One of the scenes in this book is, hands-down, one of my ALL-TIME FAVOURITE romance realisation scenes. It's so good I get giddy thrills inside when I think about it. Jagger is one of the best YA heroes in all of bloody existence.

Also, there's a really funny scene right at the end of this book, which I massively appreciate because the series takes a darker turn in the last two books and proceeds to stamp all over my poor little heart. (Don't worry, it's not the romance).

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

This is such a great series and I eagerly dived into the fifth book in this awesome fantasy series. In Veritas the main character Ebba-Viva and the rest of the crew are looking for the fifth piece of the weapon, but they have trouble tracking this one.

There again is more danger and adventure for the characters, some big twists and reveals. Sad parts and also uplifting ones. It all makes for a very engaging read and I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened to the characters. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and I am not sure what to make of it yet, but I imagine the next book will be another tough one for the characters.

Besides the search for the next piece, there are more magical/ mythical creatures they encounter and also a multitude of more personal and character plot lines. It's actually a great book for character development. One of Ebba's fathers is acting weird, then another one of her fathers changes after a certain event. One of her fathers tells his story to Ebba. Then Ebba is trying to grow closer to Caspian to see if she can feel something more for him. And she finally figures out what to make of Jagger too.

It was great to learn more about the characters and see them go through some more changes. The sword Veritas also plays a big role in this story with how they finally use it's powers to gain insight in some truths. The title sure if well chosen as a lot is about finding and coming to terms with the truth. And then there is the fifth piece that has some reveals for the characters too.

I really like this series with how there's a big story plot line we're following with the quest to save the realm, but while the scope is big, there's also a lot more going on a smaller scope. There are the side characters and magical creatures they meet. And Ebba-Viva's fathers who all have their own story to Ebba-Viva who grows and changes so much throughout the series. I love seeing how she grows and changes throughout the series, it's one of my favorite parts. And then there are Caspian and Jagger, both to whom she grows close. While it might seem like it will be a love triangle, it never feels like that. It all develops very natural in my opinion.

There are new magical creatures we meet in this book, more information about the root of magic pieces, their roles and the new piece they discover something about. I liked how in this book they get a better understanding of what some of the pieces can be used for. I also liked some of the new characters/ creatures we meet and others were more nasty.

To summarize: Another great read in this sea themed fantasy series that follows a group of pirates who have to save the world! I enjoyed reading about the adventures that the crew gets up to in this book. Besides the search for the next piece of the weapon, there are also lots of personal and character development plot lines going on in this book. Some of Ebba-Viva's fathers have troubles. Ebba-Viva discovers more about herself and then there is the romance plot line that makes some progression. This book has some big events and twists and also some new tidbits we learn that I think will turn out to be important for the characters. And with the way things end at the end of this book I am curious to see what will happen next.

* I have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ebba keeps on getting better as a character in this fantastic series. There are so much turmoil and fighting she has to do in this novel. The pirates and the entire world gets better and better in terms of expansion. I loved seeing the new locations and places that Ebba and her crew encounter.

Ebba's kindling romance and fathers were really fun. I enjoyed seeing Ebba slowly start to become a bit more feminine and experience the awkwardness of first love. Ebba's fathers are still the best fathers out there. They are so sweet and would do anything for their daughter. The entire big family scenes were so sweet.

All in all, a great installment from a great author.

I think in terms of creatures, myth, and adventure, this was the funnest book yet. I loved the authors take on traditional Greek myths.

Also the Grubby plot twist might be my fav thing ever. Him being so proud of Ebba-Viva for wanting to get her rocks off with Calypso had me in stitches. I'm glad Ebba finally embraced her feelings for Jagger, but I wish she hadn't gotten any supernatural help. I wanted her to realize it on her own. Whatever tho, my ship is finally sailing so idrc how it happened, just that it is 🤗

Wow what an adventure of a series this is and I'm loving every minute of it. Ebba, Jagger, Caspian and her father's have all grown and developed so far from how they were in book one. All of them are now starting to build a closer bond and I'm enjoying how we're seeing that grow and develop. Veritas definitely has some shockers happen for the crew throughout this book and the ending is just WOW! I'm slightly afraid about what might happen to everyone! There are some developments in Ebba's relationships with both Caspian & Jagger in this book, I for one am glad of the direction it's going in, but I won't say who's team I'm on as that may give away spoilers. I really am loving this series more and more with each book that's released, I don't even want to think about how close we could be to the end as I don't want it to finish. Veritas is definitely a five star read and I'm really, really looking forward to book six.

Once again a story in a world with bold bright colors, exotic creatures both good and bad and a pirate crew who stands down for nothing and noone. And they need all their strength and courage this time. My heart breaks for the fathers, when one after the other they talk about their past, for Jagger (I was never more firmly in his team than after this book), even a bit for Caspian (the scene under deck after Calypso... oh my...) - but I root for my favorite heroine all the way. Ebba-Viva is just awesomesauce and I want to be her friend, especially when she needs one. And that ending? Kelly St. Clare isn't called the Queen of mean Cliffhangers for nothing. Be warned. Be forearmed. But you still will sit there with your mouth wide open, blinking in shock and not knowing how on earth you will manage to live in this suspense until the next book. If you find out, let me know!

