My body will burn with need. My mind will go mad with lust. Then he'll consume my soul.

I thought I knew how to handle a man like him, but there are no men like him. Though he is a billionaire, when he desired me he did not try to buy me, and when he wanted me bared and bound he didn't call his bodyguards. He did it himself, even as I fought him, because he could.

He told me soon I would beg him to ravage me... and I did. But it wasn't the pain of his belt searing my naked backside that drove me to plead with him to use me so shamefully I might never stop blushing. I begged because my body knew its master, and it didn't give me a choice.

But my body is not all he plans to claim. He wants my mind and my soul too, and he will have them. He's going to take so much of me there will be nothing left. He's going to consume me.

Genre: This is a Dark Parnormal Romance.

Well I need a cold shower! What a hot Little audio book.!

Primal and dark, twisted and erotic and everything in between. Kassandra and Markos story is full of suspense and delicious drama. Meghan Kelly's narration was very emotion evoking, she truly captured the personalities and brought depth to the characters. This book suits its title Consumed as that is exactly what it did.

Fast paced and well written this story won't dissapoint the sci fi romance lovers.

2* STARS!

description

Holy fuck. I'm so confused with this book. I didn't know what to expect.

Kassandra is an undercover agent with mission to infiltrate the most dangerous person in Greek. But sadly, I found Kassandra is clumsy and lacking of backbones. Really? She's the best agent they got? Meet the tall, dark and handsome boss, Markos Valero. A devilish vampire who believe in fate to finally meet Kassandra. He began to manipulate her. Punished her. Fucked her in every despicable ways despite her denial. Still interesting so far. And no, I didn't found it sexy with his idea of forced submission.

At this point, Kassandra back to her reality. Living her mundane life and it was pretty boring. However, Markos is still haunting Kassandra day by day. Finally, she lose control and appointed to asylum. Definitely not what I have in mind. Then, Markos keeps appearing with his seductive promises when Kassandra couldn't make any different what's real, what's fantasy.

They keep using sex until the end of story. I skimming those pages. Markos makes Kassandra burn with need and mad with lust until she surrender her soul. He is the Master. The Devil. Overall, it is not your usual paranormal romance. The story is lack of depth and little chemistry. Don't expect much, eh. I couldn't like both characters because it felt rushed and manipulative because Markos needs her to conquer the world. They did a lot of kinky shit that I quite enjoyed it though. Even sometimes it's a bit too much.

This was a hodgepodge of WTF and WHY.

Seriously. WHY.

And DAMN! Clearly the gods chose wrong when putting mankind's future in this family's hands. They should have gone with a Black woman to save humanity...at least she wouldn't have given up and let the world go to hell in a handbasket after one. single. night. of dick.

Dark, Different and Consuming!

“Consumed” literally consumed me from beginning to end! This very dark, paranormal, erotic romance kept me guessing from the first page to the last. Part Devil and part Vampire, Markos is the anti-hero you just love to hate. Combining the two immortal entities (even metaphorically) makes for a mind-bending story-line. When the Warrior of Light encounters the ultimate evil will darkness or light prevail? … Ultimately the destiny of humanity is at stake (no vampiric pun intended). Professionally written and extremely fast-paced, this highly erotic thriller may ultimately tempt you to unite with the dark side… or at the very least find yourself captivated by the Devil.

Disclaimer: No Kindles were seriously harmed while reading this novel. Children 18 + only… due to sexually explicit content which might be considered exacting or dubious in nature.

Disclaimer for the Disclaimer… The term “seriously harmed” is not intended to include: overheating, scorch marks, minor melting or inconsequential fire that can be put out with an extinguisher. Fire retardant gloves highly recommended while reading. Reviewer is not responsible for run-on sentences, misplaced commas or illegal use of overly descriptive language.

RATING DETAILS (Based on 1 to 5 Gold Stars):
STEAM FACTOR: 5 Consuming Stars

PLOT: 5 Original Stars
ENGAGING CHARACTERS: 5 Devilish Stars

Started out very intriguing, very different dark tale but then each “trial” was simply one sex subjugation scene after another, and only interactions between the two characters. And while it was interesting, it began to drag on and on until I asked myself, what is the point of this tale? Can we read the perspective of others including the hero more, just to round the one-sided story. Once arriving to the epilogue, quite original, it just didn’t make sense, as if there was something missing. Basically “pass these trials, and you will reign over the world.” The story felt incomplete but props for originality.

