Tatiana Jones is no stranger to the battlefield. One look at her scarred flesh tells the tales of her time in captivity. But it’s not only her skin the bears the marks her failures, doubt and a healthy dose cynicism now clouds her vision. She has also mastered the fine art of deception. In her line of work it is a necessity.

Former Navy SEAL Brooks Miller is living the good life working as a mercenary. Employed by the highly sought-after Z Corps, a private, special-ops company, there are no shortage of contracts sending him around the world. He lives wild and free with nothing tying him down—just the way he likes it.

When the Gold Team’s latest mission takes them to Bahrain, Brooks thinks it will be a quick in and out. That’s until he walks into a shitstorm and comes face to face with the woman who’s about to turn his world upside down. There was something working behind her intelligent eyes, and it looked a lot like pain. Not the physical kind, the emotional aftermath of heartache. And when she tries to hide behind snark and sass he decides on the spot he wants to know more.

Tatiana doesn’t have time for games. She’s on the hunt for the man who left her life in ruins. Brooks has something else in mind, something more, something far more permanent than the no strings fun Tatiana is offering. He had her right where he wanted her until the hunters become the prey and their world explodes. It will take more than the Gold Team to bring down a Saudi Prince out for blood. Their only hope is the one and only, king of all things cyber, John “Tex” Keegan. Can Tex get search and rescue team to them in time, or will it be a recovery mission?

I tried, I had to DNF.

This woman is ex CIA, highly intelligent (supposedly) and is shown in the very first chapter to be someone not to mess with. Yet within moments that view is destroyed by a seal team outwitting her constantly, the guy saving her straight away and a bunch of ohmygods after the first time they had sex where she calls herself a slut...for having sex with a bloke when they are both single and her admitting she hadn't been with another man since her divorce...so slutty....

The writing style was great, I liked the plot of surrounding it...just couldn't get past the moments stated above.

BROOKS (Gold Team #1) by Riley Edwards is the first book in a new romantic suspense series which will have crossover with Susan Stoker’s new Legacy SEALs series. This book takes off from the first page with ex-SEALs, ex-military, spies, action and suspense that engrosses you in the story and keeps you turning the pages.

Tatiana Jones knows the risks of being a spy intimately. Ex-CIA and working for a private firm now, she has the scars on her body from days of torture. She made a mistake. Now she is out for revenge.

Former SEAL Brooks Miller is now working for Z Corps. Z Corps is a private special-ops company with no shortage of contracts for their highly specialized work. He loves his team and the freedom of working for a private company.

While in Bahrain, the Gold Team’s latest mission crosses Tatiana’s mission with an assassination attempt on her life. Brooks does not know what it is about this snarky, sarcastic female, but he sees beyond her attitude and scars to the emotionally wounded female inside. Tatiana does not have time for this man who sees far too much. She is out to get the man who left her life in ruins.

Brooks has Tatiana’s back and she has his, but will it be enough as they face multiple enemies and life and death situations?

This book is fast paced, exciting, emotional and hot. Brooks is the definitely an alpha hero, but Tatiana is with him every step of the way with her kick-butt self. Tatiana’s emotional past includes a failed marriage to a mentally abusive adulterer and physical torture from terrorists which makes her exterior tough, but Brooks works to prove to her that that is not who she is. Ms. Edwards does an excellent job of balancing emotional turmoil, hot sex, action and suspense. The suspense plot twist and turns with surprises and thrills. The sex scenes are explicit and steamy. I started this book and could not put it down.

I am looking forward to reading many more books in this series!

Brooks and Tatiana

This is the first book in Edwards SFOA Gold Team series. It's a great start to the series, filled with suspense, mystery, humor and sexy time. This story is about healing both physical and emotional. Tatiana is a character who has so much pain, feels she isn't enough but Brooks will see the pain behind the mask. Brooks falls hard, their love story is beautiful and I loved Brooks though out the story. Now I am on to Thaddeus! Happy Reading!!

A new novel by Riley Edwards with crossover splashes from Susan Stoker's novels. The Gold Team world is filled with spies, former military men, plots and twists that will keep the pages turning, and lots of steamy chemistry.

Tatiana Jones is a former CIA operative, who is now an off-the-books spy working for a black ops organization called The Company, or as the government would probably refer to her as "rogue". Trouble. Tatiana had lots of reasons for why she has a chip on her shoulder, carries a grudge, and why she now works outside of the lines. She doesn't care what people think of her, she only cares about her mission. When the Gold Team gets in her way she cares, however, when the moment comes when she is no longer able to carry out her mission without them, she realizes she'd better play nice or else she'll lose all the work she's already put into her job.

