About the author!

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn't open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn't need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.


I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don't ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes - I want them to know they are making a difference.

Brodie had fought his nature. He had repressed and denied his shifter half since the night his first shift had taken those he loved most away from him. He kept his head down and embraced a pacifist lifestyle. So the forced invitation to anger management came as a surprise, as did the sudden assault charge and the discovery that the government had now set their sights on shifters. Long ago dangerous dogs had been driven to extinction, now it seemed the same was about to happen to certain breeds of shifters. Brodie finds himself in an impossible situation. He can either submit to Zeus and embrace all that he is, or find himself imprisoned and without rights. It seemed an impossible choice, and he is certain there is more to Zeus' agenda than meets the eye. Can he find the strength to uncover the truth and do what needs to be done?

Tails Always Wins is an urban paranormal fantasy written by C.A. King. it focuses on Brodie and Tails as the central characters, and their coming together against the odds. Both are remarkable in their own right, and together they are a team to be reckoned with. The plot is gripping, entertaining, and a precursor to so much more. Watching the characters evolve and discover the truth about each other, their pasts, and what the future could hold was brilliant. Challenges and uncertainty merge with prejudices and injustice to create a gripping and enchanting plot with a few twists and surprises in store. Tails is a remarkable character, strong, courageous, and more than a little manipulative. I look forward is seeing what happens in the next book of the Chasing Tails series.

Tails Always Wins is the first book in the Chasing Tails Series by C.A. King. This is a paranormal thriller- with an interesting and thought provoking story, which has a distinct dystopian feel to it. The story is everything I have come to expect from Ms. King- well written, intriguing, engaging, dramatic- and with a bit of a hidden ‘message’. The characters are quite complex, fully developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks and flaws- and written so well that they seemed very realistic and believable.
We are introduced to Brodie, who lives in a world where the government had imposed quite sever laws- which resulted in the extinction of several species. Now the government has targeted shifters, and Brodie is swept up in the net. He has always led a peaceful life, but now he has to choose to either face imprisonment and possible death- or join in the fight. He is sure there is more to the resistance and the situation than first meets the eye. Is there a hidden agenda? Will he uncover the truth? What will he do when the truth is revealed? And what part does Tails play in the story? All these answers and so much more can be found between the covers of this terrific story.
There are challenges to be faced as this adventure unfolds. Brodie and Tails will have to work together to beat the odds and figure things out. I followed along every step of the way as these two grew and developed over the course of the story, learning much about themselves, each other, about the past, and what the future may hold. It was so well done; with a few unexpected developments I definitely didn’t see coming. What a brilliant way to start a new series. I can’t wait to see where we go from here!

“Tails Always Wins” is a fascinating first book in a new series. The premise (humanity against shifters) was haunting not only on its own but also because it draws a parallel between fictional events and very real genocides that have already happened and keep happening in our world. Certain things, such as stripping the shifters of their rights, imprisoning them without any reason, and even going as far as experimenting on them in special facilities happened to very real people in the past, and such eerie parallels definitely make “Tails Always Wins” an important read.
Brodie and Tails were wonderful central characters. I loved watching them grow as people and take charge of their own fate, which was by no means an easy feat under Zeus’s autocratic guidance. I very much enjoyed this new first installment in the series and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

I loved this book,where shifters and humans clash. This is a creative story that has well developed characters that pull you into the story and made it feel real. This story takes place in a world that is full of injustice and prejudice. A breed registry is created for dogs but what will happen when they had shifters to the mix? I enjoyed watching Brodie and Tails grow throughout the story, they made great characters. What will happen when they take charge of their future? A must read!

Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King was an exciting and creative novel. The author expressed an excellent imagination with this novel. King filled this book with great characters and developed each of them well. I loved the main character’s backstory at the beginning and felt that it really pulled me in. This book also had an easy to follow storyline. I loved this novel and I highly recommend it!

Where shifters fight for the right to exist without fear of just being alive. A world where anything other than human is enough to put you away or find your life forfeit. It is engaging and intriguing, and as always, C.A has popped a surprise just to keep us one our toes. The story is well crafted and unique and the MC’s are likeable and their treatment will make your heartache. Then there are others that you will really, really dislike.

It is a great start to this new series and I can’t wait to see where C.A. takes us!

I really hope Ms. King has a follow-up book to Brodie and Tails' story. The story hits a lot of hot button topics: discrimination, the lust for power, treatment of those who are different, and threats of extinction. The characters of Tails and Brodie are oh so likable and Zeus is the kind of bad guy you love to hate. In typical C.A. King fashion, just when you think everything is settled, she tosses in a twist that makes you want more. Shifters seem to be at the mercy of humans, but are they?

Overview: A wily and irresistible female fox-shifter named Tails, who’s been mistreated and abused by her egomaniacal guardian, learns of his evil plan to enslave others of their kind to build an army and take over the world.

