M.C. Fox has long been fascinated by the world of espionage. Living right in the heart of New York City, she constantly is inspired by the sights and sounds of a large city, and how that forms the perfect environment for a fast-paced thriller. Given our currently unstable political climate, as well as the Russian hacking of the election, she knew that now was the perfect time to bring her readers a spy story set in the world of political cyber-espionage, led by a fierce female protagonist.

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

After an action packed beginning, a female CIA supervisor is almost killed and her family is kidnapped. She hunts for her family, people keep trying to kill her, and we get a good old fashioned mole hunt.

Not the most action packed novel, but a good amount of tension is generated.

*Received from Cozy Mystery Review Crew and voluntarily reviewed.*

This one started out a bit slow for me, it took about 50 pages for me to really get invested. Which was right about where Isabella, the newly appointed Chief Supervisor at CIA headquarters, first realizes that her children and her mother might be in danger. She's interrogating a man who attacked her, and when he tells her she'll never save her family, she hightails it home, to find signs of a struggle and her mother and her young twins missing.

At one point I became suspicious of one of her coworkers, and I thought to myself “I'm gonna figure this out before Isabella, darn it.” But on the next page Isabella voiced her own suspicions of that same character, which made me hopeful the book would keep me guessing after all. And it delivered! Along with some twists and turns, there's a LOT of action. While Isabella is a kick ass character, a little suspension of belief is still needed. The narrative jumps around, with some chapters focusing on her mother, Valerie, desperately trying to escape the kidnappers and keep the kids' morale up, and other chapters focusing on Andre, a Russian computer code whiz, whose own family have also been kidnapped. He's being forced to work on a computer virus, and if he doesn't cooperate his family will be killed. I felt sorry for him, of course, and despite what he's working on I had sympathy for him.

The virus was what I had a little trouble with. I mean, I know there are some serious ones out there that can cause all kinds of problems if your computer is infected. But this was like a supervirus that would literally destroy our country. I guess that's plausible? I just couldn't quite see how one computer virus could take out a whole country. But, suspension of belief in place.

As much as I liked Isabella, I liked Valerie even more. She's a former agent herself, but never worked out in the field where all the physical action is. While reassuring the twins that their mother would find and rescue them, she stepped up and did everything she could to get herself and the twins away from the kidnappers. I probably related to her a bit more, being a grandmother and not as physically fit as Isabella. I hope that if I were in Valerie's situation I would be as brave as she was.

I will admit that if I came across this book in a store, I probably wouldn't have given it a second glance based on the title and the cover. So hopefully others will look past those. Just one more example of never judge a book by it's cover. I don't know if the author plans to write any further books about Isabella, but I would like to read more!

Countdown America by M.C. Fox is a compelling and exhilarating thriller of the first water. Although seemingly unrealistic, it's hard to know as our government is transparent only when it suits them. Isabella has recently been promoted to supervisor of a division in the CIA. She has come up through the ranks and is very good at her job. She lives with her mother and her young twins, her husband having succumbed to cancer a few years earlier. After a personal attack and a subtle threat against her family she rushes home to find they have been taken. What the heck is going on? Why is she being targeted? Can she get them back and find the perpetrators? Too many questions. Things are moving too quickly.

Probably the biggest thing to give me pause in Countdown America is how many foreign agents have infiltrated the CIA ant high levels. Surely that is not accurate? The reader discovers them right along with Isabella, with only minor foreshadowing. It was a well put-together plot at was meticulous in the way it unfolded. Isabella was a compelling character, as was her mother. Never-say-die women with singular focus and creativity. It contained violence but did not dwell on it or overly describe it, a fact I appreciated. Not normally my kind of book, Countdown America held my attention, and often had me holding my breath, as well. I recommend it as outstanding in its genre and well as a welcome break of readers of other genres.

I received a free ARC of Countdown America through the Mystery Review Crew in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own.

This political cyberespionage novel is a great read for lovers of fierce female protagonists and CIA crime thrillers.

Meet Isabella Bendel, a kick-ass single mom and CIA agent whose hands are deadly weapons. While out for her Sunday morning run, she suspects she’s being followed. Things don’t turn out to well for one Viktor Gachev, a Russian agent and hit man. But that is just the beginning. After nearly being killed, her family is kidnapped and Isabella is on a race against time to find out who wants her dead—and why.