Ummm... WinTactualF? I am all discombobulated after reading this book. I mean, I'm not entirely sure I can put myself back together yet. It is intense, it is dark, go a little darker, yeah, that dark, and it is a roller coaster of all the feelz.

I don't know how I feel about Markos. I dunno if I love to hate him, hate to love him, just plain hate him, or just plain love him. Hopefully, I'll figure it out sometime, but I am not counting on it at all.

Kassandra is fascinating, and what she deals with is just...

Yeah, awesome book.

This book is a quick listen (compared to many other audiobooks), but it definitely packs a punch. This book was way more than I expected, but in a good way. The synopsis definitely leaves a lot out regarding the storyline, but I think that is necessary; to have revealed more may have ruined the book. The author kept me guessing the whole time and I wasn't completely sure what was really going on which helped me experience the same thing as the female MC (in a way). This isn't a full length book, so I understand why the author didn't go into a ton of detail in Markos backstory, but I would have liked more information because he is a very unique vampire. The narrator did a great job performing this book. There was only one chapter written in Markos's POV, but she did a great job changing her voice to reflect his character. Overall. this was a unique and mildly disturbing read (which isn't a bad thing!) and I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a different paranormal, dark romance (but heed the author's warning!).

This review contains spoilers and strong language. Not intended for younger than 18 and readers that don't want to know what happened in a book. You read this review on your own risk. You've been warned.

What the fucking fuck? What the fuck did I just read and did not DNF? I'm going to have nightmares tonight.

I knew she was dead but my presumption was that she went to hell. That she got possessed and then died and went to hell... I was almost right, I just don't know which version of the plot is worse. Guys... This was some deep and weird shit. I haven't read in along long time such a freaky book like this one. I am a bit ashamed to say that I might have enjoyed part of it but I am also terrified that I did. This was the strangest 2.5 h of my life, at least this year.

I need to say a prayer in hope God will forgive me.

This read will terrify you. And arouse you. And make you want to go to confession. And then will make you to read some more.

Consumed by Sara Fields was an erotic and highly unusual paranormal romance. The story will hold your attention as you try to figure out whats what in this tale however there were some parts that just became repetitive and sort of made the story drag at times. This novel was mostly focused on the steamy scenes with the BDMS elements included and as a result there wasn't any character development. When we reached the epilogue as I felt as though it was a bit rushed, however the story did have some mind bending moments which was what kept you hooked.
The audible version of this story was narrated by Meghan Kelly. She did an incredible job with the characters. Her male voice was awesome and she really portrayed the emotion coming from Kassandra. I enjoyed listening to her.
I would recommend this paranormal romance to those looking for a quick yet highly erotic read.

Is it a me thing?

I'm really struggling with how to rate this book, there is so much about it that is good, characters, plot, flow of writing, pace BUT it just isn't captivating me. I feel very much 'take or leave it', which is definitely a me thing. So do I review objectively or subjectively?

I have read and loved some of this authors work, yet other books have left me cold and been DNF's. Despite having all the right contents of a great dark read this, for me, is tipping towards the later. It's only one thing that is causing this, but for me it's a big thing. I just don't feel any emotion from the characters. I'm not connecting with them, so I don't feel drawn into the story. Instead I feel like an impartial observer.

I so want to love and be able to rave about this book, but I can't. However I'm pretty certain that many people will enjoy it, particularly fans of Ms Fields, those who love an erotic dark read and those who enjoy dark paranormal stories. I do recommend this to others simply because what made it 'not work' for me is very personal taste, rather than anything to do with the plot or the overall story.

A Dark Paranormal Romance
By: Sara Fields
Narrated by: Meghan Kelly

Give me a story with suspense and steam and I am in. Sara Fields always delivers, whether aliens or in this case vampires! This dark tale had me consumed the entire way through. Kassandra thought she knew how to handle a man like Marcos. But she didn't realize who he really was and why she was attracted to him! When she comes face to face with him, all bets are off. What he wants, he gets, and she can't stop him. But is he real? I have to say, the twists and turns in this story had me wondering all the way through. Marcos is a mesmerizing man, handsome, rich and powerful, but his true control comes through when he is with Kassandra. Kassandra is a tough one. I followed every move she made and the whole time, I was wondering what was real, what was a dream and would they finally unite! Fields does some incredible mind bending, infuses passion and hot scenes that are panty melting and will keep you wondering til the last scene! It's a fantastic listen.

