Devil's Playground #2

The Devil's Advocate

Rate this book
This is the final book in the two-book duet. Book one must be read first.
One man thinks I'm a saint.
The other thinks I'm a sinner.
One man lives in the public eye.
The other lurks in the shadows.
One man wants to use me for his own needs.
The other wants to use me for his revenge.

One man will get what's coming to him.
The other will get what he deserves.

They told me good girls get rewarded.
But I've been bad. Very bad.

I made a deal with The Devil...and I liked it.

Warning: Long rant ahead. I repeat, long rant with maybe some spoilers. I should stop writing reviews while listening to music. This time, I blame Unsteady by X Ambassadors.

The Devil - 5 stars
The Devil's Advocate - 5 stars

WOW. Just WOW. I had no idea when I started this journey yesterday, that it would affect me this much. I think I've felt every single emotion on the color wheel, and then some. And it was as exhilarating as it was exhausting.

Do you know what it's like to be abused, brought down and destroyed by the people who were supposed to love you, protect you and nurture you? Have you ever, after years of abuse and feeling like you were lower than dirt and didn't deserve to live, found someone who put you on a pedestal so high it reached the sky? Someone whose world begins and ends with you? Someone who'd do anything for you and would go to any lengths to protect you? Have you ever felt so high on that power, you spun out of control? Because I've never personally experienced any of this before, but I felt all of this right alongside Cain Carter.

Now, have you ever loved someone so much your whole world revolved around them? Your existence began and ended with them? You were ready and willing to do absolutely anything for them? To protect them? Have you ever had someone break your heart so many times and you kept loving them with every single one of your shattered pieces? Have you ever been betrayed by that person? Have you ever reached that point where there are no more tears left to cry? No more love left to give? No more heart left to break? Did you have to put your pieces back together one by one, feeling like you lost yourself forever, and were no more than a ghost, a broken shell of yourself? Because I've never personally experienced any of this before, but I felt all of this right alongside Damien King and Eden Williams.

Now before we go any further, this is the part where I admit that I, like the cheater I unfortunately but undoubtedly am, read all the spoilers before diving into the books. I went in knowing exactly what was gonna happen, but you know what? It didn't matter. Knowing it was one thing, but experiencing it was a whole other ball game, my friends.
This is also the part where I let you know I have an uptight bitch in my head (let's call her M). She's always sitting on a couch, in the corner of my mind, looking at me over her glasses while filing her nails like she finds me utterly ridiculous.
Me : *hyperventilating because this or that happened*
M : you do realize you knew this was gonna happen, right?
Me : but... but... but...
M: *sighs heavily and resumes watching her Criminal Minds episode*

Did I mention she is not impressed with me, at all?

Any-im-not-crazy-i-swear-way, this duet was everything. I'm kicking myself because why haven't I read this sooner?
Let's talk about the characters.

Cain Carter
I can tell you Cain is psychopath. True. I could also tell you he's a villain, through and through, and that he deserves all the bad things in the world for everything he did. Also true.
But what I felt for Cain, other than hate and disgust (those feelings were there, trust me), is pity and sorrow.
I mourned the child that only wanted love and validation from his family and didn't get anything but abuse. I mourned the teenager that was so full of hate and aggression, he didn't know what to do with it. Worse, he couldn't love or accept love, because he was never showed how. I mourned the man he could have been. God, did I mourn the man he could have been.
And all through my hate for his actions, I kept thinking what would've happened if he'd have grown up in a loving home with a loving family? How is this fair? But you know what? Life isn't fair. We're all dealt cards and it's up to us to figure out a way to make it work.
And the path that Caine chose? That was the wrong one.

