From International Bestselling author Katie Graykowski comes a tale of love, laughter, football, and a fake fiancé.
Chloe Caldwell has it all. She’s a psychologist with a practice she loves, an award-winning relationship blog and podcast, a brand-new book coming out, and a fake fiancé. The world is dying to meet the man who captured the relationship expert’s heart. And so is Chloe. She told a little white lie to avoid dating a coworker, and now she needs to find someone to pose as her fiancé.
Enter Pierce Rogan, tight end for the Lone Stars football team. He’s charming, talented, and has the world at his feet. As a favor to a friend, he agrees to a blind date with Chloe.
He picks Chloe up … and the earth doesn’t move and sparks don’t fly. Cupid seems to have taken the night off. They don’t hate each other, but they don’t exactly like each other either. As he’s taking her home early, Pierce accidentally runs over her foot, and they end up in the emergency room.
To help him save face, Chloe takes the blame for the accident. But she isn’t his normal supermodel type, so people assume she’s his sister.
Pierce has never had anyone take up for him. Damn if he doesn’t start to see Chloe in a new light—and it’s not as a sister.
She tells him about her fiancé issue, and he jumps in to help. Only, the entire world now thinks Chloe is his sister. He’s forced to set her up with his best friend and watch as his friend fawns over the woman he now has feelings for.
Can he convince Chloe that he wants to be more than just friends? Or will he have to watch the woman he loves fall in love with another man?
As always with a Katie Graykowski book, I enjoyed it immensely. I would have liked a bit more at the end though. A bit more follow through on how the fall out actually effected Chloe’s job. Otherwise, a quick, delightful read.
I love the Lone Stars series and have been reading it since the second book was released. This is a great addition to the series. My only issue with it is that it wasn’t long enough. I feel like the relationship could have been developed and explored further. This was more like an extra long novella for me. Apart from that the main and secondary characters were really likeable (I can’t wait for the next book in this series) and if you are after a funny (fairly) drama free romance with a little bit of football (not much) then you should give this book a go. This book was gifted to me in exchange for a completely honest review.
The blurb drew me in because uhm...both don't hate each other and don't really like each other either when they meet the first time? Sounded interesting enough for me. There was that point where Pierce suddenly showed interest in Chloe after he realized that she wanted to take the blame for him without wanting anything in return. And that sudden turn was so not believable. After that, it was basically insta-love for the H, Pierce. The h still had her doubts about the sudden switch and that was good. Of course that progressed into interest and love later but that development was definitely more gradual than the insta-love the H felt. The book was just too short and thus, their relationship had no real chance to grow.
This is a quick sweet read about not judging a book by its cover and maybe having open communication. Chloe is the person behind the sage advice column. And through a series of miscommunications her publisher seems to think that she has a fiance. Pierce on the other hand hates the sage advice columnist in fact she's the reason his previous fiance dumped him! They are set up on a blind date by none other than our Sweet Louise! Seriously that lady is amazing and I'm so glad that she plays such a pivotal role in this book. These two don't make the best first impression on each other and through a series of unfortunate mishaps end up getting stuck together. Luckily once they get past their first impressions they're able to see how amazing the other one is. Pierce decides to help his new friend out by finding her a fake fiance (one she doesn't need to kill off). A bit of a fun ensues with a make over in which we meet old Lone Stars characters as well as some new (maybe yhe next hero in the serise?) In the end the lack of communication causes some heartbreak but luckily they're able to overcome.
This is book fits so well with this series but it can be read as a completely stand alone. We also get a bit of insight into maybe a new series involving the coaches sons and a soccer team? Fingers crossed that that happens! Only downside is that the book was on the short side. Everything seems to happen in the span of a week or two. In the end we are definitely left wanting more from these two characters. And of course more Sweet Louise!
I really enjoyed this book. I have been looking forward to the next Lone Star book and was so excited to get a chance to read it early. I receieved a free copy and here is my honest reveiw.
