"Just once, I'd like to be part of my own couple, and not the third wheel."
Jay Howard might look like Tinker Bell, but he's looking for a man who will accept all facets of him - from flirty brat to dom top. With all his friends happily coupling up, Jay fears he'll never find a man to love, much less one who loves all of him.
"Once again, fate has decided to have a laugh at my expense, because standing right in front of us is the only man I've never been able to get out of my head."
Silas Boone III has been punishing himself for years for his younger self's screw-ups. Just as he finds someone with the power to make him trust himself again, he's confronted by a face from the past - one that reminds him of his mistakes and all the possibilities he once dreamed could be his.
"I'd found the love of my life. Most people don't even get that much, so it felt selfish to look for more."
After his boyfriend of nine years dies suddenly of a heart attack, Cameron MacGowan moves to Fort Collins for a fresh start. What starts as simple flirtation and easing back into dating turns into a tangle of longing and wanting for two totally different men.
Can Jay, Boone, and Cameron navigate through the treacherous waters of the past to reach a future together?
One hot encounter with bossy Jay will always stay with Boone. But Jay hates his him because at that time he cheated, he already had a boyfriend. Cameron lost his partner and now finally wants to try to return to the dating scene. He always had special feelings for Jay but he is so far out of his league. So meeting a kind soul at a movie theater seems so right and Boone can’t believe his eyes, this beautiful man wants to date him! Cameron and Boone have a date and ordering a coffee at the bar where Jay works. Jay always the flirting twink sees them and is cold to both. Cameron knows there is more to this story and when he finds out he wants to bring the three of them together.
Such a hot steamy story, three men, and all three had their own significant place in this triad. Their journey was well, convincing and acceptable put down. It’s always tricky a threesome. But Jay as bossy top is the sweetest guy ever. Baking cookies and cupcakes making his home a warm cozy home. More than once my eyes blurred because of him. Boone with an awful bully and demanding homophobic father is so in need of giving over his stress and let someone take care of him. And Cameron, the lawyer with his big cold apartment can’t get enough of the warmth coming from both his men.
But here we have a wonderful threesome with great and precise the right dynamic. Steamy and sexy scenes we can witness. Great development of characters and a good plot. The secondary characters, like friends and family had their own right place A hooray for this triad. So well put together. All three men at the right place in this relationship !!
The lustful story about Jay, Silas “Boone” & Cameron’s threesome. This romance is light on plot and heavy on sex. Also the author didn’t make the case of a “Love” connect between the men, more or less just a lot of lust. I thought that Boone was the glue of group. Overall, a sexy read for some that like pages & pages & pages of sex scenes.
I love JD Chambers writing but am still catching up of her works but this MMM is exceptional. Each character is diverse, unique and complex in their own way. I haven’t read all the books in this series but really want to based on the awesome side characters. I love a toppy twink and there seem to be very few quality versions out there but Jay is exceptional and my absolute favorite!! He is all I want in a dom/top characters plus he has such heart, empathy, and love to give, you just want to give him a hug.
The dynamics and coming together of these three is semi-slow, angst-filled but is great when they all decide to date and move forward. This is a relationship formed between three men, not a couple that adds on a third. I like this approach and felt like each character was so perfectly matched and equal in the relationship that they just melded seamlessly.
JD Chambers injects humor and heart into her writing and this is a great MMM romance that will fill your heart. I loved it! Now I just need to catch up on all the other characters!!
Some series create exceptional fictional universes, and Only Colorado is one of those for me. I absolutely love the way the interwoven characters form a supportive and fun community of friends where in happy to get lost. Additionally, this series offers such a range of characters with a variety of backgrounds, romantic pairings, and kinks. And though the stories and characters overlap to a degree, these books can be read as standalones should you prefer to skip pairings/tropes that aren't your thing. Only for Us marks the sixth book in the Only Colorado series and introduced a throuple to this band of close friends.
