As far as I can remember I've wanted to write a novel. I began with writing for companies and publications; always hoping I would write a book some day. After 18 years as a freelance writer I finally did that in 2014. My debut book - A Forgotten Affair was published in 2016 by Harper Collins.
I now write fiction, well into my second book. I enjoy writing about relationships and complexities in them. I believe the beauty of relationships lie in the complications because they deal with human emotions. I like to deal with these complications in the stories I write.
When I'm not writing I like to read, watch TV shows, films and try my hand at gardening.
This is one book you can't give a miss! The characters are not only deep and dark but also stand true to their nature till the end. The plot is seamlessly woven in such a way that characters drive it along throughout and not the other way around.
It's fast paced (thank God... I hate fluff), engaging and a total page turner.
It was pretty itchy when I had to take a break for few hours before finishing the book! I had the urge to read and know what happens next. Finished it in 2 sittings. The twist at the end paid off!
The story is good and fast-paced. The characters are interesting, and the author's language is smooth. The psyche of a woman who would go to any extent to defend her criminal husband is well-portrayed.
But this novel could have been better and longer. Kanchana Banerjee could have fleshed out all characters and incidents in greater detail, and "shown" us everything, instead of "telling" it. For example, the court trials are not even described but just done away with in a few sentences.
But overall, it's a nice read. Finished it in a few hours.