Enter Andre Dubrovsky, a Russian and a data technology expert, who completes a cyberattack on a small credit union in Chicago to test run a plan to destroy America financially; if he doesn’t succeed, his wife and son will die. Isabella’s and Andre’s paths intertwine when they both want to stop the mastermind of a plan to decimate the United States by technologically dismantling its infrastructure.

But wait! Did Isabella’s attacker Gachev really die by suicide while in CIA’s custody, just after being questioned by Agent Bendel herself? Was it really Cyanide? Or is there a mole inside of Isabella’s team? And who is Ivan Borisovich? Read Countdown America for yourself and find out!

This book was just an amazing read!!! If I could give it over 5*’s, I definitely would. I started reading this at 3, just to start it and had finished it by 6. I just couldn’t put it down.

The story centres on CIA agent Isabella Bendel, who lost her husband just after her twins were born. Due to the birth of her children, she had started doing more in-house work, rather than field work, and has just been promoted to Chief Supervisor in her work location in Washington DC. Her mother, an ex-CIA codebreaker, helps her by looking after the children when they aren’t at school, or she has to work late. She thought she was in a fairly safe role and wouldn’t be in any danger of leaving her kids without any parents, but she was wrong.

Someone has a plan and it involves getting rid of her. On her usual Sunday run, she is attacked by a man who is clearly trying to kill her. She had caught sight of a car and man, who she suddenly realised she had seen around her home and just managed to avoid his first strike. She manages to restrain him and dumps him in her car and takes him back to an interrogation room back at her HQ. When she tried to question him, he mocks her and this is when she finds out the attack wasn’t just on her, they have taken her children, and mother, as well. Who this group is and why they have targeted her or her family, is completely unknown.

All she knows is that there is a link to Russians, but the main plot and who is behind it and what they are attempting to achieve, is completely unknown. Isabella has to use all her previous field work experience and training, to try and get her family back. She has to find out who she can trust, as there may be a mole within their department. The obvious choice may not be the correct one! She has someone from her field days, with her husband, before they had got married and were working together, that she trusts explicitly and calls for her assistance.

Everything is being piled into finding her children and mother and there may be a Russian plot to uncover, but no-one is looking. They are all distracted by the kidnapping. Isabella has to deal with another assassin, cyber-attacks, a mole in her close knit group of trusted personnel/agents and a Russian led plot to destroy the very fabric of the United States. All of this leads to great, non-stop action and a thrill of a read. This was one of the most exciting thrillers I have ever read and I couldn’t put it down at all. I would recommend it to all. You have betrayal, loss, Russian sleeper agents, modern day computer viruses and cyber warfare, cold blooded psycho killers and a kick-ass mother and grandmother!!!

I will certainly look out for any next books by this author, as this is the only one listed on Amazon, so it could be a while. If this is the author’s first book, it is a cracker and shows a lot of skill in telling a story. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I’m sitting here trying to figure out what I just read. Part of me is stunned by the twists, the emotions, and creativity. The other part of me is petrified that it’s so close to being a reality. More so than I any of us realize.

Isabella is being attacked on a personal level. She expects that the stress of the job, the scenarios she’s been placed in as well as the sheer intensity of missions she sent in on will be used to attack her in some way. However, this time it comes to a personal level that she can’t figure out.

Someone has taken her family and she’s out for blood. As a highly trained operative and newly promoted supervisor, she has the tools and knowledge at hand to tenaciously find them and make the bad guys pay. But when you throw in the fact she’s a mother all bets are off. Nothing can stop the fierceness of a mother bear when you’ve harmed her babies and clan. For Isabella, it's more than the usual mission to exploit espionage. Its time to make them pay.

Not only as a parent does it scare the life out of me how easily abduction can happen but you throw in that there are terrorists who are actively attempting to bring down the nation by any means necessary. For some, that means infiltrating the objective and becoming one of “them”. We live in a world now where the cyber world controls so much of our existence. With something as what can seem “simple” to most, a bunch of characters on a screen inputted in the right sequence can shut down banks, emergency response, schools, shoot even the internet itself and leave everyone at the mercy of the terrorists and their mission.

