The owner of an antique shop is inveigled into investigating a rash of break-ins. Detecting a pattern, she goes to the next house in line, and finds a dead body. She investigates.

The solution is apparent from the start.

I'm really liking this new series! This was another great installment focusing on some burglaries in a nearby high-end community that Ralph and Henrietta were investigating. A guy she used to date was tossed into the mix, but I was really proud of how she didn't let him intimidate her anymore. She also admitted her own weaknesses and realized she needed to take a friend along when she'd go and catalog the antiques he hired her to sell. I really hope that Olivia and Scott will get together and that she waves bye-bye to Nelson who doesn't seem to care about what she thinks or wants to do.

I had an idea of who was involved in the burglaries, but it was really interesting to find out how the robbers were getting into the houses without picking the locks or using a stolen key. I like these characters a lot and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Book 2 in this series is fun, a fast read and what you would expect a cozy mystery to be! The characters are very likeable and well developed. I especially like the interaction between Ralph and Henrietta. Ralph and his son, Scott run an investigation agency and Ralph keeps trying to get Henrietta to join the firm since he really respects Henrietta's intuition when they had solved a murder in book 1. But Henrietta loves her antique shop and keeps turning him down even though she does go along to help him solve the break-ins in an exclusive neighborhood while stumbling on a murder. Olivia who is Henrietta's helper in the shop plays a larger role in book 2 and I enjoyed how human she was with her boyfriend problems and need for a motherly person (Henrietta) to help her decide what she wanted or needed to do. I also loved how Olivia went along to help Henrietta check out the antiques and to help find clues for the burglaries and murder. I can't wait to read the next adventure Ralph and Henrietta get themselves involved in! I received an ARC but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

This short novel (150 pages on Kindle) takes place in a small town in Washington state where Henrietta Hewitt, 40+, single, and proud of it, runs H.H. Hewitt Antiques with her much younger assistant, Oliva Braddock. There has been a series of robberies and break-ins in the upscale neighborhood, The Cliffs. Her friend, Ralph Gershwin, now a private detective, but formerly a detective in the local police, asks for her help solving these robberies, as he has been hired by the homeowners association to look into them. Henrietta, who Ralph insists on calling Henri, helped him in an earlier case.
The case gradually becomes more complicated and Henrietta has trouble balancing her antiques work and the Cliffs case. Another complication is Oliva's boyfriend, Nelson, and his on-line game playing. As Olivia considers breaking up with Nelson, Henrietta is visited by a former boyfriend, who irritates her, Ralph, and Olivia.
While I enjoyed this book, the second in the Hearts Grove mystery series, the author did not give, in my opinion, enough background information and characters were introduced so quickly that I had trouble sorting them out. (Of course, I am also distracted by authors who spend too much time filling in the background from earlier novels.)

A great plot, well thought out.

Awesome read. What a wonderfully devious plot. Okay it was fairly obvious who was involved but the plot was so consuming that you just had to keep reading. Loved the way the characters have blossomed from the first book and how their lives are interwoven into the story.
When an elite part of town starts having break-ins Ralph asks her to sort of join him and his son's detective agency. From the start she sees a pattern and when she follows a hunch she finds the dead body of a young woman. Throw in an ex-boyfriend, break-ins before the theft break-ins, a strange character around town and a simple sting. Will they catch the thief and the killer? Meanwhile her young assistant and she are both facing romantic dilemmas. What will they do about them?

Oh, dear!

This second book in the series has fewer grammatical and other errors than the first one had; but there are still far too many! This author should get someone to edit her work! Why do Americans say "off of"? The "of" is not needed. A mantle is a cloak. She means "mantel" as in "mantelpiece". Gems laying around? They are LYING around. She also needs to check her vocabulary so that words are used correctly. "He admitted it shamefully"......should be ashamedly. These are just a few of many errors. The story line was predictable. The characters are OK but not well drawn. I read the second book in case the first was the only poor one but shall read no more of them!

Crazy book!!!!

10++++ stars!!!!
Boy, did Henrietta and Ralph have a mess to figure out.
Henrietta had a blast from the past throw her for a loop in this case Ralph talked into investigating with him.
It was a bunch of breaking and entering, robbing, murder, and computer hacking.
A very well to do neighborhood was the target, then the robbers got sloppy and that's when Ralph talked Henrietta into helping.
There was so much going on, the police couldn't find any clues right away.
Henrietta found the first few clues that started the ball rolling. There is so much to this book you have to read it.
You will love it.

This is the 2nd book in the easy to read cozy mystery series set in Hearts Grove at Henriettas Antique Shop.

A series of burglaries has Ralph and Henrietta working together to find the person behind the break ins. All the burglaries are from high value houses with sophisticated security systems. When someone is found the murdered, the stakes get higher!

These books are easily read in a couple of hours, and are each a standalone mystery. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

I can see this is a series I'm going to binge read, having already downloaded the 3rd book to my kindle!

Technology rules

An enjoyable read, nice, ordinary but believable characters, A little romance but nothing to distract from the main story.
Good plot, not so technical that the reader can't see through it, as a matter of fact, the murder really was not necessary for the development of the story. It ended up being something of an after thought. It took me a few minutes to remember who it was when the name was mentioned towards the end.
If you are looking for something to engage your thought processes, this is not it but if you are looking for something to take you through a few hours then go ahead and read.

A really fun series. Henrietta and Ralph are the perfect sleuthing team. Ralph has experience as a retired police man and Henri loves to solve a good puzzle. She describes herself as a woman of action, and she is seldom still. The background feeling of the town is quite charming and Henri’s antique store sounds wonderful. The plot was very intriguing, hacking into security systems and planning robberies. Hope to read more in this series soon.