Brooks Miller is a former SEAL who now works for the Gold Team. He may no longer work for the Navy, but he still has a team at his back when out on missions. Running into Tatiana Jones, a lone spy with no backup, has his hackles raised and his blood running hot. No other woman has ever gotten him hot and bothered both for the lies she has told and for the protective feelings he has around her. Tatiana is a beautiful woman, but something else pulls at him and until he figures it out he doesn't want to let her leave his side.

Two very strong-willed people working together could be the answer to taking down a monster and at the end of the day they may be just what the other needs to soothe their souls. Working together may either save them or destroy them both, because even though you may work together, there is very little trust among spies.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I thought it was really good. I tend to look for and read a lot of books that are tied to Susan Stoker's characters, and that's how I found this one. I find that many of those books are either a complete miss or are just okay, and that's usually obvious pretty early on. However, I keep trying them because they are my favorite types of stories, most are available on KU, and sometimes I come across an author that rivals Ms. Stoker's storytelling ability. I think Ms. Edwards is one of those writers. I'll definitely keep reading this series and am so glad it's on KU.

4.5 Gold Stars 🌟

Brooks is the first in the Gold Team series by Riley. I admit I haven’t read the red team yet which is on my list, so I’m coming in the reverse side to this series but that’s ok....I’m reading this series first because I know there is another Gold Team book scheduled for in a few months and I’m hoping to read them all before it comes out😁

Brooks is a part of Gold Team and when they meet Tatiana for the first time, Brooks is immediately attracted to the feisty and sexy lady😜 However, Tatiana comes with some baggage but Brooks is happy to cut through and show her her worth😍 Keen to find out what happens next in Mexico with Thad❣️

Figured out from trying this book I'm not a huge fan of spy romance with heroines like this. It could possibly be Tatiana I really couldn't stand but for a spy she was inept. The fact that she's running around in the middle east country wearing inappropriate clothing was a huge neon sign on lack of sense. Then there's all the arguing with Brooks and with Declan his superior yet they are the ones rescuing her ass over and over again. I don't really care what her trust issues are she'd already be dead with how shitty she was at her job. DNF at 50%. The writing was fine, the plot was okay, the hero seemed honest and competent, the heroine was just too self-focused to care about.

An exciting kick off to this new series. The characters from Red team and Z Corps are present as well and the dialogue is spot on.

Brooks is an operator on a short mission overseas. Gold Team meets up with Tatiana and the only one impressed is Brooks, and it's for all the wrong reasons. There's an explosion and an almost drowning by the second chapter and it's non stop from there. The chemistry is off the charts and it takes quite a bit for each of them to trust each other. I loved chapter 9 and 10. You will have to read to find out why.

"Someone hurt you."
I stepped closer.
"I'm well aware."
"They cut you"
Another step.
"Again I know"
"They placed their hands on you ... "
... there is more here
"It shouldn't have happened to you."
Last step and I was face-to-face with her.

I found this really powerful and emotional. It's definitely a page turner, twists and turns galore.

All I can say is that it's a spectacular read and I highly recommend this book and anything by Ms. Edwards.

Wow! So many twists, turns, and secrets exposed it was hard to keep up with it all but I was frantically flipping pages doing my best to do so. Edwards certainly takes us on a crazy ride with Brooks, book one in her new Gold Team series. The deeper you delve into the book, the more exciting it becomes. This is a constant action-packed, suspenseful read full of great characters and an intense storyline that will keep you glued to the pages. Two strong-willed, strong-minded kick butt characters face off against multiple enemies, as well as their desire for each other, with a determined team at their backs and face several conspiracies and life and death situations trying to discover the truth behind the lies.

I really enjoyed Brooks and Tatiana’s story and it was a nice surprise seeing the Legacy SEALs from Susan Stoker’s new series make an appearance. Edwards does a great job of merging them into this read and sharing additional crossover scene snippets of Securing Caite by Stoker. It was neat to see a different perspective of a few of the scenes in Bahrain. It looks like the new Gold Team series will be a force to reckon with. I look forward to getting to know the rest of the team in their own stories.

*Many thanks to the author for the advanced copy of this read. I am under no obligation to review this book; I do so freely and am providing my honest review.