I really liked the individual characters in Only for Us and especially liked that each man had such a different range of experiences and journey as they chased their happily ever after. Unfortunately, I found myself less interested in the triad's romantic interactions, especially physically, than in their moves to remedy personal conflicts and create an environment that nurtured their bond. I guess I wanted to feel that pull between the men a bit more so I was as invested in the relationship as I was in Boone, Jay, and Cameron on their own. Overall, this is one that's worth the read but not my fave in the Only Colorado series.

Toppy Jay is the character I NEEDED. He was sassy and just unapologetically himself and I loved that about him. I appreciated getting the prologue and getting a bit of background into Boone and Jay. And then we add Cam to the mix and these guys just work together!
They each brought something different to the relationship and the author did a great job of meshing them all together. And the sexy times were HOT HOT HOT. I do not want to spoil anything but the dynamic between the three of them is refreshing and beautiful at times. It was sweet to see of them connect emotionally and it was super hot to see them come together in the bedroom.
There was a good amount of character development amongst all of the MCs and Jay, Boone and Cam are easy characters to connect to. This story, just like the previous books is well written and I want more!!
More like 2.5 stars but I’ve decided to round up because I do love the author’s previous work.
The first 50% was a 5 star read for sure. But past that was a mix of too much sex that bored me and several attempts to introduce angst that is quickly solved a little too perfectly. If I wanted that kind of story, I’d go watch a hallmark Christmas movie. I found myself skimming a lot in the last half of the book and straight up skipping the sex scenes.
Will certainly continue to check out future releases from this author as I’ve adored every story up until now.
I liked the beginning, the build-up. However, the way Jay was included felt like an afterthought and like he was being the third-wheel he so desperately didn't want to be.
Then, the three get together, constant sexy times, miscommunication, more sexy times. Not a whole lot of depth, unfortunately.
So, I have to say that reading the other stories in this series would be really helpful because this one felt a little like we were being dropped into the middle of a story.
Jay, Boone and Cameron are all very different men. Jay and Cameron have been flirting around for a while but when Cameron and Boone meet, there is instant chemistry. I found it very ironic that Cameron, a man who never thought he’d love again is the catalyst for this relationship between the three men.
I’m not a big fan of the first person narrative and in this book we head hop between all three men in the story. It does lead to a little confusion, especially if you happen to miss the tag at the beginning of the segment that tells you whose head you are currently in.
However, the story is well written and the characters are easily to relate too. All three of them have been looking for something, and I like that once the story commits to the menage, it doesn’t falter in its determination.
Jay’s small size belies his big, dominant personality. Cameron’s steady presence is the rock that the other two men come to lean on. Boone is the surprise, the one who’s looking for someone to take control and help him steer his life on to the right course.
The three of them are perfect pieces to the puzzle that’s been their lives and watching them navigate the pitfalls of figuring out how to make their lives work with the three of them makes for an interesting read.
I do think the author glosses over the reality of the challenges that they would face living as a committed threesome but it is a romance after all and I do love my happily-ever-afters a little more than is reasonable.
Well written and I loved seeing the characters from the other books show up, like visits from old friends. I truly enjoyed this story and if you’ve never considered a menage story before, I hope you will give this one a try.

JD Chambers' Only For Us is another stellar book in the Only Us series. It's tender, sweet, and smoking hot! Only For Us has some friends to lovers, and a second chance. Did I mention Holy hotness!
In this one, we are treated to three men, yes, three men, falling in love with each other. It's a fun development, as all three are connected, but don't know it immediately.
I'm tempted to say "A car salesman, a lawyer, and a barista enter a bedroom..."
I love that Boone likes to be dominated and punished, despite being a big, tough, former athlete. Cameron is what people would assume is a dom top, but low and behold, he's not. And the smaller Jay is the one who likes to dominate. Woo Hoo! The three men perfectly balance each other, leading for some emotional and hot moments.
