The prolific artist Aideen Barry presents her body of work 'Strange Terrain' with a curatorial introduction (Reisman), a short story by Robert Walser, and a response by Charlotta Kotik.

All the texts are terrific, but it is Barry's playful modernisation of the 19th Century author Lillias Campbell-Davidson that provides the most enjoyable and interesting text in the book. Campbell-Davidson wrote texts on how women can travel independently, and Barry distorts her writing into new artworks (2014) about train lines, transport and communication. The images are well printed and reflective of the artist's work; snapshot's of Barry's funny, satirical, observational and critical videos and stills. It is not necessary to have seen the exhibition to enjoy this book immensely.

As an object, the book is among the nicest art books I have read. Well printed, wonderfully designed, and a joy to flick through or sit and read. It even comes with a flip-book animation, a typical touch of the artist's flair.
