Cannon’s all about control. Until now -- until her.
Fresh out of Delta Force, Rick “Cannon” Sloan is doing his best to carve out a new life for himself -- find his next mission. And just his luck -- there’re plenty of bad guys roaming the streets of Seattle to strike up a new business. He didn’t count on running into trouble on his first case -- one with deep green eyes, auburn hair, and a killer smile.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Jericho Nash is definitely more dangerous than the men he’s hunting. One chance meeting, and Cannon has a bad feeling he’s already in too deep. But just when he’s ready to make his move -- finally charm the lady into his bed -- Jericho’s neck-deep in danger. She might be the law, but her enemies aren’t playing by the rules. Which means, Cannon’s taking the war to them.
With the help of some former teammates, he’ll defy the odds because once he’s committed -- he’s all in. He’s determined to have a future with Jericho, and he’ll use whatever tactics are necessary to make it happen. Even if it means giving up his control.
Whenever I want to read a story about an alpha male and a strong female who believe in good over evil then I look to one of my favorite authors, Kris Norris. She is able to mix suspense, romance, danger, love and honor among teammates in a story that begs to be read. I am eager to know what is going to happen, but at the same time I don’t want to miss one word. Deputy U.S. Marshal Jericho Nash is waiting in a bar for her partner to arrive to assist in the arrest of a wanted criminal. Just as things start to get out of control, former Delta Force, Rick “Cannon” Sloan appears at the bar. After retiring from the military, Cannon is now working as a bounty hunter and is after the same man. When he realizes that Jericho is a U. S. Marshal, he acts as her backup. Where is her partner? When danger threatens her again, Cannon is by her side. Why is someone targeting her? I love the way the author brings us back in touch with some of the characters from her previous great books…Ice, Riggs, Midnight, Bridgette, Addison, Six and new teammate Colt. I really enjoy books when the previous characters step in to lend a hand when danger is involved. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Huh, so I’m a little befuddled about how to review this book. I liked the story line well enough to read the book based on the blurb. The characters were both well written, likable and didn’t have TSTL moments. The supporting characters were also well done. I think the bad guy was pretty thinly disguised and I saw the climax coming from a mile away, but I was even ok with that too.
I just had little issues that built up that didn’t let me love this book. Things like Jericho’s name - I had a hard time with a female character having that name. It’s a totally kick butt name - just not for a heroine in my head. 🤷🏻♀️ The same words being used to describe both Cannon and Jericho over and over and over throughout the book. I also went all grammar police and called foul on the excessive use of the dash in the first 3 chapters. (Thankfully it calmed down after that.) I was also looking for a little more steam in the romance department.
All in all, It was a solid read. Most people can probably gloss right over the issues I had, but they were enough for me to quit the series after one book.
What does a special ops guy do when he leaves the service? That is a most fascinating question that is addressed in this book. I briefly met Cannon in Going In Blind, one of this author's contribution to the Brotherhood Protectors World. In that story the heroine, Addison thought "he smelled like death." That made Cannon reconsider his life choices. I was thrilled when he got his own book.
I loved the way it opened. I have read several of the former-warrior-going-into-private-protection trope and I found this example inspiring. He had an idea and came up with a way to make it work. Meeting the "perfect woman" was just a happy side effect. This first meet was . . . Kapow.
The way these two complimented each other was awesome. The stuff of fairy tales. Warriors can find happy-ever-after in the real world. Well, kind of the real world. Really, is law enforcement less dangerous than a war zone?
Wonderful read. Lovely mix of heart stopping action and HOT romance. I look forward to Colt's book.
Special Ops. Delta Force retired, doesn't mean his training or team disappeared - fast action, plot twist, addicted to the last page!
Cannon was top of his game but losing grip on his humanity. He retired and now in civilian world starting his own security business. Jericho a U.S. Marshall tracking down the worse of the scum. Her partner ditched her during a backup request but Cannon had her back. This forms a unlikely partnership. The pace and questions & suspense ramp up. A great story and I didn't want to put it down....I just had to know the answers. V2, S2 (check my blog for root rating 1-2-3). Oh, I knew I wanted to read about Rick Sloan (Cannon)'s tale the moment Ms. Norris mentioned him in Going In Blind. And I wasn't disappointed. Oh my glory, she wrote lines that not only made me laugh out loud but gave me delicious shivers. One of my favorites is: "They think they're killers, sweetheart. But they're about to meet the real thing." Oh yeah, Cannon lights my fire and keeps it burning. And Marshal Jericho Nash can hold her own with Cannon, and manages to keep him on the side of the law, which is pretty impressive. This is a great story and I'm so looking forward to Colt's tale and Six's as well.
This is my first book by the Author & it won't be my last. She has spinned a tale of suspense & action with an alpha that acknowledges it & embraces it. She made Cannon into an alpha that holds true to his character but still respects his woman. She has made Jericho into a female character that you admire & not one that refuses help. I love their connection, the slow build up, the way they fit & adapt to each other. Love the banter & brotherhood that has me wanting to read the rest of the series for sure!
Cannon was waiting in the bar to pick up a man who had run. Getting the skip was worth a lot and would be the money for him to open an office of his own. While waiting he watched the woman at the bar. When she takes down his skip he's there to take care of the two bodyguards. When she goes to the restroom, she takes off the wig and makeup. Cannon takes a good look at her and he'd fallen in love. Jerico let's him take the skip so he can have his dream.
I met cannon and some of his team. In a different series (ravens cliff) think it was at the beginning of this book when he was a away for a few days he was there and still single but said about a girl he likes. So think both series are running at the same time in same universe. Lots of linked series with different authors so you may recognise names. ( and think have I read this?) This book is cannon just getting set up. But also helping the marshals. Cole next
What unbelievable characters were created for this crossover series. Cannon is intense, skillful and one very scary individual. His story starts off with him hunting for a criminal with a huge bounty on his head with Cannon as the Bounty Hunter. Canon meets Jericho, U S Marshall and their lives will never be the same.
Really liked this book and all the characters but sometimes the narrative just rambled on and on until I’d just start skimming past it. Even in the steamy scenes, it would start with a kiss then narration of whatever the person was thinking about for a few pages and then back to the actual scene.
This was the first time I’d read a book by this author. I would give the next book in the series a read. I was mostly entertained with the storyline. And I could totally enjoy having a Cannon in my life. 😍
Kris Norris really hit it out of the park on this one!!! The characters really take a place in your heart!!! Action, romance and suspense keeps you itching to turn the page!!! I can't wait to read the ext installment in the Wayward Soul's series!!!
I love this book and this series. This book has awesome alpha characters and a tough female marshall. The story is full of suspense and action and is a very entertaining book!! I can't wait to read the next book.
This was a great story. Both Cannon and Jericho were strong characters. I enjoyed the way their relationship developed. The plot kept me interested throughout the story. The supporting characters were superb. Good to see some characters from previous stories.
I love the plot lines Kris Norris writes. You care and are invested in the characters. This one held off on the explicit steam for a bit. I fast forward through those. Another great read.
I absolutely loved this book! Amazing action, thrilling mystery, super sexy MC’s, and hot romance! I also love that the FMC was as much of a badass as the MMC! Cannon and Jericho were so fun!