Because of the way the author was able to incorporate so much knowledge between the ongoing storyline of finding Isabella’s family, I was sucked in and was not ready to be disturbed. More than once I stopped to ponder how much of it could be and probably is a reality. Then there were the few times I yelled at my kindle as a big twist happened and I was left wondering how it was the author was able to distract me quickly enough to make me forget about a moment, character or incident briefly.

I really loved this book. I loved the intrigue, the thrill, and the suspense. It is a very well written and fascinating look into the spy world. Loved it, a sure winner!

“Countdown America” by M.C. Fox is a thriller, mystery novel which is based on the life of a CIA agent Isabella. Isabella is a very hardworking woman but after the death of her husband, she is facing a lot of trouble managing her life mentally and socially. She wants to be able to make time for her twins and carry her job responsibly. But this is becoming quite a difficult day by day. And here comes the twist when her family is kidnapped and she survived an attempt on her life. Now, with these situations, she has to keep solving the mystery of an attack being planned on the U.S. by its Russian enemy. All the CIA force is trying to locate her family. Will she be reunited with her family? Who is trying to attack her country? To know more, read the book!

This book is indeed outstandingly planned and executed. Each twist and turn are a very interesting scene to read. For me, it was a four-star read because I kind of felt the characters could have been described a bit better. Other than that, I absolutely enjoyed reading the whole plot which has been laid in a fantastic way. This book gave me chills from time to time. I am happy to be able to get my hands on this book. The author has laid emphasis on life, death, responsibility, and motherhood. The language of the book is quite simple which makes it easy for anyone to read. Also, the characters are not in abundance. There are a few and all fit their roles pretty well.

I recommend this book to all mystery and thriller lovers. I am sure to recommend it to readers who are new to reading because of the ease of the book’s language and the simplicity of the concept. This book will prove to be an interesting read for all those who grab a copy of it.

Imagine the abduction of your family? This is the terror faced by Isabella Bendel, who was recently widowed and has been newly promoted in the CIA as the Chief Supervisor of the Cyberterrorism Unit in Washington D.C. Isabella’s life is turned upside with two attempts on her life and the kidnapping of her mother and two children. This leaves Isabella with questions. Why is she a target, and who is targeting her? Why kidnap her family, and will she be able to locate them before any harm might befall them? As Isabella continues the search for her family, it becomes apparent that there is a Russian threat to the United States and a mole in the agency. Will Isabella discover the identity of the double agent and stop the plans of a sinister group before it is too late?

M.C. Fox pulls readers into this thrilling story involving espionage in which the tension and suspense build into an exciting climax. Fox keeps readers in suspense and invested enough to want to keep turning the pages until the end. Fans of political spy stories with a strong female protagonist will enjoy Countdown America. Surprising twists and turns make for an interesting, realistic, and engaging story that includes deception, abduction, assault, murder, extortion, and perseverance. The short fast-paced chapters grip and hold readers’ attention. Fox has created complex characters who are portrayed in a realistic and believable manner, whether they are on the right or wrong side of the law. The book culminates in a satisfying closure that wonderfully connects the beginning of the story to the ending. An enthralling novel that can be finished in one sitting.

I like mysteries and I like thrillers—this book is a good combination of the two. I’ve always been drawn to books dealing with spies and national security, and this really satisfies. The main characters are likable, strong and resourceful. This book was a quick read and hard to put down once it got going. The writing is excellent, the plot intricate, and the resolution plausible. I highly recommend this book and I’d like to read more by this author. I was provided a copy of this book, but these opinions are my own.

M.C. Fox has written a masterpiece with her new novel titled Countdown America. It is a suspenseful thriller that

takes the reader into the world of cyberterrorism and espionage.

The author’s style of writing engulfs the reader into a non-stop series of events from beginning to end. This is an action-packed, fast-paced adventure with excitement and suspense at every turn.

The story takes us into the life of Isabella Bendel. Isabella is the lead female character who is strong, independent, and highly skilled and trained as a CIA field agent. Not only that, she is also a single mother of two young children.