Each man is so damn considerate of the others, making for some wonderfully tender moments. Each enters the relationship with baggage. Cameron lost his ex last year, is sad and sullen. Boone's stuck living the life his parents want for him, and is unhappy and closeted.
Did I mention it's steamy, spicy and hot?
JD Chambers does a wonderful job exploring the struggles of moving on, taking chances, and living your truth. If you enjoy a good menage story, do not miss Only For Us! It's a fantastic and riveting tale of taking two lovers instead of making anyone choose.
Jay, Boone, and Cameron were an absolute delight to read about and watch develop into a strong, loving family. Boone and Jay met many years ago during an unexpected hookup. The experience left both of them remembering and craving more, but circumstances threw a wrench in everything. Now, many moons later, Jay is crushing on Cameron, who is finally starting to move on from his partner who passed away. Cameron is attracted to Jay, but before he acts on it, he meets Boone. Boone is a total sweetheart, and Cameron is very much interested. He struggles a slight bit because he likes both guys, but when he invites Boone out to coffee and sees Boone and Jay's reaction to each other, he gets this idea in his head that the three of them should be together.
I absolutely loved how the three of them started their relationship together. Even though there were some moments between the different couples prior, they didn't start out as one couple adding a third. They really did start the whole thing together as a group. Communication was key, and I loved how that was emphasized with them. They were so sweet together, but also so very, very hot. I loved this a lot, and this is my favorite of the entire series.

Only For Us is the sixth book in J.D. Chambers engaging Only Colorado series and I think it is my favorite one so far. This book has everything I love about this series — fun humor and banter, super sexy interactions, great characters, and a touch of kink. The story mostly focuses on these men finding their way to one another through their somewhat complicated pasts and figuring out how to make things work among the three of them. There isn’t a lot of drama or conflict, just three really great guys who are figuring out how to be together. Despite this, the story never lagged for me at all. These guys were just really engaging and I loved watching them find their way to each other.
I think what carries this story are the three characters and Chambers does a great job making them layered and interesting. We have met all three men in prior books, though they have mostly appeared in small ways.
This is lovely poly romance between Boone, Cam, and Jay where we get yummy dating and an HEA.
There is some light BDSM in here as well but despite this being an erotic romance this book is really about the emotionial journey of each hero and their relationship.
Each hero has their own set up issues and you will root for them.
Jay is my favorite because he is so talented and really kind even as he is prickly. I wish we had spent more time with his family.
Very good read especially if you are a fan of this series which I am.
I really enjoyed this story. It was funny at times with plenty of feels. The story had great pacing and was well written. I became fully invested in the story of Boone, Jay and Cameron and excited to see how their relationship evolves. These men each complemented each other to make them fit together perfectly. A sweet sexy menage story I'd happily recommend.
Three souls that are lost. I liked all three men despite the inauspicious beginnings with each combination of the three, but I think it's Jay that stole my heart most solidly. Despite how difficult it still is for me to wrap my head and heart around menage relationships, this particular grouping really felt right. Each one had something to offer the partnership and their roles played a big part in keeping them together at various turns in their relationship journey.
The Only Colorado series is a tangled web of relationship connections from the past that all work out to some amazing partnerships. Only for Us brings us full-circle and concludes the series on a high point with all the love, kink, and sexiness that we've come to expect from the series. What makes this book special is the complicated dynamic and the sweet love and forgiveness that keeps these men together.
Cameron's grief isn't really discussed as it's not really the main focus of his part in the story. His part is more about moving on from grief to new love and self-discovery. When Jay gives him some truly insightful advice into learning just who Cameron is on his own, it brings him Boone. Using the opportunity to introduce Boone was a great vehicle, but it didn't really flesh out Cameron's situation in a satisfying way. It made the jump into the more complicated relationship feel a bit shallow, not that it was superficial, just that it lacked the depth on his part that would have made his role really sing.
