I thought this was a perfect view of why we have challenges on Earth. It doesn't matter who we are we will all be faced with challenges. It's what we do with it that makes the difference. Very well written book.
I guess I was hoping for a miracle, but no- same old, same old. Of course they are good same old things that help us to deal with our trials. It was a good book to read, but nothing new. I could tell that it was written a while ago. He quoted a lot of other people, and used their ideas- which is fine. Mostly I learned that you just shouldn't ask Why me? That we have our agency- God didn't cause these bad things to happen. Laws of nature have to follow their course.

Love how Brent L Top gives scripture examples. Heavenly Father sees the big picture and knows all we do not. Sometimes it will take everything we have but if TRUST Him and be Patient we will have the strength we need. Someday in this life or the next we will have the answers! Really needed this talk today :) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
4.5 stars. Only because I felt he was a little harsh to some of his examples. So much good stuff in here. I feel motivated to keep going and trust in God that his plan is unfolding as it should and that our savior has overcome all things.
Quoted from the front flap of the book, "Strength Through Adversity explores those healing principles that God has given to help us understand and endure adversity. ...this book provides a gospel context within which readers can increase their understanding and find comfort amidst their personal trials."
I thought this book was good. There was really no new information I gained. Having been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life, I have heard these principles preached over the pulpit many times. If I were going through a huge trial, or some severe adversity, this book would have made a bigger impact on me. Having all this information collected into one book is nice. I enjoyed the stories and examples that the author used. This book is well referenced. I even have added a couple of books to my "to-read" list after looking over the Bibliography.
Brent Top is a favorite Education Week speaker of mine. This class is one I attended twice, and this book contains the content of that class. One of my most beloved books.
This book was just what I needed right now. Nothing earth shattering, but it is full of excellent quotes and insights into how to overcome adversity. A great, inspiring read!