The author chose to portray a female in a high position of authority to show that women are stepping up and moving into positions of power. In Isabella’s case, she is a single parent with a demanding job to do.

After Isabella loses her husband she accepts a promotion to Chief Supervisor of the Cyberterrorism Unit. Along with the promotion she runs into new life-threatening situations at every turn. Only to leave one question, “why?”.

Fearing for her life, and the lives of her family, Isabella sets out on what turns out to be shocking and surprising to her as a race against time. Not only for herself but for the entire United States as well.

Fox takes Isabella on a search for answers as she steps into a world of assassins, hacking, and terrorists. She also discovers that some people are not who they seem to be which poses the question of who can and cannot be trusted.

Isabella will stop at nothing to protect her family and prove that she can get the job done.

I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in spy novels.

WOW! You just can't put this book down once you start! A screamingly fast paced thriller that not only keeps you on the edge of your seat, but keeps you turning pages. With so many twists, turns, plots, subplots, kidnappings, assassination attempts on our heroine, espionage, moles within the department, how can you possibly stop reading. With the death of CIA agent Isabella Bendel, she is promoted to Chief Supervisor so she could be closer to her family and not be in absolute danger. However, good intentions don't always play out when an assassination attempt is made on her life. When she captured the assassin and brings him in for questioning, strange things start to happen, like when she returns to the interrogation room and the assassin is found dead! This starts the beginning of some intense investigation which leads to not only another assassination attempt on Isabella, but the kidnapping of her mother a retired agent and her children and starts to open up to a very incredible plot to take down America. Isabella has a lot on her plate which keeps you turning pages trying to figure out the mole, what the end game is and why someone wants to take Isabella out. Will she foil the plot to bring down the country? Will she be able to get her mother and children back or will they be sacrificed for the greater good? Who can she trust? With twists and turns and red-herrings you are led down a path only to find it is the wrong one! This is a thrilling read and I can't wait to read more from this author! I received and ARC for this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

This is a gripping, action-packed, mystery-filled read, laced with deceit and betrayal that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.

I love a good suspense-read, who doesn’t? There’s a strong female lead who’s climbed her way to the near-top, and the reader is shown a little background that gets across how well she deserves to be where she is.

There are terrorists with a long-underway plan about to come to fruition and human lives plus American life as we know it all at risk…

Twists and turns are also fairly abundant and while I did predict all of them, they still were extremely fun to experience. I missed this book whenever I put it down and I still miss it, now that it’s been finished for a couple weeks.

I cannot wait to see what else is in store for Bendel, I expect things will not calm down any time soon. There were some strong secondary things as well.

It’s mostly well-edited and there were only a couple little things I’d do differently—things that didn’t distract from / or negatively impact the reading experience.

Overall:
4 stars

Wow! This book grabs you from the beginning and does not let go until the final page. Main character Isabella is a CIA supervisor who is drawn into a crazy web of intrigue and suspense. The reader is drawn in right along with her! Isabella is a strong, capable character, while still managing to remain human and likeable. She seems like someone you'd enjoy spending a pleasant afternoon with, and also someone you'd want around if you were in any kind of danger. Isabella's mother is also a wonderful, strong female character, and I enjoyed her part of the story as well.

The plot was amazing! There was so much going on, and pretty much all of it was intense. Yet it never seemed like too much...everything that happened needed to happen, and made perfect sense as part of the overall story.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense, thrillers, and strong female characters. Just don't pick it up until you have some time to devote to it, because it was VERY hard to put down once I started. If you're an action/adventure fan, you can't go wrong with this one!

Countdown America by M.C. Fox is a terrific book that I couldn’t put down. A mix of mystery, espionage, and thrilling suspense, it focuses on newly promoted CIA Chief Supervisor Isabella Bendel. Widowed she lives with her mother and six-year-old twins. Just after her promotion, her family is kidnapped and someone tries to assassinate Isabella. There are several threads, including a second assassination attempt, that develop throughout the book which involve cyber-security, a probable Russian plot, and a possible CIA mole. Through it all Isabella is a very strong woman and a tough CIA agent. Her kidnapped mother, a former CIA agency employee, is also a great woman as she seeks to protect the twins.
I found the story and characters well-developed and I was totally engaged right until the end. Although I eventually I began to have a sense of what was going on, and I was partially correct, it did not detract from the suspense. The writing was good and the story lines well done. I definitely recommend Countdown America.

