impression: the hero is a self-absorbed prick with no depth to him, the heroine is a spineless dumbass who acts like a bitch in heat at any given moment, the plot ridiculous and my mood "disappointed but not surprised" and "sorry to be so mean"
.....................................................................
Having read just a few lines, I already have a really bad feeling about this book. The male lead was describing himself as a dude with obsessive habits (OK), "coal-dark hair and diamond-blue eyes"... and I think my poker face there just slipped for a sec or two. Seems like an author's and not a character's "move" cause... who describes themselves like that?

And a glimpse of his thoughts make me believe he's an A grade unlikeable kind of asshole. Hope my first impression is all kinds of wrong🤞🤞🤞

If you’re okay with r a p e and forced submission, weak h, cliffhanger

Spoilerish content in review to justify rating.
I would not recommend this book. For one, there is a lot of internal blah blah blah. Most doesn’t add to the story and you can skip it.
The grammar and editing was decent. It was not flooded with errors.
However, the main H, Finn, is a self centered rapist. Some might argue that point because she didn’t scream and physically fight him. BUT he sees her picture and file. He goes to her tea room and tells her he will out whatever secret relationship she has with the Senator (he assumes it’s an affair. The senator is her father) if she does NOT sell her business to their crime org./business and SLEEP WITH HIM.
So in order to protect her fathers reputation she is forced to sell a business she was hanging on to for her mother’s memory. AND that very same night he forces her to go with him back to his condo. He tells her to strip and he’s all pleased with her compliance. But in her thoughts she says how her mother told her you never deny a Five Points man if you value your safety to make things easier. Then he starts physically touching her. Sure, like every other weak minded h the gets wet and doesn’t physically fight him.
But then when he goes to penetrate her he notes how all color has drained, she’s tight, and doesn’t appear to be into it. So then he still goes into her! When he notices her hymen. He asks, she confirms. The he just rams it on home and says “mine”. She did not ask for it. She did not mentally go willingly because she was afraid and felt she had to for her safety and her fathers reputation. And when she tensed up and he still didn’t care, you can argue all you want.....but that’s rape.
And it made it worse when she was all submissive and weak and getting wet. This is fiction. If that’s your kink, then by all means.
But I want a h character that doesn’t bend over backwards with Stockholm like syndrome and who is weak and demure.
Oh and let’s not forget SHE ALREADY KNOWS HIM. His mother moved in with her and her mom when she was like 12 and was her moms best friend.
Does she tell Finn? NO. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE. How are you going to be with someone and agree to marry them and not tell them you already know them and their mother?! Then the old lady Lena the mob bosses wife confronts her and she just lets her treat her like crap too. And still wants to hide the connection.
Way to start a marriage with NO TRUST.
He’s extremely self centered. And basically has crap for personality. He never asks her any questions. Doesn’t get to know her. He doesn’t even know she went to culinary school until she mentions it to someone else and he’s like no way? basically in his thoughts.
They did not build a relationship. He forced her to sell her business and forced her to have sex with him. He’s her first, she’s weak and then falls in love with someone that barely has conversations with her and doesn’t even know she went to culinary while she’s keeping secrets!
Sex scenes after were bland.
Another issue I had was the constant pointing out and discussion of the h by the h and by the H at different times of her being overweight.
He states she’s “curvy” and that he likes bigger girls.
She keeps talking about her size, she can’t quit eating cakes etc. and isn’t a gym person etc. how big her booty is blah blah.
I’m not as in shape as I should be right now personally. But I’m working on getting back into shape. So I feel like I can say this without sounding mean, but I do not want to read about lazy and overweight females. If it’s mentioned in her initial description that she’s over weight, okay fine whatever. Then moving on I can create the female character I want to imagine. But when it’s constantly brought up over and over, at that point I’m like ughhh!
So anyways, I just couldn’t get into this book. I know a lot of people might like it. But if you read the above and that doesn’t sound like something you’re into, I’m glad I spared you the waste time.
Oh and it ends on a CLIFFHANGER!

When Finn comes calling on Aoife, she rebuffs him at first, not wanting to give into his blackmail. But, he's a Five Points man and you don't say no to them and live. But what happens when in a very short amount of time, the heat between them starts developing into actual feelings?

As Mafia love goes, this story is pretty good. Finn, although a massive dick in the beginning, turns out to be a swoony guy, equal to feisty, sweet Aoife. Their chemistry is electric, and the pace is quick enough to move everything along nicely. I have to say that I wasn't prepared for the awful cliffhanger, though, but seeing as this is the first part of a duet, I am pretty sure that what the cliffy implied isn't actually true, so I will breathe easy until I can dive into Screw Me: A Screwed Duet.