Damien King
I liked Damien from the first moment he appeared, loved him somewhere in the middle and am now ready to fight anyone who'd ever think of hurting him.
Now, was he perfect? No.
Did he make mistakes that resulted in devastating consequences? Yes.
But I had a hard time blaming him, because when you love someone the way Damien loved, and at his age (I'm not one of those people that'll tell you that age counts and blablabla, but decision making differs when you're 17 from when you're 30), you don't think of possible consequences. You just want to protect the first person that you felt truly saw you when you've been invisible, especially to the one person that should've loved you more than anything in the world. Hell, you'd do anything for that person, even degrading and humiliating yourself.
But when that person betrays you? The only thing left, the only thing that can help you pick yourself up off the ground, is revenge.
And Damien was ready to serve revenge in all the ways that hurt. What he didn't expect was the beautiful curveball life threw at him.

Eden Williams
This is a girl I rooted for from the beginning.
I rooted for her when she was a lost girl just wanting the love and affection of her stepfather.
I rooted for her when she was a pawn between two powerful and manipulative men.
I fucking cheered her on when she grew into the fearless, strong and amazing woman who's not to be played by any man.
Growing up ignored and resented by her mom, and developing severe anxiety and agoraphobia from such a young age, Eden was a true display of resilience and strength.
She shined so bright, I hoped all her enemies were blinded. Whenever she'd stand up for herself, my heart felt so full I thought it was gonna burst at some point. ❤️

Mrs Miller
You didn't deserve what happened to you. I begrudgingly understand why you acted the way you did or let things go as far as they did. Because when you're trapped and you feel like you're drowning, how do you let go of the only thing that makes you feel free? human again?
You had flaws, but who doesn't? I truly am sorry for the way things ended for you.
You deserved better from life, Mrs Miller.

Cain's father and brother
I know I should feel sorry for you, but I don't. Does that make me a monster? So be it.
I know Cain is an adult and that he is responsible for every single horrible thing he did, including to you, but I blame you. I blame you for the man he turned out to be.
I blame you and I don't care if it's wrong.

At this point in the review, I have tears in my eyes that I can't even blame on onions or something.

Here are some of the combinations of words, also known as sentences, that I felt in my soul :

“Because you can only be tethered to someone for so long before the cord begins to strangle you.”

“And you can’t escape when you have nowhere else to go.”

“And for once, my awareness isn’t followed by a swell of love or a trail of tears.
Because there are no more tears left to cry. There’s no more love left to give. There’s no more heart left to break.”

“The size of the bruise doesn’t matter…it’s the intent behind it.”

Also, you should know the sexy times in these books are OFF THE CHARTS.

This story made me feel, think and reflect. It's not one I'll forget anytime soon.
In fact, I predict that in many of the restless nights I have, I'll reflect on this story.
I'll think of life and how strange it is.
How a combination of actions/thoughts/events lead us to one path or the other.
How people debate whether evil is born or made.
How you can help someone before they cross to the other side.
How our families and childhoods mold us.
And most of all, how there are, at any given time, millions of children in the world that just want to be loved.
That deserve to be loved.
How I hope and wish they don't grow up to be the Cains of the world. 💔

Now I'll leave this here and go sleep these emotions away or maybe eat them.

'Damien might be the Devil, but his body is a temple. Golden skin, abs harder than granite, well-defined muscular arms, and an ass you could crack walnuts on.’

how could u resist a guy who considered watching his red-bellied piranhas eating its meal (his other fish pet that he fed evd) as therapeutic and has an ass that could help the lil creature in every ice age movies w/ his pinecone problem out, really?

Ftrc loved this

***possible spoiler***

’You’d do anything and risk everything for them. Including your soul.
Cain Carter was that person for me.
But in a strange twist of fate—it turns out he was Damien’s person first.
And now here we are (damien and eden)… trying to put the pieces together.’

☄️cain + eden ☄️

’Because the fucked-up thing about love is—just because the person you love doesn’t love you back…it doesn’t stop you from loving them.
It only makes you love them even more, makes you hold on a little tighter…because your love is the only thing that still tethers you to him.
And if the thread were to snap. If the foundation you built were to ever crumble. You’re left with nothing.
Sometimes the only difference between love and obsession is a broken heart.’
(sappy and whiny pathetic little eden fuck no)

☄️cain + damien ☄️

”I’m pretty sure we’re going to hell.”
“I own a timeshare there.” He flashes me a quick evil grin as he shifts the car into drive. “The weather’s beautiful this time of year.”
(hot, but)

☄️eden + damien ☄️

”If you break my heart.” There’s a dangerous edge to his voice. “I’ll fucking kill you.”
Damien knows damn well his heart is safe with me.
“Same goes for you.” Smirking, I pull him closer. “Just think about what happened to the last man who broke mine.”