Wild ride of a thriller that reads like a blockbuster movie script. I willingly set aside disbelief to hitch onto the coattails of Isabella Bendel, Chief Supervisor of the CIA. Do I really buy the premise that a woman could prevail over two murderous assailants in a single day? Probably not, but -- dang!-- she's a tough cookie and I got plenty of vicarious punches landed by tagging along. The book is fast-paced with nonstop action and multiple plot twists. It's a quick and entertaining read with an incredible, but satisfying resolution leaving plenty of room for sequels. Four solid stars from me.

This thrilling novel kept me on the edge of my seat! I sacrificed sleep to keep reading, because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. (And as a mom of two little ones, there is not much I give up sleep for!) My favorite part of Countdown America is the heroine, Isabella, who is fierce, smart, savvy and unstoppable. So refreshing to read an action novel with a mother as the protagonist. I can't wait for more by M.C. Fox!

When Isabella Bendel, an agent for the CIA, is promoted to the position of Chief Supervisor, she believes that her high risk, dangerous days are behind her and that she can raise her two children without the worry that her career could leave them without their mother. She soon discovers that her safety is far from secure when an attempt is made on her life. Things quickly go from bad to the unthinkable when Isabella learns that her children and her mother have been kidnapped by terrorists. Taking a final trip out into the field, Isabella Bendel must rely on her training and years of experience to overcome the numerous obstacles put in her way by foreign terrorists and double agents in a battle to save not only her family, but the United States as well.

Countdown America was a novel that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages so that I could see what would happen next. The action really grabbed me and I was often eager to see where it would go and what discoveries it would lead to. I really enjoyed the way the narrative of the novel was told from the viewpoints of multiple characters, which not only adds to the suspense of the novel, but allows the reader an opportunity to better understand the various characters and the motives behind their actions. I took great delight in the fact that the main character, Isabella, was a strong female, physically and mentally, who not only had to face many strong male foes, but did so with authority, not to mention the other strong female characters in the novel, such as Valerie and Suzanne. Countdown America is a very relevant novel when compared to many of the things that are occuring within, and outside of, the United States today and the effects of technology and cyberterrorism.

Countdown America by M.C. Fox is a novel that hooked me from the start and kept me guessing until the end. If you enjoy novels full of action, suspense and mystery pick up a copy of Countdown America.

Widow. Mother. CIA Agent. Isabella is a complicated BUT relatable main character and I admired her from page one. Isabella is a widowed mother who's family is abducted but still manages to keep it together and focus on getting her loved ones back. The story drew me in and had me emotionally invested within the first few chapters. While there is great detail about the inner workings of the CIA, the descriptions are intriguing and not so technical that the reader is lost. Not only did the maternal aspect of the novel appeal to me, but the global consequences of the plot did as well. Great read for fans of novels with strong female leads or political thrillers!

A CIA agent gets promoted to chief supervisor. Within just days she has 2 attempts on her life and her mother and kids were abducted. She has the entire CIA working to find her family. She soon finds out the Russians are involved and it’s a much more devious plot to ruin America. Great cast of characters, non stop action from beginning to end and a very compelling story line will keep you reading well into the wee hours of the morning.

This book by M C Fox was definitely a page turning thrill ride action adventure from the first page through the final conclusion. The activities with the main characters flowed smoothly and quickly towards the grand finale reveal by the author. The plot was interesting and riveting and attention holding as the reader attempts to solve the riddle before the author does. An action packed spy cyberterrorism book with a strong female lead? How can you go wrong with that? This book was written so well that you were immediately zoned into it and I'm so glad I read it.

Isabella Bendel is the Chief Supervisor in the CIA and is pretty much a badass. When she takes her normal jog in the morning, her intuition goes off and realizes someone's been following her. Isabella fights him off but not only does she realize someone is trying to kill her, but her family has been kidnapped too. Isabella gathers her trusty team to help her find out who is behind this, and who has her family.

