Valentina is in mourning for her fire-fighter father who was killed because of Javier, a coyote shifter and drug runner. To honor her father, Valentina joins his fire crew, Los Osos Demonios, in her small Mexican village. Across the border is Big Bend Park where Elijah is a fire management ranger and a member of his bear shifter clan.

When Elijah and Valentina meet, they recognize that they are fated mates. As such, they have instant chemistry together – but this also puts them in great danger from the coyote clan Alpha, Javier, who threatens and intimidates to keep everyone under his control. He wants Valentina to stay away from Elijah, despite their strong attraction. The only way for them to be together would require they go up against the Los Aulladores coyote clan, endangering the lives of Valentina’s family. Would Elijah be willing to fight for her? Can they have a future together?

I really enjoyed this book! Valentina is a strong, likable young woman who is not afraid to do the right thing, even if it risks her own life. Elijah is strong and protective and the reader can easily admire his qualities. The author does a great job of pulling the reader into the well-paced story right through to the end.

I read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book of the Werebears Of Big Bend series. In this book, Valentina is a bear shifter who lost her father recently and wants to take his place on the firefighting team Los Osos Demonios. Valentina lives in a small border village and the team frequently assists the rangers of Big Bend Park. When Elijah meeets Valentina, he is shocked at the instant attraction he feels toward her. Elijah is a ranger and a bear shifter also. When he asks Valentina to meet him to take a tour of the park, they agree to meet in bear form and they enjoy a magical night. Both Elijah and Valentina realize they are fated mates and want to be together. Unfortunately, a coyote shifter named Javier, who is the leader of a local gang, notices Valentina getting close to Elijah and thinks the ranger is going to interfere with his drug trade, so he threatens Valentina and her family to get her to cut off contact with Elijah. I liked this book, there was a great connection between Elijah and Valentina and i think they were great together. I love how Elijah never gave up and tried everything to get back to Valentina. There was danger with Javier and his gang that made them even more determined to find a way to be together. Good one.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. This is another delightful bear shifter story. It is part of a series but works very well as a standalone novel. It is a shorter novel and a quick read, but is not short on shifter action or steamy romance. Elijah and Valentina captured my heart right from the start and I really enjoyed their journey to find love and each other. This story is full of intrigue and suspense and a lot of shifter action. The chemistry between Elijah and Valentina sizzles with heat and the heartwarming romance takes your breath away. Wonderful read!

Fighting for their love

This book was very hard to put down once I started reading it. The description of the chemistry between Elijah and Valentina is hot enough to jump off the pages and burn you. The author did an amazing job with how the story started and the increment in anticipation, of how or if Elijah and Valentina would be together. The drama and chaos in their lives kept me captivated made me want to find a way for them to be together. It is the author’s great writing that made the story come alive. I will definitely recommend this book.

You're gonna need tissues - a blooming big box of them

But every single tear, sob, sigh and hiccup and sigh is worth it.
This book is so emotional, right from the start and it continues until the very end.
I flipping loved it. I cried buckets and buckets of tears and sobbed my heart out - especially at Elijah's surprise (that's all I'm saying about that!)
Once again Meg Ripley has reduced me to a jabbering wreck - but this book isn't just sadness or emotional turmoil - there's determination, fighting spirit and family/clan live and loyalty.
Come and join the bears of Big Bend - true love never did run smoothly - but if it's worth having then it's worth the fight of your life

Elijah's Mate is another story in the Werebears of Big Bend series. This book follows Elijah, one of the Big Bend werebears, and Valentina, a werebear from across the Rio Grande. They meet in a controlled burn taking place in the Big Bend National Park and the chemistry is instantaneous. As fated mates, they are destined to be together. How that happens is the basis of the book. Meg Ripley excels in written imagery and she weaves an adult tale with expertise. While there are few surprises, this HEA is entertaining. 4 stars

I loved this book it was a great quick read that was full of emotion from the get go. My heart hurt for Valentina and her family with the trouble they faced. Ellijah was just what every girl wants in a partner, possessive, protective, but loveable in every way. The chemistry between these two characters was fast paced and you couldn't help but root for them to find their way. Looking forward to meeting more of the bears in Big Bend searching for the fated mates.