Light, enjoyable cozy mystery

This is the second in a new series involving an antique store owner and a former policeman/PI. The small town of Hearts Grove has been plagued with break-ins and recently a woman died during one of the robberies. Harriet and her friend Ralph the PI, work on the mysteries together, finally helping the police to solve them. The small-town atmosphere adds to the charm of the mysteries. A nice addition to the cozy bookshelf.

Break-ins and Bloodshed

This is a very good cozy mystery. It is about an antiques dealer and her best friend who happens to be a retired private detective who follow clues to try to solve a series of break-ins and theft. Who are the culprits....the stranger or someone from the neigh borhood??? This book has a lot of action and a murder and will keep you guessing up to the end. I recommend this book to everyone. I gave it 5 stars.

This is the second book in the series. The main character is Henriette. She decides to help her friend the P I solve some break-in happening around town. This leads her to meeting a guy she once dated but that didn't make her happy. The old guy was too controlling. But she finds cameras hidden in each house and the more she looks into it the more she figures out. Can she get all the information before it's too late ?

Break-Ins & Bloodshed

A nice cozy mystery with an interesting plot involving computer crime coupled with burglary. It makes you question the advisability of having too much security in areas that could be used against you. It stars a woman who owns an antique shop whose hobby is sleuthing. Of course it helps that she has a close friend who is a private investigator, allowing her to become involved in his cases. An enjoyable read.

After a series of break-ins occur in Hearts Grove, Ralph finally gets Henrietta on board to do some official PI work. When Henri agreed, she hadn't realized it would bring her face to face with an old flame - or a dead body.

Really enjoyed this one. Henrietta is coming to love her nickname. Olivia might finally drop Mr. Wrong. Ralph and Henri will likely stay friends for a few more books, if not forever. Henrietta is the woman you never nail down type.

Break-ins and Bloodshed

Antique dealer, Henrietta and her friend , Private Investigator, Ralph team up to stop a person or persons that are breaking into homes and stealing valuable items. The big mystery is that these homes are covered by state of art security systems that aren't broken and are in perfect working condition. Henrietta is very good at putting pieces together to flush out the whole story.

Crime?

9/24. Henreitta Hewitt gets involved with an old frame over his recent acquisition of antiques shortly after her discovery of a dead body in a darkened house. Could the murder be connected to a series of break-ins in the area? What are retired ploice detective-turned-PI Ralph's ideas? And does the old flame have anything to do with anything? Quick read - fun but not too much of a mystery, actually.

Cute story like the first book. Lowkey it has the same problems though- expected plot and obvious foreshadowing. And I might just be nitpicky because I studied criminology for 3 years and law for over 1 year, but there is No Way the police are so incompetent that a retired cop, his engineer son, & a random historian shop owner are solving these crimes with little/no help from the police. It really is a cute little mystery novel as long as I ignore how the real world works I guess.

I'm glad I gave the Hearts Grove series another try after the disappointing first part. Now, this is not the most mindboggling mystery around, but it is a good one-time read.
There is a lot more build-up leading to the reveals, the plot is intricate, and the characters are likeable. It was quite predictable to be honest but somehow I didn't mind that. I really love the atmosphere, the characters, and the overall cozy tone of the story. A 3.5 from me.

Very good

This mystery was interesting. They way the robberies started out as just doors being left open to the return visit where things were actually taken. I thought that Preston was involved but I was surprised that Nelson wasn't . Maybe I just don't like him. Henrietta and Ralph hopefully will get involved. Vacant wait for follow up book. Thank you.

Good cozy mystery

I really like mysteries. This was an easy read. Had very believable characters and read well. I had pretty much figured out the mystery before the end, but that was ok. There were some twists and turns. I like the main characters, Henrietta and Ralph. Would recommend to all.

I love these cosy mystery stories. This one is about local burglaries in a gated community and a dead body. Henrietta the local antique shop owner and her friend Ralph an ex detective, band together to try and solve the case. The characters are lovely and have a bit of banter together. It's a lovely written and easy to read book.

Cute little read

Another cute quick read with a nice little mystery to go along with it. I'm liking the main characters more and more. And I'm beginning to ship a couple of the potential couples in the story as well. No romance yet, but I can definitely see it happening at some point.

A good story

This was another good cozy mystery. I like how we see progress with the character's development and that, even if they struggle to make a change, they do try to figure out what they want to change in their lives.

The mystery was fun, and it was fun to learn more about Henrietta's past. Looking forward to the next book

Break-ins and Bloodshed: small town Heart’s Grove is suffering from an outbreak of bizarre robberies. Antique store owner Henrietta once again teams up with her friend, PI Ralph, to investigate. While on the case, Henrietta finds a dead body. Can she and Ralph stop the thieves before anyone else gets hurt?

This is the second book in the Heart’s Grove series, and I like it just as much as the first. It was extremely cozy and a lot of fun. Perfect for curling up with on a chilly evening. I really love that these books aren’t that long. They are short, the mystery is well plotted, AND there is time for character development. And there are maybe two little burgeoning romances! I am a romantic, so I’m really interested to see what, if anything, happens with Henrietta and Ralph. It certainly seems possible!

Quick cozy fun!

On the shorter side from what I normally read, this little cozy mystery is just the ticket for a day at the beach or pool. I loved that the characters were smart, funny, and a tad older so the romance elements are sweet and on a slow burn. A cute setting rounds out the fun. I look forward to reading more of this charming series.

Hacking Break Ins

This was an interesting mystery and fun to follow along with the clues to the finish. I like watching the relationship between Henrietta and Ralph. Olivia is changing her mind about her relationship and maybe forging toward someone else. We will see how it goes in the next book in the series.