The worst feeling in the world is being let down by the person you love the most. Imagine it’s the only person you have.

Ugh! He makes me want to puke and my blood run cold. He’s like a goddam reptile in the worst possible way.

You know that saying, ‘the Devil you know?’ Yeah, Eden’s better off with the Devil she doesn’t know.

I adored the same two fictional H’s for almost a decade and Damien is giving them a run for their money.

Talk about dub con (eh, more like non con) but why don’t I care? Thank goodness this man isn’t real because he would be the death of me.

Congratulations to Ashley Jade for making me fall for a total prick, something I’ve never really liked before. LJ Shen could take a few pointers from her on how to write the perfect asshole.

There was a real connection to Eden, to the point where I was proud of her for overcoming her fears. To see her become his rock was beautiful.

I’ve never really had a hard time concluding a review but I can’t seem to find the words. No doubt because I didn’t want to see this one end.

Dark, Twisted and Ohhh so good!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😁🤨🤫🤔☹️

The heroine: Eden - was neglected by her mother and used by Cain. Damien is now using her to get revenge. Though I think of the three Damien has better intentions for her than her mother did.

The Hero(es): Cain Carter – his goal is to become Mayor and everything he does is toward achieving that goal. Though he loves Eden (is obsessed with her really), he plans to marry the Governor’s daughter for political gain. He eventually wants to become President.
Damien King - Cain betrayed him and broke him when they were in high school and now he is driven by the desire to get revenge. He plans to take everything from Cain starting with Eden.

The Love Story: Damien plans to marry Eden and run for mayor against Cain. Eden is attracted to Damien despite being in love with Cain.

This story has so many intricacies, I was fascinated from the start. In The Devil I felt for Damien and though I didn’t like him at first, I grew to really like him. I was ambivalent about Cain early in the book despite his actions as a teen, but one thing I do know is that this is sizzling hot and super steamy!!! It is dark and twisty and erotic just how I like it….

I must say that after the things Cain did in The Devil and the way he has manipulated Eden, it was fun to see him thwarted by Damien more than once. It is rare in books when an “Anti-Hero” gets a taste of his own medicine, so I really enjoyed that. Not that Damien was a pillar of goodness himself, but I really liked him so I forgave his missteps.

Cain makes a good villain in this book since he goes to untenable lengths to get what he wants. I loved the fact that this one was just as unpredictable and surprising as the first book. I didn’t think there would be as many big reveals as there were in the first book, but I think this one had more. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going it would take a turn that I never suspected.

Loving someone isn’t dangerous. Falling in love with the wrong someone is."

SO GOOD.My mind is still reeling from the journey it just went through. This book was completely different than what I thought it was going to be. It was very dark and psychologically thrilling. I don't know exactly what I was expecting from this story, but it sure wasn't this twisted, deranged version of a love story. It's not your typical love story, that's for sure. I read so much that it's hard to find something new and unexpected, but that's what this book is. You have no idea where the story's leading or what's going to happen next. Just when I thought that we were done with all the twists and manipulation, this book throws another curveball at you. Some of them, I did not see coming at all.

“Even though you’re the key to my happiness…according to you, I’m the key to your destruction. Our two sides will never meet in the middle. I’m the girl you want to stay away from…and you’re the man I cling to.”

I slaughtered this book in a day. While the previous book dealt more with Cain and Damien's backstories, this book is the continuation of the storyline in present. We finally get more insight about all the characters, especially Eden. That poor girl was like a sheep stuck between two grisly, hungry wolves. To see how she was manipulated since the beginning to such an extent that she began to lose her mind... At the beginning, I sympathized and pitied her. But seeing her transformation from this scared little girl to a woman in charge of her life was a beautiful journey. Her story is thrilling, sad, maddening but most of all, it is twisted. There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel for Eden and Damien.

