THIRST, a new standalone novel from New York Times bestselling author, Deborah Bladon.

Do you see what I see? I see my half-naked neighbor staring at me whenever he gets a chance.
When I moved into this apartment, I knew I'd get used to the noisy tenant across the hall, the broken air conditioner, and the squeaky floors. I didn't think I'd grow accustomed to the lustful stares of the gorgeous man who lives in the building next to mine.
He watches me when dusk falls with an intense hunger in his eyes I've never seen before.
I sense his gaze trailing over every inch of my skin as I strip slowly, just for him.
It’s innocent until I finally get the chance to pitch my business idea to a trio of private investors. That’s when I realize that the man who stands at his window every night staring at me is one of the three people who hold the future of my start-up in their hands.
Rocco Jones has seen my body, and now he wants to touch it. I want my business to succeed, and I want him, but is it possible for me to have both?

*Author's Note: Although a few characters from my past books make appearances in THIRST, it's not necessary to read any of my other books to enjoy this sinfully sexy standalone romance.

Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.

She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.

Wow. This was boring. The flirting between Dexie and Rocco was minimal and it wasn’t even really flirting. They were both spying on one another. (For 4 seconds) The story mainly revolves around Dexie getting money from an investment group to buy into her handbag idea. Still don’t know how she makes all these intricate purses and totes, but she has no connection to a factory with actual equipment. ? The second half of the story, Rocco’s side, revolves around him talking to his friends and eating his grandmother’s pasta everyday. Who eats pasta everyday?

It took so long to get anywhere. By 20% I was already tuning out.
I made it to 50% just to give the story the benefit of the doubt but no such luck. I DNF this book at 50% very quickly. I don’t even care about the sex scenes or seeing where the romance will go.

I never connected with the characters. Their main attributes were loving to eat, and desire to make more money.

I tried. I really did, but... Another of my Sunday reads lands on a DNF shelf. 40% and I just can't no more.

Except of a little show and tell through windows , I haven't felt any connection between Rocco and Dexie and their whole interaction was quite boring.

Dexie spent more time at her friend Sophie's apartment then her one. This sentence sound so plain and tasteless that I am just uninterested writing it, but that's how I felt reading the story.

I understand I might sound harsh and author does not deserve my frustration but I am a bit disappointed with this over slow burn romance I chose as my companion today.

Goodbye book, I'm putting you away, so you can be covered in dust. I'm sorry Deborah- it's just me being unsatisfied Bitch.

“I assume you’re single,” Trisha continues. “You’re not wearing a ring.”
I look down at my bare hands. “I’m still looking for Mr. Right.”
“Maybe he’s waiting for you at Calevetti’s,”

Spoiler alert: he was… Double spoiler: she didn’t went there…

Thirst is a story about how destiny will plot twist and turns in your life until you finally meet “The One”.

“I once bought into the idea that fashion has to follow a prescribed path, but those days are over. My style is as unique as I am and I like it that way.”

The best way to describe Dexie (our heroine) is that she is unique. Unique in style, in the way that she carries herself,… even her name. She’s herself unapologetic. Actually all the heroines in this series are that way and I love it.

“I can’t believe she remembered my name.”
“I can.” I lock eyes with her. “You’re unforgettable.”

Dexie works in a marketing department for a cosmetic company. It’s not her endgame, but she’s there to learn and to became better at promoting brands.
Her dream is to have her own brand. She loves to make handmade bags, and one day hopes to do it full time.
It’s not an easy dream to accomplish, but she’s not giving up.

“This is for you.” My grandmother drops the ten dollar bill on the table next to my glass of water.
As I sit back down, I look into her blue eyes. They’re the same shade as mine. “You’re paying me to eat here now? Since when?”
She ruffles my hair. “You need a haircut.”

Rocco Calvetti, is a retired professional poker player, that now, puts his millions to good use (and makes more millions) by investing in other people’s projects.
He’s also Dexie next door neighbor (hot neighbor).

“The buildings in this city are so close together you can practically touch your neighbors,”

Rocco is a troubled soul. Because of what happened in is life and to his family he is reticent to believe that he deserves love. Actually, he doesn’t want to love, period.
But the truth is that he fell head over heals for Dexie, since the first time he saw her.

“I follow her because this is my destiny. This woman is my every tomorrow.”

This book gave me The Shark Tank mixed with voyeurism vibes.
It is a little creepy, if you think about it, that they’re looking into each other’s apartment like that. Specially him, because he could see everything.
In the book is cute and they fall in love, but, in real life this would be so creepy… I’d have bought curtains real fast!