Like I said before each book in the series just gets better and better. This one has so much action, adventure, danger and suspense. I could not stop reading till I just nodded off and started on it the next morning as soon as I got up and finished that day. Loved it so much and if you read all the ones before don't miss this one since it is more thrilling that the others before it. Like I said before each book in the series just gets better and better. Better and better!

I am loving how this story unfolds!

Our gang is off for adventure finding another piece to battle the Pillars but there is trouble on the high seas. You will have to read to find out exactly what befalls the crew of the Felicity but it is so worth every page. Sometimes long series have lulls in the middle where time is wasted to simply further the story but this story is action packed all the way through. The characters keep growing, learning and changing and the adventure keeps you on your toes through the whole book. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Keeps getting better and better

This book is amaaaaaazing !!!! Veritas continues the adventures of Ebba Viva , her fathers, Jagger, and Prince Caspian. Kelly pulls no punches in the fifth book and I wouldn’t want her to!! Not only does the romance get kicked up a notch (thank you!), but the plot gets even thicker than before! This book left me reeling right to the last punctuation and I am hungry for more. Hey, I would even stomach some of Peg-Leg’s fish stew if I got to read the next book! You’re missing out if you’re not already reading this series. Five stars and a pint of grog !

Hook, Line, and Sinker!

Oh Wow, What a ride! This book is crazy interesting as each action scene takes the group on a new kind of adventure. I’m interested to see how the crew moves on from the mess they go their selves in this time. Who will come to their rescue and what else will they loose to be freed. I am so excited to read the next book!

This series is excitingly busy and will take you along with them on the quest of finding the weapons to defeat the pillars. I recommend this series to people of all ages. Especially, if you like action, adventure, mayhem, pirates, a little sadness, and plenty of humor. This is a must read!!

Not an Ebba fan

Book 5 was a struggle to get through. Ebba's poor decision making is constant, her naivete increasingly irritating. Conceptually, I am not overly find of stories that have a young, naive woman being protected or led around by a man or group of men. Ebba's story is all about that, and while she gains knowledge and worldliness, the pace is too slow. Her pirate speak undermines her because she sounds dumber than she is. I think I prefer characters with more polish and maturity, which is why Ebba is hard for me to like. The author remains true to her, and the writing is excellent; I just can't stand Ebba most of the time.

LOVED this. The last book ended with quite the cliffhanger, so Veritas (#5) picked up from there and never slowed down. The last book was a little less action-focused, but St. Clare brings back the action fiercely here and somehow keeps up the deep introspection and character growth from book 4. It was super well-balanced in that respect - and when you combine that balance with all of the story arcs starting to weave more tightly together and yield the fruit we’ve patiently, patiently awaited.....it’s just so satisfying :)

Veritas is the latest instalment in this epic fantasy series and it’s another heart stopping tale filled with adventure and plot twists. I loved being back on board The Felicity with Ebba and her crew, I’ve fallen in love with the characters in this series, their relationships are so wonderfully written and there is real depth and history between them. There’s a hell of a cliff hanger at the end and it’s left me with quite the book hangover! I cannot wait to see how the crew deal with this!! 5 stars 😁 Be sure to check out the map for the new additions!!

Holy cliffhanger batman!

This has to be my favourite book in the series so far, Ebba and her crew are gaining the rest of the pieces they need to stop the Pillars and they make friends with a Kraken along the way.

I don't want to ruin it for others but I think it's clear who Ebba is going to be with when it comes to Jagger and Caspian and yay happy dance for that!

These books just keep getting better and better. The action more intense, the romance ever evolving, and more danger around every turn. This one had alot of ups and down. Lots of "ugh this better not happen" and "yeah I dont think so". This was i just really can't put it to words. You honestly will just have to read it and see it for yourself.

I’m not gonna lie...

I’m mad because I have to wait to see what happens next like everyone else and that’s totally unfair 😢 I’m special therefore I should be able to get ALL the books 📚 before anyone else EVEN Kelly’s beta readers 😜. But seriously I’m sooo excited to continue this series and see how they get out of this jam and save everyone.

GAH

That freaking ending. Holy Jesus. I hate you right now. Just kidding. I love you, and this book was awesome sauce. Though I am sad that Ebba likes a certain someone. *insert sad face here* The kraken was the best part though. Not even gonna lie. I need to next one like nowwwwwww.

Heart stopping adventure!

Each book in this series is getting better, tons of suspense, romance and adventure! Ebba-viva and her crew are complex, fun characters., I feel for all of them. I highly recommended this to anyone who likes a brave and captivating heroine leading the show.

Things just get tougher for Ebba and her fellow pirates. They find the fifth part of the weapon and then they lose SO much on this leg of their journey. Ebba and Caspian struggle to define their relationship and Jagger’s true feelings are revealed. I’m still in denial over some of the things that happened in this book. I can’t stop! I need to know what happens next! Ahoy to book 6!

The Best Yet

This is my favorite book in the series so far. Action packed, as usual, and full of character development. I loved all of the new immortal creatures the pirates met in this book, but the Kraken was my absolute favorite. What a character! And what a cliff hanger ending- you have to roll right into the next book with this ending!

This was one of my favorite books that led to book number my next favorite. I misplaced my word count, but they are all roughly the same. The Sh word is spelled different. Also Ebba learns more about her heart and what she wants. The is definitely some character growth..
