Uneven Read and Author Needs To Dump Partnership Concept
“The Dotari Salvation (Terran Strike Marines Book 1),” allegedly authored by Mr. Richard Fox and Mr. Scott Moon, is a very uneven read, at times decent, other times drivel, that begs for Mr. Fox to jettison his recent attempts at having a co-author. The sole author’s notes within the book is about Mr. Moon, nothing regarding Mr. Fox. It echos the same circumstantial evidence of “Terra Nova.” Mr. Fox is subcontracting, outsourcing his brand.
Mr. Fox tried a partnership in “Terra Nova,” a total bust in this reader’s view. He revisits the flawed concept again in “The Dotari Salvation,” bringing in Mr. Moon. It. Does. Not. Work. First, the storyline is obviously written by a tactically obsessed author, someone who revels in the minutiae of procedural tactical doctrine, woodenly repeating room and area clearing, rather than advancing an entertaining story. It. Does. Not. Work. Secondly, the “Dotari” characters, honorable, courageous, and engaging throughout “The Ember War” works, are treated as lowbrow, slapstick cannon fodder in this work. The initial chapter bringing the latest iteration of “Strike Marines,” with “Dotari,” is nearly unreadable, due to its stilted and awkward writing. Much of the dialogue comes across as inane teenage snarkiness, rather than the black humor of comrades in combat. It. Does. Not. Work. Finally, throughout the book, there are enjoyable narratives that echo Mr. Fox’s voice, reminiscent of earlier works of “The Ember War” universe. Those. Do. Work.
Bluntly, this reader has been a fan of Mr. Fox’s solo works, enjoying over a dozen of them. His repeated decision to partner with low caliber authors, as in “The Dotari Salvation,” has negatively tempered this reader’s viewpoint. Quantity over quality is not why this reader has read Mr. Fox.
“The Dotari Salvation,” has a qualified recommendation. There are sections that work, but it is not a true representation of a Mr. Fox work. The book was fully read via Kindle Unlimited.
"Welcome to hell in a tin can." The Ember War is over. The Dotari allies have returned, at last, to their home land. But so much time has passed, the people have lost their immunities to the pathologies of the planet. And they are dying of an incurable disease which has defied all medical treatment. Only one solution is viable: to find the sleeper ships sent out in search of refuge so many years before and get samples of the original natural immunities to return the natural protection. But the ships seem impossibly far away and no-one knows what they will find when they get there. An exciting action filled adventure with emotional undertones even if the protagonists are somewhat two dimensional.
kindle unlimited, have read quite a few of Moon's books, but hint here, probably not a good idea to read a humourous space opera then a more military one, so may have affected the score for me.

The Dotari Salvation is an action-packed military science fiction adventure set in the best-selling Ember War universe
A great read in a new series of the ember war books that focus on a new team of strike marines! The original team were great fun and this new bunch looks set to pick up the baton! Bring on book 2!
Really enjoyed this one. Great characters and action. The Strike Marines are called in for an unusual mission, but they’re used to that. Improvise, adapt and overcome. That’s their motto.
No one writes fight scenes like these two. Excellent start to a new story arc, a must read. Great characters, some new some returning. I read this book on Kindle Unlimited. It is very much worth your time. Read Ember wars first!
Mostly enjoyed the book. It is well written with good characters. I'm not a big zombie fan, so I don't care for the bad guys. Regardless, it is a good 4 star book. I plan to mine the authors for more good reading.
Well written, enjoyable story, looking forward to the next book.
Well written with relatable characters. Interesting plot that fluidly shifts between all the different threads. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Outstanding start to the series. I am going to enjoy this one, a bit of the old and a bunch of the new. Now we move on to the different and action aplenty. I look forward to the next book. Thanks for a GoodRead.
Really enjoyed it. The story was slow to start but then kept me reading it. Maybe a bit over the top in the "heros" against all odds, and the finish a bit of an easy one, but it was a story and it worked 😁
A side-play in the Ember War series, involving the Terran Marines in the fate of their Dotari allies, who face extinction due to a genetic shortcoming. Fringe characters from previous stories come to the fore as leaders and heroes. Fnas of author Richard Fox and the Ember Wars will enjoy it, but the tale itself is not one of his best efforts.