"But the thing about plans is… They never work out like you expect them to.
Because I seduced when I should have abandoned.
I tasted when I should have abstained.
I sinned when I should have atoned."

The only thing that I didn't like was the epilogue. It was just too short. I wanted to see more of Damien and Eden. I wanted more of their happiness because they both deserved it after all they went through. It was also hard to tell when they both fell in love with each other because for me it was one smexy scene after other with them. But overall, it was an incredible book, quite a page turner. If you like dark romance, then this is THE duet for you.

5 Twisted Stars ⭐️

This duet sucker punched me right in the gut. The Devil’s Advocate picked right up where The Devil (Book 1) ended and let me assure you this book didn’t disappoint. In this book the hunted becomes the hunter and he pulled out his entire arsenal to unleash hell.

Cain is running for mayor, Eden discovers that she is merely a pawn and Damian King will be the judge, jury and executioner. And how sweet retribution really is...

How this author managed to turn everything you knew on its head is really remarkable. You will unknowingly change your alliances and will appreciable what a total mindf#*k this is story is of the best kind. For those of you that appreciate a perfectly dark and twisted tale with a side of erotic filth you should not pass up on the Devil’s Playground Duet.

“People can condemn the wicked all they want. But deep down, we're all evil.

Some are just better at hiding it."

Holy shiiiiiit I need therapy right now!! This book was INTENSE!! I’m not even kidding. These characters were so messed up and twisted that I had anxiety while turning the pages. I didn’t know what was going to happen next and as much as I got a thrill from that feeling, I was genuinely scared AF!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I fell in love with these characters from the moment I read “The Devil” and I’ve been a sinner ever since. The world that this author brings you into was so foreign and deliciously forbidden, you didn’t know if you wanted to continue to being bad or just go straight to church and beg someone, ANYONE to sprinkle holy water on you! You feel out of your element, but relish the unknown and you sit back and enjoy the dirty ride because you know it’s going to be good.

“It's dangerous to want someone so much they can destroy you".

With a cliffhanger that literally had me pulling out my hair, “ The Devil’s Advocate” picks up right where the first book ended. Cain, Damien, and Eden are all wrapped up in a dangerous sick game and this time, no one will be safe. With a revenge plot eleven years in the making and seduction at the forefront, this is one twisty read that will leave your head spinning even when you’re done!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I really don’t want to give away anything in the plot so I’ll be keeping this review short. I will say that not only have I enjoyed this duet, but it is actually one of my all time favorites. It was edgy, skirted on the path of forbidden love, and some of the characters were just downright evil. I loved the fact that they knew who they were and they made no apology for it and if you didn’t like it, there was a dark ocean and some blocks out there with your name on it.

If you haven’t read these books yet, I honestly have no idea what you’re waiting for!!. The Devil Duet will have you wanting to be a sinner so bad, you won’t even care what’s right or wrong.

Love isn’t powerful because it builds and restores. It’s powerful because it survives destruction.

INTRO

I wish life was fair to everyone and the monsters weren't born out of the life injustice, but it's not, and unfortunately, evils are created everywhere because of the horrible mistreatments! Okay, I am not gonna turn my review into some kind of an anthem about goodness, but I am an emotionally fragile person, and I am truly affected by this book. Sorry.

Because even though I hate him now…I loved him, first...
It's the cruelest punishment there is. To continue loving someone who's given you every reason to hate them.

Funny that I was waiting for a ménage between Cain, Damien, and Eden; the story totally went in the opposite direction. But don't worry, the other ménage lovers out there, this book includes a scene; only, I wish there was more!

“Look up at the stars and hold your breath.”
“Why?” - “Because this is going to hurt.”
“What's—” “Taking what's his.”

