On a quest to find her missing sister Amber, Emily finds herself in the middle of an age-old conflict between vampires and werewolves. When she runs into trouble, Emily is rescued by an anomaly of the supernatural realm: the handsome vampire-werewolf hybrid, William. Now caught between two worlds, they must navigate the vampire and werewolf courts to try and save Amber, themselves, and whatever peace that remains between the feuding species. With countless dangers at every turn a twisted vampire queen, a bloodthirsty Coven, and a power-hungry werewolf king who will stop at nothing to dominate the magical world Emily's courage will be tested. She must become a part of a world she never knew existed to thwart plans of uprooting the reality she holds dear.
Tally Adams has been writing all her life, realizing at a young age the characters just swirl around maddeningly in her head if she doesn't put them on paper. She began participating in adult writing competitions before she even hit her teens. Years later, she worked as a nurse and continued to write. Finally, she decided to move forward into the world of publication and share her imaginary friends with the world.
Emily's goal has always been to save her sister from herself. When she is missing again, Emily has read up on the werewolves that captured her and is ready to do anything to save her. She underestimates the strength of the werewolves, but William - a werewolf/vampire half breed - and Naoli - a vampire - inexplicably rescue her and her sister. William has to fight who he is and not scare Emily away, but wants desperately to protect her. Something went wrong with her sister changing, so they are off to the Coven - the governing body of the immortal world. Will they be able to help, as fractured as their government is? Or will they just be thrust into more danger?
I've always enjoyed paranormal fantasy - usually prefer a little lighter on the romance angle - but I couldn't put this book down. I read it over the course of two evenings and just wanted more! I enjoyed the characters (especially Naoli! - what a guy!), the different take on werewolves and vampires, and the plot of this story. My biggest complaints are I just wanted more. How did Emily discover her sister was taken by werewolves and how did she just dig up info on the internet? That was brushed over. There was a part near...the middle (don't want to give anything away)...where learning is taking place, and I'd love to have that spelled out more. There were just a few places where the story skipped in time that I would have enjoyed reading.
Otherwise, great book, and I'd highly recommend! Ends with a big old cliffhanger so I'd love to read more - but it looks like a second one isn't out as of right now.
I'll go 9 of 10 for enjoyment and 4 of 5 for readability. If you enjoy this genre, check this out!

This book is severely underrated. Probably the most underrated book I’ve read to date. I actually have a bit of a book hang over from it . It doesn’t seem like it got a lot or even a little traction so I’m a little concerned about whether or not I’ll get a conclusion to this series. That is the one negative. The second book was published, but the third was scheduled to be published in 2021 and I haven’t seen an explanation for why it wasn’t when I was going through the author’s socials. That aside, I really enjoyed reading this and I’m bummed about possibly not getting the opportunity to read it’s conclusion. It was a great fantasy read that I sorely needed right now. I did find Emily to be slightly annoying at times even though I understood her reasoning. I was very glad when she saw her sister for who she was and accepted the new life she was now apart of. Things just got better as the story progressed and it had such a fun dynamic between their new “flock.” I am also a little bummed that the story won’t continue with Emily and William’s POV as much as I want to know Paoli’s story. We just didn’t get enough of them together and things happened so quickly. So despite them having a connection, there were no profound feelings so I feel like we deserve another book with those two to see things progress.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. The blurb of this book is what drew me into read this novel. I like the Emily character and I am undecided about Amber and William just yet. I know this is only te first book in a series. This basically a book of one sister saving the other from herself. It is also a struggle and conflict between to powerful supernatural factions the vampires and werewolves. I enjoyed the fact that there is a hybrid in this book. I normally only see that in the movies. Well this combination anyways. I want to see what the rest of this series brings.
I did not realise at first that this is the start of a series and it would end with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed this first part it is very entertaining. Any shifter series that differs from the norm is a welcome change. This one definately does that, and in a very good way. It is an exciting and engrossing story with werewolves and vampires.
This isn’t the usual Vampire and Werewolf book. I picked up this book by chance while shopping at Barnes and Noble. The book starts off with a bang and keeps going throughout. When I finished the last chapter I wanted more! Now about the writing. The book flowed well. No hiccups! I was able to feel the emotions of the characters.
I love stories that take a new view at a popular theme. Stephanie Meyer and J.K. Rowling did exactly that and the world of paranormal romance changed. Look out! Here comes Tally Adams.
Great start to this new paranormal romance. It's different from any I've read so it was an exciting new world. It has a lot of supporting characters that are interesting so I can see this going far. Now I just can't wait for the second book.
This book was pretty blah to me. There were some exciting ideas that I'm excited to see Adams explore in future installments, but nothing in Shadow Pact gripped me enough to keep me interested in the story. If you're a fan of 90s and early 00s supernatural TV and movies, you've seen a lot of what happens in this book before. That being said, the promise of exploring characters other than William and Emily may lead me to picking up the second book.
I received an e-galley of this book on Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review
WOW! This book is the absolute best read I've had in the paranormal romance genre in a very long time. The writer's story-telling/world-building is exceptional, and William and Emily are memorable & intense lead characters. Also, did I mention this book is sexy? William is the perfect mix of overprotective growly alpha-male and sensitive "I would die for you" hero. (My new book-boyfriend!) In a world where the whole werewolf/vampire trope has been overdone, Shadow Pact breathes fresh life into the concept. Without spoiling the book's plot, I'll just say author Tally Adams has managed to create a very interesting story-line which introduces a whole cast of hybrid human/wolf/vampire characters. All of whom, I hope, will receive their own books! I just saw online that Adams' second in this Immortal Series (Whispered Bonds) is being released in the next couple of weeks. YAY! Bring me some Paoli!!!