Boone I felt for. His struggle was a difficult one and the prologue perfectly captured just how tortured and conflicted he felt. It made him more pitiable than reviled from what we learned about him in Only Keep You. His role felt pretty juvenile for the most part, but it worked as a way to bring out the protective instincts in Cameron and Jay. I think Cameron and Jay could have been totally fine on their own, but Boone's specific needs catered to their very different desires in how they show passion and love. It really worked as a whole with the way his unique qualities were integrated.
But it was Jay that truly captured my attention and my heart. He was complex in the differences between his presentation and his heart's true desires. I found myself frustrated with Cameron on many occasions because of how blind he was to what Jay needed. Jay felt like the real adult in the relationship even if he needed Boone's perspective to help him find the best solution to one of their issues. In the face of Cameron's "put-together" life, it was Jay's maturity and well-rounded character that stood out most. I also ached for him when we saw his vulnerabilities. There wasn't a moment that I was disappointed in him, no time I felt that he could have been or done more. Thankfully the other two men could give him what he needed and craved.
This story felt quicker than the others of the series in terms of relationship genesis to the ending, partly because we've got three perspectives to cover and all their complexities in roughly the same amount of pages as the other couples in the series. There were quite a few foundation-building moments that felt skimmed over making it feel as if Jay really was going to be left out despite being the perfect fit for their group. It was his greatest hurt and yet never truly addressed even if things ended on an incredibly sweet and sexy note. Their journey was rather simple without a lot of angst and the exploration of their kink wasn't as in-depth as the other books in the series. Focusing instead on the way these three men fit together with some spiciness in the bedroom (or anywhere else they can get up to their steamy shenanigans), the story was sweeter and a great wrap-up to the series.
This is a new to me author but oh my god, what have I been missing! It was so good and just effortlessly flowed from the page. I love menages at the best of times so was eager to read this, even though it's book 6 in the series I managed to grasp the story as it was largely a stand alone plot but for a few mentions of their group of friends as previously featured in the other books. This told it from the 3 characters perspectives and changed periodically so we got what everyone was thinking. Each had there own personality, that I loved these individual characters. Jay may look like a twink but he's a take no prisoners dom. Hes feisty yet has a heart of gold and an inner granny crafts soul what with the various crafts hes done. Cameron is an older man who is a take charge in his business life but doesn't mind exceeding control. He wants to be loved and have them love him as much with his caring nature. Booner has the body of a American footballer but he's submissive and has a humiliation kink. Hes always been secretive due to his abusive father so is waiting for the right men to finally fledged his wings. They all come together but each has a past with issues. We get a little snippet from a past interaction that 2 of these characters share a brief history. I loved that they worked so well and brought a broad spectrum of delights, I also liked that the author didnt change jay to compromise his strictly top tendencies but integrated it seemlessly. There's a bit of angst, humour and just plain old good story telling. People who love a bit of may, december, kink and threesomes will love this story as well as a coming out story it had it all.
Chambers did an excellent job of seeding the previous books in this series with references to and interactions with the three heroes of this book, making it significantly easier to jump into their romance arc. I do think it also works as a stand-alone, but this whole series is great, so go back to the beginning first! Jay, Cameron, and Boone don’t particularly work on the surface, which makes their eventually happily ever after all the sweeter.
Chambers balances the external conflicts that each man faces with the romance arc of building their relationship (both as a trio and three individual couples). No matter who is involved, each steamy moment is incredibly hot and always serves to move the story forward rather than existing as a random sexy bit just thrown in to fill reader expectation. The way the characters are developed makes the “dark moment” between them all the more surprising and poignant, and I was delighted by how everything works out in the end.
All of our favorites from previous books make cameos, and my favorite running joke about Zach and Craig’s relationship makes the best appearance ever. Ted and Kieren, my second-favorite couple, also take on an excellent supporting role here, and once again, the author provides a delicate balance of kink and substantial story progress.