-Sorry for my quote overload; It was challenging for me to eliminate from my favorite lines...-

“There are two types of people in this world. Those who are capable of greatness, but don’t bother trying. And those who still try even though they’re not capable of greatness. Which one are you?”

“You can either stay the lamb…or become the slaughterer,”
“If you want something, step up and claim it.”
“Because there’s only room for one queen in a castle.”

“I want you to keep holding your head high wherever you go. And if someone gives you hell, you make them eat shit. Got it?”

I have one of two choices. I can either choose to let her words have the intended effect and make me feel bad. Or I can stand up for myself.
-I had to include this quote because, oh, how much I relate to this feeling sometimes.-

OVERALL

I agree with many of my friends who struggle writing reviews about the books they love more/most. It's so damn hard. It took longer for me to write reviews than I read the whole duet, lol.
I loved this book so much, but personally, whenever I want to write a review, I always also feel like mentioning "what didn't work's" like I am feeling now.

And I don't want my love for this book to remain in the background, so before getting into my nuisance. I have to say:

It was an amazing read, my love for Ashley Jade is real! This is one of those books that leaves me numb with wanting more, like ''what can I read next to move on? '' kind. The perfect combination of melodrama, romance, and hotness!

He fucks the same way he threatens...with no mercy.

Another Tiny Hint to those who have never read Ashley Jade before: She loves twists, exceptionally be ready to be bombarded with them right before the end. And you'll notice the hints she gave you through the book, not too predictable but always there. In the conclusion part of this book, I don't think something happened that shocked me, but I wasn't bothered by this fact at all!

Now about my tiny annoyances:

I think writing from a person's perspective is a risky business sometimes because you know it's a glimpse inside of someone's mind - you read about what this person thinks, feels, decides, acts... In a way, you become this person. So I have to say I found one of the main characters' pov in the first book misleading. I can't say much more than that without spoiling it, but at least soon enough, It pieced itself together. This is actually an issue about the first book, but I mention it here because my mind got even more apparent after this book!

“Go to hell.” He catches my wrist a second before my hand connects with his cheek. “I vacation there, little lamb.”

It's easy for me to say I loved this book more than the first one! But sadly, I liked the first %85 more! It's a bit unfortunate assuming the fact that everything actually came clean and twists were solved in this tiny percentage.
Does this basically mean I am not entirely happy with closure?!

The answer to that; I am partly happy and partly sad; I am not too fond of how they came to that point or what kind of events occurred till then. I believe it's mainly because of my personal dislike of a particular matter. Also, unfortunately, I don't think everything made super sense.

But I am totally broken, sad, and hurt, and ironically when a book gives me these feelings, I find it successful... Although, one thing hurt deeper than the rest... I just... It's hard to move on...

My heart will heal eventually. Or maybe it won’t.
It doesn’t matter. I only need the physical organ to survive.

Additionally, I loved the epilogue; It put a smile on my face! So that means I am happy with the final conclusion? I guess I can say, "all's well that ends well."

They say there’s a thin line between love and hate.
But mine’s so thick I can taste it. And it tastes like nicotine and sin.

Spoiler Alert about the Epilogue! -

Buddy Read with my beloved K! Thank you, lovely! It was an amazing journey!

“Take off your mask,”
“Then everyone will know who I am,”
“Good.” “You don’t belong under a mask, Eden.”
“Everyone’s staring at us,” - “Let them.”
“Thank you.”

Reminding me I’m no longer that girl.
“Being you.”
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

I can honestly say that The Devil and The Devil’s Advocate is Ashley Jade’s best work yet. Wow. She blew me away with The Devil and with The Devil’s Advocate she’s cemented herself as an author who gets better with every book she writes. I’m still trying to catch my breath after finishing TDA. What a wicked, twisted and delicious tale this was. Just when I thought I had it all figured out the author ripped the rug right from under me. Leaving me flabbergasted and ecstatic because this is fabulous storytelling. Entertaining as hell.

