T.L. Branson is the author of the Soul Stones series. Branson started writing when he was eighteen and has contributed articles to several blogs and websites over the years. Soul Render is his debut novel in a planned trilogy. He finds his inspiration from the kings (and queen) of story, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, George Lucas, and J.K. Rowling. Born in Pennsylvania, he currently lives in California with his wife and two children.
This book 7 takes off right where book 6 had left off and our heroes find themselves in Drygo's palace and this time round it is Riley who is doing all the action, even though she was supposed to be still recuperating from the ordeal she endured when the ship exploded and she got thrown into the deep sea. This was the chance Riley had been waiting for, for so long, to take revenge on her worst enemy however as things turn out she has to act her usual honourable self and do the right thing! Princess Maya was in trouble, and she was just a child so Riley could not stand idly by and let her suffer even though she was Drygo's daughter. I just love these short action packed stories where our heroes still retain their honour unlike the thugs they usually end up killing.
I loved writing this one so much. We're 7 stories into the Sellswords timeline and we're in full gear now. I'm excited for the plans I have for the rest of the series and can't wait to see how it all turns out.
When I'm writing, I get to experience the journey just like you do. The characters surprise me in what they do or say. They are alive and they speak to me in only ways that they can.
Going to get this in first ... If you haven't started this series yet you need to because you are missing out on one hell of a ride , this picks up from the cliffhanger of an ending in the previous book and man it does not disappoint Riley is bad ass and as in real life you have to make choices that you have to live with and TLs characters are no different but to know more your gonna have to read it so stop reading this and go get this series you will not regret it 👍👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Retribution is a really wonderful short story and addition to the Sellswords short story series. We begin with Riley waking up in a bed of who's she is unsure about. She is bruised and confused and beaten and just wants to find the answers. In this first section, Ocken's whereabouts are unknown and this is a great time for us to get to know Riley a little bit. We see her sheer determination for doing what is right and her uncanny ability to quickly diagnose and solve problems in a difficult situation. I really enjoyed this first section with only Riley as in previous story's her and Ocken are both together throughout most of them.
In the second section, we get to see Riley really shine. Her fighting and assassin skills are on full display and she is just such an amazing character! By the end, she has saved the day with the help of Ocken and for now, peace seems to be coming to her. Of course, she can't get away without getting herself into some sort of mischievousness but by the end of it all it seems like she might get away with this mishap.
I really enjoyed yet another tale of Ocken and Riley. I hope the author continues to do these as they are quick and enjoyable reads that have been able to act as a transition for me when I'm transitioning between other books. They are amazing written and action packed! I would completely recommend reading them all!
High Treason left us on such an exciting note, I couldn’t wait to dive into Retribution to find out what happened to Riley. Retribution is a Riley-focused short and picks up from just before High Treason’s ending, immediately resolving the mystery of Khal’s injury and our MC’s absence from the room.
With his usual flare, Branson takes us on another action-packed mini adventure and although this brings to a close the current story arc this is a fangirl-squeal ending if ever there was one.
Highly highly recommend this second story arc of Sellswords (Shorts 4-7
Retribution is full of action and cunning battles! Definitely not the way I was expecting the story to twist but much better, and cannot go into detail on that because I refuse to ever do spoilers in reviews! This installment had me sitting on edge the whole time. (literally took 0 breaks from reading) The duo definitely do some damage in this and the ending has me wanting more more more! Highly recommend this series if you love sword fights and fantasy.
Riley seeks retribution on the man that killed her mother and destroyed her home. Instead she ends up trying to save the life of a twelve year old girl from being kidnapped on a ship going out to sea. Nonstop action as Riley kills one man at a time on her way to get the girl. They escaped on a dingy but found just as much action taking place back at the girls room in the palace. And of course we have the surprise ending with lots more action to look forward to in the next book of this series.
This is a great addition to the series. Riley has a choice to make. This is a very fast paced read. That has you on the edge of your seat Wondering what is going to happen next. The Author really brings the scenes to life so vividly that you can see it in your head. A real page turner. A definite must read series. Shauna Joesten
A quick thrilling read! Surprises at every turn, and so much death. Riley has the opportunity to kill Drygo but his daughter is there. Looking forward to next parts.