I had a ton of fun with this series and highly recommend it to all fans of MM romance. I hope certain elements of the first book don’t turn off potential readers, but overall, each of these books was such a treat.
I think the author did a great job of writing this as a balanced threesome, brought together on a deeply emotional level, not just because of physical attraction. Each of them brings something to the relationship and can be there for his lovers in his way. It’s not as if one of them is the rock upon which the other two constantly lean. There are several really touching and heartwarming moments in this story, which I loved. All three men are very confident and put-together on the outside, hiding their vulnerability and even their true natures, which really made me care for them and root for a happy outcome.
Boone and Jay tugged on my heartstrings the most. They seemed a bit more lost than did Cameron, filled with more regret for missed chances/past mistakes or more obvious yearning for love and acceptance. Cameron is also hesitant to risk his heart (again), but he is the first one to realize the potential for love between the three of them and is the driving force behind the start of this lovely “throuple”.
I very much enjoyed their story. It’s part of a series, but can be read as a standalone as far as I’m concerned.
This is another great story in the Only Colorado series and I really enjoyed it. It is well-written, sweet, funny, sexy, emotional, the storyline is intriguing and I love the characters. Jay, Cameron and Boone are amazing together and I like how carefully they navigate the beginning of their relationship. They have several issues to deal with but they are very loving and supportive of each other. They just seem to fit perfectly together and are willing to do whatever it takes to make their relationship work. Jay is definitely my favorite as I love his sparkling personality and how well he looks after everyone. The knitted plant cozies are hilarious and are another great thing about him. Jay, Cameron and Boone have an amazing connection and smoking hot chemistry. I love that we get to see many of the characters from the previous books and the ending is perfect. I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us next.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Only For Us is the sixth book in the Only Colorado series by JD Cambers. This book can be read as a standalone but some of the characters from previous books do make appearances. This book features Jay, Cameron, and Boone, each of whom are fighting for their own sense of self-worth. Each of these characters are struggling to figure out who they are, what they like, and what they want to do in life as well as finding acceptance, forgiveness, and communication in their relationships with each other, family, and friends. I love how the author uses the characters in this book - they are real, they've made mistakes, and they're learning about themselves. Would recommend.
Jay is a natural flirt and bossy top but takes the time to make everyone around him feel warm and welcome. He is a barista and wants to also be a baker for the coffee shop he works in. Cameron lost his long term partner a year ago and is having a hard time figuring out who he is without the relationship label. He is a lawyer with a loving family. Boone is a former football player and mostly-closeted. He cheated on his boyfriend with Jay during college and can't seem to get past that label to try to get close to those around him. Jay and Cameron have been in the same friend group for the last few months, but when Cameron meets Boone and both see Jay when out on a date, things start to fall in to place for the three of them.
"Love is infinite. The more people you have to care for, the more love you have to give."
Jay, Cameron, and Boone are lovable and sexy men. Each one has issues that make him doubt his potential as relationship material. Boon has cheated in his past and has never fully come out of the closet. Cameron lost his long-term lover and isn't sure he can find a love like that again. And Jay wants to be in a relationship, but he doesn't think anyone can see him as more than a fling. These sweet men are just right for each other! The relationship doesn't grow without missteps, and it isn't always easy, but there is really not a lot of angst here. The guys are just happier and more fulfilled when they are together than when they are apart. I love this series, and I am so happy to see Jay and Cam find their happy ending with Boone. The author makes it easy to fall in love with her characters, and I look forward to reading her next offering!
When Boone cheated on his boyfriend with Jay, he didn’t expect to have to deal with the repercussions years later. He has gotten close to Cameron and hopes they can get closer.
Cameron and Jay have also gotten close. When the three men realize that they all want each other the feelings between them turns very hot. The path won’t be an easy one but the end results could be spectacular if they can make it work.
