This was the first shifter book like this that I have read. I liked Kira and how in sync to her wolf she was. She had not known any of her family until she was contacted to appear for the reading of her father’s will. She had never met him or any other wolf shifters until she went for the reading.

While she is there two alpha’s compete for the one and only she-wolf. While spending time with her other wolves in the packs learn how to be more in sync with their wolf. The story progressed well and the drama was perfect. This book is very low spice which fits with the storyline. Her brothers are great but Channing is my favorite side character.

In a world where shifters are out in the open, Kira is the only female Wolf shifter. To avoid unwanted attention from male Wolf shifters, she pretends to be human. The cat is let out of the bag when she arrives in Shifters Lake to see the reading of the will for her late shifter father, where she attracts the attention of two alpha shifters competing for her affection. Despite her best efforts, Kira becomes involved in the politics between the alphas, who each want her for their mate, as her inner alpha wolf calls to theirs.

I have read a lot of shifter romances, and romances with love triangles, but this one wasn’t for me. I liked Kira, since she was snappy and sometimes mean to other characters, which are qualities we do not always see exhibited in a female MC. However, it was too easy to root for one of the Alphas to win Kira’s heart (i.e., because one was an abusive jerk), and I would have liked to see Kira more torn between them. Part of me wanted her to end up with her Bear shifter best friend instead, since they had better on-screen chemistry (IMO). I wish we’d seen more of him!

Stylistically, I also found it difficult to stay emotionally connected to the characters because of the frequent POV changes, including to side characters, to tell us how others were reacting or feeling. I find it easier to immerse myself in a story when narrative switches occur during section or chapter breaks, rather than mid-scene. I also prefer when the narrator has to infer what others are feeling based on their reactions (like we would if experiencing the scene ourselves), rather than being told directly what another character is feeling. Without sharing spoilers, it also sometimes felt like some plot elements later in the story were forced for conflict and didn’t have foreshadowing or connection to earlier parts of the story, which disrupted my immersion in the plot.

To summarize, Shifting Sides was a shifter romance with a strong-willed FMC, but the writing style and male leads did not resonate with me.

This was a shifter book. It had all types of shifters not just your standard wolf shifters. This was mainly about Kira. She was asked to come to this town where her father lived for the reading of his will. This is where she met Miles. He was her father’s lawyer and the alpha of his pack and he was doing the reading. She wanted to get this over with and go back to her cabin in the woods. He told her that he needed to wait until Her brothers got there which would have been the next day. He walked her to the hotel and she felt eyes on her. That turned out to be another Alpha his name was Enod. He was drawn to her but he didn’t know why. The next day he introduced himself to her and they had breakfast together. Turns out he is the alpha for the side of town her father’s house was in. They spent a lot of time together. Miles didn’t like that because her father promised her to him. She wanted to make her own choice. A lot happened between the 3 of them. This was really good.

So for this book is good, I feel like the FMC’s mother brainwashed her from early on. And this has cause her to distrust everyone and everything which makes her awkward.

And of course aren’t the alpha’s absolutely loosing their minds over her, possessive and a touch arrogant. But she’s also out there pushing buttons and not following customs.

I love the twists with the brothers, alpha’s and political turmoil.

Edens brothers are adorable. So are Kira’s.

Omg the dollar coaster of highs and lows, wow. I couldn’t put it down.

YES that ending was phenomenal!

Key points in no particular order.
– Urban Fantasy
– Multi POV
– Cheating
– shifters/all animals
– genetic manipulation & talks of genocide
– PA
- fated mates
- HEA

Holy smokes, "Shifting Sides" by K.A. Masterson sounds like a wild ride! I'm a sucker for paranormal romance, and this one's got me hooked. A world where Shifters are accepted? Sign me up! And Kira being the only female wolf Shifter? Talk about pressure! I'm totally invested in her journey already. The love triangle with two alpha wolves? Bring on the drama! Masterson's take on instinct vs. human nature has me intrigued. It's not just about who's the strongest, but who Kira chooses. If you're into steamy paranormal romance with a unique twist, this book is gonna be your new obsession. Just don't blame me if you end up howling at the moon!

Loved this book!!!

I have been in love with Ms. Masterson's writing for awhile now!! I have been so fortunate to have found an author that I love. This is such a unique spin on the shifter paranormal genre. Not only that, I loved being able to get into each character's heads through an omniscient POV. I'm hoping this will be a series, bc I don't want to leave these characters!

This was a really interesting take on a shifter book. I haven't read anything like it so that was kinda neat. The main female character was so different and intriguing. It was a slower paced book but because it was set up different it was able to keep my interest. Overal I really enjoyed it

This book starts out a little slow, but once you get into it, it’s very fast paced. This was a good short read. If you like shifter books, this would be a good one to read.

Animal shifters have finally been accepted as part of society, and that includes the wolf shifters. But, until Kira arrived in the wolf shifters world, there hadn't been another female wolf shifter.

Kira had arrived at Shifters Lake for the reading of the Will, there she meets two alpha wolves. One has the instincts of a true alpha and the other carries himself as though he will challenge him at any moment for the position of alpha.

Kira quickly finds herself entangled in a struggle of instinct and dominance. But, will she be able to overcome the struggle and manage to find love instead? When Kira's basic instincts meet human nature, there's only one alpha that can claim their mate, and only Kira can choose which one it will be.

I love K.A. Masterson and her writing style. I have read several of her books now and I have loved every one of her books and Shifting Sides has been no different. And as a lover of books about shifters, this book was right up my alley.

This was such a unique shifter book and the first one of its kind. I haven't read another shifter book where human society not only knows about the shifters but also accepts shifters. That was just such an amazing idea. And then the way that Kira was so in touch and in sync with her wolf, that was another aspect that I absolutely loved.

Kira hadn't known that she had any family till she was contacted and asked to attend the reading of a will, a will that just happened to be that of her own father. She had never met him or even known about him or ever any of the other wolf shifters, that is till she arrived at the will reading. Till this point in time, she had been on her own.

While she is with the wolf pack, she discovers that the pack was all male and that she is the first female to arrive in the pack. She had no idea how that happened and suddenly she was the center of attention.

Kira now finds herself caught between the attention of two men. One who has the attitude and strength to be the alpha of the pack and the other who has the belief that it is he who should be alpha and just wants to challenge the other for the position of alpha. All the while, Kira is spending time with the pack, learning how to get to know her wolf better, how to sync up with her wolf and grow that bond.

I loved the way that the story developed and the way the characters grew throughout the book. I loved the plot and storyline and the drama that we saw was just delicious. And while there was little spice in this book, it was perfect for the book. This book didn't need a lot of spice to progress and be satisfying.

I loved Kira's brothers, they were such great characters. But, of all the side characters, I have to say that Channing of all the side characters has to remain my favorite character.

I highly recommend this book, it's a great read and K.A. Masterson is a masterful author who is always worth the read.

A different kind of mating

As is expected, the storyline is creative, the writing alluring, and the characters relatable. I love the strong FMC and she choice she has in choosing her mate without needing one. Another great novel!