All I can say without giving anything away is that trust nobody and everyone has an agenda of their own. Cain, Damien and Eden plays this erotic and beyond twisted game to perfection. There’s no boundaries when they’ve an endgame in sight and they’ll stop at nothing to achieve it. No matter how dirty, kinky and wrong it is. Cause it sure was but it’s definitely also hot as hell. Ashley Jade knows how to write M/M/F and M/M like nobody else. Wowza. Talk about feeling hot constantly while reading TDA.

TDA is a thrilling, exciting and most of all entertaining story. I had so much fun and just went along for the ride trying to figure it all out. I had my work cut out for me thanks to the brilliant mind of a very gifted storyteller. Her writing is poignant and haunting. She weaves a clever and intricate web like no else. All I can say for the people who takes a chance on this epic duet. Hold on for dear life and just enjoy this devilish story.

Like book one, this book was a complete mindf*ck. It was unpleasant to listen to only because I don't like high angst, or manipulation in my stories...and this was brimming with both. That's not to say that the story wasn't amazing, I just have no desire to ever read it again. I was also not pleased to find out who she was related to. Yuck, really guys? You both knew!?

The scene with the piranha and the penis 😳I was terrified!

Teddy Hamilton and Victoria Mei did an excellent job at narration.

Well..this was something different.

I haven´t read the first book nor will i ever, cuz "The Devil`s Advocate" was a waste of time. Its clear that Ashley Jade wanted to make something different out of erotica and mixing it with suspense. Some of the sex scenes between Eden and Damien was hot..but i have read more impressive sex scenes all together from regular romantic novels.

All the characters are fucked up,and NOT in a fascinating way and the only reason i don`t give this 1 star is because this author can actually write.

I wanted to leave my review as just READ THIS FUCKING BOOK! Five stars is not enough for how much I loved this duet.

This motherfucker legiterally had me all over the place. It was the perfect blend of the three Ds: Dirty, Deviant, and Delicious.

I loved the first book in this duet but holy shit The Devil's Advocate takes the whole fucking cake shoves it in your face and says you know you want it all bitch.

Ashley Jade straight up bitch slapped me with some twists I didn't see coming. When all the skeletons come out your jaw will drop. By the end of this twisted tale you'll wonder who the fuck was playing who. Revenge is best served cold but this was scorching hot in the best way possible.

Holy shit this duet. What did I just read and why did I love it so much?

I don't even know how to begin reviewing this story, so I'm not going to try. What I'll say is that I loved the fuck out of it. It's a fucked up romance with fucked up characters, and this girl loved every fucked up page of it.

You're desperate for redemption, though you don't know if it will happen. What began as a smoke screen in book one, fully unravels with some serious twists in this book. And holy SHIT were they jaw dropping. The more you find out about the convoluted past of Cain, the more you find out about his tether to Eden, the more you want to scream at the ceiling. I never saw any of these coming and honestly felt like I was ran over by a truck after finishing. If you love a darker romance with some morally gray characters and a romance unlike any other, you need this duet in your life.

This is book 2 in this series and what a twisted ride it was.
It was totally different from my usual reads and despite the many no-no's this had in store for me I still enjoyed it a lot.
It gripped me from the start with its originality and uniqueness and was a superb finale.
My first experience with this author but definitely not my last.
I can't say too much without giving this away so my main advice is read this series blind with no preconceptions.
This is again told from all three POV's and is equally as enthralling as its predecessor.
A great read that I do recommend.
Totally loving where this went and also that final brilliant end game.
This one managed to totally surprise me.

I’ve had this book on my tbr list for the longest and I played myself by putting it off. This delicious mind fuck.
I treasure the insidious inside thoughts of Caine. I adore the growth of Eden. So fucking turned on by how confident and comfortably Damien is with his sexuality. God I love him.

Combined Duet Rating: 4 Stars

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The messiness and darkness. The true H. How the twists and turns resulted in the end. The steamy scenes.

The Not-So-Good: The ending. I liked what happened in the ending! I just wanted much, much more! This was yet another one that gives us the epilogue right after the conflict resolution. I had some unanswered questions in the end and I really wanted to experience the HEA!