2.5 -

I loved both characters, dexie was strong and independent where as Rocco was hardworking and passionate. but I felt as though this book was kind of insta lovey.
Kind of a longer version on a Jessa Kane book (nothing bad with her books I love them)

At first it started off strongish but around 40% into the book, I felt as though it was mainly sex than honestly getting to know each other, the female mc didn't know the male Mc's mums name, and she was already in love with him the second time they did the deed.

I do think I am going to read the rest of the series, it was fast paced and I didn't get bored, dexie starting a handbag business was interesting and I loved the "neighbour" storyline.

I'm a big fan of Deborah's work, and Thirst did not disappoint. It was sweet and sexy and so hot! I absolutely loved the characters. Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved how our hero just wanted Dexie to have everything she desired out of life and business. He laid his heart on the line for her and was willing to follow her anywhere. But I have to say that Marti was my favorite supporting character. The love and loyalty and wisdom she carries is like none other.

0/10. i am not exaggerating when i say this is the worst book i have ever read. no storyline. no chemistry. just two weird ass peeping toms staring at each other for 50% of the book.

the author also used the word “mewl” TWICE during spicy scenes (which were lackluster and felt forced) which causes me to despise this book even more. i need to know why (out of all the words in the english language) she decided to use MEWL!!!!!!!!!!

also, can we talk about the random fucking cameo from the FMC’s neighbor? it didn’t make any fucking sense.

Rocco & Dexie’s Forbidden Romance Is A Sweet Story That Captures You From The Beginning! Don’t Forget To Download The Free Thirst Novella Via The Link At The Back Of The Book.

Dexie Walsh, twenty-seven, is not afraid of hard work. She works in marketing at Matiz Cosmetics, where she knows there are invaluable lessons to learn. She also works part-time for her friend Sophia Wolf, who has her own clothing line. Dexie has just moved into a cheaper apartment in the hopes of keeping her dream alive. She wants to take her part-time purse design business into a full-time business. Dexie is a bit of an artist. She loves bold colors and refuses to follow rules. Her custom-designed pursues reflect her personality. Each purse gets her unique spin on style and special attention to detail.

Dexie has run her purse design business from her home during every spare hour she can find. Most of her customers come by word of mouth, and she is doing well, but she is stuck. Taking it to the next step requires a capital investment, something she does not have. If she is serious about making her dream into a reality, she must look for a private investor.

Rocco Jones, thirty-five, may be rolling in the dough these days, but it was not always that way. He has led an interesting life doing a wide range of things – from bartending and working in a fish market a decade ago to becoming a famed world champion poker player for two consecutive years. He took his savings and proved his business savvy as well. He invests in promising startups and helps to ensure their success. He made a fortune a few years ago on a gaming app that is still paying off in spades.

Despite all the success, however, Rocco remains grounded. He still lives close to midtown Manhattan, in the same apartment he moved into twelve years ago. He has never outgrown his family, either. His mom died when he was just six, but his maternal grandmother stepped in and helped out his struggling father. He adores his grandmother, whom he regularly visits. She owns and runs Calvetti’s, an Italian restaurant known for its good food as well as its beloved owner, Martina Calvetti. Rocco has two younger brothers. Nash, thirty-three, owns an ad agency. Luke, twenty-nine, is a fireman. Rocco is close to his cousin Gina, too. He also gained a stepmother and stepsister when his father eventually remarried. Rocco and his father are close, but they have endured their fair share of heartache, and as the eldest, Rocco has shouldered a great deal of the burden.

When Dexie moves into her new apartment, she cannot help but notice the tall, dark, and handsome man that lives in the apartment across the street from her. They begin to flirt from afar, which seems both forbidden and safe. Flirting with a stranger may be dangerous, but until they actually meet it is harmless.

When Rocco comes across the beautiful blond with the pink-streaked hair, he can hardly believe his luck. He would recognize his neighbor anywhere since she has come to star in his fantasies. He does not have an issue with mixing a little business with pleasure. It is Dexie who has the misgivings. The two begin their professional lives with one another with an underlying tension that cannot be stifled, no matter how much Dexie might wish it. The two struggle to find balance between personal and professional as they get to know one another. They eventually find a happy ending.

Don’t forget to download the free Thirst novella via the link at the back of the book.

This Manhattan-based story is an easy read with a feel-good ending. By the time these two meet, the tension is already intense. They try to fool themselves, but their relationship very quickly grows deep. Their story is very much about family. This book introduces Rocco’s family – and the Calvetti’s on his mother’s side. There is a bit of gratuitous drama later in the story that could easily be avoided, but this is otherwise a good read that flows nicely.