The couple in this duet have an instant physical attraction that I enjoyed, as well as a couple of dirty-ish sex scenes that were super hot. This is the second book by this author I have read and I continue to enjoy her writing style very much. I was unaware going into this book that the hero was in the mob and although I do like mobster/mafia romances for the most part, it's been a couple of years now that I have been a little burnt out on them and I think that burnout impacted my enjoyment of this book somewhat. From an objective standpoint everything that is in the book that is mob related is handled well, so this is just a current personal preference issue for me. The book does end on a cliffhanger, but there is a note in the back from the author saying the second book will be out very soon, and I do want to read it to see what happens next.

I am on the fence with this book. I enjoyed the writing style, there were some steamy scenes but overall it lacked plot. Also I felt that initially sex was to close to dub con. She was coerced at the very best and although it all sort of turned out for the better, the imaginary line was too close. Characters lacked development and relationship was mostly based on sex.

Irish Mobster Meets Irish Good Girl

I’m not usually one for dark romances. Personally I find there is enough darkness in the world without going looking for more in the name of entertainment, but that is only my personal preference. However, there has been a rash of bully romances around of late that I have enjoyed and that might have pushed my tolerance threshold somewhat, plus this book is by Serena Akeroyd and I really like her style of writing and her imaginative plot construction.

This book is about a good girl Aoife (and it’s good to see a pronunciation before the book even starts so you don’t get it wrong in your head) who is running a tea shop in an old building. A property developer wants her out of the building so they can tear it down and build a nice shiny sky scraper. As Aoife’s mother died a few months ago she is reluctant to sell the shop that houses her mother’s dream. However, when Finn comes calling with an envelope full of blackmail material and informs him that he is a member of the Irish Mob she knows that she is going to have to sell. On top of forcing her to sell Finn wants Aoife in his bed and takes her there without delay.

This is where I have my problem with dark romances. She is blackmailed into giving up her livelihood and into sleeping with someone within hours of meeting and instead of hating him because he’s good looking and charismatic and she knew his Mum she’s ok with it. It also makes me mad because I can accept it because of the way it’s written and my little feminist heart thinks I should hate it.

Serena writes such well thought out characters that I can skate over my misgivings and just let the story coast over me. The plot, as always, is quick moving and interesting and the writing style fluid and well edited. These are the reasons I read Serena’s work and enjoy them, even if the subject matter makes me slightly uncomfortable. I know I’m going to read the next book in the duet because that cliffhanger is going to drive me nuts otherwise!

Very bad female character!

Well was a real a hole in the beginning, but he turned it around really quickly! Now Aoife, I didn't like her at all! First she's a doormat for your feet to be wiped all over, doing anything and everything she is commanded to do by Finn. It was absolutely unbelievable. (And this is fictional people) There is no way a person would have been so accepting of how the first met and done exactly what he said to do and not been upset and try to fight back a little because of it. She just loved every minute of it. It was quite sickening to read honestly!!!! Then the way she treated her friend. Going on saying she was just jealous of her because she was getting married before her, and she was jealous because she'd seen finn and wanted for her self. She was just a mean bitch to alot people. Then turn around and was like oh poor me I'm fat and that's why I'm so depressed. Not to mention a bunch of other crap. She didn't care that her 3 employees , including her life long friend being one, had sold her business in a day without giving them notice. All so she could save her father being found out he was her father so it wouldn't ruin he's career. Even though she only knew him for 5 years, and only she's him for a few hours every 3 weeks . She still took his side without giving life long friend notice. Then ignores her the time she with Finn and has the adausty to believe she's jealous of her. She isn't a very likable character at all!!! The story could have been so much better with a different female character!!!!!!!

I thought this book was absolutely delicious!! Wow, the sizzle and sparks between Finn and Aoife was so darn hot!! Finn was so swoon worthy. Powerful, determined, passionate and completely used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. And what he wants is Aoife and he means right now!. Aoife was sweet but sassy and has a hidden core of steel, that made her the perfect match for Finn. I loved both these characters and I adored them as a couple. The storyline move along smoothly and held my attention. The depth of emotion was excellent. The author made it very easy to get in the characters heads and that helped pull you into the story and had you rooting for this couple. This book does end on a cliffhanger (and it was a biggie!!), in preparation of the second book in this duet. I feel like I'm channeling Finn; I want book two and I mean right now!! LOL This is my sincere, independent review.

Aoife and Finn

When the mobs are involved you keep your head down and look the other way. But what happens when your business is being pressured to sell and a se*y gentlemen in a suit shows up to tell you to take the offer... and that he's taking you home to... Well you do what your told. For Aoife her tea room business is all she has left of her mom, but when Finn walks through her door, well things change. He's dominate and always gets what he wants, and right now he wants Aoife. The only question is will he let her go once he has her... oh my the dominance Finn brings into Aoife's life is just so hot! Luckily Aoife knows when to listen and when to be feisty. I need book 2 like now! Can't wait til it comes out!!!!

