This book was so good and I will definitely keep it on my shelf as a research tool for later. I bought it on a pre-order because I was so excited to read it! After researching for several months in 2018, I was finally able to trace my ancestors back to Norway with the help of some friends. As I got more invested, I found I was soon e-mailing with Norwegians and even got in contact with a few distant relatives! In 2019, I traveled to Norway to see where my ancestors walked and it was life-changing! I was able to visit the family farm, see the churches and burial sites, and meet distant cousins. Fryxell seems to have gone on a very similar journey as me but I still have learned a lot from him. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to study their Scandinavian heritage! 🇳🇴🇸🇪🇩🇰

Part history lesson, part genealogy. Fryxell has done an excellent job of simplifying research skills and genealogy sites for Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. There are a lot of photographic examples of forms and site pages. Even if you do not have Scandinavian ancestors, you can use all the tips and relevant sites for your own family history.