To deliver this book, a narrator that can pass on the darkness and give the mystery as well as the eroticism is key. Meghan Kelly is the perfect choice for this. She makes this story thrive, with the evilness of Marcos and the innocence of Kassandra. It all comes through in her performance with her inflections and cadence. I loved it!

This book started much different than I had first anticipated. So much so, that I forgot I was reading a paranormal romance. it had the feel of mafia romance all over it. It was minor things that would occur that would remind me that he was not mafia but it still seemed like a contemporary romance.

There were some twists that I did not see coming until one pivotal "ah-ha" moment. The steam was off the chart to the point I worried if my iPad was going to overheat. My biggest complaint with this story is that I wanted more background into this connection. I needed more from the characters and what their being together truly entailed. It felt rushed in regards to the conclusion. There was so much still left to be explored that the conclusion frustrated me. Especially, being that I was definitely invested in this story and wanted to know more.

That being said, still a very good story.

The book started interestingly enough, and the idea for both the plot and characters was an interesting one. But I feel like a lot of it got left on the editing floor almost. To me, it seemed like the main focus was the erotic encounters, not the plot itself. And if you want a quick, very dark erotic short that gives you lots of sex for very little plot, this book is worth the read. Please note the very dark though.

For me, I was left wanting to know more about Markos' past, more about the lore of the world and this prophecy that's mentioned as a motivation within the book, and more about why Kassandra didn't seem to know her own family history as well as she probably should have. Everything after the initial meeting between Markos and Kassandra felt rushed, pushed too fast and too hard toward the end.

The writing itself flows well, the characters could be better with a little more story to give a deeper view of them but even the short view of them they didn't feel too flat just lacking a little for their personal motivations, and the story itself is interest - I just found the amount of story verse sex to be lacking.

Fast paced scorching hot with a lot of dark elements that will keep you on edge.

It is a story that has D/s elements and that will keep you entertained..

Kasandra has been assigned in an undercover task that she is not really ready to achieve as she didn’t expect him to be that intense and hot..

Marko is a very Alfa and strong hero determine to play and manipulate Kassandra to get what he needs and wants..

The intensity and chemistry of the main character is strong.. no matter how much the heroine tried to stay in her goal Marko and their chemistry made it imposible for her to stick with..

It was good and hot. But I felt a little rushed into the story.. give the story a try and make your own conclusions.

This one wasn’t whatever I expected - written very well as ever and interesting characters with the right differences to pull each other in with a captivating storyline. But just it didn’t get me. The hole time I was asking myself what was his purpose?
Did he want her because she was her, because of her personality or as victories against his arch enemy as a warrior of light or because of her external attributes or just own her as a piece of property? And then why these games, condition her and change everything? What remains then?
As I said, good story but the message of what it was about didn't reach me and the ending was kind of off.

I liked this story for the most part. The storyline was interesting, the intimacy between characters, smoking hot. The reason for 3 stars, there was too much redundancy in parts of the story for the story to flow as easily as it should have. The character development seemed rushed for all characters, not just the main characters and there were plot holes that made parts of the story confusing. All in all its not a bad read. Quick, hot with a heavy dose of passion but wasn't my favorite book by Sara.

Audiobook review: Meghan Kelly has done an amazing narration with this book, the characters come to life and the emotions are felt deep though out. The way there characters are able to stand strongly on their own is what makes this a great story to hear. We’re given a dark PNR read that will have you Consumed the entire time and leave you wanting more. Just when you think you’ve figured out what’s happening there’s a turn that will leave your mind going in so many more new directions. I personally cannot wait to see what’s to come next for these two.

This book just ............well the emotions were all over the place in this newest story by Sara Fields. It's dark and deviant and just sooooo good that I couldn't put it down. And I'm one who doesn't normally read the really dark stuff. The characters just drew me into their story and before I knew it, I was "consumed" by reading this unfold!!! This is so good, so well written and so unexpected. All I can say is............get this book!!

I enjoyed this darker tale from Sara Fields. It packed a lot of steam and suspense for quite a short read. Ms. Field did a great job at playing with the readers mind and making us question what is in fact going on. My only complaint is that I wish the story were longer so we could get more character development for both main characters. Overall, I definitely recommend this to all the lovers of darkish PNR.