This is a unique story with real characters. Chloe Caldwell needs a fake fiance. She gets set up with Pierce Rogan right end for the Lone Stars football team. He goes out on a blind date with Chloe for a friend. He picks her up for the date and sparks dont fly.
They both dont like each other. He drops her off early after the date and accidentally runs over her foot. She takes the blame so he doesnt get bad press. People assume she is his sister since she isnt his normal supermodel type girl.
No one has ever helped Peirce out without expecting something in return. He finds out about her needing a fake fiance and volunteers but since everyone thinks she his sister he has to set her up with best friend. He has feelings for Chloe so it is hard for him to watch her with his friend.
Can he win Chloe over or will he have to watch her be with his best friend?
This was a great book once I started reading it I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I wanted to find out what happend. You should really check out this book and series. I loved the storyline and the characters and it's nice to read something different that isnt a story line I have read before.
It was great to be back in Austin with these great characters. Katie Graykowski has done it yet again with this great series. Not only is it a great romance story of Chloe and Pierce but the friendships between the other characters are superb and make a heartfelt read all on their own. I wish I had a Sweet Louise in my life.
I love this book, how they had both seemingly wrote each other off as possible love matches and then through a new and growing friendship they discover how they really feel. I loved how Noah (as did everyone else) saw how they felt and there was no animosity between him and Pierce, in fact Noah’s instant reaction to Lucy was adorable, I really hope his story is next.
I love the well rounded characters that Graykowski writes, they are the best of humans and people you wish you could surround yourself with. This adds even more to a fantastic and enjoyable read.
The football stars have gotten a lot more famous in this book--everywhere he goes, someone recognizes him and cares about his life. (It usually just happened once in the previous books.)
I don't know. The setup was cute but there was just too much and it went too fast. The characters had a "I love you" resolution on the last page but there was no explanation of how their overall situation resolved (only the hint that he was intending to continue controlling her food intake.) The addition of a fake fiance other than Pierce made very little sense.. it's the simplest thing in the world to laugh and say, "she's not my sister.. I don't know why they were all saying that. She's my fiance." Start to finish, the action in this book covered about three days, and by the end they went from complete disinterest to SUPER in love.
I honestly love Katie’s books. I’ve loved this whole series. And although I was captivated through this book and I loved the plot, it just felt so rushed to me. There was really no true ending. She left so many things unanswered, like his ex-fiancé calling and wanting him back out of the blue, although she’s married? What happened with her career? Her books? Did she clear her name? What happened with that reporter or the paparazzi outside her house? Her life basically went to shit but her love life turned out for the better so who cares about the rest?! I would have liked more from this book, especially after the five amazing books before this ones. Feels like she couldn’t be bothered with this one unfortunately.
This is another story line that has me laughing throughout. Here is a woman who has been writing books about relationships. Only thing is she doesn't have a boyfriend to. She asked Sweet Louise for help. She sets her up on a blind date with one of the football players. Let's watch comic relief start. After a bad night ending up in the DR with a broken foot things go upside down. Now the date, Pierce, doesn't want another man to help her. But social media has stated she is his sister. And so the story gets interesting. Can he get her to believe that he wants her for more than friendship? Will the media ever believe that they are not related?
Insta-love, fake-dating trope between an NFL star and a relationship advice columnist who needs a fake-fiance for her book launch.
The MCs don't instantly click when they are set up on a blind date, but it doesn't take long before the hero Pierce (feeling guilty for accidentally injuring the heroine's foot) is temporarily moving in with Chloe (ostensibly to help her manage), and falling in love over omelettes and GOT re-runs.
I enjoyed this for what is was...a fun, easy read with a sweet HEA.
Sweet Louise makes a cameo, and she remains my favourite character of the whole series.
This book does not contain descriptive love scenes.