Author C.A. King pens a dark supernatural thriller in which shifters are subject to horrific bigotry and injustice by human society. Tails, the protagonist at the center of it all, takes it upon herself to learn all she can about her boss’ plans before teaming up with a handsome but naive male shifter, named Brodie, to lead a rebellion, of sorts, and break up the illicit paramilitary organization that kidnapped them. The author’s plotline is quite familiar to paranormal fantasy fans but remains intriguing since there is much danger and excitement included along the way to keep readers interested in this story.

King’s tale is somewhat reminiscent of X-Men with the plotline leading to the inception of Charles Xavier’s school for mutant children. Tails and Brodie become the protectors and guardians of the shifters they rescue from their illegal prison, but instead of a school, they set up a commune that’s somewhat isolated and protected from human society. The story’s villain is an egomaniac, much like Magneto, who wants nothing more than to form an army of shifters and wipe humans off the face of the earth under his command, of course.

Tails, King’s main female protagonist, is a female lead with some depth and a tortured past. But much like many fantasy novel leading ladies, this sexy vixen seems to woo her way into getting what she wants. Tails has to rely on sex, or rather sexual suggestion, to compel her targets to follow her wishes even though she is a smart, street-wise, and savvy shifter who is competent enough to plan a takeover of a para-military facility. It’s almost a shame that her main talent is being sexy and irresistible to men since she has more than enough wits and wiles to get her way.

There is a good degree of originality to this story, and the framework for a simple fantasy plotline is there, allowing for further development of this novel into a series with characters whose shifting skills will keep paranormal fantasy fans interested in this series. I recommend this read for young adult fantasy fans who love shifters who hand out social justice.

The story Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King is a wonderful shifter book. It pulled me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put the book down until I had finished the last page. It is a story that includes not only an interesting and entertaining storyline it also has 2 main characters that grew to care about with each chapter that I read. They are Brodie and Tails. Brodie is a shifter that keeps his nose clean. He doesn’t make waves. He keeps one side of himself hidden from society. He is finding it hard to stay under the radar. He then meets Tails. Tails is a woman who is strong, intelligent, and beautiful. Before she meets Brodie she never would have thought to question what she is told. What does the future hold for Brodie and Tails? Read this book to find out. There are moments that are sad, ones that are emotional, and there are times when you wonder what is going to happen next. I love shifter stories and I can add this one to my list of favorites. The author has done an amazing job of creating an awesome story with amazing characters. I highly recommend reading it.

Tails Always Wins (Chasing Tails Book 1) by C.A. King was an original fast pace, thrilling read, that had me hooked from start to finish.

Wow, let's just say I had this book read in one sitting, and I'm sitting here wanting, no needing more. I loved this different take on shifters and humans. It was quite remarkable and like I said, I was hooked! The detail and story telling was rich and methodical, it pulled you in, and it not only made you feel like you were there, but you felt every emotion and injustice. It was something I tell you, it's something you have to experience for your self. I loved both MC's and the split POV, it added a that extra something that rounded out this story and made it all the more entertaining and connecting. The plot is on point, complex and flows nicely, you can see the direction clearly, and the dark tones, just adds to the layers of magic and wonder.

Overall this book is a solid 5 start + from me, and it gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval. I'm looking forward to more books in this series!

After a horrible childhood, Tails has dedicated her life for the cause of shifter freedom. In a world on hate, most humans look at shifters as nothing more than animals. All she wants is equality. Her boss tasks her with bringing a wolf shifter named Brodie to help their cause. Brodie has always lived under the radar, never bringing attention to what he really is. All that changes in a heartbeat. With nothing left but to go along with Tails, he has no idea if he can really trust her or the one she works for. But things may not be what they seem. Will they learn the truth? What can they do about it?

This is a great beginning to a series. The characters are great. They live in a very unjust society and all they want is to be free and happy. They story itself is quite interesting. I can't say I have read anything quite like it before. It is full of action too. I could not put the book down until I was finished. I hope to see much more of this series in the future.

Tails Always Wins is the first book in the Chasing Tails Series by C.A. King. This was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work but, having heard good things about the author, I decided to give this book a chance. I’m glad I made the decision. It is a fast paced paranormal thriller that had me gripped from the very beginning, right through to the very end.
In this book shifters and humans are at odds with each other. There are people who are experimenting on shifters to see what other powers they may have. Brodie and Tails are determined to do something to stop this.
This results in a great story that I really enjoyed. There was a great deal of suspense which had me totally gripped, wondering what would happen next. The story is fast paced and full of action which keeps the reader engrossed in the story.
I loved the characters of Brodie and Tails. Brodie just wants a quiet life and not to be dragged into a battle whereas Tails is so vibrant and full of life and can’t wait to get into battle.
I loved that the author ended this book with The End…or is it. This gives me great hope that there is more to come from Brodie and Tails.

