As a mom of 6 kids ranging in age from 14 years to 1 year, I highly recommend this book!

Motherhood and feeling like a failure go together like peanut butter and jelly. Like tweens and big feelings. Like an infant and an out-of-diaper poop explosion.

When I was an unwed, single mom with zero confidence that I was the right mom for the job - this book would have been a lifesaver. And now as a mom with 14 years of motherhood experience - this book is a life-preserver of hope.

When being a mom feels overwhelming - like relentless waves that threaten to drown you - the truth in this book will surround your heart, buoy your perspective so you can breathe again, and help you keep swimming.

No Better Mom for the Job is written by a mom of 3 spirited boys who is familiar with the daily battle field of motherhood. The stories are laugh (and cry) relatable, hope-filled, and full of wonderfully practical help.

Mama - you need this book.

No Better Mom for the Job is a Christian parenting book full of encouragement and tips for those in the thick of motherhood. I love the message that God picked you alone to be the best mom to your kids with your flaws and all. No one is better for that job than you. I felt this was geared more to moms of preschoolers and wished I read it years ago. Even though my girls are older I still enjoyed reading this.

I love this book!  Although I am not a mom, I found this book to be so helpful as an aunt to 5 boys. Becky is so honest with her feelings towards motherhood and the three boys that God gave her.  One line from her introduction will encourage the reader to keep on moving forward.  It is a prayer, "God, I don't believe You made a mistake in making me my kids' mom.  Even on days I feel inadequate, I believe You have called me to this role and that You are willing and able to equip me to be the mom my children need.  Please walk this motherhood road with me" (pg. 17).

Becky provides the reader with one simple step to practice each day, along with a prayer.  The book is filled with Scripture and real, raw stories that everyone who has interactions with children can relate to.  I recommend this book for any mom, aunt, grandma who have questioned their why these children are in their lives and if they can make it.  Becky takes you by the hand, gives you a hug and reminds the reader that they got this!

I received an early copy of the book from Bethany House Publishers. This is my honest opinion about the book.

I think we have all felt completely inadequate at some point. Becky’s beautiful words in NO BETER MOM FOR THE JOB will touch deep places in your heart, provide sympathy for the struggles you have felt and offer joy and vision to the role that is so profoundly important i.e. being a mum to your beautiful children. You will find in the pages her own personal stories. And by the end of the easy-to- read book, will consider her a friend who is walking the journey of motherhood by your side. She sheds so much beautiful light on the struggles of motherhood that you are bound to feel equipped. She reminded me constantly that there does not need to be comparison or loneliness in motherhood. But it is essential and completely beneficial to finding a tribe to walk with you. I laughed, I cried and I cringed as I totally related to her honest mishaps. Basically I loved this book, and will be recommending for all new mums and mums of little ones.

Reading this book was like drinking in cool, refreshing water. It was such a relief to find out that the author, along with the many moms she knows, have the same overwhelming feelings that I’ve had. The themes of gratitude and friendship pervade this book, surrounding the central message that although I may feel like I’m not good enough to parent my child well, God made me as the perfect fit with my child, and He is ready and waiting with grace, mercy, and strength to make up for my lack. Thank you, Becky Keife, for being real, honest, and encouraging!

Every mama should read this book.

Last year the two books that changed my motherhood were Grumpy Mom Takes a Holiday and Sacred Parenting. This year it’s Love-Centered Parenting and this book right here!

Not only is Becky a talented writer whose prose is poetic, but each chapter is steeped in Scripture. As a toddler mom, I needed to hear her perspective of the little years. With elegant understanding, she points to Christ amid the crusty frustration-joy of caked-on Cheerios. This will be a reread for me.

Most moms readily admit parenting is the best and the hardest job. Taking care of these human beings God has entrusted to us is such a big responsibility and one we don’t want to mess up. Some days we feel inadequate, unsure, and left wondering if we have what it takes. Becky puts a voice to this inner and outer dialogue we have as mothers. Her book equips us to parent with confidence even on the days when we don’t feel cut out for it. She reveals through her relatable style that God has matched us with our children on purpose. Reading this book leads us to believe there really is no better mom for the job.

I seriously can not say enough good things about this book!! Becky gets it, all the joys and struggles through motherhood; she has been there, too!! With chapter titles such as, "I just want one real friend" to "When the people you love the most bring out your worst", Becky touches on different aspects of motherhood that we are all thinking/feeling. She reminds us that we all deserve a cape, and that we are utterly and completely loved. Every mom needs to read this book!! :)

"Childhood isn't something to rush past, push through. The same can be said of motherhood. Their delight over snowflakes and dragonflies is our invitation to remember that watching them grow is a gift to be cherished." Becky Keife

I love these words of encouragement from Becky Kiefe. These are words that I wished I could have read a few years ago as a mom of three young children. Reading this book felt like having a talk with a good friend. I would recommend this book to any mom.

