I write children's books about science and am a huge sci-fi fan myself. I have a PhD in biochemistry, a BS in chemistry, four kids, six chickens, and too many plants.

I hope my books make science more real to children, offering them excitement, context, and an outlet to begin to investigate and participate in the science all around them. Reading and learning fill my heart with joy and I love to share that wondrous feeling.

Seriously, can we hand this out to adults, too? This is an educational, cute, and engaging book about vaccines. While it's definitely over the heads of babies, it does speak in kid-friendly terms with its young audience, and never talks down to them. This is definitely a timely read!

My daughter loves this book! It has really helped her - and me! - understand something that all the adults are talking about and to understand why she gets those pesky shots at the doctor's each year. She asks to read this almost every night!

I’m surprised but delighted by this book. It features the scientific, accurate names for diseases, biology, etc. while still using language that’s accessible and easy for kids to understand.

This is a simple but thorough explanation of how vaccines tell your immune system what to do when it encounters diseases. Vaccines can be scary, but knowing why you're getting them helps!

I love how this board book uses real scientific terms about vaccines and the immune system. While it’s sturdy enough to read to babies, it’s also a great human body book for toddlers and big kids! Cute illustrations lighten the mood and simplify the complex topic of immunology for young learners.

Worked well for the 6-year-old I read it to - the use of shape patterns on the edges of the germs & antigens was a good visualization to show the different things our bodies have figured out how to fight. Kiddo got interested in more information on how the immune system's different cells work.

My friend’s kid was obsessed with this book and then had the easiest vaccine experience - the nurse even commented on it.