The Bad: The h. Still. I didn’t struggle with her as much as I did in the first book, but she still bugged me. See below h section.

Overall: This was an enjoyable duet. I appreciated the fact that it wasn’t stretched out too much as that seems to happen way too often these days so the authors can sell two books instead of one. Overall, I liked it and would recommend to anyone that likes the messy and dark romances!

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is the conclusion of Eden, Cain, and Damien’s story. Again, it’s best if you go in blind. I will, however, still make note of the summary privately if anyone wants to pm me for the spoiler details.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Eden, Cain, and Damien’s POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well.

Instalove: No

H1 and H2 ratings: Cain and Damien. I’m not gonna say. I think it should be experienced. I will say, though, that my original predictions about these two was pretty spot on 😏

h (heroine) rating: 2.5 stars. Eden. She ended up a little better for me, but just a little. I really wanted her to stop playing the victim and crying all the time. I wanted her to be badass (like she ended up) throughout!

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- and still a lot but I don’t think it is so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: Yes

Separation: No, this isn’t really a traditional relationship enough for me to call what happens a separation

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in a good place with what I would call a HEA

Safety: This one is probably also Not Safe for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences

Miss Jade gives her readers an ending to remember. The Devil's Advocate is sexy, hot, dirty and kinky conclusion. The manipulation is hot. The lies keep me on the edge of my seat.

The plot is so twisted that I can not guess how it ends. The love triangle is manipulative.

Hot, hot, hot...

Evil is merely the absence of good.
People can condemn the wicked all they want. But deep down, we’re all evil.
Some are just better at hiding it.

Oh no! Ashley Jade deceived me! This book deceive me! And I liked it.

As if heaven and hell had one dirty, corrupt night together and she’s the tantalizing vestige.

Jade got me so attached to this one character and then used that attachment against me. It wasn't done as smart as one would think but I loved it.

It's the cruelest punishment there is. To continue loving someone who's given you every reason to hate them.

I can't believe I empathized with the villain, trusted them and then had that character bash my head in with a laughing emoji. Fucking hell.

Loving someone isn’t dangerous.
Falling in love with the wrong someone is.

This was sexy, intriguing... like I literally couldn't put this book down to sleep and I had an exam the next morning! This was twisted and psychopathic and I ate it the fuck up. The lying, the secrets, the manipulation. YES!!!

They say the Devil was once an angel.
But no one ever bothered to ask the Devil what led to his downfall, or why he became so evil.

Maybe a little convenient at times but imma turn a blind eye on that. This was a great read, good bye.

I’ve earned my throne in Hell, and I will gladly burn in the flames...

This book was EVERYTHING!!!!! It was dark, twisted, dirty and oh so good!! The mind games in this were next level. There were times I screamed and yelled at Eden and had to remind myself she was only 18 and so naïve, but she redeemed herself. The ending was perfect in this sick and twisted duet, do yourself a favor and read this if you haven't!! The way Ashley Jade writes MMF is pure 🔥🔥🥵

What a good duet ! I was hooked from the beginning.
The lies, manipulation, deception, smut, character development. Everything was great.

