Connor Murray is back! While fighting for his life in a personal crisis, Connor realizes to his shock, he must also fight his own government. L. Todd Wood graduated from U.S. Air Force Academy in 1986 and chose helicopter flight training. An assignment to the 20th Special Operations Squadron flying MH-53J Pave Low helicopters saw him deployed globally in support of counter terrorism. His customers included SEAL Team 6 and Delta Force under control of the National Command Authority. In 1994, he left the Air Force as a Captain and joined an investment bank which eventually brought him to Wall Street trading emerging market debt. He has conducted business in over forty countries. His first novel, " Currency", was published in December of 2011. Although historical fiction, it jumps to the future to deal with the national debt and its security implications. " Currency" has been endorsed by the Hon. David M. Walker, former Comptroller General of the U.S. The book has received national press and extraordinary reviews.
He is a national security columnist for the Washington Times and has contributed to Fox Business, NY Post, The Moscow Times, Zero Hedge, Breitbart, Jerusalem Post, and others.
Sugar is an interesting and thought-provoking book by L Todd Wood. Firstly, I must say, I was very happy to see Connor Murray, back in action! As a Connor Murray fan, I would say, read Currency and then Sugar as it will provide more background to Connor. The book begins with a brief history which bastions the story. The historical background involves slave trade in the Indies and also about Islamic influence in the Middle East. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Roopa, a Jatt in the Punjab region of India. Later on, Connor Murray comes into action despite battling personal crisis. The journey forward is thrilling and throws light on the present day scenario of the relationship between Muslim extremists and America. The author has proved his ability to be able to blend historical fact with fiction. All in all, his compelling narrative style and amazing vocabulary have added more to his wonderful story. A must-read for all! L Todd Wood has not let down his fans after his best-selling Currency. Looking forward to the next book by the author. Loved it. “Pa Ka!”
I have just finished the marvelous 'Sugar' which is L. Todd Wood's second novel. What an amazing read! What starts as a most entertaining historical narrative in the tradition of great story telling takes a swift turn to a rapid pace contemporary thriller one simply cannot put down. The author continues to indulge the readers with his knowledgeable and observant understanding for history and geopolitics. He certainly has a talent for explaining in most entertaining and pleasurable manner complex historical events and their consequences that do indeed linger on in our modern day world and influence our lives more than we wish for. Unlike the majority of contemporary thrillers 'Sugar' impresses also with rich vocabulary and most enjoyable etymological teasers. All in all, while reading it I couldn't help but feel like I am sitting leisurely in a comfortable lounge, listening to a vivid story being told by a friend.
The first chapters made for better reading with characters, such as Roopa and Ram, who were much more interesting those later on, featuring Connor Murray.
Sugar is a novel from L.Todd Wood, who is a genius in mixing the historical facts and fiction. This book takes us from the slave trade in the Indies to the Islamic influence in the Middle East. A wonderful combination of historical fact and fiction.
His talent for breaking down complex events, not to mention their continuing effects on us today and what those consequences are is done in a way that is easy to read and understand. Mr. Wood's books are always entertaining and educational. A combo you can't beat.
This is a must read book in understanding our relationship with Muslim extremists and America.
5 Stars. I think we may need Mr. Wood in Washington!
Okay-with the first 100 pages, basically a historical backstory, I would have thought I'd be bored or wonder when will the story start? But that was not the case!!! Each vignette was fascinating on its own and then the Connor action started and of course, that went a mile a minute. So many interesting facts along with an interesting plot-well done!
Amazing how many different generations all seemed to tie together. Different abusers all eventually paying for all they did until the end. Quite the inspiration to look for a continuation of the story.