Good read

I love that for once we had a strong heroine (Tatiana) who was also a very capable operative and not a damsel in distress. she was a bit insecure at time but given her past it wasn't so surprising. I love that she saved Brooks' life more than once, with the last one almost giving her life. Kind of poetic justice given how macho he was, wanting to protect her and boss her around. At times, he almost forgot that she was as capable as him. I did find him overbearing wanting to give her orders whilst he was not higher ranked that her. The whole affair during an op with the rest of the team in the house was a bit dicey but thankfully it didnt compromise their mission. The team desire at the beginning to know everything about her mission was insulting because they came to her territory and wanted to take over but good thing it worked out in the end. The reasons why I didn't give the extra star are for one because we didn't get a good physical description of either of them, nor did we learn their age. It was alluded to but it was enough to rely visualise them. The book also was a bit confusing at times. I suppose it's because the mission changed as they knew more but although the story about the artifacts was clear but how Rocco and crew ended up mixed into it wasn't that cristal. As for the original reason why the team came into Bahrain it was abandoned altogether. I know it's a series but these books are also suposed to be standalone so a little recap about the OMNI and how it came about, how it tied into this mission would have been useful. Also it was implied that the Team mission superseded hers but as for the why it was unclear. Zane being a contractor and her working for an CIA offshoot who gave the final orders? DoD, the Navy ? Who? Lastly the book was basically just one mission, it would have been interesting to see Tatiana and Brooks out of mission mode to see how they fit, with their families etc. Getting married so soon was a bit much. We didn't even learn what their long-term goals were.

Riley Edwards bring us the first look at Gold Team - men recruited by Zane Lewis and run by Declan, former CIA operative. Brooks takes one look at Tatiana and he’s lustful. As he gets to know the strength and intelligence of the beautiful spitfire, he falls hard for her. Tatiana is on the run in Bahrain from a destructive terrorist. She was tortured by him previously, leaving not only physical wounds stretching the entire expanse of her back, but mental & emotional scars as well. Tatiana is out for revenge as the man who hurt her. She‘s used to working by herself and not as a team. As destruction and chaos begins to rain down on her world, Tatiana must learn to trust and become part of the team that Zane Lewis has pushed her to work with and trust. When push comes to shove, will Tatiana choose to strike out on her own or will she embrace the team that has her back? Only time will tell. And when given a choice between staying with Tatiana in a time of need and fulfilling her desire for revenge, what will Brooks decide?

I love Brooks because he truly takes the time to help Tatiana overcome all of her scars - the physical, mental and emotional. All with love in his own gruff, tell it like it is way, and it’s exactly what Tatiana needs to get her confidence back in all the things she thinks she’s failed at.

Riley does an amazing job over crossing over with Susan Stoker’s Legacy Seals with scenes from Securing Caite. It flowed naturally and gave us Gold Team’s perspective of Caite when she sets out to rescue Rocco and the guys. I’m excited for this new series and I can’t wait to see who’s story is next. I received an arc for my honest review.

Tatiana Jones is an woman who has seen the battlefield, as her body tells the tale of captivity, but now her doubt & cynicism that she carries as baggage has her choosing to work alone, which is why her line of work she's learned the art of deception. However, her path has led her to the Gold Team, and Brooks, a former Navy SEAL, who thinks that the latest mission in Bahrain will be an in & out, all of a sudden turns into a huge crap storm that forces him to work with a woman that throws his world into chaos. She's closed off like no other, but he finds that he loves her sass, however, her life is in danger, but she's unwilling to reveal anything about what she's up to, until she's forced to, and their resident computer whiz isn't able to find out much at all. Luckily for them, they come across her path again, and this time, she's forced to become one of the team. Yeah, this story had me on the edge of my seat cover to cover, as Tatiana is definitely in the middle of all kinds of insanity. But her life only gets better when she comes across Gold Team & Brooks, especially when their chemistry is off the charts, and it takes almost nothing before they are lighting up the sky with sexy times. But my favorite thing is of course the f-bomb worthy twists that had me feeling like I was in the middle of the action, not to mention all the hotness of those former Navy SEALS. So yeah, I totally CANNOT WAIT for more of Gold Team, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Hot new group of protectors to fall in love with

Great beginning to a new series. As expected from Riley Edwards, the story had excellent character development, romance and steamy sex scenes.

I wasn't a fan of the female protagonists in the beginning. Once you get to know her, you begin to understand the protective layers that drive her. Brooks use of the nickname "Doll" was also annoying. I'm also put off by the reliance on Susan Stoker's book series. I understand that the story takes place in her contrived world but Edwards relied heavily on Stoker's storyline which at times made the story feel forced.