Rocco and Dexie’s forbidden romance is a sweet story that captures you from the beginning. It is nicely written. The plot is fairly simple. Rocco’s character is wonderfully developed. Dexie’s background is not developed in the same depth, but it works. The story is told in first person. The POV alternates between Rocco and Dexie. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

Without realizing I had bought the second book of this series thinking it was a stand-alone, once I read the words “series” on the back of the book, I immediately stood up and ordered the rest of the series. I knew this would be NA, and one can never have too many NA books, they are the best simple love tales that just help you recover from a big fantasy series or a serious thriller that sends chills to your skin, and ‘Thirst’ was exactly that for me. Its simple tone but managing to make it classy made me realize I enjoy this kind more than just a drama-filled one with lots of nasty sex scenes, I’m okay with this content as well.
NO OVER-THE-TOP DRAMA.
I kinda was expecting them to have a big obstacle lacking communication or with a dramatic accident, or maybe a third person joining to try separating their love/lust over each other… But we never got that and surprisingly for myself, after I finished reading the last chapter before the epilogue I knew I didn’t care at all. I wouldn’t have wanted this tale any other way, somehow if it had had my guilty pleasure characteristics it would have been cheesy or tacky, or both and this was just fine as it was.
CUTE AND SPARKING FEMALE INDEPENDENCE.
I loved every moment we were discussing Dexie’s business and her passion for it without making it a huge problem for their relationship or something like that, nope. She was in charge of her professional destiny and wasn’t given anything for free, she learned and worked hard to achieve her current success, and I’m glad for her. It was also enjoyable that Rocco wasn’t just playing with her investor needs to get her to like him more, no, he was clearly interested in her business and wanted the best for her, even if that would separate them or wouldn’t include him as her investor in the end.

Rocco and Dex...

This is my 2nd time reading this book; I save re-reads for my favorite authors & stories.

Deborah Bladon has never written a book that I haven't loved. Her stories always captivate and suck me into the world she has created.

Their story starts with the sexiest case of "spying on your neighbor". Thank goodness Dexie didn't want to bother the Super to put up blinds in her apartment!

Dexie...
Rocco says it best when he says she is both "soft and strong". She isn't always 100% sure of herself but, in the end, she takes charge of what she wants for her life and no one can tell her any differently.

Rocco...
Everyone's heart had to give a big romantic sigh over a peeled, cut up apple, 6 green grapes and half a toasted bagel. That is what he noticed (remember that neighbor spying?!) Dex normally made herself for breakfast and, after the 1st night she stayed with him, he rushed to the store to grab for her and prepare for her. Peeling apples is tedious! Anyone taking the time to notice AND does that (especially unasked) always gets 5 🔥 in my book! Not only he is thoughtful, but he is sexy as hell and has a heart of gold. He is gun-shy when it comes to protecting his heart, for good reason. In the end, I am glad that they both listened to their hearts and put their insecurities aside.

The quick and dirty: A quick and easy contemporary romance read with a cute premise and HEA. I read it in one sitting.

Dexie and Rocco are in neighboring buildings and develop a relationship through their view of each other's apartments. Little does Dexie know, Rocco is also one of the angel investors she'll be pitching her handbag business to. In addition to navigating the complexities of such a relationship, there are also abandonment issues that need to be tackled. They'll need to get past them in order to get to their happily ever after. Bonus for all the DB fans out there: you'll get to see Sophia again (quite a bit actually!) and there's mention of Ivy too!

Overall: 4/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

A romantic, light-hearted read

At first glance, the cover and description of Thirst give the impression that this is a very sexy, dirty book. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it’s more romantic than sexual and has a great light, fun tone. The story follows Dexie, a handbag designer who moves into a new apartment and discovers that her neighbor is a sexy guy who seems to enjoy watching her in the window as she does him. They start a flirtation through their windows and then soon discover that they have more in common than they expect. The book follows what happens after you meet the sexy stranger who can see into your whole life.

It’s my first time reading a book by this author but it won’t be my last. The story moved quickly and the hero was very likeable. I only wish that the romance was a little more developed - that the two delved a little deeper with each other. But other than that, the book was great.

Can we start by saying.. Holy Hotness! Look at that cover. If Rocco Jones was my neighbor I would definitely go over and introduce myself. This was another beautifully crafted story about two strangers who cross paths when they notice each other in their window facing apartments that are opposite one another.

Dexie wants nothing more than to design her own custom made handbags, and Rocco may just be her saving grace as an investor. However, once feelings become involved, lines get blurred between their blossoming personal relationship and tentative business relationship. Their romance was beautiful to witness and I absolutely adored their hot chemistry. I recieved an ARC and this is my honest review.

Rocco Jones is past poker champion now he is an investor. He has made an incredible living helping to make his dreams come true.
Rocco and Dexie are neighbors living in apartments that have Windows facing each other, that's how these two meet until Dexie makes the pitch of her career to said sexy neighbor.

NOT a mafia book but still entertaining.