This book is described as a MMF but truly isn’t. There are 3 characters involved in a sea of lies and deception, they all had or have a relationship with each other either in the past or present, but never together. And I have to say I am glad because we have here Damien, Eden and Cain. I am not going to say each one is THE ABSOLUTE worst and deserved all the bad that was delivered to him in the end, i am not saying because it’s fun to figure it out since neither guy is good. In fact they are both bad, manipulative and wrong. The difference is one of them actually has a heart no matter how many times he mentions he doesn’t, but his actions tell you otherwise. This one is the one that truly and wholeheartedly loves Eden and wants to protect her, that doesn’t mean the beginning of their relationship wasn’t because he wasn’t using her because he was. He was actually mean and everything he was doing “seemed like” was only to his own benefit. But it wasn’t. That doesn’t absolve his wrongs but he was willing to take responsibility and the fall for her. The other guy in question was a true psychopath and only in love with himself. He was selfish, violent and not afraid to use anything at his disposal to get what he wanted. He was the true DEVIL because was capable of manipulating people, blackmailing and killing innocent without any remorse. Nothing was off limits for him and even his “so called” love for Eden was selfish and he always had all the intentions to kill her, and we also get deceived by him. So now that we know both are bad but one is worth it, let’s go to Eden. And oh how I freaking LOVE IT when an author writes a good female character that it isn’t a doormat, that is actually smart and has growth in the story. She started as fragile and innocent and was becoming a bad fucking bitch page by page, and then in the end she had her grand finale with the bad bitch medal to celebrate! I loved how she grows and finds herself. She obviously has the help and support of one of the man, even though his methods were a little unconventional.
Now let’s just talk smut for a little. I love the spice in this book and everyone that follows my reviews knows how much I love MM, MFM and MMF. I don’t like reverse harem but I love a good well written throuple. BUT I am not very keen on “sharing” , I know how this statement makes me a hypocrite 😂😂😂 but if it’s a throuple first and foremost I need the woman to be the queen, and if it is a treesome just for the sake of it , I want the scene to be done in a way that doesn’t make me want to throttle one of them, if the scene is not done right it just works to make me jealous and angry and that’s why I not very into the sharing situation, I want my man in books to be so possessive and jealous that he wouldn’t allow anyone to even look at his woman. I know it’s hard to understand but I feel what I feel and if it’s done right than I like it, otherwise I just don’t, and here I actually DID NOT like the one sharing scene they have. It wasn’t my favorite and I felt second hand jealousy for Eden, just saying. 😂😂😂😂😂

Murder, lies and betrayal thats what this series is. And i gotta admit i was shocked this was different read for me.. and only read this if you can stomach a sorta love triangle.. and dark themes...

I'll be honest i didn't enjoy the first book the devil i reallyyy liked this book way more. I hated right then and there Cain he was a manipulated asshole and honestly i was waiting for his demise. I had a love/hate relationship also with Damine but mostly turned into love since he had a plan of revenge and he deserved to do it.. and it was great how he fell in love and didnt back track into Cain's lies.

And EDEN!!!! Now at first i was annoyed with Eden girl was lusting after her step-father (Cain) and vise versa.. even when she was team Devil.. she did fall back once or twice to Cains lies.. i was glad she grew a backbone and stood up for herself and got her some revenge also..

Angst, Om drama (its a love triangle so yeah) & ow drama, kinda cheating its revenge so yeah, drama, sexy times, virgin gal Cain is a manwhore.. Damine.. idk when his last fk was..

Recommend- maybe

***ARC kindely provided by the author in exchange for an honest review***

the first book showed me the glimpse of how far Ashley jade can provoke me into slipping through the rabbit hole of devious darkness...and now I need more... *smirks*

Lord have mercy!

Now, I was ready in advance for this, knowing how the first book ended, I was actually surprised by how Damien King ruled the second book.

My, my, my...you need to meet this guy

Now, secondly, Cain Carter was, in fact, the ultimate villain-esque presence. You can't actually believe the things he's willing to do to gain and obtain his goals...damn, this guy is perfectly disgusting but you can't stop watching him in action LOL (it's a whiplashing at its finest ;)

BUT even though I somewhat had the simpathy for the heroine, in the beginning, Eden, inspite of the "positive" thing that she thrived and excelled to, happened in the end, I was never fully convinced by the "emotional" aspect of her relationship with Damien...smth was missing or rather it was abruptly unreal...even though I loved the intensity, I just never really expected smth more between them and that was served as a full dish at the end of the book.

Ashely jade is an author I will most certainly look into *wink*, since this was my second book that I have read written by her and I was tossed into this fucked up turmoil of sexual deviousness and depravity of both morals and phyisical/emotional actions... and I just kept turning the page after page in utmost stunned interest!

hell to the YAAAASSSSS!

I think, that should be the reference enough for you to discover the works of Ashely jade, if you haven't already!