Once Edwards allows her own story to come out, she creates a fun, energetic storyline complete with HEA. Riley Edwards writing reminds me of Maya Banks, KGI series. It has the action, Insta love and alpha team of protectors that make you want to come back for more.

If by chance you haven't looked into Edwards other series, I strongly recommend her 707 series. "Nightstalker" was super rough but if you can push through it, the rest of her Red Team series is great too.

If you like military action and suspense with some romance mixed in then Brooks is the book for you! I have not read all of the books in the Special Forces series but that didn't effect my enjoyment of Brooks. We have two very different people meeting in this book. Tatiana Jones has been working undercover on her own for the last couple of years. She is used to relying on herself and when she meets Brooks Miller and the rest of his team she's not pleased. Tatiana has some artifacts to recover and she doesn't want anyone in her way. Brooks and his team have a job to do in Bahrain and he knows that Tatiana isn't everything that she's presenting herself to be. She says that she's working for the UN but that's a cover. The team needs to take down a criminal prince and Tatiana also has issues with the prince. Can these two learn to trust each other with the truth and work together to get their jobs done? Brooks is an action packed, steamy, fast moving story and I will definitely continue on with the series. It's told from dual POV and I fully recommend it.

Once again Riley Edwards delivers a phenomenal read. "Brooks" really has it all...alpha male, suspense and an incredibly strong lead female character. Tatiana's story is a story that can stand easily on its own. She has been through hell and back, trusts nobody but herself and is fighting her inner demons one day at a time. When she meets Brooks things do change. Not only is he driven, successful and cocky but he is the only one that is able to break through the tough shell Tatiana has built around her. Not too trusting in Tatiana's motives at first with time the team is starting to trust her, especially when she rescues one of their own in a gunfight risking her own life.
Tatiana has to be my favorite character in this book. She is unbelievably strong after what she has endured a force to reckon with. I love how the story is written and keeps you guessing all the way to the end. There are still unanswered questions but I am sure they all will be answered in upcoming books. Once again a phenomenal read by one great author.

Amazing start of new series

It's been a while since I've given 5 stars. Loved both Brooks and Tatiana (the end version of her). Good amount of romance and suspense. Don't need to read Stoker's book to know what is going on and enjoy this book. Loved all the team dynamics - really felt like they are a family. Only part I didn't like was the "slut" section. Had to roll my eyes that it was given so much text. Ok and there was a bit too much self-loathing from Tatiana. Sure I would probably have the same body image problem but the rest was a bit much. Soooo maybe it should only be 4 stars bc the h could have been a bit stronger of a character; how I think she will be written in future books.

Riley also did a great job getting me excited for the rest of the guys. I've been waiting for Declan since forever but Max is very promising and in the introduction to Thad....OMG. he sounds amazing.

I'm not sure the point of the whole Susan Stoker world. This book would have been fabulous without it.

Brooks: Special Forces Operation Alpha: A Gold Team Novel Book 1 is written by Riley Edwards. This book deals with a new team headed by Declan and stationed in Baharin. The action is quick and is set in a harsh environment.
Declan and his team are sent to Baharin on a mission. They did not anticipate their being merged with Tatiana. She is there with a different group and their paths have interfaced with the others. She knew she could deal with a group of men; but she didn’t know about Brooks.
Brooks was dedicated to his job and had not been with a woman for a while; but that was not what drew him to Tatiana. He couldn’t put it into words; but he was fascinated by her. He found out she was divorced from James Monroe and then he wondered about what happened; but he refrained from asking her. When he learned of her scars, he got angry and wanted to avenge her; but when the time came, he let her do it.
First, they had a mission to complete and one which there was a traitor attached.

I thought Jasmin and all of the other women from the Red Team Series was a warrior and strong but Tatiana Jones blew my mind! The only thing weak about her was the self doubt about her value and her ability to be teammate.

Brooks was blown away by Tatiana! If she had scars, they weren’t near as bad as her feelings of self worth and doubt. She had a giant chip on her shoulders but he knocked it off like it was a piece of lint.

Tatiana and Brooks were an explosion when they happened! The series of events that started out as a quick recon mission tumbled the team and their targets! This book was a roller coaster of a ride! I didn’t have time for tears because I was too busy ploughing on to try to figure out the bottom line!

This was an interesting fast moving story. The romance wasn’t “in your face” it did prove “Love conquers all” especially the part where you love yourself! I thoroughly enjoyed it. 5 Stars

Meet the gold team and some sexy alpha males. This is the first book in a new series and the focus is on Brooks and Tatiana. Tatiana is former CIA and has been previously to a Navy Seal, let's just say he left a lot to be desired and left Tatiana wary of the men on the team. She is prickly and independent and watching the interaction between her and the team often made me chuckle.

