Josie's 4.5 STAR Review

Enzo is a story that deals with past trauma, a trouble past, the IRA, a sexy hot alpha male and a pretty awesome line of characters. I really loved the main characters that Shyla introduces us to in this new series. They were complex with some really great depth. The side characters added humor and guidance to a very complicated relationship that had the promise of a forever. The author tells the story in alternate POV’s and while she gives readers a love story (with some really steamy scenes), we also get into some heavy issues such as the effects of being raised by a drug addicted mother and the consequences of that neglect. The memories and flashbacks had my crying and truly broke my heart.

Enzo is not only a successful tattoo artist with his own shop but he is also a very talented artist. Enzo does not believe in love, just one night stands followed with a lot of alcohol. The only constant in his life is his family and his best friend Aibhlinn. Enzo is troubled by his past. A past that has him feeling that he is not capable of loving the way his best friend Aibhlinn deserves. Enzo loves this woman, you can really tell this by his thoughts, his actions and his constant need to be near her. Enzo is not an easy man to love, he is guarded and can’t commit. He would rather have Aibhlinn in his life as his best friend than to have her find out his demons.

Aibhlinn has always loved and wanted Enzo. She knows that he is her soul mate. She has always been there for him and wants him to fight those demons, fight for a life with her. Let me say the pain and heartache she feels every time she witnesses Enzo’s hook ups, broke my heart, but she handled all of them with class and dignity. Aibhlinn is a very strong character. She is a fighter and when she finally had enough, she is stands up for herself. She is no longer willing to come second to Enzo, if he is not willing to fight and take a chance on their love.

Faced with his days without the love of his life, Enzo is force to make a decision. Fight his demons and fight for Aibhlinn, or live a life alone. There were some added twists to this story that really kept me interested. This story was faced pace which I loved because nothing felt dragged out. The storyline was really captivating and the added hot sex scenes were a bonus. Shayla Colt really did an amazing job in writing Enzo’ story. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I'm not exactly sure how old describe The Enzo, except that boy could be deep, in a manly way of course, “babe, we passed that road a long time ago. That line in the sand got obliterated when you came with my name on your lips and put your hand down my pants.” The scenes that I found were the sexiest were surprisingly not the sex scenes but when Ave gets worked up:
“I just got you, girl. I’m not trying to lose you so soon. I’m going to break that Irishman’s neck.”
“Not if I shoot the effer first,” she seethed.
“You’re so hot when you get murderous ,” Enzo teased, brushing his lips over hers.
I enjoyed this book, Enzo was a good man who had his demons but Ave was the light that kept him from going into the dark.

Enzo and Aibhlinn have been besties for a lifetime and both are now struggling with the possibilities of more between them. Enzo is fighting it hard as he is terrified that he will mess things up and push away one of the only people he cares for in his life. Aibhlinn can't wait around for him anymore and is considering moving on with her life so that she can find love. I so loved her. She is strong and sassy and perfect for Enzo. Once he gives in to their attraction they are scorching hot together. I so enjoyed their story.

I give Enzo 5 hearts!

This is the first book in a new series, Jinx Tattoos.

Jinx Tattoos is a tattoos shop run by Enzo and his two brothers (who I guess we will see in future books?) Enzo has multiple demons from his past that have damaged him for life, despite the love and support provided by his adoptive parents who adopted him at the age of eighteen. Now thrity five, these elements of the past have stunted him in time and unable to move past or move on with his best friend Aibhlinn. There is no other woman he trusts and adores more but he has always felt he is not good enough for her, in order to take their relationship to the next level and be more than friends.

Aibhlinn has been wanting to move things along with Enzo, the love of her life but wants him to take that step by fighting his demons and in turn fighting for their love. Both have always been there for each other but whilst Aibhlinn has had minimal relationships with other men, Enzo has always been the typical man whore, loving and leaving his one night hook ups. Things eventually come to a head and after a long awaited night of passion Aibhlinn gives Enzo an ultimatum that he then realises he must step out of his shields of pain and damage from the past in order to accept the love between him and Aibhlinn. It is whilst he is on this journey of recovery that he makes a beautiful discovery with Aibhlinn that both now have a decision to make that will change both their lives.

