This was my first time to read through the Bible chronologically rather than book by book, and it was a beautiful experience. Now what can I do? Begin it again!

Given the fact that the Bible, the Word of God, is not written in chronological order this is a great read for those who wonder what the actual timing is on the Word of God. I would say the only negative thing about reading the Bible this way is when the different books speak of the same event. Then you get two to three accounts of the same piece of history. Which is a good thing from an apologist standpoint but can be quite repetitive.

This is the second year in a row that I have read the One Year Bible. This one is written in chronological order, and I much prefer reading it this way. It helps the reader put events in the correct perspective, particularly when certain books of the Bible repeat events. The other version I read was set up with a part of the Old Testament, part of the New Testament, a Psalm, and a Proverb to read each day. I like that because you get a variety each day, but I prefer to read it chronologically to keep people and events in perspective.

Been reading the Bible in this chronological format for 5 years, lots of breaks to do other reading programs but it was interesting to finish and see the order of things and where books and psalms get inter mixed.

Using an app on my phone worked great for me as a tool for reading the Bible in a year. While I'm glad I finished, and it was a good experience to do once, I don't think I will ever try to read it that quickly again. The OT is huge and I found myself getting overwhelmed with how often the Israelites got in trouble. The Lord is a holy God, and I'm so thankful He is also all loving and that Jesus took the wrath for my sins. My next time through the Bible will be at a much slower pace, with commentaries.

About the NLT. I didn't realize it was a paraphrase when I started this. It seems to be mostly accurate. It's a light paraphrase. Still, I would not choose it again. I tried to switch in the middle of the reading plan but it kept switching me back, so I gave up. So technically I did not finish the NLT. There were several chapters that I read in other versions.

If you have not read the entire Bible, please do. It has the power to change your life like no other book ever written.

"The One Year Chronological Bible NLT," produced by Todd Busteed, offers a transformative approach to engaging with scripture, inviting readers to experience the Bible as a cohesive, unfolding narrative rather than a collection of disparate texts. This edition is more than just a reading plan; it's a carefully curated journey through the timeline of God's interaction with humanity.

Here's why this work resonates deeply:

Immersive Narrative:
By arranging the Bible chronologically, this edition allows readers to witness the interconnectedness of events and the progressive revelation of God's plan. It transforms familiar stories into a living, breathing epic.

Enhanced Understanding:
The chronological format illuminates the historical context of scripture, shedding light on the relationships between different books and periods. This enhances comprehension and fosters a deeper appreciation for the Bible's overarching message.

Accessible Language:
The use of the New Living Translation (NLT) ensures that the text is clear, contemporary, and accessible to a wide audience. This makes the Bible more approachable for both seasoned readers and those new to scripture.

Disciplined Engagement:
The one-year format provides a structured framework for daily engagement with the Bible, fostering a consistent and transformative spiritual practice. It encourages readers to cultivate a deeper relationship with God through sustained interaction with His Word.

Transformative Journey:
This is more than just reading. It is a journey. A journey that allows the reader to travel through time, and see the big picture of the bible. It allows for a greater understanding of Gods plan, and how the entire bible links together.

This edition is a valuable tool for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of the Bible and experience its transformative power. It invites readers to embark on a year-long pilgrimage through scripture, emerging with a renewed sense of awe and wonder at the grand narrative of God's love and redemption. It is not just about reading the bible, it is about experiencing it.

I wanted to see what it was like to read the bible in chronological format: spoiler alert? Not nearly as enjoyable as I was expecting it to be. hahaha It essentially means that you read the same passages back to back, frequently, and you read the Old Testament alone for what felt like 3/4 of the year. It was much more enjoyable to read at the end of the year, but by then my habit wasn't as solid because I hadn't been enjoying this format. Maybe a valuable thing to do once in your life, but I would not recommend reading the bible in this format, for the most part.

I liked this version because it was easy to read and that enabled me to read it in a shorter period of time. It won't be my "go to" translation" though. I much preferred the ESV translation. The chronological format was sometimes a great way to dig deeper and sometimes a challenge when I couldn't stay with the current book/scripture passage.

If you've ever been confused by the books of the Old Testament ("Didn't I just read about this? When did that happen?"), this one year reading plan is for you. Strictly Biblical text, there are no devotions, so if you're looking for devotional materials, you may want to supplement this one year Bible with another devotional book.

Who can review the Bible? My review is only of the narration.

I loved the narrator and his calm voice. I missed hearing the verses labeled as they were read though. If I found a verse inspiring and wanted to take note of it, I had to go to the kindle version and look it up.
I didn’t follow the daily reading schedule but listen to as much as my schedule allowed each day.

I have read through the Bible yearly for many years now. Each time I glean more wisdom, and each time I find there is still so much more I want to gain and retain and be able to share. Each version gives more insight and hope and each daily reading gives something more to think about throughout the day.

Very well narrated! This isn't a dramatized version (no sound effects or background music), but the narrator speaks like a person. I feel like finding that sweet spot along the spectrum between fully dramatized and robotic is really hard with the Bible, but this one is done very well.

The NLT makes a few odd translation decisions, (e.g. translating what is usually rendered something like "know" as "have sex with" in Genesis which really flattens the word and removes any sort of broader meaning from the situation.)

I found the chronological interleaving of passages to be interesting. Neat to hear how Isaiah/Jeremiah/Ezekiel (especially) fit together with like Daniel and Kings/Chronicles.

Super interesting look at when the Bible was written. Was intrigued to read Chronicles alongside many of the OT books. It was also a different perspective to read some of the same NT parables by different authors. Thought provoking overall.

I fell short of completing this read through of the Bible by not completing it by year end. I love God’s word. Every time I read it I find things I missed before. I strongly recommend reading the Bible in chronological order to all who want to know God.

Love this Bible! Going through it in chronological order puts a new perspective on it! Very refreshing! I loved listening to the audio version on my long commute. And the narrator did a great job!

I love reading God’s word, but reading it in order isn’t something that I’d recommend. It was interesting to keep events in order, but made reading it very redundant at times.