This is as much about the dynamics of the team and the integration of Tatiana into the fold as the relationship between Brooks and Tatiana. Brooks is as sexy as they come especially when he does things to support Tatiana even though it is difficult for him.

I can see Max and Tatiana being good friends especially after the balls conversation. You will need to read it to find out though.

Another fantastic book and the start of a new series, well worth a read!

Hiding behind masks...

...which is the real Tatiana?
At this point in time not even Tatiana knows the 'real' her any more, she maybe bitchy, snarky, sassy and feisty but you also sense the damage, heart ache and trauma she has suffered. Which is why even from their first meeting you cannot help but like Tatiana, can Gold Team keep her safe, find out who has made her a target and help her find herself?
Brooks may just have bitten off more than he can chew with Tatiana, he is not a fan of easy but damn she takes hard work to a whole new level! Unfortunately for him that attracts him even more!
Tatiana may shake Gold Team up...but this is only the beginning...Tatiana is a small piece in a very large puzzle.
Fantastic first book of the Gold Team series, which follows beautifully from Red Team and is also available on Kindle Unlimited.

I recommend reading Securing Caite by Susan Stoker first (BTW - awesome book too) before this one, but not necessary, just makes a couple of references in the book easier to understand how they came about. Securing Caite and Brooks roll together nicely. This first book in the Gold Team series was definitely packed with romance, suspense, and action. I really liked how Brooks lets Tatiana know how he feels about her scars, he embraces them as part of her and the scars just prove how strong a woman she really is.
I struggled a little at the beginning of the book with some of the attitudes of the rest of the team members, but as I got farther I to the book, I now need to read their stories and find out what happened to them in the past.

This is a brilliant start to the Gold Team series, and it’s good to meet up with some of the Red Team (and Susan Stoker’s characters of course). Z had to make an appearance and be, well, Z – his comments on the barbecue are particularly good. I read this just after Stoker’s Securing Caite, and that added to it, but it’s not an essential.

Riley Edwards is one of my favorite authors, and this is largely because of the way her characters live on the pages. By the end of this book, you not only “know” Brooks and Tatiana, but you are intrigued and getting to know the rest of the Gold Team. I’m now waiting for Declan’s story, but I think that may take a while. As always with an Edwards book, there are twists and turns, and the unexpected will happen. I couldn’t put this book down.

Brooks is….EVERYTHING! This is the start of a new series and I can’t wait to read more! What a perfect start! Brooks is all you want in an alpha male and more. From determined, stubborn, protective, HOT, and more. Add Tatiana, who has all the same qualities but insecure from her past experiences but just as determined and capable. Their chemistry is off the charts. The danger they face and the twists and turns, non-stop drama, you can’t put this book down. Get all wrapped up in the and the rest of the Seal team! You won’t be disappointed! And hey, for those Susan Stoker fans….you get Tex too!

Omg Another Hit book and must read!!!!

Omg Ryley is a force to be recognized for writing such Amazing Books And Books That Keep You Hooked from page one until the end and she leaves just enough for the next book that you count down the days for the next book. Brooks and Tatiana's book is absolutely one of the best books I have read in awhile and I found myself laughing and waiting to see what would happen next and at one point I felt myself tearing up and feeling what the characters were going through and felt like I was apart of it. Please if you have not read any of her books please do!! You won't be sorry..

Tatiana Jones, Tatiana is a name I have always loved and to see it in a book and see her be just what I envisioned in a woman is wow, she is very familiar with battles, she has fought many and lost a few, now she works alone and does not have to answer to any one, but her contact. She has many scars, some visible and some not.
Former Navy SEAL Brooks Miller is a strong man, but from the moment he met Tatiana, well just let say he got lost and totally fell for her. This story moves and moves fast between betrayal and saving ones live, both Brooks and Tatiana are in for it. Great story and even greater part was also seeing Tex and man does he get around.

Tatiana is a scarred strong willed woman. When she meets Navy SEAL Brooks Miller there are fireworks sparking and she has no clue how to stop them. After a bad relationship with her ex she doesn't believe that she is the beauty that Brooks says she is. Being set up with his team she finds it hard to assimilate as a team member. After spending years doing things on her own never having back up. She soon finds that back up is so much better. Loved this one, lots of action, sexy scenes and patience. You can't help but love this one.