Countdown America was literally like watching an action movie, but in your head. It was seriously good and I'm a little tired today since I stayed up too late reading it. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for more books by this author.

I fell in love with this fast paced, intense story that will keep you on your toes from start to finish!

In this story we have a strong, independent female character, Isabella Bendel. She is the Chief Supervisor of the CIA and came into this role because of her quick thinking, gut instincts, knowledge and strength. We also learn of the death of her husband due to cancer shortly after the birth of their twins. This gives an element of fragility to an otherwise incredibly strong woman.

We dive into quite the plot as Russian forces are determined to destroy America. There are so few people to trust in this story and at times we are left questioning why would any one want to cause Isabella harm? Why would they want to kidnap her family? What is her connection to the attack?

Once her family is kidnapped, Isabella goes into fierce battle mode and will do anything to get them back. With the amount of people she can trust on one hand, her world is constantly shattered as we turn the pages. Will she be able to save them? Will she stop the Russians?

This was one intense and full of suspense novel. I never saw the twists coming (which I love!). My heart was sore for our main character but wow is she one tough cookie. She never gave up hope and fought to the end. This is a definite must read novel – I could not put it down!

Thank you to Smith Publicity for sending me a copy of Countdown America by MC Fox for review.
Isabella is promoted to Chief Supervisor of the CIA and she hopes the new position keeps her closer to home. As a widow and now single mother to twins, she is hoping she can stay behind the desk and see her children more.
When she is attacked while jogging, she finds that isn’t the case and must fight for her life as well as save her family and find who’s behind it all.

I really liked the pace of this spy thriller. Isabella was a strong, fun character. The men in the novel really underestimate her strength and intelligence. I think that is easily could have been a male main character and been almost the same book and that for me is a great sign that the character is written well and her gender doesn’t matter much.

Washington, DC Park. CIA Agent Isabella Bendel, CIA Agent Vanessa Smith, CIA Agent Suzanne Laughlin, & CIA Agent Jason Fisher had taken out 3 assailants.
Senator Matthews was being held captive.
BOOM! An explosion knocked Jason backwards.
His hand was bloody mangled mess.

Senator Matthews (50+) wasn’t in the greatest of shape either.
His leg was poorly wrapped & probably infected.
3 hrs. later Sr. Special CIA Agent Howard Carson was glad they completed their mission.
Jason would not be returning to work anytime soon.
CIA Agent Jason (husband/father, analyst) had died of pancreatic cancer. Isabella/he had twins: Jimmy (son/brother), & Janie (daughter/sister).
10 yrs. later. CIA Agent Isabella Bendel (widow/mother) had been promoted to Chief Supervisor Cyberterrorism Unit.
She was CIA Agent John Beck’s supervisor, so their romantic relationship didn’t last long.
CIA Agent Vanessa Smith was on the team now.

What important information did Yuri (hacker) relay to Andre “Weasel” Dubrovsky?
Who was Viktor Gachev (Russian terrorist) tailing?
CIA Agent Bendel arrived at her home. It had been ransacked & Valerie Sutherland (63, Isabella’s mother/grand), Jimmy, & Janie had been abducted.
Jefferson Hotel. CIA Agent Bendel awoke when she felt someone had been in her room.
Detective Nelson (DCPD) informed her it might have been Igor Markov (aka James Hill).
American Embassy’s interrogation room. CIA Agent Laughlin had been interrogating Enrique Velazquez (arms dealer).

What did CIA Agent Missy Cartwright (hacker) reveal to CIA Agent Bendel, & CIA Agent Laughlin?
Will CIA Agent Bendel, & CIA Agent Laughlin catch the real mole & bring him/her to justice.
Will Valerie, Jimmy, & Janie be returned safely?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written CIA Operative thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great CIA Operative thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued? A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free author; HiddenGems; PDF; book

Once I was able to dedicate a couple of hours to this book, it was a fast and exciting read. The author kept things simple and kept them moving. The action was well-written. I would have appreciated a little more detail on the physical characteristics of the characters since I like to play a movie version in my head as I read books; however, the descriptions that were given were done so in a non-generic fashion...cleverly snuck into the narrative.

