Talon has betrayed his people. Now he must atone for his broken oaths and marry a woman he doesn’t love, or face banishment forever.
Ambry is the last of a lost race that possesses all traits of magic. Desperate for details about her true heritage, she turns to the cards presented to her by the Seer, Jomeini Straylark. They offer little in the way of answers, until Ambry discovers they aren’t just cards that divine her future. They’re part of a game of destiny, a long lost access point in gaining command over an angelic army, one powerful enough to wipe out an entire race.
If Ambry and Talon want any hope of stopping the Arcaians, of freeing their people trapped in gemstone and releasing their magic, they must play their hand in the game. Hearts must break. Blood must spill. And if the game isn’t played right, they could lose everything they hold dear.

Good book 3 in The Series. This one is one with The most suspense and intrigues on The way. It was fast read That Would grab you and not let go till The end. I really enjoyed That story.
I will miss this series. Courtney Pearson managed to capture my heart with these characters purely by the talent she showed in her writing abilities and unbounded imagination. I was tense pretty much throughout the whole of this finale, believing that this band of people whose strength and weaknesses carried the new, fresh and inventive storyline, was left with only one outcome. There common goal is to end the tyranny, to claim back their freedom, but are they prepared to pay the cost. Again and again they show there versatility. When I thought we had seen the last of some particular characters that had been in the story from the beginning, they proved me wrong, banding together again, facing betrayal, resistance & sacrifice while being stretched rigid with decisions. My favourite characters Ambry & Talon, oh my heart broke so much, even in the good times I was still emotional as my heart was so full. It sounds like I’m describing a romance book, but no, it was purely the realism the author injects into these people that captures you. The storyline is one of struggle, pain, lose, war, shock, insanity, pure evil that constantly digs and hurts all those it touches. Infused with magic, fantasy, strength, perplexity with powerful unity and love. This series will capture your imagination and transport you to a place that you wont question its reality. The writing picks you up, then throws you down and wrings every emotion out of you. Cortney Pearson has earned every one of this 5 star recommendation and then some. You will find out the answers to The mysteries and questions unanswered that have ebbed and flowed throughout the whole series. You will never be bored that’s for sure, as every sentence holds you in its grasp until the final word of the final book. This has been my first experience reading books written by this author, leaving me with a definite desire to read more.
I was excited and anxious to find out what happened with our favorite forbidden true loves, who can't act on their true love or be together. Of course, Talon being Talon, has to be noble and righteous, and almost ruins everything. Shasa really surprised me and I'm really beginning to like her a lot. I think there is one more book, so I hope that her character arc continues and she gets a really great redemption, compared to the first *several* chapters of knowing her. I do love how this book has a great mix of sadness and happiness. There is joy, but the dosage of heartbreak and pain is really well done and laid out. It gives the reader a great emotional rollercoaster, which we all know is something we desire. I love the inner turmoil that many characters have. The story is so multi-faceted and it prevents the characters from making quick selfish choices. The characters are not two-dimensional, even when they are side characters, and it makes for a really lovely well-rounded immersive story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Stolen Tears series, and Ms. Pearson did not disappoint with Such a Dangerous Game, the conclusion. I felt as if the characters in the series were my friends...Talon, Ambry, Ren, Shasa, Jomeini.. I knew them well, cared about what happened to them, cheered for their victories and cried at their difficulties. Ms. Pearson clearly pours her heart and soul into writing, and the results are fabulous!
The world she has created for this series is so very interesting! The details of the people, their lands, their magical abilities, and their lives are just incredible. I can't state enough how fascinated I've been by the whole series. It's definitely one that I will enjoy reading again. There is so much detail involved that it will definitely be just as captivating as the first time read.
The only thing is disliked about this series is that it has concluded! Well done, Ms. Pearson! I eagerly look forward to your next adventures!
I read the first two books a long time ago and I loved them both, so when I was told that the third book is coming out I had to get my hands on it. The author did not disappoint. I was worried that I would not remember anything since I read the second book but the strange thing is once I started reading the things that happened in the first two books came back to me. I found the book to be more intense and moved more quickly, there is suspense, intrigue, romance, action, adventure and the best thing it has a happy ending! I will miss these characters but I am looking forward to reading the authors other books. Would highly recommend this book to all since there is no sexual content or profanity. It has some violence but it is not graphic.
A jaw-dropping conclusion - the best book in this series. What a journey it has been - so bittersweet now that the series has ended. I fell in love with this series and these characters right from the beginning and to have read the ending is just so sad and bittersweet - did not want to say my goodbyes to this world and these characters so soon.
The betrayal. The madness. The emotion. So capturing and exciting and tense.
Full of wizards, prophecy, games, war, enemies, traitors, action, betrayal, sirens, nymphs, angels, madness, tears, emotions and love.
I received a free copy for an honest review. Wow, I didn't see that coming. I didn't see any of it coming really. This was a fantastic finale to a great series. A couple of questions were left unanswered and I really hope a novella or a book comes out that answers them. This is an amazing series to read if you are a fan of fantasy and adventure with smidgeons of romance in the mix.
An exhilarating end to a wonderful series. Talon and Ambrey wove a link to my soul. This series has so much evil vs. good and we all know that good triumphs, but Courtney Pearson weaves the characters betwixt and between the good and evil effortlessly. This is a great series and will capture your heart as it did mine.
Wow. Lots of suspense and intrigue to keep you going until the end. Each book just keeps getting better , if that’s even possible. Don’t miss out once the book is released.
Ambry and her friends are on for so many more obstacles. There are some unexpected twists and surprises in this last book. Definitely enjoyed the ending.
I was given this series for review about a year and a half ago and I'm only now finishing the third book😅 IT IS IN NO WAY THE SERIES FAULT! Well, it kind of is. It was so good I read it too quickly and burnt myself out and I had trouble picking it back up.
I started the first half of this book in late 2019 or 2020 and because it's been so long, I'm not sure I can write a proper review for this since I can't remember half of what happened😅 And even longer since I read book one. Which also explains the reason I rated it like I did.
I think if you're looking for a unique read and a different take on magic systems, you'd definitely enjoy this one. It also has an arranged marriage, betrayal, plot twists, a sort of love triangle but not actually, and an enemies to lovers trope. Oh, and characters you love to hate.