The pace of the book was better in the first half and it was moving towards a path I was expecting but then a huge curveball was thrown in the plot. A baby! But this was not the conventional way I would have expected a couple to be involved with a baby. In addition to this there were IRA threats and then the local MC became involved.

For me the second half lost its track and it felt like the plot was a bit backwards and forwards. I’m not saying this was a bad thing but had me scratching my head wondering where this was taking the story to. It also felt a little rushed coming to the conclusion and I would have preferred the things about Aibhlinn’s past were more in depth from the beginning of the book. I feel it would have balanced out the storyline a little better.

Overall though a sexy erotic romance of best friends taking second chances, added in with some hot inked guys and a dash of drama and danger from overseas. An interesting read and I shall look forward to the next book to see where that takes us. Four stars.

I have been reading any and all of Shyla Colt's books that I can get my hands on since I became a new and/or HUGE fan girl, so Enzo was no exception. I didn't even have to read the blurb, just dove in, and it blew me away. Enzo Jordan has carried "love hurts" scars his whole life. Neglected and abandoned by his drug addicted mother, he was put in the system at 10. He now has a successful tattoo shop, and no shortage of one night stands at 35. The problem is that he's been in love with his best friend for years, but won't do anything about it, because he's scared he will lose her for good if things get messed up. Sexy, Irish Aibhlinn Leahy has been in love with her bestie, Enzo, since she met him. She has put everything she has into the tortured soul, but when he chooses to walk away, she realizes it's time to move on. Will Enzo let her walk out of his life for good?

WOW! I absolutely LOVED this heart wrenching story. The character development is fantastic, with great secondaries that I can only hope have their own stories in the future. Enzo frustrated me a ton, but when all the layers were peeled back, I truly experienced his pain, not that I wasn't rooting for Aibhlinn. A intense emotionally charge, and well written storyline flowed very smoothly. There's just something amazing about Shyla Colt's talented writing style that never fails to hook me from the very first page, and nothing can make me put the book down until the very last page. Chemistry is off the charts HOT, FINALLY leading to hot flash worthy, panty melting sexy scene goodness. A few serious twists came out of left field to throat punch me, and some well placed humor that had me laughing hard. I cannot HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book enough so get it, got it, good!

I received an ARC for an honest review.
This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and my word, it will definitely not be the last. I am now a firm fan of her work. Hot, sexy bad boy Enzo runs a tattoo shop with his two brothers, and Aibhlinn is his best friend. Trouble is he has loved her for years, but has been too scared to make a move in case he loses her for good. Eventually he is given an ultimatum to get over his demons, and fight, or lose Aibhlinn. Will Enzo step up and let past trauma go? You really need to read this for yourself.
This is a fast paced read, and although it broke by heart throughout, it is a beautifully written story, and the plot flows seamlessly. Fantastic job Shyla and I cannot wait to read more of this series.

This is my first book by Shyla and I am now a fan. I love the whole friends to lovers thing and the fact that all this time they were both in love with the other and never wanted to say anything was great. I loved the fact that Aibhlinn was this spunky and feisty girl that never took crap from anyone.
Enzo was the bad boy that everybody wanted to tame and no one could. This was one of those books that you can't put down and the characters leave you wanting more. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Enzo and Aibhlinn have known each other for a very long time. Enzo is a stubborn, broken man. Aibhlinn loves that stubborn, broken man. These two have a unique kind of friendship/love that makes you want to punch Enzo for being so stubborn, and love him for being the man he is. Can these two figure out there is more then a lifelong friendship? Can they overcome the obstacles in their path? you must read and find out!!!