I apologize for the stereotype but the series name (Calvettis of New York) made me think that this was a mafia book and it was recommended on the page of a mafia book. Anyway, not a mafia book.

Written in dual first person POV. Solid characters, good amount of sexy times and a decent plot. No real mystery about Rocco’s past even though the author tries really hard to make him mysterious. The book is pretty basic and there are no real surprises or action. Low angst with a HEA. 3.5 stars rounded up because the cover is awesome.

FYI, characters from this author’s other books are mentioned but I haven’t read any of them (that I know of), so this book can be read as a standalone.

Outstanding! There’s something hypnotic about Thirst. It has drama, humor, romance and deliciously intriguing sexy time scenes.

Dexie and Rocco feel like my friends and I love how seamlessly other book characters appear in Thirst, yet it’s written as a complete standalone. Deborah’s books have you physically drawn in with her crafty words and cleverly written descriptive writing.

It’s crazy but I’ve been a huge fan of Deborah Bladon’s for over 4 years. I recommend this book wholeheartedly. And if you’ve never read her work...start at the beginning. It’s a wonderful journey.

Dexie and Rocco

Game Over

This was a sexy read that starts off as a thrilling game of - I’ll show you mine if you show me yours - and ends up as so much more.

Rocco is a rich investor who is commitment shy for reasons you might not think of. Dexie is a marketing associate by day and aspiring handbag designer by night. She’s looking to take her dream to the next level. When she scores an investors meeting imagine her surprise when in walks in her hot sexy neighbor.

This was fun, sexy, and I tore through every page.

I’m very excited for Compass next!

I love Deborah’s stories, I have every single one! I anticipate every single release and read them all in 1 day!!! I’ve read all of them and have fallen in love with all the characters. I love that all the characters are intertwined in some way. This is a hot sexy story of two neighbours who commence their relationship as two strangers enjoying a little voyeuristic peeks of each other through their apartment windows. I will show you mine if you show me yours!! Fun, erotic and passionate.
Deborah's writing is witty, emotional, and truly romantic!

Dexie can see her neighbor in his apartment across from hers. That means he can see her also. They start some harmless window flirting which is starting to escalate. But when she goes sealing investors for her custom handbags she isn’t expecting to come face to face with her hot neighbor. Rocco is always looking for his next investment and he is going to invest more than money with Dexie. He is captivated by her and he wants to help her grow her business and their relationship. It’s another great story!

I would have to give this book a 4 out of 5-star rating. I read this book in one day! That is a huge accomplishment for me these days. I loved this book, a lot. This I believe is the second Deborah Bladon book that I have read. She is an amazing writer! I devoured this book in one sitting of about 3 hours. I fell in love with Rocco Jones the male main character. He was sexy, smart, cocky, and could be sweet to his family and Dexie the female main character. Dexie was independent, strong, and fierce and I loved that about her. I definitely recommend this book.

This author was recommended on a group, and I really enjoyed this book. The writing style is not my favourite, but this story carried me through.

I was waiting for some dark secret that was keeping Rocco from full committing to Dexie, but while it wasn't dark, it was still heart wrenching.

Dexie also know what she wants, hasn't been too hurt to want to find love, and thankfully, is just what Rocco needs.

Love their story of meeting through the window. The blurb made me think more would happen between them before they met, but it was better that it hadn't.

Thirst

Dexie is busy trying to get her one of a kind purse business off and going, she needs an investor or backer. Thru a chance of a contact she is put in touch with some backers, now just to get a chance. Rocco, is a neighbor of Dexie, just doesn't know her name, but wants to know more. You will laugh, lust, have some seriously intense moments, yet have some really surprisingly exciting moments, enlightening, and full of love❤️. Beautiful story, loved it

Hunger and Thirst! Wow, I definitely had an appetite for this one. I loved the story line, and both Dexie and Rocco were so very real to me. Many times, fictional characters don't come across as "real" people, but these two definitely did. I never wanted to live in the city, but d@mn, this story makes me want to move down down and scan the windows of the neighboring rentals for fun! One of Blandon's very best in my book!

Thirsty for More!

I always enjoy starting a new book by Ms. Bladon as I know I'll reading it & some of her characters from previous books will be included. The main characters in this one are Rocco & Dexie who meet as they are watching each other from their apartment windows. Rocco has a large network of friends & family & Dexie is slowly drawn into his circle. No spoilers here but if you're a fan of the Author you'll enjoy this book. Looking forward to the follow up novella!

Deborah knocked another one out of the park with Rocco and Dexie. These two are such an amazing duo. I wasn’t sure they would be such a great match but once again deb proves her skills.

Rocco is a generous, compassionate, determined man. He loves his family and fears loss. Dexie is a passionate, determined and dedicated woman. She loves her friends, family and her art. I love them both
