The Republic fast attack RSS Tang is on a normal training mission. Her captain, Commander Claire Fontaine, is new to the seat. She’ll soon find out what her ship and crew are made of...in a trial by fire. *** THE SPACERS is the third and final installment in a series of three novella-length stories, each one a stand-alone prequel to my military science fiction novel, FLEET OPPOSED, the first book of THE HAN WARS series (release date October 1, 2019). In each of the three stories, THE AVIATORS, THE INFANTRY, and THE SPACERS, you'll get a glimpse inside three different service communities in the Republic Combined Fleet, and maybe meet a few characters who will make an appearance in FLEET OPPOSED or subsequent books. You don’t have to read the prequels in order, but it might help “prep the battlefield” for FLEET OPPOSED. All three novellas are now available in single paperback volume titled FLEET OPPOSED - THE PREQUELS. If you're a reader who prefers a dead tree version, I've got you covered!

Well this was a refreshing view of the space opera/interstellar war genre. After reading all three of the prequels, I find myself barely able to control my excitement for the upcoming books! It was packed with excitement just like I felt at the start of the remade Battlestar Galactica
This is the third novella in the prequel series to Fleet Opposed - Book 1 of the Han Wars. The author has left me anxiously awaiting the release of this new series. He has done an excellent job of re-imagining ship-to-ship combat in space, and created characters I want to learn the fates of in future books.
I love how these 3 prequels all told their own stories from different perspectives in the military but tie together. I can't wait to start the Han Wars and see where all this goes... (war maybe?)
An excellent final novella in the Fleet Opposed series to set up the full fledged Han Wars trilogy.
This one follows the new captain of a destroyer class starship and her crew as the first signs of the 100 year peace with the Han comes to an end. It ties in neatly with the other two novellas that focused on the Aviators and the Infantry.
Once again you get a ton of military jargon, which really fits for these military sci-fi books, but never feels like it bogs things down. At least for me it reads really smoothly and feels more like watching a movie than reading a book. It definitely draws you into the action and makes you feel like you are part of the crew.
I'm excited to see where the full trilogy takes things.
This novella was a fun read and is a great start to the series. Reading the novellas helpS to fill in parts from the novel. There are a few errors throughout, but mostly easy reading.