I loved Enzo and Aibhlinn's story. They are best friends, what better way than that to start a long term relationship. Even though they are best friends Enzo is reluctant to have a more intimate and romantic relationship because of his horrible upbringing. I enjoyed reading about Enzo's mental health journey, it was great to read about this stong alpha character being vulnerable. There was some action and violence in the book, but no real gore. There was a little humor as well. The twists to this story were fantastic! This story isn't filled with a bunch of bedroom scenes, there are a couple, its focus, I thought, was more about their relationship. The scenes between them get kinda steamy. If you are looking for a story filled with steamy scenes and not much about the characters, just a quick read to get your heartbrate up this is NOT that book. The book has more substance than steam. The author did a fantastic job drawing me into the story and into the characters lives, so much so, that I felt heartbreak and happiness for them and literally had a few tears of happiness for them by the end.

Enzo knows heart ac his came by way of his own mother when she abandoned him which sent him into foster care. He has risen above all of that and now has a successful tattoo shop and his choice of women, but he is secretly in love with his best friend. Aibhlinn is successful in her own right, and she is head over hills in love with Enzo as well. They skirt around their feelings but when things come to a head Enzo walks away leaving Aibhlinn no choice but to put her feelings aside for Enzo and move on with her life. When a baby is abandoned, it brings Enzo and Aibhlinn back together. Will this time around lead them to happiness? This touching story has so many twists and turns. It had me connecting with the characters and emphasizing with them.

Aibhlinn and Enzo both had troubled childhoods, but how they went on from those demons is what makes them perfect for each other.
Enzo was all about Ave but he couldn't commit because of the nightmares of his past. When he thought he might lose her he decides to do something about his past.
Ave is ready for a new romance when Enzo pushes her away for the last time, but when he see's her with someone new he realizes what he may lose.
When he is ready to profess his feelings they come upon an unexpected surprise that brings out a side of Enzo she didn't expect.
People aren't who they claim to be, friends are there when you need them and your brother's have your back.
It will be interesting to see more of each of these secondary characters.

I have never read anything by this author in the past, but I found that I truly did enjoy this story. Enzo is one of those lovably flawed characters that we just want to see get things right and be happy for once. Aibhlinn is the best friend who wants to be more.

I love a good "friends to lovers" romance, because I feel like all truly great loves in our lives either start as or become friends in addition to the romance aspect. This story was especially endearing when you factor in the hardships both Enzo and Ave had to deal with growing up. The best part for me is a part I won't talk about to avoid spoilers. But I will say, it made the whole book even more sweet and worked it's way into my heart.

This book was so perfect!! It had so many realistic ups and downs, twists and turns, and light with darkness. The characters were absolutely fabulous and so down to earth, and the world building was spot on. This is an amazing start to a new series.
The number and depth of emotions this book evoked from me made this book an intense read, but it was well worth it with the HEA ending. I look forward to reading the next installment in this series because of its anything like this book it will be another out of the park home run!! Please keep them coming.

I haven't read a lot of Shyla Colt's book, but what I have read, seems to be a mixed bag, which leaves me with a just ok review on Enzo. Enzo and Aibhlinn both have ugly pasts and that he seems to have the bigger issue moving past. Enzo was a little too angsty for me. He can have many, many one night stands, but commitment, no way. But when she has had enough and thinks about moving on, suddenly Enzo is ready to commit. I liked Aibhlinn a lot, but the title character was just OK. The pace was uneven, there was sizzle, drama, and overall just OK for me.

Enzo runs his own tattoo shop, he does one night stands but he doesnt do love, Aibhlinn is Enzos best friend and has held a torch for him forever, but Enzo keeps her at arms length when it comes to it. he doesnt want to let her in to see his past but she just wants to heal his demons. but when it becomes to much will Enzo put his heart on the line or lose his best friend and chance at love? well written emotional charge, engaging characters and well developed story.

This is a friends to lovers story where past pains and events have cause walls to be built around heart to block the pain, but only when life destroys the ones believe can the love that is meant to be grow.

Enzo and Aibhlinn have been best friends, although he has feelings for her, he will not give in. Aibhlinn love for Enzo has a limit, and when she finally gives fate has a way of make things right.

Good emotional story that was hard to put down.

Enzo leads a complicated life and doesn’t want has darkness to blend into Aibhlinn’s goodness. He can serious give a girl a good heartache when it comes to loving him. When they both find a baby that’s been abandoned, it brings out true feelings of how they want to continue on with their relationship. A good read to see how much they’ve grown as it jumps from the past and present time of their life.

