Warning: this book contains a harem, violent action, and adult content.
Joshua King is a Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy writer that loves a killer story mixed with a few ongoing fantasies. Strong gorgeous women, super evil villains, precarious situations, and a normal dude that gets transformed into making it happen are all part of the fun.
When not writing, he's watching movies, traveling the US with his wife and son, or paying homage to the God of War. He's hoping to entertain you and give you a few minutes of heart-racing fun or mind-bending mystery in the various worlds he's created or the ones he plans to create.
This book is arguably the worst of the three books. By a lot. Let's just say where the story felt disjointed, the motivations confusing and a lot of the plans childish or ill thought out before. This one takes the case. To add insult to injury, it ends on a MASSIVE cliff hanger right in the middle.
The behaviour of a great many people and factions makes little sense. The MC never even thinks to contact the Warlocks, it's all of a sudden thrown in that apparently his real parents are dead all along, something that was never mentioned before. Somehow Darian is the super evil, nobody can stand up to him and he can do everything. Yet the plan some folks have is to produce a war between the Warlocks and the Vampires. So apparently the warlocks can, yet don't and can't even protect themselves.
Basically, a lot of the stuff that is going on and we're told is inherently conflicting and self-contradictory. A bunch of actions which seem logical are never undertaken or even considered by anyone. It feels as if the story is falling apart more and more.
As the plot thickens so does the mystery and truth of what's happening to everyone. Defiantly plots within each other, having to be drawn out from little quest. The adventures continue on with any growth hard won.
this series is fast paced the protagonist seems to jump through twists and turns at a blinding pace and so far its been fantastic (i hate long interludes between actions in a story)
Hayden is lost in a riddle for his life and the lives of others. With so many unknowns and just a few friends who to trust with the need to find Malakan.
I enjoyed this story. Fighting to learn how he got to where he is, trying to sort through his past while having to fight at every turn makes for an exciting read.
