Aspiring Doula - Mini Guide

I’m hoping you are downloading this guide because you are thinking about becoming a doula and you are curious about finding out a bit more. I’ve put this little mini-guide together so that you can get more of an insight and some ideas before you book onto a course. I think one of the most important things is that you book on a course that has been approved by Doula UK. I also believe that if you’re going to be a doula, you should also learn from experienced doulas rather than go on a training course taught by midwives or other medical professionals. The role of the doula is very different and can, in my view, only be truly explored and discovered in a course that is being facilitated by an experienced doula.

Kicki Hansard was born in Swedish Lapland, the magical land of the midnight sun and the Northern Lights. In 2005, she took part in a television programme called 'Mum + One' about doulas and she received the Pregnancy & Birth Magazine and Doula UK award of "Doula of the Year" in 2009. "The Secrets of Birth" is Kicki's first book and she is also a chapter contributor to the book "The Roar Behind the Silence".
