Taking The Time: Experiments In Kindness

Rate this book
There is a goodness inside us. Sometimes we nurture this and help it grow, sometimes we poison our goodness with thoughts of what we lack. By blaming anyone but ourselves for our happiness, by allowing ourselves to have "only if" thoughts, or by asking of the Universe that which we are not willing to do for others, we create imbalance in our lives.Your peace is none of my business. What brings you joy cannot be my concern. It is not for me to determine the fairness of the way the Divine has treated you. What I can offer you is this. The beginning of contentment, the start of abundance, the feeling of satisfaction at the end of the day, is generated by a simple gratitude at the start of the day.My sister said once that others accuse her of seeing things through "rose colored" glasses, because she was optimistic and held higher hopes for relationships than most. My response was, "Little sister... perhaps they are just looking at the world through "shit colored" glasses". Yes... I cuss a little.Be the wonderful you, you are. Smile at times that find others frowning. Enjoy the ability to see the present moment both for what it is, and also for what joy it might help to bring. But above anything else, give thanks. Gratitude is what brings more goodness. And as a note of advice, tell people why you are thankful for them, but keep other things you are thankful for between you and God.