Kassandra is investigating Markos Valera a suspected criminal that Interpol hasn't been able to get anything on until her. Markos turns out to be the ultimate evil and a huge surprise for Kassandra. This is a very dark and twisted story with spanking and other kink elements. A different take on an old tale.

If you like lovey dovey romance this book is NOT for you. It is way past 50 shades. There is violence and satanist. It is more like a very erotic supernatural story, than a love story. It is fast past and not for the faint of heart.

This is my second attempt at a Sara Fields book. I read it all. I liked that it was paranormal. There is some (though not a significant amount of) discussion of who he is (though not much on what he is), and who she is... A little dark, but mostly just weird.

Really disappointed!

This story was so poorly executed it ended up being nothing more than a read of two people, lust, beltings, whippings and sex. I realize this was billed as a dark romance with a bdsm theme, but the romance was definitely missing. And don't expect an HEA ... Oh the h and H end up together, but by the end you either wish they hadn't or just don't care.

I found the H mostly self-centered and cruel and he only got worse as the book progressed. The h starts out as a strong brave character fighting crime as an agent for Scotland Yard, but she quickly turns into a lusting masochist who thinks of nothing but the H. I also found it difficult to believe that a woman the age of our h, who was trained in combat would have no inkling she was turned on by pain until she was belted and whipped by the H. And while the first belting was because she didn't obey his command, the rest of the whippings (bullwhip and belt) appear to be for no reason other than because he could and liked inflicting pain. Oh, it's hinted at the end that it was all some kind of trial or test but there's no details or background provided.

I've enjoyed good dark romances, but this was neither good nor was there any romance, dark or otherwise. This was purely SMS...(Sadism, Masochism, Sex). If that's what you're into, go for it, otherwise stay far away.

There has only been one other book in the over 50 years that I have been reading that I quit reading in disgust at the material (the other one was HELTER SKELTER when I was 17 years old).

This is NOT NOT NOT domination and submission. It is rape. D/s is consented. It is safe. It is sane. That is why I couldn’t listen anymore.

So, why did I give it 2 crowns instead of the minimum 1? Because the author can write. She can set a scene and before we met the rapist, Kassandra (the victim) is set up as an undercover agent with edge-of-your-seat anticipation.

Narration: Then there is the wonderful voice of Meghan Kelly. She gives drama that brings you into a story. Unfortunately, this time it was bringing me into the scene of a rape disguised as a D/s scene.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I’m not quite sure what to make of Consumed. It’s engrossing, and the story moves in wildly unexpected ways. There’s also a large degree of mental trickery in the story—just like its heroine, it’s hard to figure out what is real and what is not.

That said, I had trouble with the last word of the subtitle of this book, because this really didn’t come across as a romance to me. A dark paranormal tale of obsession and desire, yes. But romance requires (among other things) a balance between its protagonists, and Consumed lacked that.

So it’s a fascinating, almost mesmerizing book that moves in ways you wouldn’t anticipate. It’s definitely dark, and if you like dark and noncon, this should be right up your alley. But as a romance, it wasn’t successful to me. If you want a fantastic example of the latter in Fields’ works that is also wildly inventive, check out Feral.

Consumed by Sara Fields is a Standalone Dark Paranormal Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Meghan Kelly. This is the second book of Sara’s that I have read and she did not disappoint. I highly enjoyed the twists in the story, it kept me highly engaged and wanting to know how it ends. The book does include rough, intense sexual scenes and strong BDSM Themes.

Meghan did an amazing job narrating and using different voices for Kassandra and Markos. She is very talented and always leaves me wanting more. This is the third book I have listened to that she has narrated and she never leaves me disappointed.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes Dark Romances, Paranormal Romance, and Alpha Males.

The very devil’s trials

—>>> Pain. Torture. Degradation. Fire. Ecstasy.
We are taken through an emotionally dark journey in this story. Drawn to the mysterious dangerous Markos Varela instead of her assigned mark, undercover agent Kassandra is caught in his home’s off-limits areas during one of his parties and finds herself caught up in a lustfilled mind experience with him as her Master, but not being able to get her bearings except for the rare lucid moments when she hands herself over to him.

A thoroughly engrossing tale of a woman helplessly and utterly consumed by the man who realizes and relishes her significance to his existence.