Chloe is a clinical psychologist who also writes an advice column. Pierce is a hunky football player who just was dumped by his finance because of advice in that column. It's a match made in heaven although neither of them know it. As usual Ms Graykowski has snappy dialogue and a wicked sense of humor. All the Lone Star books are easy to read and well worth it. This can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the entire series since there are some characters that continue throughout the series.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. First I love this series ( The Lone Stars) now Chloe and Pierce were an odd pairing but what do you expect when sweet Louise gets involved. I found the book to be funny and romantic. I actually loved Chloe she was very self assured in herself. Pierce at first gave me the impression dumb jock but he is so much more especially with Chloe. I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.
This author has mastered the short and sweet HEA. Sometimes though, it is too short. This one needed a little more. The HEA needed more time and words to make it feel complete
This is an experienced author, with many popular books. Thus, I do not expect to find the grammatical errors I found in this one. You wring a person's neck, not ring it. When you borrow something, it is on loan not on lone.
I don't know how I feel about this book. Chloe irritated a lot, always doubting him when she had no reasons too. And I hate when secondary characters think they have a say in a relationship, it pisses me off, in this case there's trying to help and there's inserting yourself in the middle, I hate that. The only mistake Pierce made was telling that stuff on TV, but come on he didn't anything really that bad, it was the news who twisted what he said
Excellent book! What a great addition to this series! I absolutely love Chloe’s character in this book. Best line so far is: Control, like perfection, is an illusion. That line is perfection with just 6 words! I love that he knows how to cook and she is looking for her lost box of pop-tarts! Really fun read and great complex characters!
This story had so much potential, but overall fell short for me. The first part of this book was exceptional and I enjoyed the humor and feelings that the characters shared. The second half of this story is where it fell short. The author hurried through to the end and I felt cheated out of the HEA. Definitely not one of my favorite books by this author.
I have read all of the Lone Stars books and I want more... Some made me cry, and laugh. Katie's imagination is amazing. I feel like I know these characters and definitely want to be their friends. My only regret is that the book ends. I want to now more and read more about each character. Great reads.
Really lined Chloe and her whacky sense of humour and again wish pierce had been less juvenile. However enjoyed their story, a bit of an abrupt ending where there’s no feedback as to her career. Do like this author but need to see a but more grown up men for these strong women.
Katie has done it again, she made Chloe and Pierce so real, that they made me laugh, and sigh, and shake my head, but as always in the end, there was a big smile on my face. I Love her Lone Star books, and I hope there will be another soon. A must read.
Normally I don't like series that goes beyond four books but I hope this series never ends! I think I've only read one other series that made me laugh out loud and fight back the years like this one.
Chloe needs a fake fiance to show off to her book publishers. Sweet Louise sets her up, but then her runs over her foot with his car and it doesn't stop there.
Chloe is fun to read, but I had a hard time buying her predicament - social anxiety is real but I've read this affliction too many times.
Not that I would ever condone lying, but everyone has been caught telling a little fib! Unfortunately this one gets blown way out of proportion..... However it has some wonderful consequences 😉😍
The author did a great job of creating funny, strong, loving and entertaining characters. I really liked the pace of the book it moved well. I enjoyed the banter between all of the characters. It really is a cute and funny love story!
Chloe Caldwell needs a fake fiancé. A friend sets her up with two pro football players. One of them breaks her foot in a freak accident while the other fakes their relationship. This story has a HEA ending. Three stars for the “F”word being used quite often.
This is a great series! This was the best book of all! I laughed with Pierce and Chloe! Their relationship was fun and wonderful. I hope to go d out more about them in the next book!
I really enjoyed the book but it ended too abruptly! We didn’t know what happened to her job, whether her book LOVE was still released, whether she still worked with the children/hospital. Very disappointing. Should have at least had him doing an TV interview taking the blame .
I like the book it was a short fun read. Not as long as as well fleshed out as Place Your Betts the Marilyn series which is I think the best. But a nice Saturday or rainy-day afternoon read.
