A young boy awakens to small bite mark on his arm. Then he hears thumping outside his bedroom window, then chains rattling, and high-pitched screeching. Outside his window, he notices the lights of the nearby basketball court shining in the full moonlight. The players are all hairy-too hairy... Could they be werewolves? With short chapters, easy-to-read text, and enhanced back matter, Boo Books deliver just-right frights (without the sleepless nights) for the earliest readers.
Eh...
I call this series "Horror Lite" for your little one. My seven year old and I have been reading these together at bedtime. He digs that they are short, to the point, and a little odd. I mean, we knew he was going to become a werewolf but didn't see it being because they needed another player lol! Cute twist.
Also, can I just say, how refreshing it is to see a boy character with LONG hair. My son has long hair (longer than the main character, but still) and we never see him reflected in books. Why do boys in picture books and readers/chapter books always have shorter hair. It's a small thing, but a BIG deal if you never see yourself reflected in books. So yay for long haired boys! In fact, I'm bumping this book up to five stars just for depicting a boy with long hair. Thanks Boo Books!