I thought No Better Mom for the Job by Becky Keife would be a book for moms of littles. And it is but it so SO. MUCH. MORE. I was reminded repeatedly that God holds it all and he is truly in control. This quote has stuck with me and it is printed and, on my wall, “Your overwhelm is an opportunity to experience God’s power. Your not-enough is an invitation to receive His more-than-enough.” I believe this book is a must-read for anyone who needs to be reminded of the opportunities we have to receive “His more-than-enough.”

This book is amazing. It is full of practical advice for the everyday mom. Highly recommend for whatever stage of motherhood you are in. If you are a mom - you need this book. Becky has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are sitting down over a cup of tea/coffee and chatting like old friends. Tons of relatable experiences and examples that show you who she is as a person and how God has shown her and now helped her show others that there is no better mom than you for your kids.

I'm a new boy Mom with a two year old and a heavy baby-belly containing an already rambunctious little brother on the way.
I found this book out of desperation.
I have a good son. But he's two, and he has been practicing being the most authentic two year old there is for about a year now-- full of energy and wildly passionate about play and tantrums.
I love him beyond measure, and get exhausted beyond measure mentally, emotionally, and physically *almost* every day.
With that being said, this book was a delightful respite for me. I listened to it on audio during short thirty minute walks with my son, or while doing the dinner dishes. Each chapter was about that long -- 30 minutes or so-- so the sections were perfect for my mommy-sized quiet-ish lapses.
In listening to Becky, I was simultaneously confronted and encouraged, challenged and moved. Overall I found the book to be pretty sappy, fairly sentimental, and very cutesy -- BUT, I still teared up often and related frequently to her anecdotes of mothering little boys. She is a skilled creative writer, and paints her personal memories beautifully -- even if they do make the reader feel like she needs to say, "Awe...bless your little heart" in a southern accent.
I wouldn't say that Becky's theology was "solid" or "concrete." It felt loose and broad, but her application of biblical passages didn't seem to contain many errors -- only red flags and "eh--I'm not sure I'd say/apply it like that..." segments. If taken as a whole, the book should challenge any Bible adhering Christian with a conscience to listen and obey.
I was very graciously confronted by it, and took to trying her recommended "easy steps" to apply her challenges to my life-- which resulted in spiritual enrichment and growth.
I will be recommending this book to my Mama friends

Oh, how I wish I’d had this book 15 years ago! My oldest is 16 now, but when he was a toddler I was struggling with so many questions. I wondered….Was leaving my cool(ish) job to stay home with my son the right choice? Would I love, nurture, and teach him well? Would every mistake I made scar him for life?

Fearful and doubting my abilities, but sure no one else felt the same way, I projected a confidence I didn’t have. That bravado had a cost – isolation – and it took me about 4 years (and another kid) before I started to be honest. Honest with myself and real with others. I finally let my guard down and admitted, “I’m not perfect, and I need help sometimes, but overall I’m doing alright at this and I’ve found a few things that help.”

What I learned are the same things that Becky Keife learned, and she shares them all and MORE here in wise, warm, consoling words. Her 10 beautiful “how-to” chapters cover everything from finding real friendship, losing your cool and recovering from it, to regaining proper perspective when circumstances threaten your balance (every day, right?). She offers heartwarming stories from the trenches of her own life, practical tips, and powerful prayers you can use right away.

Becky Keife ‘gets’ us moms. All the pressures, all the expectations, and most importantly, all that negative talk we have rolling around in our heads. She tells us to lay it all down at God’s feet and let Him extend to us His grace. Lots of Grace.

Don’t wait years to try to learn all this stuff on your own. Get your copy of this book today.

"Dear mama, in case you need to hear it, let me say it plainly. There is nothing wrong with you. If motherhood has unearthed a hidden vault of weakness and inadequacy, you are normal." (page 183)

I love this book! I mean I really love this book! In No Better Mom for the Job, Becky Keife talks about insecurities and inadequacies that you may feel as a mother. Becky shares through personal experience insights that will help encourage you as a mom. Although Becky writes as a mom of elementary age children she often reflects back on the time when her three children were in diapers.

"The season you're in today will not alway be this way. Let this fuel your gratitude for what is and your hope for what is to come" (page 192)

As a mom of older children I found this book a huge encouragement. I enjoyed taking the time to reflect on what I do well. I think as moms we often reflect on what we don’t do well. Becky encourages listing what it is that you do well. She also encourages reaching out for others as a support system and other encouragement along the journey. Becky just doesn’t just share it. She also gives practical advice. As I said I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I would recommend this book!

"Oh Motherhood, you are breathtakingly beautiful and heartbreakingly brutal" (page 195).

I am halfway through finishing this book, “No Better Mom for the Job” by Becky Keife, and it has begun to change not only the way I view motherhood, but also how I see myself as a mother. It has been a great source of encouragement, empowerment, and inspiration as I journey through motherhood each and every day.

I happen to be on the launch team of this book. It has been so incredible and heartwarming to see Becky’s heart behind the scenes and to read such God-inspired words on these pages, realizing that the woman I have gotten to know on the launch team is actually the same woman I hear speaking to me as a friend through this book. Her honesty, simplicity, and genuineness in telling her story and Sharing what the Lord says makes me feel I am not alone, and heartens me to be the best mom for my children no matter The mistakes I make and even if I sometimes feel inadequate.

