Fatherless is a heartbreaking tale of a young man dealing with the pain of abandonment, finding true love and meeting the tragedy of his ultimate fate. Abandoned by his father, Danny Braverman struggles to find his way through the confusion of adolescence and developing sexuality. Danny finds comfort in the words of Darius, the man that becomes his mentor and discovers true love in the green eyes of Sarah but not every story has a happy ending and the citizens of Fatherless may have to wait a generation for their freedom.
David C. Riggins studied writing at Clearwater College in Central Florida and published his first novel in June, 2014. He is the author of Boys of the fatherless, (.99 on Amazon) a dystopian love story based on his own real life experience of being abandoned as a child.
Shades of 1984 though Orwell had never heard of killer drones when he wrote of his dystopian world. Depending on your point of view being deserted by his father may not be 13-year-old Danny’s biggest problem in this oppressive society. Part coming of age story, dystopian society, romance, adventure, self-discovery.
Hacking this regime was suicidal for his friend Jesse. Danny finds love, they get married before the baby arrives, Sarah’s guilt forces her reveal that which she should have kept secret, Danny does the hot-blooded predictable. This is not a story with an HEA and it comes to an incomplete ending. The wait for volume II begins......
A young man is coming with life in a future world. His father abandoned him, he's struggling in the new world, finding his role, growing, a hardship that's difficult to live through. I had a are time understanding, guess because it's not my usual reading genre well written.
Wow going into this book I had no idea what it was about but it was a really good book. Sad ending but cliff hanger too. Will have to see what happens in next book.
It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad either. I found it to be a quick read and interesting throughout. The one thing I really wished for was more character depth. I noticed almost immediately how much care was put into describing appearances, but much less in personalities. I would recommend it to the right people.
I received this book from Black Rose Writing as part of Library Thing Early Reviewer program in exchange for an honest review.
