Her fascination with the Middle East began in 1989 when she met and married her husband. Her love for his family, culture, and people inspired Mediterranean Sunset, the first in a trilogy.
Every time I see the sunset is a message of peace, hope and a memory for the future. Mediterranean Sunset is a beautiful story of a strong woman named Fatima. The author made me love this stunning read. I taste the culture of the Mediterranean and how a woman can be strong and empower herself to achieved anything she desired. The read have an interesting plot by the perspective of Fatima and how we fight with the struggles during life. There's always the Sunset to fill the courage and a new promise to never give up.
I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving an ARC from Goodreads New Adult Book Club.
I would give it 2.5 stars. The book is jumbled in the beginning. There isn't a clear timeline of events. The structure could have been better. To me, Chapter 1 should have been a prologue to show foreshadowing. To me, Chapter 2 should have come later in the book and Chapter 3 should have immediately started after the prologue with Fatima's 16 birthday. The book does get better and does become more structured - making it easier to follow.
I loved the concept of story. There were things that made the book long and boring. There were things that made me think, how would Fatima know how to do that. Fatima has lived in a privileged bubble for most her life and things in her country are new to her. Her buying a listening device, I would think would caused red flags in a male dominated community.
Really struggled to get through the book. I found it lacked a bit of flow which made me have to actively think about who people were and how the story connected together.
This was an unexpected surprise. Started to read it before I interviewed the author and was captivated by the plot, the characters and the combination of romance and suspense. Fatima is a young Muslim woman raised in DC who has to enter an arranged marriage. Turns out her forced marriage leads her to the love of her life. Even though I’m not a fan of romantic novela, this one has enough turns to maintain your interest. Exciting, exotic and timeless.

I enjoyed this book! I enjoyed the tasteful romance, the suspense, as well as learning about the culture. I found myself stealing a moment here and there just to read this book. It’s a book you don’t want to put down, And at the same time at a loss when you read the last page. My first thought upon the conclusion of this book was...darn, now what am I going to read. I can’t wait for the authors next book.
This book was pure fun. I'm not a huge romance person, but this book had enough crazy twists and suspense to keep me intrigued. I feel like if you like Jane the Virgin, you would LOVE this book! The ending was a bit rushed, but considering the book's focus on romance, I think it was ok.
I honestly have to say that I struggled a bit with this read. In the beginning I git a little confused with timeline and it did feel a bit drawn-out but I a, really glad I kept on reading. I really liked the story. Fatima had some big stones to overcome to get her HEA.
A very well weaved story, hard to stop reading it. Its detailed narrative, the cultural and religious references, the use of the flashbacks, the erotic scenes..... I loved it! A must read!
A great book , amazing story. I loved the cultural education, the love and the sexiness a book that has it all. " A must read" and I very much looking forward to the second book.