I highly recommend that every mom read this book, especially if that mom wishes to be more confident as a mom and to find freedom in the hope that despite her imperfections, God made her the right mom for her kids.

Though I have survived the "in the trenches" years of motherhood, I stand on the sidelines while each of my four daughters are walking through those years. The rewards are great, but the struggle is real. I remember the shock and hurt when my oldest--at the wise old age of 3 years!--shouted "I hate you!" when I limited whatever behavior it was she wanted to do at that moment.

"No Better Mom For the Job" includes real-life situations and struggles, plus encouragement and truth for moms that are in the thick of it. Becky is truly as sweet and authentic as her writing voice sounds.

If you don't need this book yourself, you certainly know a mom or two that could benefit from the wisdom and humor in these pages. And even better yet, the book is available on audio, read by Becky herself--perfect for the busy days of a mom in the trenches of raising her littles!

Becky Keife’s style of writing, personal stories, and heartfelt encouragement made it so hard to put down. You will be so blessed by this book and be able to look at yourself as a mother in a whole new beautiful way.

I have had the pleasure of hearing Becky speak and share about her journey of motherhood several times and each time I have walked away feeling encouraged, understood and supported. I am beyond thrilled that her words are now written down in a book that I can share with all my mama friends! I just finished reading chapter 3 and I can’t wait to read the rest! Becky is so real and honest and I know this book is going to bless so many mamas on their own motherhood journeys!

This is a most wonderful book and resource for any and all moms in all seasons of raising kids.
Becky Keife’s writing is spot on, and she approaches the subject of moms wondering if they are the best mom, by being transparent and honest.
She writes from her life’s experiences and has herself gone through periods of doubting her own job of mothering.
She provides God’s grace for the moms out there.
Enjoy!

I've read a lot of parenting books over the last 15 years, but I have never read one that made me cry before page three. It's incredible the way Becky's voice lifts off the pages and whispers in your ear, that "Yes, you were made for this mothering job. That God didn't make a mistake in making you the mother of your child." This book is the perfect read for a mom of sweet babies all the way up to the grown children leaving the nest. Top of my suggested reading list for moms!

This book brought me to tears as I listened on Scribd. It met me where I am drowning with two little boys and gave me a lifeline. My two big takeaways-God takes what (little) I have and makes it sufficient and it's okay to ask others for help/accept their offerings.

I recommend this to any mama struggling.

The best parenting book I’ve read in awhile!
I love how kind and gently she speaks to us — reminding us that God is not angry or disappointed in us — that He loves and cherishes us.
I love that it has unique, practical advice. Example! If you feel like you can’t leave the house because you got overwhelmed last time, get curious! Were you overwhelmed because the lights were too bright and the noise too loud? Go somewhere quieter and darker. Were you overwhelmed because your kid sometimes runs away? Visit a fenced-in park. Accommodate yourself instead of suffering needlessly.

Jesus, thank You that You don't expect me to be perfect. Thank You that You love me even when I painfully miss the mark. Help me grow in self-control and dependence on You when l'm tempted to lose it. Amen.

You can't wait to feel adequate. You have to believe and embrace that God made you the mom of your child on purpose.

Oh, Motherhood. You are breathtakingly beautiful and heartbreakingly brutal.

Later Mary had at least one very public mothering blunder. Nothing too big. Ya know, just losing her son on a family trip.

Christ's earthly body knit together in a mother's womb.
His earthly rearing entrusted to a mother's care.
God is intentional. He is purposeful.
Whether you said yes to motherhood through fostering or adopt-ing, caring for your grandchild, nephew, or niece, whether you carefully planned your baby's conception or your little one's arrival was the most unplanned thing you've ever experienced -God chose you! You weren't a roll of the dice or the short straw.

If you are looking for a book that gives you a “how-to” in raising little ones well, then this is NOT for you. However, if you are looking to know you are not alone on this journey of motherhood and you need reassurance that actually, you are doing a good job, then you totally have the right book. Becky is so open an honest and shares vulnerably about her experiences as a mother to three spirited boys.

Reading through this book is almost like Becky is with you by your side cheering you on and helping you to press in to the One. She is the friend you have always wanted. Someone who gets what it’s like and how tough it is and gently steers you in the right direction.

At the end of each chapter, Becky writes some simple steps to follow which will aid your motherhood journey and your journey with Christ. She also writes a short powerful prayer which can be written out on a piece of paper. That way you can pull it out whenever you need to repeat a prayer to help you in those manic motherhood moments.

I can’t recommend this book enough for any mother who feels like they are struggling on this road of parenting. Let’s face it, it’s a tough lonely job at times and we need as much encouragement as possible. This is the book you are going to need by your side in those hard hitting motherhood moments. Thank you so much for your encouraging words Becky. I only wish I had this book 10 years ago when I was starting on this journey.
