The stars brought life to the planet, and the stars destroyed it.
Siblings Calix and Annora have spent their entire lives within Sanctum, the domed town that protects them from the dangerous sands that storm against the curved wall. But they are orphans, with questions about their heritage. With a childhood that prepares them to become scavengers. With a father figure in Kirillion who has an agenda all of his own - just what are they searching for when the scavenger crews depart?
All grown up, they join Walker's crew, scouring the sand in giant Crawlers, ready to dig. When an accident unlocks childhood memories and murder, questions arise within the crew about where their allegiances lie, and what their true purpose is. And then their search hits the big time.
A sci-fi dystopian adventure in an inhospitable landscape, Neon Sands is the opening book in an epic series that will explore Man’s technological and innate potential, and the search for hope when all looks bleak.

Praise for the trilogy:
"Final book in The Neon Sands Trilogy, Flames of Apathy makes for a satisfying conclusion. The scale introduced in book two of the series, Plains of Ion, is built upon to create an engaging denouement where the rich cast of characters inhabit a world of deliciously stylish sci-fi."
"This is science fiction that pays due attention to mood and contrasting atmosphere."
"Evocative of the noirish and epic loveliness of the dreamscape quality of the best of science fiction on celluloid, the narrative also incorporates a multi-layered dimension with nods to the cold brutalism and relentless action also associated with the heights of the genre."
"A great yarn, interestingly telling a story of mankind's future so bleak at the beginning and end with possibly no hope for a better tomorrow. BUT, then again maybe there is."

This is a new author to me - the writing has good descriptions but not too much fluff. I enjoyed this trilogy and the characters within. Moving from the sands, to the village and, finally, to the city flowed well. I would not want to live in any of those places. The story kept me engaged throughout - there were no slow spots, yet the plot didn't move too fast either. I did not care for the ending, though I suppose it made sense. Just a bit depressing. Then again, the world depicted is depressing. I see there are more books about this world. I have not decided if I will continue. I feel the reader can stop with this trilogy and be content.
I received this set from a free promotion. It reminded me of blade runner mixed with dune mixed with other sci Fi dystopian mixes. The original blade runner and dune. Thank you Adam.
This is an epic tale set in the post apocalypse where sand storms have devastated most of the world. It takes you through the trials of Calix searching for Annora who has has been abducted after a scavenging trip outside of Sanctum, their domed town. He realizes they were betrayal by Kirillion the man they thought of as their father.
