"By far one of the best books I have read in a long time!...I stayed up until 2 and 3 in the morning reading this book.”—Judy, Amazon

SAVAGE LOVE

By sheer will, Lady Rachael Moreover stays alive until one warrior who’s different from the rest steps forward and wins her heart in this thrilling frontier love story.

The English Lady is on her way to Philadelphia when she is attacked by the Iroquois chief Broken Horn and his war party who kidnap her and her fiancé, Scottish Viscount Gifford Langston. Broken Horn can’t decide whether to keep this beauty or sell her to the French, who pay good money for white women. When she rejects his advances, he decides to sell her.

Lady Rachel’s determination and fearlessness are what keep her alive the first few days at the Indian village. There she meets Storm Dancer, Broken Horn’s brother, who remembers her as the woman who stood up to them when any one of them might have cut her down, just like that. She has a brave heart.

Rachael and her fiancé make a desperate attempt to escape under night’s cover. He gets away, but Broken Horn catches Rachael and carries her back to the village, where the tribe is waiting for her with a roaring fire. Two men bind her to a pole like a hog tied for slaughter.

Pretty Woman, Broken Horn’s wife, who has been using Rachael as her domestic slave, approaches her. “I told you no run. I told you no touch my man.” A smile crosses her misshapen mouth. “Now you pay price.”

Men begin to pile branches around her. Drums pound a slow, ominous beat and the men dance around her. Then Rachael sees the torch approaching. They are going to burn her alive….

Okay, I'm sorry. Truly, I'm sorry...but not sorry.

This is my second try at a read from Colleen French, but I can't do it: I just don't like this author's writing or her storylines. It feels like a lot of the time things just make no sense, either because the characters are contrary and swing back and forth in their decisions like a broken pendulum, and when things do happen, it's almost always spontaneously and without warning or buildup.

And I just can't enjoy stories like that, no matter how hard I try.

So...yeah, I'm off this author. NEXT.

Reasonably good read. She is an English Lady who along with her fiancé are attacked by an Iroquois war party. Over time her fiancé manages to escape but leaves her behind to face the consequences. She is literally left to burn at the stake when a member of the tribe claims her as his wife. They are married and she learns to accept the situation. When he learns what his brother has planned for the local mission they set out to warn them. In doing this he is banished and considered dead. They leave and head for his mother's people where their married life becomes more relaxed and happier. This new tribe now considers him a shaman and look at him to move the tribe to safer grounds. To do this she still has money and decides to go back to her ex fiancé and claim it. Her fiancé tries to poison her so there are no witnesses to his deceit. All is fair in love and war and good always wins over evil.

I didn't give this book five stars, because there were a lot of errors that distracted from the story. I really liked how Colleen French took you on a journey. This story was full of hardships, love and not so shocking twists. I love Storm Dancer so much. He was an incredible character.

Savage

I really enjoyed this book. Colleen is a great story teller. Her writing style books you in from the very beginning of the book. Her characters are strong and very engaging. Storm Dancer is very honorable with strong sense of duty. Rachael is very strong even being kidnapped by a ruthless Mohawk. Storm Dancer and Rachael make a life together against all odds.

Reasons I loved it and will read more by this author

I was so glad it wasn't the same old stories where the heroine is lost to hero many times over And over. If you want a story that isn't the same old captured, escapes, recaptured, doubts her feelings, wants to return to old life then you will love this book. Getting ready to read another one by this author.

Perfection!

Now this was a story to read. Much like Historical Romance from the 80”s and 90”s. I love reading books like this one. So full of characters yet still easy to keep them all straight. It was full of descriptions of our ancestors. Absolutely amazing!!!!! I need another one like this!

Captivating but juvenile sometimes

Although the story is very intricate and nicely woven sometimes there is a juvenile air to the portayed situations and a bit of repetition. Overall I would say it is a good, better than some.