Valentina is a competent, courageous young woman mourning her father. A nefarious coyote, Javier, was directly responsible for his death. To honor him, Valentina joins his fire crew, Los Osos Demionios. That brings her into direct contact with the Rangers of Big Bend. Meeting Elijah will cause sparks to fly, change their lives, and bring them into danger. I enjoyed getting to know more of the Big Bend clan and recommend your reading this entire series.

Valentina lives across the border in a small Mexican village and just joined their fire fighting team, Los Osos Demonios. She replaced her father who died while doing a job for the drug running coyote gang who rules their village through threats and intimidation. When Elijah and Valentina meet face to face they discover they are fated mates. Through danger and adversity the two work to be together with the help of family and clan. I love stories where both parties realize from the beginning they are their mate. This was no exception. This was so sweet. The suspense was killing me but the ending was worth it. I love that Elijah was able to sense Valentina needed him and he came to her rescue. It didn't disappoint that the women are also strong and can defend themselves too. Elijah seeing that and letting Valentina do her thing while still wanting to be the alpha and protect her was amazing.

I loved this book. I felt bad for what happened with Valentina's father and what Javier did to her. I loved that Elijah was just completely sure that Valentina was the one for him and he didn't just give up on her. I am glad that Javier got what was coming to him. Once I started I just wanted to keep reading so I could find out what happened next. I loved everything about this book and the ending definitely made me smile. I will be reading this again.

Loved this short story. Valentina has lost her father, so she decides to honor him by joining the Demonios crew. Elijah is part of the park rangers. They meet at a burn. Javier runs the Los Aulladoers gang. He demands that Valentina never see Elijah again and the reason her father is dead. What will she do to save herself and her family? What will Elijah do to get her back? Can they ever win against Javier?

An Amazing book 2 in the “Werebears of Big Bend” series! It is well written, quite the page turner, full of drama, intrigue, twists, surprises, and suspense. Well-developed storyline with interesting strong characters that has a lot of depth and you will love; the chemistry between them is off the charts. This is an on the edge of your seat read from beginning to end, so hold on to your seats because you are in for quite a ride. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Elijah is in charge of the fire fighting in Big Bend. When he meets Valentina when the crew she is on from Mexico assists on a fire, he knows she is his fated mate. Valentina has taken her father's place on the fire crew after his death. A gang of fox shifters are to blame and have control of the town where she lives. After a night together, the gang leader forbids her from having any contact with Elijah and threatens her family if she does. What happens when the fated lovers are separated and what must happen so they have a chance for a HEA is heartbreaking, dangerous journey.

Overcoming obstacles...

While this the second story in the series, if you haven't read the first it's okay. I actually think I like this one better than book one. Elijah and Valentina were wonderful characters with plenty of chemistry between them. Their road to a HEA was paved with plenty of love, angst and drama.

I love Meg's books you know that in every book you will get an adventure full of steamy heat and chemistry between the characters. This is another good story about the Big Ben series. Elijah is werebear of Big Bend and Valentina, his fated mate, lives in Mexico just across the border. Standing between them is Javier. Will they be able to overcome the problems and threats standing between them and get their HEA. It is another adventure for the Big Bend clan. And a very satisfying read by Meg.

This is Elijah's and Valentina's story. Valentina is a strong female bear shifter who adored her father. He was killed and she decided to honor his memory by joining her father's fire fighting crew. This is how she meets Elijah who is one of the rangers. They work together and fall in love quickly. Then problems arise and they are kept apart and it hurts both of them. This is a fantastic story and I can't wait to read the next story. I loved this story. Thank you.

Elijah and Valentina have a great story to tell, it has tons of action, with scenes of shifter fights and plenty of angst and emotion, as well as plenty of steam. it will keep you on the edge of you seat the whole way through. it was a great read.