I enjoyed the different personalities of these men. Cameron was sweet and open to the possibilities of loving two men. Boone was confused about his longing to have someone take control of his needs. Jay was a twink, but definitely not a bottom. His heart was what made the three of them work. I enjoy MMM stories and this one was well done.
This series is such a great introduction to different kinks and relationships!
Boose, Cameron, and Jay are a delightful poly relationship (they don’t like either throuple or triad to describe themselves), with some hints of Dom and Daddy without being that.
I wish I’d done a super quick reread of the previous books’ plot summaries just to remind me how we’ve met each of these characters before (or heard of them). Most of the MCs from the previous books do make appearances but this can be a standalone, though it might be confusing initially.
Once the MCs meet up and embark on dating, it’s a great menage story. The “dark” moment isn’t very dark and is resolved quickly.
I hope there are more books in the series so we can see these three living their HEA.
Wonderful Triad!! Jay, Boone, and Cameron touched my heart! Incredible character development that enables you to get to know each man, but understand the connection of them together. This book was emotional and i loved how they each grew to be more themselves. I also really enjoyed seeing characters from the previous books have appearances.
I loved Jay's heart and he often made me smile. Cameron was so open to the possibility of loving both Jay and Boone and he was so sweet. Boone was a work in progress, learning to accept his own desires about control. Together their chemistry and their hearts made the triad work.
i love this whole series and highly recommend each of the stories!
The first thing that caught my attention with this book, oddly enough, was the level of the writing. JD Chambers has chops, and I'd like to read something by her with a bit more weight. That's no knock on Only For Us, which is No. 6 in the Only Colorado series, as it does what it's intended to do quite well. It's just that I'd like something with a more complex plot and narrative. I did not read the first five books in the series, but felt comfortable with this installment anyway. The characters are dynamic and easy to connect to, the storyline is entertaining, and the sex is off-the-charts hot. If you like toppy twinks and big submissive jocks, imagine that combo with the addition of a beautiful black attorney to center them. Good stuff. (I read an advanced reader copy of this book.)
This was a great addition to the series. Jay was a bossy twink who had a complicated history with Silas Boone. Cam was finally ready to date after unexpectedly losing his partner. Boone and Cam meet and go out which starts a chain of events that leads them to their hea with Jay. The author did a great job building the chemistry between all of them and it was fantastic! Orgasm denial and light humiliation are the kink elements...I liked the complexity of the relationship within the larger friendship group. It was a very well done story! This can be read as a stand-alone but you may miss some of the subtleties if you haven’t read the series!
These characters are all dealing with different life events making them insecure. Together these 3 men uplift, encourage, support and above all love each other. Part of the relationship is a 2nd chance romance, some of it is learning to love again but the most important part is learning to trust again.
I can't wait to see where JD brings us after this amazing series but it can only get better from here. I do hope we get to catch up with some of these characters in short stories as time goes on.
Only for Us by JD Chambers is the sixth book in The Only Colorado series. It is a fun and sexy romance between three hot and amazing men - Boone, Jay and Cameron. These characters are interesting and entertaining... I fell in love with them and was anxious to see them get a Happily ever after.
The story has a dash of drama to add spice, a great dose of steam, a pinch of sweetness and it all mixes well into a story that will capture you heart.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
This MMM worked for me on so many different levels. I loved that each character has their own backstory and history. You really get a feel for who these guys are. They are so layered and have such depth. The combination of the three works so well together. They each contribute something unique and special to their relationship. There is humor, healing, love, sweetness, funny times and HEAT to this story. The growth that develops throughout the story is well paced and well done. I really enjoyed Boone, Jay and Cameron's journey to their HEA!
So this book has a lot of emotions. I found myself not only deeply enthralled with it at times, but also emotional involved. It is a very lovely read, and filled with love, acceptance, and forgiveness. The characters were well written and at times full of angst. I feel it is a book worthy of reading and strong as a stand alone.