Ms. King YOU ARE THE BOMB!!! Every time I pick up one of your books I am not disappointed. I love this series Chasing Tails. I have read book 1, Tails Always Wins and I am still in awe of what I just read. First things first, if for whatever reason you have not read any of Ms. King’s books I highly recommend all of them. Her stories are ALWAYS engaging, well-written, action packed, and always hides a little nugget of a message that she lets you find on your own. Tails Always Wins is a shifter story that has a little thriller going on with her characters, and is a fast read. This story is about Brodie. Now Brodie is a shifter who cannot afford to let everyone know he is a shifter. Now it is even harder because the laws of his world, he can be put to death because he is a shifter. He is the quiet type and now he has to decide what to do should he stand up for himself and other shifters or should he stand back on the side lines? In comes Tails that could switch up everything. How is Brodie going to react to Tails? Will Tails be Brodie’s undoing or will she help save him? I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for this new series.

Tails Always Win by C.A. King is a new paranormal romance book that I COULD NOT PUT DOWN! The book shows what the world would be like if the Shifters and Humans were against each other. Brodie, who has always wanted to remain hidden because of his animal nature, is given a choice, Death or get involved with the fight. His once peaceful life is thrown into turmoil. Then enters Tails, who has led an not easy life and has Brodie smitten. Together, they both find a world that doesn’t accept who they are and want to exploit them, can these two work together and make the changes the world needs? You must read to find out.
I loved this book and I love how the author gave us such a strong storyline. The characters are intriguing and I Loved reading how these two learned from the hardness of life to become better people. I was engaged from beginning to end and was hooked from page one. I highly recommend this 5 star read! I look forward to reading more in this series.

Tails Always Wins by C.A. King is the first book in the Chasing Tails series. This book is a brilliant start to yet another great new series by an amazing author.
C.A. King has become, very quickly, one of those authors that I don’t hesitate to read. Half the time I don’t even bother to read the description of the book because it won’t matter what it says, I know I will like what I read. She has such a way of telling a story that I instantly get lost in her words.
This book was up the usual high standards too. I felt instantly connected to the characters. I was drawn into their story and taken on an exciting journey with them. It was a well thought out, fast paced story that I flew through in no time at all.
This book also has to have one of my absolute favourite covers. It is so eye catching and vivid. I loved it the instant I saw it. I cannot wait to see what is next in this series.

Tails is a strong, beautiful woman who is not going to be told what to do. They are about to be confronted with evil that neither of them comprehend and they are both morally opposed to. This story teaches us we must not accept the status quo and we must fight cruelty that us as humans inflict on one another. Before Tails met Brodie she would never have questioned what she is told but she realizes she can't trust everyone. Will the shifters ever be accepted by human society or will they continue to be tortured and put in a box as bad until they are all gone? This is a fascinating story that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time and the love that grows between Brodie and Tails is remarkable.

I don't normally read this genre and was a bit worried going in but I was pleasantly surprised.

First I have to say..This cover is absolutely amazing.

This was a paranormal shifter story that hit so close to real life today. Its sad that some of what was going on in this book still to this day is a problem in real life for many.

I found myself hooked on Brodie right from the start and his story went haywire pretty quick. Then he meets Tails and as the title says Tails Always Wins. She wasn't too sure at first but found herself questioning everything including her own feelings. Working together they became a force and I found myself laughing out loud a few times.

This was an awesome book and not my first by this author. I can not wait to see what she comes up with next.

This is a great adventure story about shifters and humans.

Brodie is a shifter who has a rough start in life when his parents die in an accident.
Brodie grew up, keeping his nose clean so as not to draw attention to himself.
However when he gets sent to a meeting about controlling his anger, he finds out that shifters are now on a dangerous animals list, and they want to lock him up.

On the day of the trial he gets saved by a foxy lady called Tails. All her life Tails has used her skills in the art of getting favours from people. After she speaks with the judge Brodie gets to walk free.

But things arent all they seem. Tails's boss wants Brodie to join them in the revolutionary fight against the humans trying to imprison them and to get their rights back so they are seen as humans and not animals

I have read quite a few books by this author now and I always enjoy her imaginative and detailed writing. The genre of this book isn’t one I usually choose to read but the blurb sounded intriguing so I gave it a go. Overall I really enjoyed it, it was nice to read something a little different and I liked that the story was very unpredictable. The characters were interesting to read about and I was fully invested in what I was reading. The author threw in some great and unexpected twists and turns which meant I was guessing what was going to happen in the story the whole way through – this definitely helped keep my interest!
I am definitely looking forward to seeing if the author takes this forward further – I know I’ll definitely be on the lookout for a follow up book!

