Inconceivable Origin

Third-generation working girl Sydney Flores is done with walking the streets—because she's traded up for a brothel. Except Ichor isn't just any brothel, it's also a blood bank where lonely vampires come for a little entertainment with their refreshment. She's seen and done it all, so a little fang on the job doesn't scare her away, especially when it comes with security cameras, bouncers, and a 401K.

So it's just another night on the job when Sydney meets three men—a shifter, a vampire, and a warlock—who promise her the one thing her mama taught her never to accept from a john: love. Sydney has spent a lifetime searching for a safe place to rest her weary head, but is this whore ready to put her all-too human heart on the line too?

Sydney Flores has been working at Ichor for the past few months. She actually likes working here because the money is much better and it’s a lot safer for her. Being a vampire’s “meal” is optional but not something she wants to do. Dressed in her work outfit, she waves to Amaya and starts down the hall. Normally she would sit in a parlor with the others, waiting for a customer. But tonight, Miss Cheryl takes her upstairs and to a room for her “appointment”.

Her client knocks and enters the room, and it’s obvious he is a beginner, almost confused. Every question she asks, he repeats part of it like a statement. He is almost totally non-responsive but, she is good at her job and is successful. Jerome Durand wakes, not knowing where he is or what happened. A gorgeous naked woman walks out of the bathroom, and he turns away apologizing for walking in on her! He actually thinks his buddies are pulling a joke on him when she tells him what went on here. He still won’t believe it and hurries out.

As she comes downstairs, Sydney hears the others gasp in excitement as a client comes in. Sydney pays no attention, especially, because from the comments, she knows he is a vampire here for a meal. Her gaze is on her fingernails, but she catches his scent as she feels his breath caress her cheek. She tells him he cannot drink from her, but he wants her anyway. Sydney’s open and easy attitude draws people to her. But this was a night of “firsts” for her. She enjoyed his touches, she enjoyed being with him and how it felt real, and she actually fell asleep afterward, which she hadn’t done with a client since she was 14! And more surprising, she didn’t respond to the red light telling her clients were waiting. She didn’t want to be with them right now, although she knew Miss Cheryl wouldn’t let that continue for much longer. Sure enough, Miss Cheryl walked in with a huge tip for her from Niall. And not only did he not drink from her, but he didn’t drink from any of the others either, which was odd.

As Sydney steps out of work, a drunk grabs her, knocks her to the ground and punches her, breaking her nose. A woman scares him off – along with the pepper spray Sydney finally reaches and sprays in his eyes. She takes her to the hospital where a gorgeous man, Dr. Kaden Decker, comes to her room to tell her he needs to reset her nose and she will need 10 stiches on her cheek. That was most devastating of all since her value at work will be reduced by half with a scar on her face. But the doctor whispered that, though illegal, a vampire’s blood would heal and prevent a scar and this was not her fault. She had promised her deceased mother to never allow that, but would she change her mind with her livelihood now compromised?

This was a really good book with a great story line and likable characters. Seeing Amaya again from another series was also a nice touch. There is much more in Sydney’s story, especially the guys she meets that want more than just her services on the job. So much happens in this book! Grab your copy and see what choices she has to make! You’ll love every page!

Quick read. Maybe it's better if I'd read her other series, which seemed to be set in the same world. I dunno.

It felt rushed to me. Not enough character development/relationship building so when Sydney's men profess their love, instead of being an awww moment, it was awkward feeling.

Plus, I couldn't get passed the fact that even though this is a supernatural community, nobody thinks that there might have been underhandedness involved in why one of the men acted strange.

And one of the men was a bit of a coward. He even recognized it but didn't man up and try to do the right thing. Instead, he decides to whine and then have more sex. This made me dislike the character.

It was definitely a steamy read though. Felt like 75% sex. So, if you're looking for a short steamy read, this could be it~

This is a reverse harem romance.
Wow, what a story with a twist. I love Sydny and her will to be who she wanted to be without knowing what she really wants. She has rules that no one ever breaks. But, one night, three men all break the rules...
Quick read . Loved it. Highly recommended.

First of all lemme say that I am a reverse harem fanatic... and I love the originality of this story. Sydney had heart and I love the way she found love that she needed and deserved.