I feel like certain pieces of the story and, even the dialogue, was missing. Started off as a good premise. One of the typical bad-boy-not-good-enough-for-the-girl trope that I usually buy into - but somehow this time around I just wasn't feeling it. Overall, what had a potential to be a really good read, was under delivered and just poorly written.

Enzo was an emotionally exhausting 5 star read.

Aibhlinn and Enzo have been best friends for years, they have a very deep connection. As they are getting older Aibhlinn is starting to have true feelings for Enzo and she is tired of hiding them. Enzo has been very determined that he doesn’t want a relationship.

Maybe he’s trying to tell me we are never going to happen and I need to move on without him.

When Aibhlinn shares with Enzo how she feels, she doesn’t get the answer she expected, it’s heartbreaking. As Aibhlinn tries to move forward, Enzo is battling with his inner demons. And really misses Aibhlinn.

Whoever said you never knew what you had until it was gone had been a very wise man indeed.

An unexpected bundle of joy will bring Enzo and Aibhlinn back together, when Enzo makes a proposal to Aibhlinn will she agree to it? And there is a very unexpected twist that I didn’t see coming and had me on the edge of my seat. This was such a great story of friends to lovers. These two were so good for each other. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

ARC PROVIDED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

I can't help but feel like I have read this book before. I think I might really have read it before but I just did not put up a review about it. This book talked about troubled past, clubs, and IRA's. I was anxious while I was reading the book because it felt like both characters are holding back. Aibhlinn, which is a really cool name by the way, was just waiting on Enzo and they are now 34 years old which is kind of a long time to wait on but very understandable for the female but for Enzo, him holding back kind of pissed me off at the same time confused with where his mind really is.

The cuteness and well, the anticipation of the characters to finally be together got me through. Just when I thought of skipping an angel was put on the spotlight and from there on everything even out for the characters and it has pushed them to finally see what they have before they actually lose it. I enjoyed the book for the most part. There were some parts that were annoying but all in all it entertained me. The author is not new to me and I'm happy that once again she satisfied me with her work.

(4.5 stars)

Shyla Colt has been a TBR author for me for a long time, and I finally was able to read one; and it was worth it!

Enzo had a horrible childhood, but got lucky later in his teens. Ave came from Ireland with her mom for a fresh start. They met as teens and both pretty much knew from the start that they were meant to be together. Enzo feels that everything will change and not for the better, where as Ave just needs him to take that leap of faith.... but years go by and still no change, just heartache for both. What happens when Ave calls Enzo out, and gives him that ultimatum, give them a chance or just forget it? What happens when a new guy shows up on the scene?

With a tattooed broken alpha, a spitfire comic author, a bit of violence, some sexy times, an MC club, and a lost baby this was a really good read, I wish there had been a bit more details in some of the scenes but that's just IMO. I give this 4.5 stars.

Neglected, abandoned by a heroin-addicted mother, and placed in foster care at ten, Enzo Jordan has learned one thing…love hurts. At thirty-five, he has a successful tattoo shop and his choice of women. The one-night stands are getting old, and the love he holds for his best friend, Aibhlinn is impossible to hide. When the attraction between them reaches a boiling point, he’s forced to choose between facing his fears and walking away.

Aibhlinn Leahy has been in love with her best friend for years. The Irish-born comic book artist has poured time, energy, and love into the wounded man. His choice to walk away breaks her heart but frees her to explore a new future.

Life is a cruel and amazing thing. An abandoned baby brings the two back together, and they’re forced to examine the love that has long existed between them. This is a story of pain, scars, and fear. We all have demons to battle. The real decision is who’s in control…us or them?

“Enzo came up behind her. ‘Aibhlinn. You’ve always been the one person who believed in me. I’m asking you to do that for just a little longer.’ You’re asking me for so much more. Once I let down my guard and embrace this, that’s it for me. Why can’t you understand that?”

5 jinxed stars!! Beautiful, gut wrenching and hot!