This is one truly emotional romance.💓😢💓

This is a really good book but I will give fair warning... it ends on a *huge* cliffhanger. 😲

Finn wanted Aoife from the moment he saw her photo. And he gets more from her than he had counted on... including her innocence. But Aoife just thought he wanted her for the night. Once he convinces her he wants more, she agrees. But then, how do you say no to the Irish mob of New York? It's quite the story that will have you shaking your head and fanning yourself in the same chapter.💕💗🔥💕

I don't normally read cliffhanger books without having the ending in my hot little hands too but I didn't realize this was one. Now I can't wait to read the second book.🤓

First of all I love a man with depth, I love a man that can be dynamic and not just be one way all across the board. I love that he is ruthless in business and with Aoife he is ruthless and yet loving. He is dominant but the perfect dominant, enough to test your limits but he never hurts her....well I mean he does leave her sore and satisfied :-)
They only thing bad I have to say is that I am over the 20 something virgin! Where is the main female character who is a sex goddess just as much as the man?? Why can't she blow his mind as well and not by how she submits to his whims but I mean just all out surprise the man...have him laid in the bed with his mind blown? Just one scene...ok maybe two :-)

Let me say, this was a good read and wish that ratings were also offering 1/2 stars too. Therefore total of 3 1/2 stars.
The Five Points family has branched out in the series, here we have the extension in relation to Finn and Aoife, a struggle to their newfound marriage. Situations are brought forward, love bonded, relationships lost, a new meaning to parenthood. There is still a lot revolving around the Five Points, Aiden Sr. still controlling the Irish Mob. As per usual, no spoiling of content.
A note to new readers, do read in order as the series do crossover and the mention of characters are present.

Consider my mind blown. Aoife and Finn are so fascinating. The way Serena describes them and portrays them, makes them pop off the pages. You can see how'd they would look and hear them telling their story to you.

The thrills and excitement within these pages is an epic ride that you will be holding on to the edge of your chair and when the cliff comes you will WANT MORE!!! It's going to be hard to wait because I have to know....

You won't regret reading. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

This is the type of love story that sweeps you away. Finn is an alphahole. He knows what he wants and he takes without asking assuming it is his due as a Five Pointer. Aoife has grown up in the neighborhood but she’s managed to stay under the radar in all things. Now with her securely in Finn’s sights and unequivocally meant to be his, everything is about to change. What about the secrets that Aoife is keeping? What about the business that Finn is irrevocably tied to? Can these two really find common ground when they are so different?

I was pulled in to this story right from the start. Finn is part of the Irish mob, and meets Aoife during the course of his business. Their relationship starts under peculiar circumstances, but soon they are spending all their time together.
One of my favorite things in romance is a dirty talking bad boy, and Finn is perfection. Paired up with a curvy girl with ambitions, and I am all in.
This story has a plot to suck you in, well drawn characters, and the steam...off the charts. This is my favorite of Serena’s that I’ve read, and definitely a favorite mafia romance.

I can't wait for the next book to come out. This was so good. I totally could picture Finn in all his uber hot and dominant self. Aoife is the perfect partner for him. The Point men are over the top Irish who run the city and all the occupants in such a way that it is so old world and the way this is written so visual. This is a series that is endless and I can't wait to read all about the men who run it.

Aghh!! This book is so good. I think I died with the ending. I need more now! Serena is such an amazing writer. This story pulls you in so completely. You can actually feel the love Finn has for Aoife. I love Aoife's character. At first she seems like she may be a meek person but the true strength in personality really shines through as you continue to read. Finn is also not completely what you think is personality should be. In some ways it is, he's in the mob after all.

I LOVED this book and immediately started haunting the author’s page for the second installment. Finn is filthy and haunted and alpha and protective and adoring and everything you could possibly want from a (anti)hero. The MC (sorry girl I can’t spell your name to save my life) is funny and motivated and doesn’t take any crap while at the same time being sensitive and embracing her submission.
Can’t say enough good things about this book Akeroyd can Screw Me anytime! ;-)

Well hot damn!

I cannot rave enough about how much I enjoyed this book. I haven't read a mob romance that I actually really loved and got into for a while, but this one ticked all the boxes. I really want a Finn for myself. Gah, he is a perfect blend of possessive alpha and adorable teddy bear with a heart of gold and a panty melting grin. Now I'm off to read the next book and skip uni assignments, damn my lack of self control haha.

This is the first part on a new duet from this talented author, and what an amazing introduction this is. Finn is the bad boy alpha, and Aoife is a strong and independent woman, and the chemistry between these two is explosive. This is a well written flawless story which had me totally captivated throughout, and I cannot wait for the second book.

Serena Akeroyd has done it again. This book has such an amazing story and is so steamy ❤️ Finn is seriously the love of my life. I love me some bad boys and he fits this criteria perfectly. Plus the way he is with Aoife is just so freaking swoonworthy. & I love nothing more than an Irish accent. God. This is seriously the book for me! 😍

This is the first part of a new duet that ends on a cliff hanger.

This is a well written with lots of suspense and steam.

This is a series that could go beyond a duet with Finns other brothers.

It's got everything: steam, genuine love, hot men, and it's even got some laughs in there. Highly recommend it! Can't wait to read more about them and the Five Points in Hell's Kitchen!