Once again C.A. King does NOT disappoint! I couldn’t put it down, especially near the end.
In this story, the world is a dangerous place. This is especially true if you are born different or with abilities that normal humans do not trust or understand.
When Tails meets Brodie, their adventure is not all what they first thought it to be. Alliances are made; trust is shattered. Everything that Tails has been working for has been a lie. After explaining the situation to Brodie and convincing him that her quest is impossible without him, the two embark on a journey that could lead them to death, freedom, or maybe even love.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes an easy to follow, impossible to put down book! Grab yours today! I am anxious to read more by this amazing author!

Tails always wins is a new one for me in the sense that I never really go for these type of genre. It’s a well written story that brings up a lot of controversial topics. Brodie is a shifter but keeps that side of himself hidden, but as each day that passes it becomes harder to hide. Tails has had a crappy start to her life but she all she really wants is equality. Tails character portrays a strong and intelligent woman. She basically has to get Brodie to go along with her to be a part of “movement”. Brodie is then faced with knowing that he is now to be used as a means to rid the world of his species. This story felt to be one of injustices, discrimination and letting history repeat itself. Will Tails and Brodie be able to see past their animosity and work together to overcome evil?

Tails Always Wins by C.A. King is the first in the Chasing Tails series. I was excited to see a new series from this author and I was not disappointed. Brodie has always hidden his second nature from society. What started as a simple ban on several breeds of dogs has grown to causing some to become extinct. The ban has even progressed to infringe on the rights and lives of shifters. Does Brodie join the fight or keep himself hidden?
This is a great story which draws parallels to events which are taking place in society. I really enjoyed the story and the struggle which Brodie goes through. Tails is a great character also and I want to get to know her better. I am glad to have found this new and interesting series and look forward to the next book to come.

This story definitely grabbed my attention from the start and kept hold the entire time. This book is a very good paranormal fantasy, with action, romance, adventure, and times made you look at the human race with wider eyes.I really liked the two lead characters Brodie and Tails, even though they had very different reasons for the way they did things they still had a common goal. There are characters in this book I completely disliked that have their own agenda and I found myself so engrossed that I'm hoping for their demise. This was very well written, easy to follow and entertaining. I don't want to give anything away but this is a must read and I can't wait to read what's next. I highly recommend this book

This is an interesting story. I enjoyed reading it and getting to know Brody and Tails. They met under precarious circumstances. Each thought they were doing the right thing. But evil is afoot and once they are aware of it will they change their path?
This story drew me in at the beginning and held on til the end. Some shocking things happen when the evil rises. I liked Brody for his no nonsense attitude. I think he was working himself into a pickle just because of the bogus laws being put Into place. Luckily Tails showed up to lead him astray.....or away.

I do want to make mention of the amazing cover! Very Cool looking!

This is a one click author for me and I am always excited when a new series begins...

TAILS ALWAYS WINS is the first book in the "Chasing Tails" series. If you took the paranormal element from the book, we could be reading about the racism and destruction of humans and animals alike in current day USA.

A fast paced read, this book has well developed characters and a clearly plotted story line. "No one wants to know what causes pure evil to linger in the air. It's too vile for even the worst of humanity." There are times I smiled and other times I just didnt like a character yet I stayed engaged.

I definitely recommend this story and look forward reading the next in the series .

Wow! I love it when I am grabbed from the start and cannot put the book down. I have read this author before and this one was just as good. I really found the story refreshing and unique.

I really go pulled right in by Tails and Brodie. I love shifter books and these characters really grabbed me. I felt as though the characters just jumped right off of the pages and I was in the story with them. I found that the balance was just right with drama and just a little romance. I really found myself anxious to find out what would happen next. I definitely will be reading more from this author.

This is the first book in a paranormal romance series about shifters who are fighting for equality. Shifters are shunned and stripped of their rights because the humans believe they are too dangerous. The chemistry between Brodie and Tails leaves the reader cheering for the 2 of them to the very end. I feel drawn to Tails not just by her unique abilities but also her courage in the face of danger. The author keeps us waiting in suspense for the second book by adding a bonus chapter at the end. Did I mention how beautiful the cover is?

What a delightful story! A wonderful quick read. An introduction to what, I am hoping will be a journey of many books. Our introduction to Tails and Brodie leaves you wanting more. Love without all the graphics makes this a perfect romance. A very fast paced book. Tails has it all together, and Brodie is just trying to figure it out. I am anxious to read more of this series because it appears to be the kind of narrative that will only get better and better. This book will quench your thirst for a few hours of delight.

One genre that I really enjoy is books that are about the supernatural, including shifters. I find them interesting. So, as I began this book, I was curious to find out how this book by C.A. King would explore this genre and would there be anything new and surprising that I had not seen before. I was pleasantly surprised, this author did manage to introduce something new into the mix. For me, it was too short. I wanted it to go further. I will be on the look out for the next installment of this universe because C.A. King left me wanting more.