Enzo has never had an easy life. He grew up in foster care and he knows that love sucks. Now that he’s 35 years old, he owns his own tattoo shop and can have any woman he wants in the world. But he’s over the same thing, the same one night stand and well he’s in love with his best friend. Aibhlin has also been in love with Enzo forever, but neither will fess up to their feelings, because they are both scared of letting anyone in. Then one fateful night they find an abandoned baby and their whole world collapses.

What a painful and heartbreaking book. And while it is heartbreaking there are moments of complete and total hotness that will leave you gasping for air. I love a good best friend love story and this book is no exception. Definitely worth the time and read.

Life has been far from kind to Enzo, or at least the start of it was. Abandoned to the Foster care system by a mother that was ill equipped to deal with herself, let alone what it took to be a parent. The system left him jaded but far from broken, although his demons are never too far away, he lives with the effects of his childhood every day and no matter the support and love he has received from those around him, the influence those events have had still plague him, they resonate and while in some respects they have almost forged a will of steel and a determination to not only succeed but to do so his own way, in other respects they have seen him allow his happiness to almost pass him by.
But one thing he has made good on is that determination, owning and running Jinx tattoo shop with his brothers. He is own man but he is still alone. No woman has ever made it through those thick walls. No-one has ever been able get through to him, to breach the heart that he protects at all cost…well I say nobody but of course there has always been Aibhlinn, the woman that he simple adores but foolishly believes he doesn’t deserve.
Aishling is his best friend but they both secretly want more but are afraid that reaching out to get that more may cost them the slither of each other that they have at the moment, afraid to lose each other they are almost dancing around the situation. But can Enzo stop fighting the past and start fighting for the woman that just might be his future. I really hope so.
I loved that Aibhlinn was strong enough to wait it out for Enzo but I also understood her frustration. She stood on the side-lines and watched as he would make his way through women like a duck through water but he never touched her…until one night everything changed…but would it be for the better or would the aftermath be too much for them to take?
Aibhlinn was resolute in her demand that she was done waiting, the ball was well and truly in Enzo’s court, it was just a case of was he willing to play on and fight for his woman or was he ready to pick it up and head home alone?
Their path wasn’t easy and they have a momentous decision to make along the way that will shape not only them but their future, can they survive and thrive, well I had everything crossed for them all.
Overall I think I would say this was a great read, there were holes in some of the character’s pasts that I would have liked filled in a little the gaps had me distracted as I made up my own scenario and believe me left to my own devices my imagination can be lethal.
I am looking forward to the next in the series as I think the brothers will have a tale or two to tell. A well written story that covered all the bases and did so with absolute aplomb. Just enough angst and drama and a whole heap of heat!

This romance looked soo good with the blurb – I love reading about unrequited love + the fact that I was in a total mood for an angst filled romance, this one (by the blurb) was the perfect choice!

Enzo Jordan is a playboy – there is no two ways about it; but from the start there was always the fact mentioned that he has been in love with his best friend, since he understood what the word “Love” means; but his past and his experiences have taught him quite well that Love isn’t exactly the most stable world.

And, no. I did not like the man that he was at the start of the book – he is a prick and he doesn’t even deserve the kind of loyalty and trust that his best friend shows towards him. But he shows resilience – and by the end of the book, he had my respect, if not my affections.

Aibhlinn Leahy,/b> is the Woman to Enzo’s Man – she is his best friend and confidant, but never his lover and partner – the last two being the only way she wants to be connected with Enzo in her lifetime.

I had quite the mixed emotions towards Aibhlinn – she is this strong independent woman, and yet she has been led on by Enzo almost all her life – and even after succumbing to their passion, it was Enzo who acted as the rational human being?

This book flew – and sometimes not in a really good way! There were soo many plot twists happening that it took a while to acclimate yourself to the pace of the book. Just when I thought had the hang of it – there would be another plot twist thrown into the mix. The result was that I never got a chance to connect to the MC’s and the secondary characters the way I would have like to!

But if this book had the appropriate length to the sort of plot it had – I would have been in love with it!! Still, I am looking forward to the next book in the series!