Some of the plot was a little predictable but anyone who has read and/or seen as many spy-related movies/books as I have would expect not to be surprised.

I am expecting a follow up based on the ending (and without giving anything away) and I would be disappointed if it doesn't happen. I believe the character can hold a few more books, perhaps even some flashbacks of other missions when the original team was together.

Overall, a fun read.

*I also feel the need to say that I won this book through a Goodreads Giveaway; however, I gave my honest opinion of the book as I do in all the reviews I give!

"Countdown America" by MC Fox – A Mother. A Warrior. A Nation on the Brink. 🇺🇸🔥

Some battles are fought on the front lines. Others are waged in the shadows. And then there are wars fought with nothing but a mother’s love and an iron will. 💔⚔️ In Countdown America, MC Fox delivers a pulse-pounding thriller where espionage collides with raw human resilience.

Isabella Bendel isn’t just a CIA Chief Supervisor—she’s a widow, a protector, and a mother whose world shatters when her family vanishes. 🕵️‍♀️💥 As cyber-terrorists threaten to bring the U.S. to its knees, Isabella must become more than an agent—she must become unstoppable. Every second counts. Every move could mean life or death. And failure? Not an option. ⏳🚨

With breathtaking twists, high-stakes action, and a heroine who embodies both strength and sacrifice, Countdown America isn’t just a thriller—it’s a testament to the power of love and resilience. ❤️‍🔥 If you crave adrenaline, intelligence, and heart, this book will grip you until the final page. 📖💣

If I have to choose a book following spy, cyberspace & action than nothing ever can stop me from reading it. One such novel is "Countdown America'', which I was introduced to, and it's an energy bar for those readers who are looking for some kind of movie like action, but wait there is a big twist in the story.

This book is much centric to events where all the possibilities to predict a novel ends. Mind-blowing is the term I would like to address here.

After reading the whole book, now I am in a perfect state to judge it. My remark about this spy novel is positive. I am pretty sure you would feel the same after completing it.

It’s a cybersecurity based story, and it has a phenomenal female lead character. Here she is Isabella Bendal. She is a vigilant, strong CIA agent. Another role she has assigned is being a mother of two kids.

A moment where it's a mix between balancing a life as a mother, and on the other hand fighting for national security is well placed & has given a strong women empowerment message.

She had lost her husband in the recent attack. He used to be a field agent in the CIA too. Being more prone to life threats, she was luckily promoted as chief supervisor in the cyber intelligence cell later, but it doesn’t matter as much more pre-planned attacks are waiting for her.

Read this mysterious political & web espionage story, enjoy greatest drama, and join Isabella’s mindful counteracts to safeguard the interests of the America. A joyful novel serving patriotism, action, emotions, empowerment, and a transparent life of an agent living two different lives on one soil.

I would recommend this book to everyone, calling it a hit of 2021 in this genre.

Author M.C. Fox has penned a captivating and intense thriller that hooks readers right from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the end. Featuring a incredibly fierce female lead and a well-crafted plot full of twists and turns, Countdown America is a must read for thriller fans.

CIA Agent Isabella Bendel is recently promoted to supervise the agency’s Cyberterrorism Unit when her children and mother are abducted from their home, setting the stage for a thrilling adventure ride through the world of hacking and espionage. In Isabella, M.C. Fox has created a protagonist who feels real enough to lift right off the pages, full of empathy, compassion, determination, and strength. Isabella trusts her gut over following protocol, with strong instincts and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get her family back. If she can avert a national security crisis in the process, all the better!

Simply put, this is a fantastic, fast-paced thriller. I have worked in cybersecurity for decades, and the recent cyberattacks against U.S. infrastructure and supply chains make this a very timely story.

Author M.C. Fox has developed Isabella Bendel as a character you want to root for in a story that’s all too real. The bad guys picked the wrong woman to mess with, especially when it comes to her family. Sometimes conflicted, given her personal interest in the outcome, but always resolute and sticking to her instincts, Isabella proves to be a very relatable, likable, strong yet vulnerable female lead.

Go ahead and trust your own instincts and buy this book! I’m hoping Agent Bendel returns for another thriller.
